It is considered to be a mark of goodwill and merriment. In keeping with the Christmas spirit today the tiny tots of seedling visited St. Mark's Church, Punjabi Bagh.

Its silence and calm ambience was mesmerizing. The shining glow of the Church in Christmas was simply alluring.

Children sang Christmas carols. They were very enthusiastic and enjoyed thoroughly. Last but not the least Santa Claus arrived and filled the entire crowd with joy and happiness.

"Prayer - The most powerful weapon against trials. The most effective medicine against sickness and the most valuable gift to someone you love." How nice it is to start a day with a spiritual offering. Keeping this benign spirit in mind, the children of Seedling and class 1 were taken to the Iskcon Temple on August 3, 2017. The children were really excited for the trip since this experience was altogether new for them. The calm and serene atmosphere of the place filled them up with a renewed energy. They offered prayers to the lord and were given prasaad also. This was a complete wonderful experience.

It was an amazing place full of greenery, bringing the students close to the alluring beauty and bounties of nature. The resource person enlightened the students about different kinds of floras with their medicinal properties and the dependency of certain animals on these plants. They were given reasons for the vultures and other birds getting endangered. They visited butterfly and orchid conservatory and learnt incredible amazing facts about butterflies and their host plants.They were also shown a documentary on it. It was an unforgettable visit which encouraged the students to take care of the environment and keep it well maintained for a healthy life.

HT PACE organized a visit to the National Agriculture Science Museum on 12 May 17, 2017 for the girls of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School. This museum is situated in the premises of National Agricultural Science Centre. This is a unique and only museum on Agriculture in the country, preserving agricultural history and various dimensions of its journey of development, a visit to which was a thrilling experience in itself. Interesting information on agriculture, especially for children, is provided in the museum through easy and interactive audio-visual medium. There were around 150 exhibits categorized under various sections. A few of which were Six Pillars of Agriculture, Agriculture in Pre-historic Period, Agriculture Science in Independent India, Golden Future of Indian Agriculture etc. Children found this very informative and interesting. A group of 141 students were a part of this educational trip.
Adventure Camp at Mashobra - (10 to 13 May 2017)
St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School believes their students to give a holistic approach towards life, Believing in the spirit of Adventure, students of classes VI-VIII were taken on an adventure trip to the pristine mountains of Mashobra under the able supervision of a well-known group Rocksport. Eighty two girls from the school packed their bags to face the best experience of their life from 10th May to 13th May.

What a breath-taking view the campsite was!! Students were delighted to see their tents all lined up in a valley surrounded by majestic Deodars. The trainers immediately introduced the students to the rules of the camping and students were given refreshments to energize them. And there was no turning back, students found themselves engrossed throughout the day in various physical activities in which they came to know about their own strengths and weaknesses. Students enjoyed themselves by doing certain activities like Burma Bridge, Hangman, Zip line, Rappling, Mountain Biking, Trekking, Cooking which tested their courage and skills. Fun activities like Air Hopie, Bonfire, exercises, Dancing always elevated their entertainment quotient. To go on a Night-trekwas literally a spell-binding experience for our girls. Each activity was so well planned and executed that children found themselves to be very close to the nature and brought them face to face with their inner selves. Each hectic part of the day was followed by a sumptuous meal which kept the students energized. Every single day the sunsets at camp were reflection time where students used to write journals in which they recorded their daily experiences and even pasted and drew some striking objects to relive their memories later.

On 13th morning bags were packed with heavy hearts, no one willing to leave the scenic camp site but with a promise to be at the next camp at the earliest. At the end students and their teams were awarded prizes for exemplary work. The camp instilled in our students the need to respect our resources, to become physically active and mentally alert. And they relived the tagline of every adventure camp- that every adventure starts with “I CANNOT” but ends with an “I DID” just by doing it, our students came back content and all the more rearing to go.

Our school organised an excursion for the students of Class V to the National Bal Bhawan, located at Kotla Road, near ITO on 9th May 2017. National Bal Bhawan is an institution which aims at enhancing the creative potential of children by providing them various activities, opportunities and common platform to interact, experiment, create and perform according to their age, aptitude and ability.

There were a number of attractions for the students to visit inside the Bhawan like the Jawahar fish aquarium.

In the Fish Corner, children learnt about the behavior of the fish, their food habits, the interdependence of different species living under water and fish breeding. Regular discussions and interactions are part of the activity of Fish Corner. Children's natural curiosity in the form of questions is satiated during the interactive sessions, such as the need of having gills and fins in the fish. Children were amused to see fighting fish, which prefer to live alone.

The aquarium also possesses those types of fish, which live in dark, deep caves, since they do not have eyes. Children were amazed to find that there are some fish known as sucker-mouth cat fish, which are natural cleaners.

Magic mirrors kept in an open room are another attraction of the National Bal Bhavan. Laughing mirrors comprise big concave and convex mirrors arranged in a special manner to reflect funny, distorted images of anyone entering the room. Children found these very amusing and funny. 82 children were a part of this educational trip.

On 5 May students of Class 5 of St. Mark's Girls School were taken on an educational trip to the National Rail Museum which focuses on the rail heritage of India. The students explored the museum and saw the mesmerising engines and coaches displayed as exhibits. There were many interesting things for the children to see eg. Steam Loco, Electric Loco, Diesel Loco, Rail Car Wagon, Crane, Fire Less Engine, etc. They were enthralled to ride a toy train that took them around its sites. It was quite small but cute and the kids loved it. As the toy train crossed various engines and coaches and passed through a tunnel, the ecstatic students clapped and cheered. It was a great learning experience for the children and they enjoyed it thoroughly.

