The primary students celebrated the festival of Christmas and experienced the magic and wonder of this beautiful festival with the show – ‘Magic & Wonder’. The event was graced with the presence of our Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, Director Mr. R. Aggarwal, members of the Managing Committee and parents. The celebrations started with carol singing and the story of the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. It was followed by dances and ‘The Grinch who stole Christmas’, a musical play.
Kids get very excited about Christmas. Christmas parties were organized for students of classes I to V wherein they came dressed in their nicest attires. Many games were organized for the students and they also won exciting prizes alongwith the magic show. Santa Claus gave wonderful gifts to the children.
Even the teachers had a nice Christmas get together wherein they sang Christmas carols and Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal enlightened everyone with stories from the Bible. |

Our celebrations truly begin when we share our love with our less fortunate brethren. Our Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal spent time with the under privileged children from the neighbouring slum areas who are a part of Project Vidyarambh which aims to impart basic English language communication skills to them.
She beautifully explained the story behind birth of Lord Jesus and the true message of Christmas to the children. Our student volunteers handed gifts to all the learners who are a part of Project Vidyarambh and spread the festive cheer. |

Sector -14, Rohini, on 29 November, 2019 and won the FIRST PRIZE in Yoga. |

The 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first guru of the Sikhs, was celebrated with great pomp and show in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. A Prabhat Pheri, led by the panj pyaras, was taken out wherein the children chanted hymns in praise of the guru. The children also sang shabads. Some parents also came to be a part of the celebration. Our Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal gave her best wishes to the children and asked them to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Devji. Prasad was relished by everyone and children were also given chocolates. |

These are the lines of the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev Ji.On the auspicious 550th birth anniversary the students of Class VI and VII saw a presentation on teachings and life of Guru Nanak. Inspiring lessons and hymns from the holy book of Guru Granth Sahib were shared with the eager students. |

The celebration of Diwali the festival of lights, came alive at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh when the whole school wore a festive look with decorated pots, diyas and lanterns adjoining the reception of the school. Students celebrated Green Diwali and they were sensitised about the ill-effects of crackers. The Principal, Vice Principals and the staff of school performed Lakshmi Pooja to Goddess of wealth and prosperity. Diwali gifts were given to everyone. The celebration illuminated everyone's heart with joy and fervour. |

The month of October was celebrated as Rashtriya Poshan Maah. During this Celebration, various activities like Talk on 'Mother and daughter hygiene', bulletin board and painting competition etc. for different classes were organised to make children more aware about importance of nutrition, health and hygiene. |

A series of events 'Wonderful World of Literature' was organised by St. Marks' Girls School on 24 October, 2019. Many children from different schools participated in the events, but once again, students of our school made us proud.
The winners were :-
CLASS -1 (ENGLISH POEM RECITATION) - Teghjot Kaur Issar (I G) and Vidhi Pawar (I A) won SPECIAL PRIZES.
CLASS -2 (ENGLISH POEM RECITATION)- Tia Mahajan (II C) won the SPECIAL PRIZE.
CLASS - 3 (CHARACTER DRAMATISATION).
Team - 1 (Hiteshi Jain (III B) and Abhishree Tyagi) (III C) won the SPECIAL PRIZE while Team- 2 [Shiksha Jaiswal (III A) and Ayush Thapa (III A)] won the THIRD PRIZE.
CLASS-4 (SKIT)
Kaashvi Chawla (IV D) and Yohan Khera (IV D) won the BEST ACTOR AWARDS.
Class 4 Skit won the BEST PLAY AWARD too.
CLASS- 5 (POURQUOI TALE)
Team 1 [Mannat Sachdeva (V C) and Kriday Sharma (V A)] won the FIRST PRIZE.
Our school was adjudged as the BEST SCHOOL and we lifted the Best School Trophy. |

On October 24, 1945, 51 countries came together to create the United Nations, or the U.N. Its purpose was to promote peace and cooperation around the world. The event was to be observed by all member countries. United Nations Day continues to be celebrated globally, as part of United Nations Week.
Class XI-F made a PPT about the day and conducted a related quiz in all sections of XI. |

Diwali Mela was held in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh from 15 to 19 October, 2019. The organisations that put up their stalls in this mela were Muskan and Prerna Niketan Sangh.
Muskaan is a well known NGO for its pioneering work in the field of providing vocational training and work opportunities to adults with ID. Prerna Niketan Sangh is an NGO working with the Physically Challenged, A variety of items ranging from diyas, candles to muffins and chocolate biscuits were put up for sale for the students. Teachers and students gave their contribution and encouraged them by buying the Diwali products from their stalls. |

The 12th of October this year was marked by a grand event embodying history and festive spirit. Shubh Vijay was a tribute to the victory of Goddess Durga - The Divine Power that manifests, sustains and transforms the universe as the one unifying Force of Existence; and Lord Rama, the epitome of sacrifice, compassion, wisdom, values and righteousness.
Around 235 students from across Classes IV and V participated in this mega celebration, which began with a tribute to the mighty Goddess Durga, in the form of Devi Stuthi. This was followed by a series of dance dramas depicting the stories of Shiva, Sati and Parvati, Durga and Kali. The next item was what has been one of the long-standing customs in the celebration of Durga Puja, the remarkable Dhunuchi Naach.
A spell binding enactment of the Ramayana, the penultimate symbol of good triumphing over evil, was what awaited the audience next. The anchors provided some noteworthy facts before the dance drama commenced such as Rama's worldwide quest for lotuses, the price for Goddess Durga's blessing. The revered and powerful Hanuman Chalisa was the next dance performance that enthralled the audience.
The final item to conclude the day was a culmination of popular Navratri traditions, such as the Dandiya Raas which is enjoyed not only in Gujarat but across the country.
It was a fitting bonanza to signify festivals and the high spirits that come along with them. |

Teacher's Day is celebrated on September 5 every year throughout India in memory of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan on his birthday. After Dr. Radhakrishnan became second President of India, some of his former students came to him and sought his permission to celebrate his birthday on September 5.
Dr. Radhakrishnan politely declined their request and suggested them that instead of celebrating his birthday, it would be his proud privilege if September 5th is observed as Teachers' Day. Students of Class XII-B of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh observed this day by preparing a Power-Point presentation, followed by quiz which were shown in all the sections of class XIl.
'A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite imagination and instill love for learning’. Teacher’s Day was celebrated in the school with great enthusiasm on 4 September 2019. The celebration started with paying respect to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – the second President of India who was a great academic philosopher and one of the most well-known diplomats, scholar and above all a teacher. Our Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal paid her respects to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and addressed the teachers speaking about importance of teachers in our life. Our Vice Principals Ms. A. Gupta and Ms. R. Anand also addressed the teachers while some teachers sang songs. The celebrations concluded with a lunch for the entire staff. |

