“It’s not the destination but the journey which counts.” We are immensely gratified to share with you all one such ‘journey’. Aishwarya Nagdev of Class XI-A wrote a letter to Bhagat Singh which has been published in the book titled ‘Unlocking Minds: Covid 19’. The book has been edited by Dr. Kanwalpreet who teaches Political Science to undergraduate students in Chandigarh.
The book is based on the idea of writing letters to those personalities who leave an individual in awe or in shock. It is an impeccable compilation of 22 letters written to inspiring personalities - varying from Hitler to Mussolini, from Bhagat Singh to Mahatma Gandhi and from Charlie Chaplin to Ruskin Bond. The students got an opportunity to pen down their beautiful thoughts, storming their minds time and again.

It has been quite rightly remarked by the German writer Eckhart Tolle that ‘Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.’ 2020 has been a year fraught with challenges, the foremost among them being the COVID 19 pandemic.
However, 2020 has also been a year to look back and reflect on the things that we are grateful for – the things that hitherto went unnoticed and unacknowledged. We have learned that we are stronger that we expected ourselves to be and inspite of various roadblocks, we still can be hopeful and optimistic for a bright future. Lastly, 2020 also gave us the time and opportunity to relish the simple pleasures and joys of our lives. Joy has, after all, proved to be an incredibly powerful companion during suffering.
On the lines of being in gratitude and spreading hope and joy, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Janakpuri, presented ‘GRATEFUL HOPEFUL JOYFUL’, the virtual cultural program that was prepared by the students of Classes VI-VIII.
The event was graced with the benign virtual presence of our Chairman Sir, Mr. T.P. In a nostalgic and emotionally charged atmosphere, Citation Ceremony for Class XII students was organised with great enthusiasm and zeal. In the beginning, the students were high spirited and overjoyed but as the event began to unfold, the realisation dawned upon them that the school they have been so attached with was going to be their school no more and this made them solemn.
The program started with the school song followed by giving away suitable appreciation and befitting titles to the students by our Principal Ma'am, Mrs. Alka Kher amidst the thunderous clapping and cheer. It was really heart rending and touching to see the students trying to veil the tears of separation behind innocent smiles. |