Being aspiring Commerce students, the functioning of SEBI had always been a key interest component for us. The glorious opportunity to visit SEBI’s office for an interactive session struck our minds like nothing else. We, a group of 42 students, accompanied by Mrs. Shivani Malik and Mrs. Sajal headed our way to the office in high spirits. The staff at the office welcomed us warm-heartedly and had made magnificent arrangements to ensure our comfort. The session began with the moderator introducing us with SEBI and its primary functions. Further, the session proceeded with a detailed explanation of various players in the securities market, delineation of various aspects of government securities, pros and cons of investing in share market, etc. By the same token, an informative session on mutual funds was undertaken by our moderator on the special request of our students. Succeeding a short snack break began the Q & A session which further expanded our horizons of knowledge. To conclude the seminar on a positive note, our teachers presented a token of gratitude and appreciation to the moderator followed by a group picture to cherish the wonderful occasion forever.

The informative session with the staff of SEBI definitely engineered our young minds to lead the way in the share market!!

NEHRU PLANETARIUM! A REMARKABLE JOURNEY THROUGH UNIVERSE OF ASTRONOMY

St. Marks Girls Sr. Sec. School organised a field trip to Nehru Planetarium for Class VI students on 26th and 23rd April 2017. The magnificent building captivated the students. A model satellite launcher at the entrance fascinated all of them. Students experienced the journey through the stars, the excitment among the students was overwhelming. The skies came alive on their massive dome theatre. "The Ultimate Universe "show was extremely spectacular and provided a good visual experience as well as factual knowledge of astronomy. It was overall an enriching experience.

‘In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks’.

Spread over a vast expanse of 15 acres, Mughal Gardens has often been portrayed and deservedly so, as the soul of Presidential Palace.

The St. Marks Girls School organized an excursion for the little cherybiums of Sapling Class.

The children beaming with excitement entered the heritage site. With the Rashtrapati Bhawan as the perfect backdrop, the children saw a variety of herbs and flowers like Aloe Vera, Peppermint, China Main, Ice Berg, Tulips, etc.

They enjoyed watching the dancing fountain and sang along “Kadmo se mile Kadam” as the fountains made different formations. The bright sun didn’t deter their enthusiasm as they were in awe with the big banyan trees and bonsais.

Not only did the kids immensely enjoyed seeing the Mughal Gardens awash with spring blooms but, they also learned about their heritage and history.

"We don’t inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children” - The true meaning of this was understood by the students of Class IX as they had an enriching experience of bird watching at the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary on 18 February 2017. The visit was organised by the Animal Welfare ClubAAshrey” under the expert guidance of Ms. Garima and Ms. Anjali Handa. The sanctuary located 40 km. from Delhi is heaven for nature lovers and bird watchers. The students got an opportunity to behold the sight of many resident and migratory birds like white-throated kingfisher, yellow wagtail, Black francolin, laughing dove, magpie robin and many more. Swarmed with many professional photographers and bird watchers, the tour to the National Park was knowledgeable and made the students realize the importance of connecting one’s soul and spirit with nature.

The students of Class III and IV were taken to an Amusement Park Aapno Ghar on 9 February 2017. Aapno Ghar amusement and water park, the city of joy is the ideal expression of a beautiful and unequalled dream. It exits in the harmony with magic of nature. The mildness of sunrays, the gentle rumbling fountains and lush green landscapes adorn the charm of a timeless blend of natures beauty and jovial world for a child’s fantasy. The students enjoyed the thrilling rides, along with dancing on the foot tapping music on the whole, it was a day full of fun and frolic under the supportive guidance of their teachers and refreshing snacks/lunch to munch on.

The dawn of 9th February brought a glint in the eyes and a sunny smile on the lovely faces of our Class 1 and 2 children as it was a special day for them, the day they were anxiously awaiting for, their annual picnic. We all look forward to picnics, whatever our age may be. With excitement and anxiety brimming in their hearts the students reached Fun 'N' Food Village. They enjoyed a variety of rides with their teachers which was followed by a hot delectable meal. The students had a blast when they gyrated on the stage and showcased their dancing talent. A few of them bagged prizes also .. The icing on the cake was a refreshing ice cream treat before the children boarded their buses. For our little angles it was a day filled with fun and frolic and a heart filled with long lasting memories ..

"Enjoy the little things in life.... for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things."

The students of Classes V and VI were taken for a picnic to the 'Worlds of Wonder' Amusement Park in Noida on 31 January 2017. This small thing turned big as it was a day of delight and wonder for these girls of SMGS.

The students enjoyed the fabulous adventurous rides which were followed by a sumptuous buffet at Jubilee Lawn, mega disco and picturesque sights to have fun activities. It was a pleasant experience, still afresh in one's mind.

To make our students aware about the importance of rich and varied allied heritage of India. Under the project of INTACH students of our school were taken to SHEESH MAHAL, SHALIMAR BAGH where a cleanliness drive was organized by them wherein children were sensitized to keep our monuments clean.

The tiny tots of Seedling took a short trip to the Catholic Church Punjabi Bagh to enhance the spirit pf christmas and to spend some quality time with Lord Jesus on Thursday ie 22.12.16.

Children were welcomed into the church by members who ushered in new parshioners and orient them into the church. Children were happy to witness the decorations and sung a few christmas carols in the church.

A picnic is more than eating a meal, it is a pleasurable state of mind and to bring this state of mind St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec School Meera Bagh organised a picnic for students of class XII to the 'World's Of Wonder' at Noida. It was a good break for students from their usually hectic study schedule. Students enjoyed fun rides with their friends and teachers. As there is no fear when you are having fun so students enjoyed all rides with great enthusiasm. Everyone was full of life and masti as they danced on latest music numbers. As it was the last fun trip of their school life so they wanted to make it memorable. There was no tiredness on their smiling faces on their return journey. This fun trip has given them the time which they will cherish throughout their life.