As a part of celebrating special days, Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated by the students of Class VIII-D of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Power-Point presentation was shown in all the sections of Grade VIII. Prayers were offered to Ganpati for his blessings and for happiness, peace and prosperity for all. |

Students of Class IV-E of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated Onam. It is the annual Harvest festival of Kerala and is celebrated to commemorate King Mahabali, whose spirit is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam.
Students prepared an informative board and apowerpoint presentation was also shown in all sections of IV. Students of IV-E also spoke about the festival in different sections of Class IV and were appreciated by everyone. |

The students of Class I of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public school, Meera Bagh presented an enthralling performance on the occasion of Janmashtami to celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna. Dressed as little Kanhas, Radhas, Gwalas and Gopikas children had put up a mesmerizing show depicting the life events of Kanha. A series of performances including the choir group singing, devotional songs followed by a musical ballet won the hearts of the audience. |

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated India’s 73rd Independence Day with zeal and spirit befitting the occasion. Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal, along with Vice Principals and Mr. H. K. Pandey, graced the occasion. The tricolor was unfurled in the special assembly. Thereafter the cultural program began with the school choir enthralling the audience with their patriotic songs. The highlight of the program was a tribute to our freedom fighters and armed forces through a ballet which urged everyone to value the freedom we have secured after a long struggle. This was followed by the panoramic presentation of different shades of our nation. Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal gave her special motivating message to the students where she made a special mention of Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Where the mind is without fear’ appealing to their nationalistic spirit.
Post this cultural extravaganza, the Investiture Ceremony for the new session was held wherein the newly selected prefect body and the editorial board was conferred with ties and badges. The Oath taking ceremony was led by the outgoing head boy and head girl. The principal wished and congratulated the student leaders and her words of advice were highly motivating for the students.
Last but not the least, Champion Trophies were given to different houses for their exemplary performance in different categories. Special awards were given to outstanding members of Nirman Enterprise, a St. Marks’ student initiative for the upliftment of women from the EWS category. The celebration concluded by felicitation of Ms. Preeti Sharma who has recently been promoted as First Officer NCC.
The event concluded with a pledge of making our country a place blessed with freedom, peace and unity. |

Mother's day is a special day for both mothers and children.Students of Class I of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated Mother's Day on 13 May, 2019 with great fervour and enthusiasm. Our little cherubims recited poems and sang beautiful songs to felicitate benevolent mothers. Mothers along with their wards participated in various activities like pot decoration, salad decoration, origami, paper craft, rangoli, dining table mats, pillow cover decoration. The winners were awarded and applauded for their creativity and hard work. |

As Rightly said by John Hoeven "On Earth Day, we celebrate all the gifts the world and nature make available to us. We recognize our complete dependence on its bounty. And we acknowledge the need for good stewardship to preserve its fruits for future generations."
Keeping this in mind various events were organised to demonstrate the support for environmental protection and all the events were based on the Earth Day theme 2019 that is 'Protect our Species'. Like every year students took a pledge to make a lifestyle change that would impact not only those within the school but also the community outside of the school. The activities included making masks of endangered animals on paper plate, designing a placard on endangered animals, spreading messages through paper lanterns, kabaad se jugaad, painting a goblet, making a replica of an endangered animal, poster making on "My earth my home" and collage making on "protect life". These activities were conducted on 22 April, 2019 and children pledged to continue their efforts till they could create an impact around them. |

The school celebrated the 29th Founder’s Day on 22 April, 2019. The whole school wore a festive look with beautiful backdrops and colourful flowers. A small programme was organised to commemorate the occasion, Parents of the Student Council members and the prize winners of Humming Bird Olympiads were invited to witness the programme. The ceremony began with the unfurling of the school flag by the honourable Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal. He was accompanied by the Director, Mr. R. Aggarwal, Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal, Vice Principals Ms. R. Anand and Ms. A. Gupta. Everyone sang the school song. There was a medley of dances by the students of Classes X and XII, which enthralled the audience. The Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, then addressed the audience. She welcomed all and gave a brief history of the school. She went on to congratulate all associated with the institution and wished the school the best of luck. It was followed by the much awaited ‘Investiture Ceremony’. The School Council members were bestowed with their respective sashes and ties. It was indeed a proud moment for all the office bearers. The oath taking ceremony was a solemn affair. The winners of the Humming Bird Olympiad received their gold medals, certificates and a tablet/wristwatch. Ishita Arora of Class XI received the ‘Student of the Year’ award bestowed by N.I.E.
The programme could not have been complete without the cake cutting ceremony. The Principal invited the staff members who have been with the institution from its commencement. The cake was cut by the Chairman and the Principal. A few students of Class I surrounded the table and it gave the event a bright and jubilant look. The programme came to an end with the singing of the National Anthem Hail St. Mark’s, Long Live Our School. |

Ambedkar Jayanti was observed by the students of Class VI-B of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Ambedkar Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti is an annual festival observed on 14 April to commemorate the memory of B. R. Ambedkar. It marks Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's birthday who was born on 14 April, 1891. Since 2015 it has been observed as an official public holiday throughout India. A presentation was made on it followed by a small quiz too. It was shown in all sections of Class VI so that the children know about this day. A board depicting life and achievements of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was prepared by the students which was very informative. |

On 16 February 2019, 'Jashn-e-Hindustan', the Annual function of the Primary Department of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh was held. This programme was in honour of the freedom fighters and to celebrate the rich culture of our Country.
The Special Guest of Honour Ms. Alka Sehrawat – Deputy Director of Education, Zone - 17, Chairman- Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, Director - Mr. R. Aggarwal, Principal - Ms. A. Aggarwal, Vice Principals - Ms. A. Gupta and Ms. R. Anand and the parents graced the occasion.
The programme started with Bharat Ek Khoj - a celebration wherein everyone witnessed the journey of India from Sone ki chidiya to the liberated India. It was followed by the invocation to Shiv that began with the Tandav Nritya and was followed by Mritunjaya mantra. India is known for its different cultures and dance forms. The students presented a foot tapping Bharatnatyam and Kathak classical fusion and a Sufi dance. Everyone was enthralled to see the dance drama based on Kalidasa’s, 'Abhijnanashakuntalam'.
Students from Classes I and II took the programme to the next level when they performed various colourful folk dances like Lavni, Chirmi, Kalbelia, Gidha and Bhangra etc. The finale which comprised of various patriotic songs invoked loud slogans of patriotism, "Bharat Mata ki Jai" filling the auditorium with a huge applause.
Finally the principal addressed the overjoyed gathering and everyone praised and applauded : 'Jashn-e-Hindustan'. |

