Keeping with tradition, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh held a “Book Week” on 20 December, 2016 to enhance the literary skills and inculcate good reading habits in students.

Class I had story telling session with the well known author Ms. Monisha Gupta. Classes II to V had competitions such as ‘Talk about a fairy tale character’, ‘Story Narration’, ‘Coloura story book character ’, ‘Fun with words’ and ‘Make a book cover ’. Class VI spoke about their favourite books and authors’ while Class VII had a literary ‘Treasure Hunt’. Some students of Class VIII had a workshop with Mr. Ajit Narayan, the well known cartoonist. This was followed by the students ‘Making a Comic Strip’. Another group of Class VIII students participated in ‘Enacting a Proverb’.

There was a ‘Book Review’ for Class IX and Class X students retold short stories of famous authors while Class XI students had a ‘Quiz on Shakespeare’.

Renowned author, poet and translator, Ms. Anupa Lal interacted with the ‘Book Club’ members. The week long full of fun and learning ended with the prize distribution. Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal encouraged the students to be avid readers throughout their lives.

The event was graced by Ms. Devika Rangachari, a renowned author who inaugurated the event and also interacted with the students of Readers club ‘ Odyssey’. Following this was a chain of weeklong competitions and events.

For Class I, a story telling session was held with the well known author Ms. Anupa Lal. For students of classes II to V there were various competitions such as ‘Character Dramatization’, ‘Telling a Story with the help of hand puppets and Pictures’, ‘Word Power’, ‘Grammar Games’ and ‘Quiz on story books’ which gave wings to their imagination and at the same time focused on creativity.

The students of classes VI – VIII displayed their capabilities by participating in the competitions like handling interviews, creating book covers and reporting on television. Students of classes IX to XI took part in ‘Book Review’, ‘Questionnaire on Books and Authors’ and ‘Quiz on Literature’ and displayed their love for books. A Creative Writing workshop was also organized for a group of selective students of Class VIII and IX who got an opportunity to interact with Ms. Vaijayanti Savant Tonpe a renowned creative writer and an author.

Every year St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh organizes a “Book Week” to enhance the literary skills of our students and inculcate in them good reading habits. Keeping the tradition, Book Week for the session 2014 - 15 commenced on 16 December, 2014. The event was graced by Ms. Simi Srivastava, a renowned resource person and story teller. It was inaugurated by the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal. Following this was a chain of weeklong competitions and events. For the Tiny Tots of Class I, a story telling session was held with the well known author Ms. Simi Srivastava.

For students of classes II to V there were various competitions such as ‘Character Dramatization’, ‘Telling a Story with the help of hand puppets and Pictures’, ‘Narration of Aesop’s Fables / Panchtantra’, ‘Word Power’, etc.. Students of classes VI to VIII participated in contests such as ‘Treasure Hunt’, ‘Speak about an Author / Poet’, ‘Read Aloud’, ‘Making a Book Cover / Bookmark’, in which the students displayed their knowledge about books and authors and also their language skills.

Students of classes IX to XI took part in ‘Quiz on Books and Authors’, ‘Banner Making’, ‘Calendar Making’ and ‘Book Review’, which gave wings to their imagination and at the same time focused on creativity. Amidst all the competitions, the students of ‘Bookworm Club’ (Class IV and V) also got an opportunity to interact with Ms. Anupa Lal, a renowned author. The members of the ‘Reader’s Club’, ‘Odyssey’, had an interactive session with a distinguished writer Ms. Anushka Ravishankar. It was a week full of fun and learning, which culminated with the prize distribution ceremony on 19 December, 2014.
Book Week 2013 - (17 December 2013)
Every year we organize a “Book Week” to enhance the literary skills of our students and inculcate in them good reading habits.

Keeping the tradition, Book Week for the session 2013-14 commenced on 17 December 2013. The event was graced by Ms. Ira Seghal, a renowned resource person associated with the Times group. It was inaugurated by the Principal, Ms. Anjali Aggarwal.

Following this was a chain of weeklong competitions and events. For the tiny tots of class I, a story telling session was held with the well known author Ms. Ira Seghal.

For students of classes II to V there were various competitions such as ‘Making of a Book Cover’, ‘Telling a story with the help of props’, ‘Complete the story’, and ‘Drawing of a favourite story book character’.

Students of classes VI to VIII participated in contests such as ‘Treasure Hunt’, ‘Know an author’, ‘Mastering Idioms & Phrases’, in which the students displayed their knowledge about books and authors and also their language skills.

Students of classes IX to XI took part in ‘Quiz on Books and authors’, ‘Creating a Poem’ and ‘Script Writing’, which gave wings to their imagination and at the same time focused on creativity.

Amidst all the competitions, selected students from class VIII also got an opportunity to experience creative writing in an interactive session with Vinita Zutshi, a famous author and story teller. The members of the Readers' Club, 'Odyssey,' had an interactive session with the renowned writer Ms. Anushka Ravishankar. It was a week full of fun and learning, which culminated with the prize distribution ceremony on 20 December 2013.
Annual Book Week (2012 - 2013)
Every year we organize a “Book Week” to enhance the literary skills of our students and inculcate in them good reading habits.

Keeping the tradition, Book Week for the session 2012-13 commenced on 11 December 2012. The event was graced by Ms. Valentina, eminent script writer and a great storyteller. It was inaugurated by our Principal, Ms. Anjali Aggarwal.

Following this was a chain of week-long competitions and events. For the tiny tots of class I, a story telling session was held with Ms. Valentina.