The members of the Eco Club of our school visited an organic farm in Mundka. The students were accompanied by two teacher incharges, Ms. Anjali Handa and Ms. Amrit Kaur. It was a wonderful experience. Nature’s trail early in the morning was very refreshing. The students were very excited to see the fresh vegetation, direct from the farm. They compared it with the variety available commercially and how the two were so different. They learnt the importance of organic farming. Overall, it was a good learning and enriching experience.

“Experience is the teacher of all things” - Visit to Holy Places.

The students of class IV were taken to a few historical and religious places of Delhi on 16 November 2016. At the first sight itself i.e. The Red Fort we were bowled over by the majestic structure, exploring the Red Fort we went forward to Mumtaz's Museum. Our next destination was Bangla Sahib Gurudwara where the students were excited to see the most eminent Sikh Gurudwara in the heart of Connaught Place. The students started with paying reverence to the holy book of Sikhs 'The Gurugranth Sahib' and had Amrit which is believed to cure people from all ailments. Followed by the visit to The Sacred Heart Cathedral which is a Roman Catholic Church, the students were made to sit and pray in silence as the environment was very peaceful. To end our visit our last destination was Birla Mandir, this temple is dedicated to Laxmi Goddess and Narayana. The visit offered the teachers and students to interact in an informal environment ,much to the pleasure of both. On the whole, it was a day of fun accompanied by the supportive guidance of teachers and refreshing snacks to munch on.

The magic of the field trip isn’t just the subject, it’s a break in routine and adventure that opens up the children’s minds to new things. To fulfill this purpose a recreation picnic programme at the Aero Planet was designed for the students of Class I and II. Each activity offered at the Aero Planet was full of fun and adventure. Flight safety demo was given to the students in a real aircraft. Explaination of cockpit was given by trained engineers. Children also got an opportunity to slide down from the Airbus A-300. Later, they had some refreshments and enjoyed dancing. It was a fruitful experience for the children.

The students of Seedling were privileged to visit the ISKCON Temple on 20 October 2016. ISKCON temple is also known as Krishna temple. The tiny tots were made to worship the deities. The ambience was very peaceful. The childhood stories of Lord Krishna were also narrated to the children. The students enthusiastically participated in the kirtan and chanted the mantras of lord Krishna.At the end students were served the parshad of khichdi which they relished. It was a devotional and memorable visit which the students thoroughly enjoyed.

Movies can and do have a tremendous influence in shaping young lives in the realm of entertainment towards the ideals and objectives of normal adulthood. St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School organized a movie showcasing session for the students of Classes VI to VIII in collaboration with Newspaper in Education. It was an enriching experience for the students as it took them afar from the everyday classroom sessions. Classes I to III watched an animated spectacle of “Alvin and the Chipmunks”, the film is a musical comedy and an adventurous creativity of art. Classes IV to VI were shown “Jungle Book”, an amalgamated view of relationship between humanity and nature. The movie is a wholesome review of amusement and thrill. Classes VI to VIII saw “Nil Battey Sannata, an enthralling vision of hope and the promise of upward mobility that doesn’t depend on the social strata you come from but your own will and diligence. The movies were an engagement of both educative and informative view towards life and its related perspectives in the realms of children. Students loved the enthralling day of fun and frolic accompanied by the supportive guidance of teachers and refreshing snacks to munch on.

Fruits and Vegetables are an important part of a balanced diet. To inculcate healthy habits in our tiny tots, seedling had planned a small visit to a nearby Reliance Fresh outlet. Different fruits and vegetables were shown to them. Children were very enthusiastic to have a close look at them.

They were thrilled to see the majestic white tiger, gigantic elephant, pretty and colourful macau amongst others.

Overall it was a day well spent which would given our tiny tots wonderful memories.

They sang melodious songs and played many games on their way. They were overexcited to see many rides when they reached there. They had a number of rides and enjoyed the whole day with lot of gaiety and joviality. The students enjoyed the delicious food. They rocked the dance floor and some of our talented students won amazing prizes for their splendid performances. They had a great time and enjoyed each and every moment of the day.


Annual Picnic - (9 February 2016)
It was time for fun and frolic yet again as the students of Classes VI to XI enjoyed a joyous day at the Adventure Island, Rohini. The extravaganza began with a cheerful singing of peppy songs enroute the venue where our students were given a warm welcome. The students enjoyed an array of rides and sumptuous meal which was followed by an acrobatics show and dancing. It was a day well spent for classes VI, VIII, XI on 8 February and for classes VII, IX, X on 9 February 2016. It was a break from the humdrum routine of the everyday life that left everybody yearning for more.

Students of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School (Class IX and X) accompanied by their teacher coordinators Ms. Anjali Handa and Ms. Meenu Khurana went on a heritage tour to Jantar Mantar and the Sacred Heart Cathedral. The curious minds of our students learnt about the use and importance of sundials. Later our students seeked the blessings of Jesus Christ for a better future ahead. On the whole, it was an intriguing and informative experience for our students.

Students of Class XII of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School Meera Bagh went for picnic on 21st December at Adventure Island, Rohini. It was a much needed break for students. Enjoyment started as students boarded the bus. They sang songs, played games on their way to the picnic spot. As they reached the spot students immediately ran for taking rides of their liking. There were number of adventurous rides which gave them adrenaline rush. In the afternoon students were served sumptuous lunch which was followed by in dance where DJ played music and students danced to their favourite numbers. Students of Class XII were more excited as it is their last year in school, so to keep memory of this outing they clicked number of pictures with friends and teachers. It was a fun filled day which students will remember always.

A visit was organised for the students of classes IX and X to Alliance Française de Delhi. It was a part of an endeavour to honour France on its national day i.e the 14 July.

The educational trip began with our learners witnessing a French film. It was followed shortly by a quiz on the same. They also marvelled at the well-stocked library with French's classic pieces of literature. The day was planned to give our students a good exposure.