St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated their Annual Day Function (SurSargam) with great enthusiasm and zeal on 12 February, 2019.The children of Classes I to V participated wholeheartedly towards the success of this grand event. The event started off with an orchestra followed by folkdances of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and West Bengal. The hallmark of the function was dance on the theme 'Women Empowerment' which was showcased by students of Classes IV and V. The children also sang various popular songs of Bollywood, Abba and Boney M. The parents left the hall with an energized feel, overwhelming happiness and with smiles on their faces. It was indeed a spectacular display of talent and fervour. |

Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated Basant Panchami, the festival which marks the end of the winter season and onset of spring. The school was soaked in the festive spirit. The students of Class VI commenced the celebrations with the pooja, invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati for seeking knowledge and wisdom. Floral prayers were offered to the Goddess. A small programme was presented by them which included a talk, a poetry recitation and songs. Dressed in the colour yellow the students enjoyed the traditional home cooked sweets. Our Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal gave her best wishes for the festival which signifies happiness and brightens up our lives. |

The 70th Republic Day was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur by the students of Classes VI to VIII of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 25 January, 2019. The students pledged themselves to upholding the honour and integrity, diversity and uniqueness that is ‘India’. The Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal shared her views and welcomed the distinguished guests, invitees and parents. She asked all the students to be responsible so that they can perform their role as good citizens.
The school auditorium reverberated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The students brought the stage alive with their passion and love for the motherland. The theme of the day this year was 'Rasanubhav’. Inspiring skits, a choir with foot tapping numbers and beautiful dances were the highlights of the day depicting the navarasas. |

As it is rightly said that Music is a simple law which gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to imagination and charm to everything. A show by the name of Musical Extravaganza was held in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 27 December 2018. In this event around 34 performances were showcased by the students from Classes VI to XI. Famous songs sung by Celion Dion, Elvis Presley and Rod Stewart, Daddy Yankee, Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift etc. were sung by the talented students. Director Mr. R. Aggarwal and Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal appreciated the efforts and performance of the budding artists. |

The Gift of Love, Christmas was celebrated on 22 December 2018 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, Vice Principals Ms. R. Anand and Ms. Gupta and the parents witnessed the Christmas function. The celebration began with the musical Nativity play which showed the amazing love of the Almighty who sent His only son Jesus Christ through mother Mary, born in a manger. The choir enthralled the audience with the beautiful Christmas Carols. It was followed by ‘The Nutcracker story', story of a young German girl, Clara, who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and his fierce battle against a Mouse King. Santa enchanted everyone with his dance moves.
Dressed up in nicest attires, children of Classes I to VI also attended the Christmas party. Various interesting games were played and the students won exciting prizes. The Magic show was greatly enjoyed by the children. The highlight of the celebration was ‘Santa Claus’ who gave wonderful gifts to the children. |
7 December is observed every year as the Armed Forces Flag Day in our country. On this occasion,the students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh contributed a sum of Rs. 7500/- to pay tribute to our soldiers for their courage, sacrifice and selfless devotion to duty towards the country. |

Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev ji on 4 December, 2018. A small procession was taken out by children of Classes I, II and III. The children of the primary classes sang shabadsand spoke about the teachings of Sikhism. |

Bookaro Literary festival, held in Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, was attended by thirty students of Classes V, VI and VII of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 1 December 2018. The students grabbed this opportunity to unfurl their talents in doodling, art and craft, painting and miniature model making. Additionally, they attended story telling sessions, workshops and puzzle games. The students also had a brief tête-à-tête with authors and illustrators from various countries. They participated with undiminished enthusiasm and revealed great zeal to learn. |

Diwali celebrations began with the fun filled activities with a hidden message of celebrating a green and an eco friendly Diwali. Students of Classes I and II enjoyed sharing the recipes of Diwali sweets with each other and students of Class II decorated traditional thalis for Deepavali Puja. Classes V and VI made 3D decorated earthen diyas. Students of classes VII and VIII gave message to their friends to celebrate eco friendly Diwali by means of posters and collages. Nukkad Natak, a Power Point Presentation, Anti Cracker Rally and a talk was also a part of the campaign. |

"Jai Shri Ram" - a grand cultural programme presented by the students of Classes IV and V of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh as a part of Diwali Celebrations, was a kaleidoscope of music and dance. The programme began with the talented young singers beginning with the lilting melodies of "Hey Ram" and "Mangal Bhavan Amangal Haari" - a compilation of some of the individual verses from the Ramcharitmanas.
After this, the children beautifully depicted the Ramayana in the form of a dance drama. Their splendid performance was complemented by their immaculate colourful costumes. The Hanuman Chalisa presented at the end was a spectacle in itself. The Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal was full of praise for the performance. She conveyed her good wishes for Diwali to one and all. |

Spreading the festive cheer . . .
Let's begin all things auspicious by spreading warmth in the life of our less fortunate brethren . . . this is the ideal which guides our celebrations.
Our Diwali festivities began with a Diwali Mela organized by Muskaan (an NGO working for specially abled children) and Prerna Niketan (an NGO working for polio afflicted slum children) from 29 to 31 October, 2018. Our students purchased diyas, candles, Diwali decoration items, pickles, spices and cakes from these stalls and thus helped out these NGOs. |

Durga Asthmi was celebrated with great zeal in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on
12 October, 2018. Children also performed the traditional dhanuchi dance and depicted Mahishasur Vadh. Puja was held, children recited the DurgaStuti and prayed to the Goddess Durga who symbolizes the divine forces (positive energy) known as divine shakti. |

The United Nations was established on 24th October 1945 "to save the succeeding generations from the scourge of war and related miseries" We at St.Mark’s salute the guiding principles of the world's largest peace keeping organisation by following its principles in letter and spirit. This year we organised a Model United Nations for Classes VI to IX themed Veritas Vincit. More than 100 students participated in simulation of UNGA and UNHRC.
Under guidance of Mr. Rohan Nagpal the students energetically debated on ways to curb trading of nuclear weapons in General Assembly and under able leadership of Mr. Vardaan Shekhawat the UNHRC highlighted the deplorable conditions of women and children in conflict zones. The delegates realized the enormity of the agendas discussed and suggested solutions to save humanity from the path of self destruction. |