For students of classes I to V there were various competitions such as Poetry Recitation competition, Character Dramatization, Show and Tell, Grammar games, Complete the story, Draw and Paint your favourite storybook character.

Students of classes VI to VIII participated in Character Dramatization, Quiz on Books and Authors, Treasure Hunt and Enact a Proverb, in which their linguistic and creative skills were showcased.

Students of classes IX to XI took part in Book Review, Mastering Idioms & Phrases and a Quiz on Literary devices and idiomatic expressions.

Amidst all the competitions, selected students from class VIII also got an opportunity to learn the nuances of cartooning with the famous Cartoonist Mr. Ajit Narayan. The members of the Readers' Club, 'Odyssey,' had an interactive session with the renowned writer Ms. Devika Rangachari. Selected students from class IX were privileged to have an interactive Creative Writing session with Ms. Vinita Zutshi, an eminent writer of children books. It was a week full of fun and learning, which culminated with the prize distribution ceremony on 14 December 2012.

Every year St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, organizes a “Book Week” to enhance literary skills and inculcate reading habits among the students. Keeping the tradition Book Week for the session 2011-12 commenced on 12 December. The event was graced by Ms. Kamlesh Mohindra, educationist and writer of children’s literature and was inaugurated by the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal.

Following this was a chain of week long competitions and events. For the tiny tots of class I, a story telling session was held with the well known author Ms. Kamlesh Mohindra. For students of classes II to V there were various contests such as 'Talk about a Fairy Tale Character,' 'Draw and Colour a Story Book Cover', 'Grammar Games', 'Build a Story' and 'A Quiz on Story Books'.

Students of classes VI to VIII, participated in contests such as 'Complete a Story', 'Extempore', 'Treasure Hunt', 'Enact a Proverb' and 'Create a Mini Newspaper' in which the students displayed their linguistic and creative skills.

Students of classes IX to XII, took part in 'Compose a Poem, Illustrate & Recite it', 'Book Review', 'Quiz on Books and Authors', 'Taboo' and 'Mastering Idioms & Phrases'. Amidst all the competitions selected students from class VIII also got the opportunity to learn the nuances of cartooning with the famous Cartoonist Mr. Ajit Narain. The members of the Readers' Club 'Odyssey' had an enrapturing interactive session with the renowned writer Ms. Vaijayanti Tompe.

It was a week full of fun and learning which culminated with the prize distribution ceremony on 16 December 2011. On 17 December 2011, parents were invited to witness the Art Exhibition and also attend the Book Fair organized by Scholastic India Pvt. Ltd. The Art Exhibition showcased the artistic talents of the students. The primary students' art and craft work was displayed at a large scale and there was an array of art work of the students of classes VI-XII which included Acrylic paintings, Charcoal Drawing and Paintings, Water Colour paintings, Poster Colour Paintings, Smoke paintings, Relief work, Glass Paintings. The exhibition very explicitly showcased the artistic talent of the students. It was evident that the students in the process had acquired knowledge about various painting techniques which could be so vividly seen in the display.

The Art Exhibition was appreciated by one and all. It was indeed a treat to the eye and the soul.

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, along with Scholastic India Pvt. Ltd., celebrated the annual Book Week from 13th December to 18th December 2010. This book week is organised with an intent to inculcate the habit of reading good books in students and encourage them to polish their language skills in English.

During this entire week an array of literary activities were organised such as Narration of Aesop’s Fables, Weave a Story, Create a Poem, Draw and Paint a Story Book Cover, Book Reviews etc.

The Chairman of the school, Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, the Principal Mrs. A. Aggarwal, Vice Principal Ms. V. Wahi and the Guest of Honour - an educationist and a writer of children’s literature Mrs. Kamlesh Mohindra, inaugurated the book week on the 13th of December 2010.

Story Telling sessions were also held by Mrs. Mohindra for the primary sections which proved to be a source of pleasure for one and all. Other activities that took place on the first day for classes I, II & III were Self introduction, Word power and Talk about a Story Book Character. Children of class XI made beautiful banners on the theme of reading good books.

On 14th December 2010, a Creative Writing Workshop was conducted by Mrs. Vaijayanti Tonpe, a noted author for the students of the reader’s club members of class VIII. Some additional highlights of that day were Grammar Games (class VIII), World of Imagination (class VII), Treasure Hunt (class VI), Quiz on Childrens’ Books (class V) etc.

On 15th December 2010, an Odyssey Meet was organised for the Readers’ Club members in which they had the opportunity to interact with the renowned author, Mrs. Devika Rangachari. This meet proved to be a platform for children where they could open up their minds and speak about reading good books. The other highlights for the secondary and senior sec. classes were Book Reviews, Turncoat, Quiz on 20th Century Books and Authors etc.

The Book Week culminated with the cultural programme followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony.

Ms. Deepa Aggarwal, a well known author of children’s literature was the Guest of Honour on this final day. Ms. Pritika, Branch Co-ordinator Scholastic India Pvt. Ltd. also graced the occasion. Ms. Deepa Aggarwal truly motivated the children to read books and discover how good books can act as mentors in their life. On this occasion, the Principal, Mrs. Anjali Aggarwal also encouraged the students to read as many books as they can and further congratulated them for being so enthusiastic in academics and other co –curricular activities as well. She also thanked the parents for being there and lending their unconditional support.

Book Week covered various colourful themes, from Safety of the Earth to praising of the Almighty, speaking about Unity in Diversity to the Spread of Perfect love in the world - St. Marks’ annual Book week celebrations came to an end amidst great show of spirit and energy.