Students of senior classes were invited by IIT Delhi for 11th Open House 2015. There was an introduction by Prof. S. N. Singh followed by a lecture on 3D Printing Prof. P. V. Madhusudan Rao, then a visit to exhibition in different departments and laboratories was planned. Students got lot of new scientific ideas and inspiration due to this visit.

The students of class I of our school went on an educational trip to the zoo on 14 March 2015.

They were really enthusiastic to see different animals and birds. They learnt a couple of facts which really made the trip even more interesting. The excursion provided an enlightening opportunity to students, enabling them to enhance their thinking skill and increase their knowledge.

It was a remarkable and fun-filled experience for the kids as they came back with a smile on their faces.

A visit to the Zoo for Class Seedling and Sapling - (21 February 2015)
The tiny tots of seedling and sapling had the pleasure of enjoying the warmth of the sun on a zoo safari that is National Zoological Park on 21 February 2015. Children were very excited about the same. They had fun watching the roaring lion, white tigers, leopards, African elephant, bear, black bugs, hippos and to their excitement the tallest animal giraffe. They were thrilled to see the largest bird ostrich which was the new guest at NZP. Our cherubims were shown many flowers and trees at the zoo like : banyan tree, dinner plate tree. They enjoyed looking at the swamps made for the water birds. The children were happy to see all those animals with own eyes about whom they read in books. On a whole the experience was quite knowledgeable for the kids. This excursion was one of the school’s intrinsic way of imparting learning to their toddlers.

"The very existence of libraries affords the best evidence that we may yet have hope for the future of man."

Indeed, the world of books is a paradise in itself. The students of classes VIII to XI of our school recently visited this heavenly abode on 13 February 2015. The students of the Fantastic Fiction Club were taken to the British Council Library, escorted by their teachers Ms. Kamana and Ms. Jyoti. They were mesmerized by the vast collection of books of all genres and the well maintained library, and had a wonderful time scanning through the elaborate collection. It was indeed a day well spent.

The students of class VII visited the National Museum of Natural History organised by HT Pace on 12 February 2015. It was a memorable experience to see the wildlife, know about their evolution and learn how important it is to conserve them. The students learned the significance of animals in balancing the ecology. The curiosity shown by the students was amazing as they learned about the endangered and extinct species of animals. The coordinator of the museum made them realise that it is high time that humans stop poaching and polluting. They were made aware of the importance of every organism. No organism should be neglected or exploited because it will destroy the fragile web. The beautiful specimens of animals in the museum fascinated the students. They were so realistic that one could hardly believe they were not real. It was surely a worthwhile educational outing.

St. Mark's Girls School had a picnic to Doll Museum for seeding and sapling classes. Children were delighted watching beautiful dolls which represented different countries and their heritage. There were presentation of our Indian culture and important events that took place in the ancient times. Children enjoyed the event and had a gala time.

A group of 62 students of Class VI, X and XI along with 5 teachers and Vice Principal Ms. Sabina Shergill of St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec. School recently went to Ranthambhore National Park as a part of 4-day trip organized by Edterra group. The students visited the National Park twice where they saw various animals in their natural habitat. The students visited the famous Ranthambhore Fort and learnt about its historic significance. They also visited Dastkaar-an NGO supporting rural women in promoting handicrafts. They also participated in various fun-filled activities organized for them by the EdTerra group. Overall it was an enriching experience for the students.

The students of Class IV and V, of St. Mark's Girls Senior Secondary School, Meera Bagh went on an educational trip to Agra on 14 and 15 September 2014. The students visited the Agra Fort, the majestic Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri. The students participated in various activities organised at the monuments which helped them learn about the history of the monuments and various Mughal Emperors. It was a good learning experience and the students took back lots of memories to cherish.

St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School organized an educational trip for Class II students to National Bal Bhawan on 21 August 2014, where children enjoyed watching different activities such as art and craft, painting. Also, they visited Aquarium, Wall of Values, Art and Craft Gallery. There was a room in which the life of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was exhibited. The other rooms displayed various musical instruments, paintings. The children also witnessed the culture of our country.

Class I of the St. Mark’s family got the opportunity to enjoy their childhood in the Bal Bhawan. It was a perfect outing for our children on the 20 of August 2014. They had a lot of fun watching a number of different activity rooms like, the painting room, paper room, wood craft room, mud room, aquarium room and a lot more.

This field trip was one of the school’s intrinsic way of enhancing learning. There, the students learnt various ways of utilizing the waste material. Children were amazed to see the craft work and showed immense interest.

The sight of fishes in the aquarium was an apple to the eye for the children. The excursion came to an end with the toy train, where the children enjoyed the most. It was a fun filled day.

School excursions enhance students learning by providing the opportunities for students to participate in curriculum-related activities outside the normal school routine. It aims to maximise students learning experiences.

Students of Class XI (Humanities) got an opportunity to visit National Museum, Delhi on 1 August 2014. The students were escorted by Ms. Arpita Dutta and Ms. Shruti. Museum exhibits inspired interest in their area of study. Various artefacts of different period of history starting from Harappan civilization to 19th Century were exhibited. Some students were astounded specially to see the rich ivory craftworks and some had awesome glance up at the intricate designs on the textiles. I was truly an enriching experience for the students as it was not only a break from their regular routine but also a sneak peek into the glorious past of our civilizations.

Tiny tots were excited to see the varieties of fruits and vegetables under one roof. Concept of buying things from such store was explained to them.