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati. The festival is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Ganesh Utsav. The celebration started with the lamp lighting and aarti. The students of Class I chanted the shlokas and were also told about the life of Lord Ganesha and the significance of this festival. |

Grandparents are family's strong foundation. Through their love and affection they keep the family united so to honour them, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh organized ‘Grandparents day' on 11 September 2018. The students of Grade II presented a small show wherein they danced and sang melodious songs of their era. They even performed a street play. All the performances were applauded and appreciated by the Principal, Vice Principals and grandparents. |

The students of Classes IV and V of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh tied Rakhis to plants and took a pledge to protect them. The main idea was sensitising children towards plant adoption and continued guardianship. Children believed that trees are also their brothers and sisters and they should protect them. Students took the pledge - "I take this solemn pledge to be as green as can be, so that I can live a healthier and happier life and help saving the environment at the same time. I will also motivate others to preserve and protect trees for saving our earth and for coming generations.” |

We celebrate Teachers day every year on 5th September. This day is dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan-second President of India and a teacher. 'To the world you may be just a teacher but to your students you are a hero!' Students of Class V B of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh expressed their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers on this day by making a board, sharing PPT and promising to be good and disciplined students. |

Students of Class I of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated 'Kanha' the Janmashtami function on 1 September 2018 with great zeal and enthusiasm. The students donned the roles of Lord Krishna, Radha, Gopis, Gwalas, Nand Baba, Yashoda, Vasudev, Devki amongst other characters related to Janamashtami and mesmerized the audience. The event started with the Updesh of Lord Krishna about 'Uttam Bano Shresth Nahi' followed by the birth of Lord Krishna in Karagar to his Bal Leela's. Many group dances followed the different scenes depicting the life of Lord Krishna in Gokul, Holi play with Radha in Barsane and Raas with Radha and Gopis. Lastly the group dance 'Govind Bolo Hari Gopal Bolo' depicted the fact that whenever there will be dominance of malevolence 'He will reincarnate to destroy the evil and save the good. 'The programme ended with the Updesh of Lord Krishna about the 'Charitra Nirmaan' of the children rather than worrying about their future.' About 170 students participated in the event to make it a success. |

Raksha Bandhan is a special occasion to celebrate the virtuous bond of love between a brother and sister. To celebrate this special relationship, students of Class IV-B of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh conducted a special assembly. The students prepared a skit on Rakhi and performed it in every section of Class IV. On August 21, 2018, students of classes VI to VIII of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, MeeraBagh, participated in various activities hosted by Rachna Sagar Publications Pvt. Ltd. on the occasion of Sanskrit Day. Students of Class VI participated in the Lekhan Kaushal Pratiyogita and wrote Vedic hymns; those of classes VII and VIII showed their creativity in the Chitrankan Pratiyogita. Two students from each section took part in the events and expressed themselves on the given topics.
Submissions of Aanya Tandon (VI B), Divneet Kaur (VI F), Mannat Gogia (VII A), Madhav Verma (VII F), Ridhima Choudhary (VIII B ), and Krishita Garg (VIII E) qualified as the best. It was a great learning experience for the students; a great opportunity to build affinity to the Language. Our Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, and teacher coordinators were also felicitated by Rachna Sagar Pvt Ltd. Overall, the event was a great initiative. |

Students of Class XI-B of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated the Earth Day by preparing a thematic board which highlighted the need to protect our Earth and also focussed on initiatives taken by the SMS family like recycling, tree plantation and rain water harvesting unit. A powerpoint presentation along with a quiz was also shown to the students to mark the occasion. The class also presented saplings to Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal to reinforce the pledge to work for clean and green Earth. |

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated the 29th Foundation Day ... its 28th Birthday... On 20 April 2018 with great pomp and show. The school was beautifully and aptly decorated for the occasion. The function was presided over by the Honourable Chairman, Mr. T. P. Aggarwal and respected Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal. Parents of the newly ‘to be appointed’ Student Council had been invited along with a few parents of Class 5 students who had been awarded gifts by Times of India during a workshop held for these parents on 17 April 2018.
The function commenced with the unfurling of the school flag by Mr. Aggarwal. Everyone sang the school song with great fervour. Students of Classes X and XII presented melodious songs followed by a medley of action packed dances which kept the audience spell bound. Respected Principal Ma’am then addressed the students on this auspicious occasion. She spoke about the progress of the school and the contribution of one and all associated with the school. She invited Miss Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, an ex-student of the school who has been crowned Femina Miss Manipur recently and is going to be a part of Femina Miss India Contest. Nimrit thanked her alma mater for her successful journey.
Students who had won prestigious awards received the same from Chairman Sir, Principal Ma’am and the Vice Principals. The Houses winning the Overall Trophies in various categories were announced. NEHRU House walked away with the overall championship in Games and Sports, the overall championship for Bulletin Boards was bagged by SHASTRI House and PATEL House won the overall championship for Discipline.
The much awaited Investiture Ceremony was held. All the members of the new Students’ Council were bestowed with their respective badges. Last but not the least was the CAKE CUTTING CEREMONY. Some students of Class 1 were part of this ceremony. Ma’am also invited all the teachers who have been with the school from its initiation. Magical Moments – The Annual Function of Classes I and II of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh was organized on 22 February, 2018. Mr. Manoj Tiwari, a well known politician, singer and actor, was the Hon’ble Chief Guest. Among other dignitaries present were our school Director, Mr. R. Aggarwal, Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal, Vice Principals Ms. A. Gupta and Ms. R. Anand. The programme commenced with a rocking musical presentation by the choir group, who presented mellifluous songs. It was followed by the musical plays – ‘Snow White and Seven Dwarfs’, ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The confidence and the enactment of the little ones held the audience in awe. The show culminated with electrifying and scintillating dance presentations. The Chief Guest, Mr. Manoj Tiwari addressed the gathering and congratulated the children for their stupendous performance. The students who contributed generously for SOS Children’s Villages of India were also awarded and applauded for their noble act. |

The members of the Earth Savious Eco Club of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh had a workshop on making organic holi colours using refined flour, food colours, chandan powder and other natural things on 20 February, 2018. The colours made were bright, fragrant, non toxic and skin friendly.
The staff members too celebrated this festival with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal gave best wishes to the staff members and conveyed the message to play safe Holi with natural colours and avoid wastage of water. Thereafter the teachers played Holi with flower petals, natural colours and savoured the traditional eats on this occasion. |

