Guidelines for Parents
Though a school can do a lot for a child, it cannot do everything. The home is the place where he/she gets first education and training in citizenship. It is the chief place where his/her character is formed and developed. School education indeed promotes the growth of personality and helps to discover and develop the qualities that are in the child. In order to secure all that is best in the interest of the child, maximum co-operation between the parents and the school authorities is necessary. The school desires to have your co-operation and your close contact with the teachers of your child in order to develop an atmosphere that is conducive to better and more effective education. This diary is one of the links which bridges the home and the school. It is an effective medium for parent-teacher contact.

Personal Information page should be carefully filled in by the parent at the beginning of the academic session.
»» Parents are requested to look into the school diary daily and see that lessons and home work assigned for the next day are done. Remarks made by teacher/school authority should be seen and counter signed regularly.
»» Your child should be encouraged to cultivate habitual cleanliness in all work.
»» Absence of your child from class for attending social functions is discouraged because it retards the child’s progress and reduces his/her interest in regular school work.
»» Children should do their homework by themselves. They should not be helped by parents or by tutors unless they really need it .It is important that children develop a habit of studying and working on their own.
»» Criticism of staff should be avoided in the presence of the child because it undermines his/her respect for the staff and the school. Should you have a legitimate complaint, please meet the Principal/Vice Principal and discuss it.
»» Giving presents to the staff or other demonstrations of gratitude or goodwill in their honour is not allowed.
»» Please do not send any gifts or eatables on your ward’s birthday, only dry candies/sweets may be distributed .Only Primary students (I to V) are allowed to wear casual clothes on their birthdays.
»» Parents are not allowed to see their children or meet the teachers during school hours.
»» Private tuitions are discouraged. Teachers of St. Mark’s are not allowed to take tuitions.
»» Children who are ill should not be sent to school to attend class or take tests. Once a pupil has come to school, he/she will not be allowed to go home before time.
»» As the medium of instructions is English, children should be helped to follow their classes easily by a certain amount of regular conversation in this language at home.
»» Please see that your ward carries books and notebooks according to the Time table for that day. No extra books are allowed.
»» Encourage your ward to take interest in studies, co curricular activities as well as sports.
»» Your child may have to stay back for rehearsals in connection with Cultural Programmes or other celebrations. Prior information will be given in such cases.
»» At times your child may be detained for extra classes after school hours or he/she may be called during holidays.
»» Your ward should be instructed to be careful about his/her possessions. There should be a name tag on blazers and sweaters. Expensive articles should not be brought to school.
»» If your ward is absent from school, he/she must make up all the work missed.
»» Inform the school immediately if there is a change of address or telephone number.
»» Don’t allow your ward to drive to school if he/she does not have a licence for the same.
»» Students should not purchase anything from vendors outside the school gate.
»» Rail concession vouchers may only be used for students of the school travelling from Delhi to their home town and back. Concessions should be applied for three weeks in advance.
»» Parents are requested not to interfere in the internal management of the school to maintain strict discipline. However, suggestions in writing are always welcomed by the management.