Overall it was a wonderful experience for our kids.
Visit to Haus Khas Lake - (July 2014)
Students from VI-VIII class visited Haus Khas Lake in Haus khas lake, New Delhi to know our heritage. The activity was an initiative by ITIHAAS and school to empower students regarding their royal history. It is important to involve young minds and encourage them to respond to the continuous threats facing our world heritage. At the venue, the students wrote poems and slogans about this royal tank of water. They were encountered with the real picture of this lake made by Khilji Sultan Alaudin in 1316 and scarcity that the world would be facing in near future of such beautiful places. The resource persons provided samples of lake water to the students and our students checked the levels of Phosphates and Nitrates in the water. It was overall a very informative activity as our students realized the need to conserve freshwater. The activity was an endeavor to promote concern for preservation of World Heritage sites.
Visit to Agrasen ki BAOLI - (July 2014)
Students from VI-VIII class visited Agar Sain ki Baoli, New Delhi. Agarsen ki baoli designated a protected monument by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) under the Ancient Monuments and Archeological Sites and Remains Act of 1958, is a 60-meter long and 15-meter wide historical step well on Hailey Road near Connaught Place, a short walk from Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, India. The activity was an initiative by ITIHAAS and the school to empower students regarding their royal history. It is important to involve young minds and encourage them to respond to the continuous threats facing our heritage. At the venue, the students wrote poems and slogans about this royal heritage. They were encountered with the real condition and beauty of this place. The resource person provided the information about movie shoots at this place like“khoom barabar jhoom” to the students. Students checked the level of water and condition of this unique beauty. It was overall a very informative activity as our students realized the need to conserve our heritage. The activity was an endeavor to promote concern for preservation of World Heritage sites.
A visit to Sanjay Lake - (26 April 2014)
Our 17 students visited Sanjay Lake in Mayur Vihar, New Delhi on 26 April 2014 for Freshwater Monitoring Activity. The activity was organized by Natural Heritage Division of INTACH in partnership with Earth watch Institute India. The purpose of the activity was to conserve freshwater ecosystems in Delhi NCR. At the venue, the students were told about the importance of freshwater and need to conserve freshwater resources all over the world. They were informed about the freshwater scarcity that the world would be facing in near future. The resource persons provided samples of lake water to the students and our students checked the levels of Phosphates and Nitrates in the water. It was overall a very informative activity as our students realized the need to conserve freshwater.

Toddlers of St. Mark's family had the pleasure of enjoying warmth of the sun with the nature - it was a zoo safari, a perfect outing for our Saplings on the 8th of March 2014. They had fun watching the lion, tiger, leopard feasting on the fleash, bear munching, Parakeets chirping and singing, Rhino basking in the sun. The sight of a white duck swimming on the smooth surface of clean water was a wonderful delight. It was a fun filled day truly mesmerizing. Children were happy to see all those animals with their own eyes about which they read in books. This excursion was one of the school's intrinsic way of imparting learning. The memory of the visit still fills us with thrill and excitement.

Learning is fun when learned in an adventurous trip.

So did our little tiny tots of seedling classes of SMGS enjoyed their trip to the National Zoological Park and were excited to see and learn a live demonstration of food habits and little about habitats of scary yet friendly wild animals.from roaring king of jungle to sleepy crocodile, cleverly fox and jackel.

The rhyming sounds of "the elephant is so big and fat comes true in front of them when they saw Mighty indian elephant and Amazing Australian baby elephant.

They were astonished to see a friendly Jaguar waving hand to visitors as well as proudy giraffe soaring to heights.

It was an exciting and astonishing trip enjoyed by little ones.

As said by Saint Augustine, “World is a book and those who do not travel read only a page’’.

On 22 February, 2014 students of class 9 and 10 of St. Mark's Girls School visited the Red Fort at Delhi. The students belonging to various AEC projects like ‘Let’s Travel and Explore’, ‘Eco Heroes’, ‘Magic World Tour’ and ‘UNESCO Village’ were exposed to this splendid UNESCO heritage site. They visited the fort along with teachers, Ms. Anjali Handa and Ms. Arpita Dutta.

The Red Fort is an iconic symbol of Indian Heritage. On Independence Day, the Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the main gate of the fort every year and delivers a nationally-broadcast speech from its ramparts. It was a golden opportunity for the students to learn about their rich heritage. It was a very informative and educational trip.

Their memorable day started by watching MAD Show, a Magic Acrobatic Dance Show. The students enjoyed the beautiful acrobatics, dancing and a breath taking Maguc Show.

The students spent the first haf of their day enjoying various rides like Z force, Splash Dunk, Octopus, Space Rider etc. After they filled their tummies with a healthy lunch. Post lunch the students danced their hearts outs on the latest bollywood numbers. The students had a wonderful time in Adventure Island.

The school organised an annual picnic to Fun N Food Village for the students of Class I on 7th February 2014. The fun began with the refreshments. The children were full of excitement as they were enjoying the rides. There was an arrangement of delicious lunch for the children after the rides. Lunch was followed by a dance session, where the children were very enthusiastic since it also carried prizes for them. The winners were given the prizes. The day ended with wn ice cream treat to the children.

SMGS organised a nice excursion to Fun ‘N’ Food Village for the students of Classes II and III on the 6th of February 2014. The kids were accompanied by their teachers and had a fun filed day. Little girls started their day with a welcome drink and then enjoyed the rides. At 1 o’clock the girls greeted their taste buds with delectable food and enjoyed on the dance floor. Every girl participated enthusiastically in dance competition and won prizes. The day ended on a sweet note when kids were served ice cream. The picnic charged up the students helped them create some fond memories.

All the comrades were completely enthralled towards the swings and rides in the Adventure Island. The crusade enjoyed every possible ride including the splash pool and joy rides. Their feeling of pleasure was elevated on witnessing the magic show.

They enjoyed the sumptuous meal offered there. It was a day full of fun and frolic for them.

As the saying goes All work and no play makes Jill a dull girl, SMGS decided to enliven the lives of our little Jills of Seedling and Sapling by taking them on a day out to Fun n Food Village. It was a wonderful picnic as our little princesses enjoyed and were thrilled to take unlimited rides on their favourite swings like sun and moon, caterpillar train, boat ride, peacock train, merry go round, water queen etc. They all had lunch with their friends and teachers. They danced merril and also won prizes. It was truly a fulfilled trip. As they came back, they were excited and eager to share their wonderful experiences.