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated its Annual Day – Dreams Unlimited on February 17, 2018. It was presided over by the Chief Guest Mr. Parvesh Verma (Member of Parliament), Mr. R. Aggarwal (Director of the school), Ms. A. Aggarwal (Principal) and the Vice Principals Ms. R. Anand and Ms. A. Gupta. The function started with the school choir enthralling the audience with their singing. The morning was made even more colourful with the exhilarating performances by the dancers. ‘Aladdin and the Magic Lamp’ also had some live wire onstage performances. The actors in the various dance dramas like ‘Shravan Kumar’, ’Padmavati’, and ‘Chandalika’ stole the hearts of the audience. ‘Finding Neverland’ and ‘Babes in Toyland’ took the function to another level. The school contributed Rs.4,92,600/- to the SOS Children’s Villages of India. The cheque was handed over to Ms. Shilpa Bisht (Vertical Head of SOS Children’s Village) by the Chief Guest, Mr. Parvesh Verma. Dreams Unlimited was appreciated and applauded by one and all. |

The main focus of Vidyarambh is to impart basic English communication skills, discuss significance of cleanliness & hygiene and community celebration of festivals. In the month of December, the student volunteers celebrated Christmas with their pupils by exchanging gifts and narrating stories associated with Christmas. |

St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh organised Umang - A celebration of Life, an event for the lesser privileged children of the society, on 23 December 2017. Around 100 children from the nearby localities participated in a range of activities - meditation, music, dance, art and sports.
Student volunteers and members of Atoot Bandhan, old students' association of the school helped in organizing it. Ms. A. Aggarwal, Principal, in her address encouraged the children and expressed her happiness for successfully organising the event. Ms. Aggarwal also gave away the prizes to the winners of the races as well as art competition. All the participants were given a gift hamper as a Christmas gift. |

The students of Class IV of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated the festival of Christmas on 23 December, 2017. The event was graced with the presence of Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, Director Mr. R. Aggarwal, members of the Managing Committee and parents. The celebrations started with Carol singing and story of the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. It was followed by the dances and Grinchmas - A musical play. Towards the end, the students performed on a foot tapping dance number in which Santa Claus appeared and created magic. Everyone joined in singing and dancing and wished Merry Christmas. |

National Armed Forces Day is celebrated on 7 December every year to commemorate the sacrifices done by Armed Forces for the honour of our country. It is mainly observed to serve 3 basic purposes – Rehabilitation of Battle Casualties, welfare of serving personnel and their families and resettlement and welfare of ex service men and their families.

In India, Children's Day or Bal Diwas is celebrated on November 14, which is the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of the country, who was fondly called Chacha Nehru.
Pandit Nehru, who emphasized the importance of giving love and affection to children said: "the children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country".
Fun and enjoyment marked the Children's Day celebration this year too. A lot of interesting activities were lined up for the students of classes I to V of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. They enjoyed animated movies, quizzes and songs. They spoke about Chacha Nehru. They got to learn more about Pandit Nehru and the importance of this day.

Public School, Meera Bagh reflected their feelings and ideas on unity by making a PPT and quiz that increased the knowledge of the students about the National Unity Day. A board was prepared and a pledge was taken to ensure that everyone will believe, prosper and promote the idea of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for unity in the whole world. |

There was a poster making competition for Classes VI to VIII on topics – ‘Facts about UN’, ‘Young India – Healthy India’ and ‘Safety and Security’ respectively. Classes IX to XI participated in ‘Inter House UN Quiz’. Class IX students participated in Mock UN on the topic ‘Strengthening Human Rights of Refugees’. There was a Power Point Competition for the students of Class X on the ‘achievements of UN’. Class XI students participated in the Speech Competition wherein they had to deliver ‘Speeches of various Secretary Generals’. |
Students of Class VIII F of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh observed 'World Hiroshima Day' which is celebrated on August 06 every year. This day is celebrated in remembrance of the victims of the atomic bombing on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 06, 1945.

A Diwali Mela was organised from 12 to 14 October, 2017 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh in which stalls were put up by NGOs Prerna Niketan Sangh and Muskaan Foundation. These organizations support and empower polio afflicted slum children and specially abled children. Teachers and school students visited the stalls in large numbers and purchased beautiful Diwali diyas, candles, agarbattis, paper bags, cookies, savoury items, pickles and spices. |

Mother Teresa has rightly said that Peace is something that brings a smile on somebody's face. So keeping this in mind on the occasion of the International Day of Peace on 21 September, 2017 activities were organized for the students of Classes Ito V of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh to sensitize them about world peace, non-violence, hope and unity.
The students of Class I drew the symbol of peace and decorated it by pasting crepe paper balls of different colours within the symbol. The students of Class II took part in a 'Poster Making' activity and made cut out of a dove by tracing the outline oftheir hand and drew an olive branch alongside and wrote amessage of peace. The students of Class III took out a ‘Peace March’ in the neighbourhood with banners and posters prepared to disseminate the message of ‘Peace and Prosperity’. The students also carried balloons in white and blue colour as symbols of peace. Later on the students also planted trees to mark the occasion in the school garden. The students of Classes IV and Vwrote poems and quotes about Peace. They made symbols of peace and pin wheels with words related to peace inscribed on them. It was an enthusiastic endeavour that brought their minds a step closer to a peaceful world. |

'Ramayana - Adarsh Samaj Ka Swarnchitra', a dance drama was presented by students of Class II of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 21 September, 2017. It set off with Sriram Stuti, followed by 'Sankshipt Ramayana',a ballet.Various well - known incidents of Lord Rama's life, like Sita Swayamwar, Sita Haran, demolition of Ravan's army by the Vanar Sena, victory of Rama, were depicted. It was a visual and audio marvel for one and all present there. It culminated with DurgaStuti. Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal greatly appreciated the enthusiasm, confidence and amazing performance of the students. |

Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated Hindi Diwas to mark the adoption of Hindi written in Devanagari script by the Constituent Assembly of India as the official language of the Republic of India. After the ceremonious lighting of the lamp and paying floral tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Vice Principals, Ms. R. Anand and Ms. A. Gupta gave their wishes to the staff members and appreciated them for the contribution they make in the lives of their students. Although travelling in Bucharest, our Principal also connected with us through a televised message, giving her best wishes to the teachers on this occasion. |

Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated on 9 September, 2017 in St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh with great spectacle and splendour. The celebration began with Ganesh Mantra to perform the Ganesh sthapana. The students worshipped Lord Ganesha and danced on the tune of Shree Ganeshaya Dheemahi. An enactment about the birth of Lord Ganesha followed by few more about the myths and stories about Lord Ganesha were performed. To keep the festive mood high various dances were performed in praise of Lord Ganesha. The most exuberant part of the festival was Ganesh visarjan wherein the students danced with great enthusiasm. The Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal addressed the gathering and concluded the celebration with the blessings of Lord Ganesha. |
Students of Class XI-D of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated World First Aid Day explaining the different medical first aid to be given at various emergency situations. They made a bulletin board depicting the above.

