After the periodic tests came the sweet taste of an excursion for the students of Class VII, as today they were taken to the National Science Centre and the amazing Waste to Wonder park.

The picnic fulfilled the twin motives of education as well as amusement. The National Science Centre offered hands on learning experience to the students and practical reasoning about day-to-day activities. Science is always understood better when it is performed rather than it being read out or explained. The fun-to-do exhibition provided logic and games based on basic scientific principles.

After a sumptuous snack break, the girls were taken to the amusement park, where they clicked umpteen photographs and learnt about the 7 wonders of the world, all situated in their miniature form, at a single place. The visit also taught the budding minds to utilise waste to its optimum potential.

The tour was complete with singing and laughter on the way back.

Today our tiny tots learned the actual meaning of "precaution is better than cure", as they took a short and informative trip to a nearby fire station, to understand the importance of community helpers in our lives.

The students of Seedling were introduced to the fire station officer who was geared up in a fire suit, and who detailed about the emergency procedures and precautions that are necessary in case of a mishap.

They were also acquainted on the ways that can be used for dousing the fire i.e. covering the area with a blanket, or putting sand over the affected area, etc. A demonstration drill was also organised to explain the whole process of fire elimination.

Excited cries filled the station when the children trooped into the red fire brigade, inspected the interior and rang the bell. Besides live demonstrations, the firefighters revealed the kids several types of tools they use to cut trees, and break doors and even walls that come in the way during an operation.

It was movie time for students of Grade 4 and 5 of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School.

A wave of excitement went through the students when they were taken to the theatre. They watched - a photo realistic computer - animated classic - ‘The Lion King’. Simba won the hearts of our students and a big part of the joy of the movie was the musical performance - ‘Hakuna Matata’.

The movie convinced our little audience that these creatures exist, that they shed fur and drop scat on the jungle floor. It was as if they were real animals with intelligence. . . Look at the happy and excited face of each one of them.

The senior most batch of our school had the pleasant privilege of visiting one of the leading fashion institutes of India, The Pearl Academy on 8th May 2019. The students couldn't help but be awestruck by the flamboyant polaroid of creative ideas showcased at the academy. Myriads of intriguing ideas from architecture, fashion mental health and coping up with negative emotions and even awareness about the LGBT+ community could be found in the adorned rooms of the academy where the ace artists apparently brain-stormed.

In addition to that, the amicable staff made it certain that they provide the budding, inquisitive students with as much artistic insight as possible. Plus, the students were thrilled and delighted to receive multiple eye catching goodies ranging from bookmarks to badges. Pearl Academy seems like a haven for those who aspire for success in the field of fashion, media and designing. However, it also comes off as an aesthetic destination for anyone with an artistic bling.

In all, visit to the Pearl Academy was a memorable and insightful experience for one and all.

It has been quite rightly said that the heart of education lies in education of the heart . And ... a child's heart not only seeks knowledge but also yearns for fun and frolic as well as learning through experience of new and exciting things, places and people. It is thus that our school provides it's students a rejuvenating break from their hectic and at times monotonous routines through excursions like the annual class picnic. The students of classes IX and XI of our school went to Adventure Island for their annual class picnic. It was indeed a wonderful day filled with fun and frolic for all. The students enjoyed a spectacular magic show at the venue along with adventurous rides and a scrumptious meal. They thoroughly enjoyed this day with their peer, returning to the school with wonderful memories and a rejuvenated spirit.