In today's world, we constantly hear about deterioration of cultural values. Our culture is our backbone,which is at stake now. To teach our students to value our culture, our school recently organised a trip to Sanskriti Kendra for class X on 21 December 2013. It helped the students to commemorate the glorious history and culture of India. The students visited the Museums of Everyday Art, Indian Terracotta and Textiles that are a conduit for the preservation and presentation of indigenous heritage, craftsmanship, aesthetic functionality and cultural practices.

The practical and innovative objects on display exemplified the exuberant imagination and aesthetic creativity of craftspeople from all times over India. The students learnt many new things apart from having an exuberant time.
Visit to National Crafts Museum - (18 December 2013)
The students of X standard of St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec. School visited the National Crafts Museum on 18 December 2013.This visit was organised by NIE. The Crafts Museum is a repository and a celebration of the handmade. At the museum the students were educated that making by hand continues to be a fundamental activity across India, and the abundant and diverse craft traditions have produced myriad objects of exceptional skill and beauty. The Crafts Museum houses some of the finest of these. Unlike most museums, which display dead or old or rare objects, this is a museum of living crafts. Through this visit, the students got to learn about the rich craft heritage of the country. They also witnessed a fabulous tribal dance based on folklore that are embedded in our rich craft heritage. Moreover, the even got a chance to buy a few things at the stalls put up by people from various states across the country. The visit was a wonderful experience, leaving the students yearning for more.

SMS Girls School - Trip to Jaipur (Class IV) : Click to EnlargeJaipur, the Pink City of India, is an extremely popular tourist destination of Rajasthan. Our school also planned an educational and pleasurable excursion to Jaipur for the students of Class V. The journey commenced with a comfortable ride in the Shatabdi Express. On reaching Jaipur, the students headed for the famous Jantar Mantar, built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. They not only learnt about the history of the observatory but also enjoyed the SUNDIAL activity wherein they learnt to calculate the time, directions etc. Then the group proceeded to the hotel- Clarks Amer, where they enjoyed their two day stay. After a hearty lunch, the students indulged themselves in shopping at the Bapu Bazaar. The day came to an end with the visit to ‘Chokhi Dhani’, a unique Village Resort that offers the blend of traditional and modern amenities in an ethnic environment. The students relished the delicious meal in pure Rajsthani style before retiring to their rooms.

The following day started with the visit to the grand Amer fort. They not only explored the historical facts about the monument but also participated in the fun-filled ‘treasure hunt’ activity in which the winner group was rewarded. The trip did not end here, the students got hands-on experience of block printing and Blue Pottery Art. The entire trip was planned and executed under the wings of Ed Terra educational excursions. On the whole, the students had a mesmerizing experience.
Visit to Modern Art Gallery and Teen Murti Bhawan - (19 October 2013)
Our school organized an educational tour to the Modern Art Gallery and Teen Murti Bhawan by ITIHAAS for the students of classes VII and VIII on 19 October 2013. The students had a nice time observing the tremendous pieces of art in the gallery. They even got to know about many great painters. The enthusiastic children saw many sculptures pertaining to the history of Delhi. The students glanced at different paintings like miniature, company paintings etc. Many activities like ‘Stand Like a Sculpture’ and ‘Exploring Different Paintings’ encouraged the students to showcase their talent.

A visit to the Teen Murti Bhawan was also a mesmerizing experience as the students got to know about the lifestyle of our first Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru.

Hence, this educational tour helped in enriching the knowledge of the students.

Our school organized an excursion to Ranthambore for students of Classes 6, 7 and 8 from 3 to 5 October 2013. This three day journey was a mesmerizing experience. Students paid a visit to Ranthambore Fort. There they got to know about the history of the fort and also about the ancient architecture. The view from the fort was breathtaking. The students also paid homage to Ganesh Temple. The Ranthambore Wild Safari was the most enjoyable part of the journey. Seeing animals like sambar, deer, nilgai, wild boars etc. and a large number of flora and fauna was a unique experience. It was drizzling all day long and this made the trip even more amazing and interesting as the weather became pleasant. The students were also shown an impressive documentary on wild life. On 5 October 2013, the students returned to Delhi with wonderful memories. All in all the trip was a great adventure from beginning to end.

Every year 1 October is celebrated as the International Day for Elderly. On this occasion, some of our school students visited the Godhuli Citizens Home with the aim of spending some time with the elderly there as our time is the most precious gift we can give to anyone. This visit was organized by Kesholoy - the school’s Eco Club. There the students’ participated in many activities. They played games like Tambola and Antakshari with the senior citizens. Also, the students had prepared a quiz for the senior citizens which they thoroughly enjoyed. Several gifts were given to the winners. Our students even danced to entertain the senior residents and presented them with small tokens of appreciation. The senior residents later sang bhajans and poems and also shared their experiences with the students. It was an enriching experience and the students came back with the opinion that - ‘Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.’

Students of class XI & XII of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School Meera Bagh went for picnic on 2 August 2013 at WOW, Noida. It was a much needed break for students. Enjoyment started as students boarded the bus. They sang songs, played games on their way to the picnic spot. As they reached the spot students immediately ran for taking rides of their liking. There were number of adventurous rides which gave them adrenaline rush. In the afternoon students were served sumptuous lunch which was followed by rain dance where DJ played music and students danced to their favourite numbers while getting drenched in rain water. Getting wet was a relief in hot summer of Delhi. Students of class XII were more excited as it is their last year in school, so to keep memory of this outing they clicked number of pictures with friends and teachers. It was a fun filled day which students will remember always.
Camp Anubhav, Shimla (28 to 31 May 2013)

School went for an adventurous camp to Camp Potters Hill, Summer Hill, Shimla from 28th to 31st May 2013. The camp was organized by an adventure based research organization, Rocksport. The students had a very exciting and thrilling experience during the camp which included numerous activities like trekking, rappelling, valley crossing, mountain biking, zip line etc.