Students held a ‘Special Assembly’ in which they spoke about Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and recited poems thanking their teachers. A PPT on Teachers’ Day was also prepared by the students and shown in all classes informing students about the importance of teachers and Teacher’s Day. They made beautiful cards and gifted them to the heads of the school along with bouquets as a token of their respect and love. |
Parsi New Year was celebrated in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Students of Class VIII B prepared a board displaying history, significance, culture, customs etc. related to the festival. A power point presentation, prepared by students was presented to all the sections of class VIII on their respective smart boards.
This was followed by a quiz related to Parsi New Year. |
Students of Class VIII-H of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh conducted a class assembly on World Photography Day which is celebrated on August 19. The day aims to inspire the photographers across the world to share a single photo with a simple purpose: to share their world with the world. Keeping in mind the same spirit, the budding photographers of VIII-H prepared the bulletin board by putting up the photographs clicked by them. A presentation followed by a quiz on World Photography Day was also conducted in all the sections of VIII along with an interactive session where four pairs of students discussed why and how the day is celebrated. |

We celebrated the 71st Independence Day with great patriotic fervour and pride for the nation.
After the unfurling of the flag by Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, the students spread the feeling of nationalism and patriotism through a speech, songs and a poem. Then came a medley of dances which were a fusion of classical and western that invoked the Gods to spread the message of unity and peace. They also emphasised the importance of women empowerment. Ms. Aggarwal addressed the students ‘Freedom is not free’ and that all have to work towards protecting our freedom and taking the country forward. The celebrations culminated with the Investiture Ceremony of Class XI students and the Prize Distribution Ceremony with students who had won prizes in different spheres being awarded. |

On the eve of Raksha Bandhan, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh in collaboration with Fevicol continued to ‘Build Bond’ with our force. Students of our school participated in nation – wide initiative to honour the country’s soldiers by creating awareness about Kargil Vijay Diwas and encouraged children to make handmade Rakhis / Cards for their brothers in the Defence Forces, as a token of gratitude and love for them. We sent the Rakhis to Jawans across the country / in army cantonment with the help of Pidilite. |

Raksha Bandhan is a special occasion to celebrate the bond of love between a brother and sister. Students of Class IV-B of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh conducted a special assembly. The students prepared a skit on Rakhi and performed it in all sections of Class IV. In a card making activity the students made beautiful cards for their brothers and sisters. |

The National Tiger Conservation Authority, Government of India, in collaboration with the Global Tiger Forum (GTF), World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Wildlife Trust of India and partners celebrated the Global Tiger Day on 29 July, 2017, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. 80 students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in this holistic ‘project tiger’ programme which strives to maintain the stability of an entire ecosystem by fostering other trophic levels in the food chain, thereby ensuring healthy forest and clean environment. The occasion was graced by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Hon’ble Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India and Chairman National Tiger Conservation Authority. |

They shared information on Nelson Mandela and the significance of the day with the students of Class IX through a powerpoint presentation. The students highlighted the importance of giving at least 67 minutes of service to mankind to mark the 67 years of selfless service that Nelson Mandela did in his lifetime. They also conducted a quiz which was received well by the students. |
World Population Day was celebrated by Class XI-C of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 11 July, 2017. A Power-point presentation was shown in all sections of Class XI.

Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 8 July, 2017 with great fervour and enthusiasm by students of Class III. Ms. Suparna Krishna, a theatre and television artist graced the occasion. The function consisted of lovely songs, dances and a play ‘Idgah’. It was presented very beautifully by the students and they were appreciated for their efforts. The parents and the teachers cheered the students. |

The students prepared a board depicting the important events associated with the day like declaration of independence, celebrations, fireworks, etc. A PPT and a quiz was also prepared by the students. A Power Point Presentation was made and a quiz was also prepared by the students on the life and contributions of Rabindranath Tagore. It was a very enriching and informative experience for students as they came to know about various facts of Guru Rabindranath’s life. |

The students of Classes IV and V of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh presented a plethora of beautifully choreographed pieces during their Inter-Class Dance Competition on 6 May, 2017. They danced perfectly, effortlessly and in unison. The theme for Class IV was Folk Dances of India. The teams presented dances from the states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Gujarat and West Bengal.
The theme for Class V was Fusion Dance. A variety of dance forms like ballet, jazz, bhangra, Indian contemporary, hip-hop, stomping, Kathak, jive and salsa were performed by the seven different teams.
The winners of the Competition were Team from IV F (Bengali Dance) and Team from V E (ballet, jazz and hip-hop).
The Runners-Up of the Competition were Team from IV D (Maharashtrian Dance) and Team from V B (Jazz and Michael Jackson). |

Facts about The International Worker's Day were given to one and all through speeches, video and quizzes. Students of St Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School displayed their debating skills, acting skills and poetry writing skills in the Literary Fest organized by St. Xaviers School, Rohini on 28 April, 2017. The students who participated in One-Act play bagged the second position and won laurels for our school. Earth Day was celebrated with great aplomb and enthusiasm in the premises of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 26 April, 2017. The day started with a ‘Nukkad Natak’ in the special assembly conducted for senior classes. The members of Earth Saviours Eco Club went for a rally in neighbourhood areas where they gifted plants and staged a Nukkad Natak. The students spent the day doing activities related to the Environment. Students of Classes I and II spoke about any animal/bird whereas Class III students coloured a picture of a forest with wild animals. Students of Class IV recited a poem on Nature. Class V and VI students made a collage while students of Class VII did Poster Making. Students of Classes VIII and IX designed a newspaper ‘Environment Times’. Students of Classes X and XI participated in a Quiz on Environment and Class XII students became citizen reporters.
The students also had an interactive session with Mr. Arun Kanwal (Director, NGO - Creates Trust) and Mr. ArshMarwah (Project Officer, WWF India) who sensitized them about Waste Management and Wildlife of India specially Tigers.

The only way to stop this or reduce its impact is to raise the awareness among people across the world and create an army of global citizens who can fight this menace. In 1970, United Nations took this initiative and decided to celebrate April 22 as International Earth Day. Since then this event is celebrated across globe. Carrying the legacy forward the students of Class XI B of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh commemorated the Earth Day through a powerpoint presentation, a quiz and a small talk in which they highlighted the importance of protecting our mother Earth. |

With great fervour and joy St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated its 27th Birthday on 20 April, 2017. It was presided over by the Chairman, Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, Director Mr. Rahul Aggarwal, Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, and Vice Principals Ms. V. Wahi, Ms. R. Anand and Ms. A. Gupta.
The school flag was hoisted by the Chairman, while everyone sang the school song – “Hail St. Mark’s” with great pride and enthusiasm. The Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal addressed the audience and talked about the values inculcated by the school.
Her address was followed by a short cultural programme comprising of a short speech and a medley of dances that enthralled everyone and left them awestruck.
Students who have brought laurels to the school were felicitated followed by the giving away of the Best House Trophies. The Best House Trophies for Bulletin Board, Discipline and Games and Sports were picked up by Shastri House, Nehru and Gandhi House respectively.
The programme ended with the cutting of the ceremonious cake amidst a lot of applause. |
On 18 April, 2017, students of Class XI A of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated ‘World Heritage Day’. A power point presentation and a quiz was conducted in all sections of Class XI. It covered various aspects of world heritage like tangible and intangible cultural heritage, various world heritage sites, sustainable tourism – theme for the year 2017. A board was also prepared which depicted various dance forms, paintings, crafts, role of UNESCO, ASI, INTACH, ICOMOS. Students enthusiastically participated and took initiative in spreading information on world heritage. Overall it was a great learning experience. |

They presented a play based on the life and the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, his crucifixion and resurrection. The choir sang beautiful songs with excellent musical accompaniment that gladdened the hearts of all present. Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal narrated the story of Jesus in short to the students. |

Hazrat Ali’s Birthday was celebrated by students of Class VII A of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 11 April, 2017. Students of Class VII were shown a Power Point Presentation on details of why and how this day is celebrated followed by an interesting Quiz. A group of students talked about Hazrat Ali as the most respected and recognized person in the Muslim culture for his great work, courage, belief and devotion to the Islam, knowledge and generosity and how his whole life history has become a big influence to the Islamic history with the students during assembly. A board briefing the celebrations of this day was made and decorated by the students. |

Chhatrapati Shivaji is a hero not only for the people of Maharashtra but for those of India as well. Shivaji Jayanti is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on February 19.
This year, the students of Class V-G of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated the birth anniversary of the 'Father of the Indian Navy' and made every one aware of his contribution to the society. The students displayed a beautiful board on this occasion and spoke about his life and contribution, followed by, a vibrant and informative power point presentation about the same. |

Annual Function of the Primary Wing – Jazbaa – The Passion Within was held on 19 February, 2017 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. It was graced by the presence of Director Mr. R. Aggarwal, Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal and distinguished guests and the parents.
There were two shows. Each started with the dance performance, followed by dances on popular songs like Do-Re-Mi, Spoonful of sugar, So Long, Farewell, of the musicals Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music. Tasherdesh – a country of cards, one of Rabindranath Tagore’s operas was performed in the form of dance drama, which depicted an irony in the rigidity of the caste system after British. Brilliant ballet ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘Tarzan’ grabbed the audience’s attention. The little children performed various acrobatics, gymnastics, hoopla, stick dancing, etc. The story of Mahabharata and Abhimanyu was presented in the form of dance drama. The function was culminated by ‘Tribute to Parents’.
On this occasion, a cheque of Rs. 4,14,000 was handed over to Ms. Shilpa Bisht, Senior Manager, Individual Partnerships Pan India, for SOS Children’s Villages of India by the Director and Principal of our school.

Basant Panchami was celebrated with great fervour on 1 February, 2017. Pooja of Goddess Saraswati – the Goddess of knowledge, music, art and wisdom was performed in the school. The time of the year when St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh bids adieu to yet another batch of the outgoing Class XII students. The farewell was held on 30 January, 2017. It was organised in the school ground, which displayed a festive look. The young adults started arriving at 11 a.m., girls looking charming in sarees and boys looking handsome and smart in formal suits. The programme was chaired by Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal and Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal.
Ms. Aggarwal motivated and inspired the students in her unique way, followed by experiences of 12 years, shared by a few students. There were games in which the students participated and had fun. |
Chinese New Year was celebrated by students of class VII H of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 28 January, 2017. Students of class VII were shown a presentation followed by an interesting quiz. A group sang new year song in Chinese wishing peace and prosperity and talked about mythology, decorations, fireworks, reunion dinner, red packets, red dress, lion dragon dance and many more facts associated with Chinese New Year with the students of other sections.

The 68th Republic Day was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur by the students of Classes VI to VIII of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The students pledged to uphold the honour, integrity, diversity and uniqueness that is ‘India’. The Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal shared her views and welcomed the distinguished guests, invitees and parents. She asked all the students to be responsible so that they can perform their role as good citizens.
The school auditorium reverberated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The students brought the stage alive with their passion and love for the motherland. The challenges faced by modern India such as Corruption, terrorism, communalism, pollution, atrocities on women were depicted through the medium of song and dance. An inspiring skit, a choir with foot tapping numbers and beautiful dances were the highlights of the day. The mesmerizing performances enthralled everyone. |
The India International Centre commemorated the famous American baptist minister Martin Luther King Jr. on 17 January 2017 to make students of various schools aware of the revolution he brought about in the world. This social activist led the Civil Rights Movement and brought about a change in the conditions of the blacks in USA. The US Ambassador H. E. Mr. Richard Verma communicated with students of various schools on this ocassion.
7 students of Class XI of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh who attended this event interacted with the ambassador and also performed various songs and presented the famous speech by Martin Luther King Jr. - "I have a dream". King's last speech of his life- given by him just before the day he was assassinated- was also shown to the students. |

17 January, 2017. The focus was on the festivals Pongal and Lohri.The students wore traditional costumes and shared the related information. The students of class IV witnessed the programme. A bulletin board and PPT were also prepared on the topic 'Makar Sankranti'. The event ended with the beats of dhol and bhangra dance performed by the students. |
Students of Class VII F of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh conducted the special assembly on Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti on 16 January. Students talked about Guru Gobind Singh in all sections followed by a quiz. |
Lohri was celebrated on 13 January, 2017. Teachers gathered together and enjoyed eating Popcorn, Rewari and peanuts which showcased the spirit of Lohri. |

A special assembly on Christmas was conducted on 23 December, 2016 by students of VI G. The choir sang Christmas carols and told in all sections of Class VI the story of Christmas. A quiz was later conducted in all the sections. |