Rocksport team consisted of highly qualified professionals who engaged the students in various workshops like ‘Wild life Observation ‘and ‘Samba ‘. Adventure there was positive and full of anticipation; it encompassed great energy and exploring the unknown. The learning-by-doing approach is beyond books. On the whole, the trip was a great success and all the students acquired new learning and new strengths in the wilderness.
Adventure Camp - (13 March 2013)
The Adventure Camp was organized at St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School Meera Bagh on 13 March 2013 for class IV-VI. It was a fun-filled camp which encouraged the students to participate in various activities like rappling, wall climbing, hurdle crossing and flying fox etc. It aimed at developing the physical and mental strength of the student. Food was served to the students, after the activities there was lots of dancing and game sessions for the students as well as teachers which included balancing the body on the chairs.
Visit to Career Fair - (30 October 2012)
The students of our school were taken to attend the Career Fair which took place on 30th October 2012 at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. School, Janak Puri. At the career fair, there were various stalls which were brought about by different institutions like Collegify, DQ School of Visual Arts, AAFT (Asian Academy of Film and Television), askIItians, Star Aviation Academy, International Institute of Fashion Design and Bird Academy. The main objective behind this initiative taken by SMS was to prepare the students to enter into the fiercely competitive world. These institutions aimed at motivating our students to strive towards excellence and to maximize their potential. A workshop was also organized where all these institutions encouraged the students to opt for the courses offered by them. The students thoroughly enjoyed their visit and also became aware of the various career options available to them apart from engineering and CA.
Visit to Nirmal Hriday Bhawan - (20 October 2012)
SMS, Girls School - Visit to Nirmal Hriday Bhawan : Click to EnlargeThe students of Kesholoy Club, accompanied by their teacher incharges Ms. Anjali Handa and Ms. Shruti Sharma, began their journey of community service by visiting the Jeevan Jyoti Home for the Disabled Children on October 20, 2012. Run by Missionaries of Charity, the institute is a part of Nirmal Hriday Bhawan, an organization founded by Mother Teresa in 1950.

The home was established to care for children with a range of disabilities, taking pains from feeding them to educating them. Our students spent time with these children and open heartedly distributed chocolates, sweets and biscuits to them.

They cherished the time spent there and learnt a lesson that life is not a bed of roses, and we all should express our gratitude to God for everything we have.
Trip to Jaipur - (10 to 12 October 2012)
The students of classes V to VII went to an educational trip to Jaipur entitled “Impressions”.

They explored Jaipur by engaging themselves in the various fun, interesting and educational activities throughout the three day journey. They visited the Jantar Mantar where they made their own Sun Dial and learnt the basic working behind a sun dial. Afterwards they visited Babu Bazar for shopping.

The next day students visited Amber fort. All of them vigorously participated in an activity that was a combination of photography and information hunt. This helped them to explore the various aspects of the historic fort. Afterwards they actively attended the block printing and blue pottery workshops. They made beautiful traditional printed samples by using wooden blocks and natural colours.

Later all of them enjoyed the evening at Chokhi Dhani where they got a glimpse of traditional Rajasthani entertainment and delectable Rajasthani food.

The third day students enthusiastically attended the Miniature painting workshop and the Puppetry workshop. Students enjoyed making their own miniature paintings. Also they got a chance to learn the making of traditional Rajasthani puppets. Overall it was a mesmerizing experience for them.
A vist to Denmark - (1 to 8 October 2012)
The students of our school, engaged in the AEC-NET Global projects were invited to Herfoelge School, Herfoelge, Denmark for a Student Exchange Programme. A delegation of 10 students of Class X escorted by their teacher coordinator, Ms. Anjali Handa visited Herfoelge and Copenhagen from 1 October 2012 to 8 October 2012. The main aim of the Exchange programme was to create awareness towards inter-cultural similarities and differences between Asian and European countries, thereby leading to a better understanding and appreciation of their own cultural and nation. This was achieved through various activities, discussion sessions and creative workshops held at Herfoelge School under the assistance of the Danish teacher coordinator, Ms. Helene Tind. The students got an exposure to the teaching and learning methodologies in European schools. The homestay programme of the Indian students with Danish families taught our students tolerance and discipline, and further developed a sense of mutual respect.

The students also got an opportunity to visit the famous Rosenborg Castle and Treasury, the Arch museum, Cafe Vivaldi, and take a canal tour of Copenhagen by boat.

The Exchange programme thus helped in strengthening our bonds with the people of Denmark.
School Picnic - Kingdom of Dreams (2012)
Our school planned an excursion to Kingdom of Dreams for the students of Classes VI - XI. The students were thrilled to see a spectacular world of un-paralled imagination which brought to them a blend of India’s Culture and heritage. Modern and traditional India and present Indian culture was showcased to the students in an entertaining format. The students were also taken to the Nautanki Mahal where Jhumroo, a musical comedy was shown to the students of classes - VI, IX, X & XI and Zangoora-The Gypsy Prince, the biggest bollywood show was shown to the students of Classes VII & VIII. The magic of Indian Cinema came alive in a stunning & electrifying on stage performance.

On the whole, the students had a mesmerizing experience in kingdom of dream.

Trip to Nainital - (30 May to 2 June 2012)
The students of class VIII to X went for an adventurous camp to Ayarpatta, Nainital from 30 May to 2 June 2012. The camp was organized by an adventure based research organization, Rocksport. The students enjoyed camping which included numerous activities like trekking, rock climbing, rappelling, valley crossing, caving, etc. Rocksport team, which consisted of highly qualified professionals, engaged the students in various workshops like ‘face painting ‘ and ‘sambha ‘. Through a plethora of workshops, services and activities, the team helped the students to redefine the parameters of learning and entertainment to a new level . On the whole, the trip was a nice experience and it made the students discover something new about them.
Visit To National Bal Bhawan - (2 May 2012)
Exploring and observing makes learning not only concrete but develops interest. Keeping the same idea in mind HT – PACE organized a visit to the National Bal Bhawan for class IV of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School. The teachers accompanied their respective classes and a group of approximately two hundred students was taken to the interesting museum on 2 May 2012. The visit was liked by the students as it incorporated the visit to the Aquarium with all the colourful fishes. After being charmed by the colourful water world, now was the turm to be bowled over by revisiting the historical events of India. Depicted in tabuleau forms, the events were exhibited chronologically starting from Ramayana to important events that lead to India’s Freedom from the British rule. It was an enriching experience for the students. Certain tableaus like the Vijaynagar Kingdom, Sati Pratha and Abdul Hamid’s conquest on army tanks during 1975 Indo - Pak War garnered special mention from the children.

Children were also shown around the place and their interest grew all the more when they witnessed various classes of music, dance, art, craft, clay modeling, puppetry, etc. taking place there. The enthusiasm of students even reached its peak when they were told that they could also enroll themselves to learn these special skills during their vacations. And as the hot weather was about to dampen the spirits, they again came back on track when they paid visit to the Magic Mirrors. Finally it was time to board buses and get back to school. But visits like this would always be welcome by students where they can learn while having fun.
A visit to Sunder Nursery and Humayun Tomb - (21 April 2012)
A few students of the Eco Club of our school, ‘Kesholoy’ accompanied by some students working in the AEC-NET Project like Go Green, Beauty and the Beast in the Forest, Windows to the Past, Picture It, Oops and Apps and Teddy Travels. Along with their teachers Ms. Handa and Ms. Garima visited the Sunder Nursery on 21 April 2012 as a part of the Earth Day Celebration. The students and teachers were accompanied by a gardener there who enhanced their knowledge of the flora around. Just opposite this beautiful nursery is the Humayun Tomb, a UNESCO world heritage site, which was our next destination. The World Heritage Day is celebrated on 18 April and a visit to this historical monument aimed at increasing awareness about India’s rich heritage among the students. This educational tour around Delhi truly served the purpose and made the students feel proud about their country’s rich heritage.
Visit to Botanical Garden (27 February 2012)

The plantation drive was on attempt to sensitize the tiny toddlers towards the importance of green environment. The little buds of Sapling planted saplings to make the place more beautiful and lush. The little ones also had a good time staying close to mother nature as they enjoyed the bio-diversity of the park.

They were excited to see the ducks in the water pond and thus had fun and frolic.

A picnic is a short trip for pleasure to a beautiful place. It provides us with much needed leisure. Picnics add spice in our life and refresh our tired nerves. St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School planned an excursion to Fun n Food Village for the students of sapling class on 16 February 2012. The young ones of Sapling were thrilled and excited. The air was filled with music and the shouts of children enjoying themselves. Children enjoying various rides like Express Train, Space Journey, Fun Ball, Caterpillar Ride etc. Lunch was served to the children. A dance competition was also organized for our tiny toddlers. Children danced to the famous Bollywood songs and sent back with cherished memories.

To give the new year an amazing start, the students of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School went for an educational trip in India’s capital city-Delhi as a part of the global projects namely – “Cosmopolitan Passport”, Hop on and Hop off and “Windows to the past”. It helped view different places in through a totally new perspective. The students with their teachers visited various historical landmarks of Delhi on 4 January 2012 to enjoy the enquisite beauty of Delhi. First of all the India gate was visited by the students. There the students got to know more about the India gate. There are 3 flags at the India gate. Each flag represents the armed forces of the nation. The red flag represents the army. The white flag represents the airforce and the blue flag represents the navy.

We also got to know about the height of the India gate which was MCMXV and MCMXX. As the republic day was coming we were able to see a glimpse of the republic day parade. Then we went to the Rashtrapati Bhawan. While walking to the Rashtrapati Bhawan we saw our parliament house, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Finance. Then we visited the Jantar Mantar. There we learnt how time was calculated through buildings designed by the Indian architects in the ancient times.

We really need to give a big round of applause to the ancient Indian architects who had very unique and innovative ideas to help our country make a mark in the global world. This helped to nurture the Cosmopolitan in us!!!!

School. Students learnt the history of the Indian Air Force. It was fun to see live fighter planes like-MIG, Jaguar etc. and the students also saw parts of the enemy planes and choppers damaged during the India-Pakistan war in 1971. There was a wonderful display of artillery, uniform and the achievements of Indian Air Force officers which infused a great patriotic feel in the students. This kind of an outing was a welcome change for the students.

Trip to Agra for Classes IV & V
St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School as per their annual calendar planned and executed an Educational Excursion to the historical town of Agra for class IV and V. The trip was planned under the aegis of Ed Terra students for educational excursions. A group of forty-five students were taken under the supervision of three school teachers and the school Vice Principal herself Ms. Shergill. The children enjoyed their journey till Agra via New Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi Express and on reaching Agra the children were lodged at The Hotel Clarsk-Shiraz. The children enjoyed their two day stay at the city of Mughals not only being an onlooker but they explored the historical facts behind each and every historical monument they visited, they were involved in every stage of the excursion being the explorers themselves. As per the excursion all the students were taken to Fatehpur Sikri, Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. The visit only left the children not only joyful but enriched with their culture and the Mughal era re-visited. All the children were yearning for more as they had a hands on experience of Learning by Doing, Reading and Exploring. On returning back to Delhi the group of students were enlightened a lot, looking forward to their next Adventure!!

One school organized an educational trip ‘Day In Delhi’ with Ed Terra. Students of our school were taken to Gandhi smriti, National Museum and Teen Murti Bhawan.

They were familiarized with the lives of the great personalities of our country. The fervent students participated several interesting activities which added to their knowledge and skills.