The Christmas spirit is in the air. The children of classes I to VI of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh welcomed this merry festival by attending the Christmas party in the school which was organized from 20 to 22 December, 2016. They were high – spirited and jubilant. They came dressed up in their nicest attires. Various interesting games – outdoor and indoor were played and exciting prizes were given away to the winners. Puppet show, magic show and dancing session were greatly enjoyed. The highlight of the celebration was ‘Santa Claus’. Children appreciated the gifts they received. Delightful and scrumptious food was served which was relished by everyone. |

A grand fiesta ‘Saviour and the Star’ was presented by the students of Class V of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 19 December, 2016. The cultural show began with the choir who enthralled the audience with the Christmas carols followed by an enactment and a nativity dance which depicted the birth of Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This was followed by a variety of dances on Gospel songs such as – ‘O God you’re my God’, ‘Mary, did you Know’, etc. bringing out the Christmas fervour. The Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal applauded the participants and conveyed her good wishes for the Christmas and New Year. |

Students of Class IX G of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated World Conservation Day on
3 December under the special day celebration series. The students prepared a bulletin board with the theme of conservation of nature and natural resources to be placed at the school reception. They presented a small talk and a power point presentation followed by a quiz on their theme in all the sections of IX std. to sensitize their fellow students. The students enjoyed both the presentation and the quiz. |

Children’s Day was celebrated by the students of Class VIII-F of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The students prepared a slideshow on the life and achievements of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. A quiz was also conducted in all the sections of Class VIII based on the various aspects of children’s day. The students prepared a board depicting the life of JawaharLal Nehru. |

Pathak attended film screeningsat the India International Centre. The films showed various aspects of environment and were an enriching experience for the children. |
St Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated Gurpurab with great zeal and fervour to mark the Parkash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The students of class VI-F prepared a small programmeon Guru Nanak Devji to enlighten the students of other sections about his teachings and tenets of universal brotherhood with great enthusiasm. The programme wrapped up with the students singing a shabad and distributing karahprashad. A power point presentation was shown in the classes. |
Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated the Constitution Day to commemorate the adoption of our Constitution on 26 November, 1949. A series of activities like PPT, Reading the Preamble of our Constitution and highlighting its key ideals was done. C.B.S.E. Guy Fawkes Day is celebrated on 5 November every year in many parts of the world. Students of Class IX E of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh prepared a presentation, which was shown in all the sections of Class IX and also conducted a quiz based on the same.

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh observed a Communal Harmony Week from 19 to 25 November, 2016 with enthusiastic participation by students of classes IX to XI. Students were educated about the importance of national integration and an informative PPT was shown in all the classes to promote communal harmony in today’s times. Finally, flag day was celebrated on 25 November. Funds were collected from staff and students to sensitise about the loss suffered by the families and children affected by communal violence. |
Guru Teg Bahadur’s Martyrdom’s Day was observed on 24 November. Students of Class VIII of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh prepared a Bulletin Board depicting his life, contributions and his martyrdom. A PPT was shown to all students of Class VIII. A talk about Guru Teg Bahadur’s life was followed by a quiz on the same. |

Keeping the above quote in mind the teachers of Classes II, III and IV of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh planned a fun filled day for students on account of Children's Day. The day commenced with screening of an animated movie in the class, followed by exciting games namely “Chinese Whispers” , ”Object - Charades” and ”Face-Charades” where children got an opportunity to express themselves. A PPT on Children's Day was shown in the classes and children’s songs were sung. The day culminated by ushering the students with warm wishes wrapped in greeting cards prepared by the teachers. It was a day well spent by students and teachers with great zeal and enthusiasm. |

Children’s Day was celebrated on 15 November, 2016 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh by
Class I. The programme began with a PPT on children’s day. After that the teachers recited a poem, sang children’s songs and even danced on some foot tapping numbers. The highlight of the programme was a skit in which the teachers enacted like students and presented a classroom scene. The children burst with laughter seeing their teachers performing. The whole programme was fun – filled and full of excitement. Last but not the least another icing on the cake was the gifts which the children received from their teachers on this occasion. |

Guru Nanak Devji’s birthday was celebrated with great pomp and show in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 15 November, 2016. The students of the primary section participated with full zeal. They came dressed up in traditional clothes. A small procession was carried out within the premises of the school. The little angels sang hymns in the praise of God and enthralled everyone with their shabads and kirtan. At the end of the celebration, Prasad was distributed. |

The students of Class X E of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh described the celebration of Chhath Puja on 10 November, 2016. A board was decorated by the students and apowerpoint presentation on the different aspects of Chhath Puja, its history and celebration was shown in all the sections of Class X to create awareness.

Halloween also known as “All Hallow’s Eve” or “All Saints Eve” is a celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallow’s Day. This day was celebrated by students of VIII-E of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 2 November, 2016. An informative board was prepared by the students. A PPT was shown and a quiz was also conducted in all the sections of Class VIII. |

Diwali, the festival of lights was celebrated in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh with full enthusiasm on 28 October, 2016. Spiritual significance of this festival was stressed upon in the form of Puja being performed by Principal Ms. A. Agggarwal, Vice Principals Ms. V. Wahi, Ms. A. Gupta and Ms. R. Anand alongwith rest of the staff members. This was followed by the ‘Aarti’ during which everybody seeked blessings from Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi for a bright and prosperous future. |

Geet Ramayan showcasing the auspicious festival of Diwali was performed by Class IV on 28 October, 2016. Children displayed the life events of Lord Rama from his birth till his return to Ayodhya in the form of a scintillating dance drama.
Parents of the students who comprised the audience were spellbound. The event ended on a happy note where everyone wished each other a very prosperous and a pollution free Diwali!!! |
The students of Class IV of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated Bhai Dooj in its true spirit and festivity on 27 October 2016.

A Diwali rally was taken out on 27 October, 2016 in the neighbouring areas of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh wherein children of our school shouted slogans and performed a ‘nukkad natak’ showing the importance of a cracker free Diwali. People appreciated the play and understood the importance of pollution free environment. As part of Diwali celebrations the Earth Saviours Eco Club children also showed a PPT about cracker free Diwali to every class from I to X.
The festival of lights brings joy to every heart. Class IV-B of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh observed a special dayand showed an informative presentation to all the other sections of Class IV.

Diwali festivities began in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Baghw ith a Diwali Mela from
20 to 22 October, 2016 in which stalls were put up by NGOs – Prerna Niketan and Muskaan Foundation which seek to support and empower polio afflicted slum children and specially abled children respectively.
Teachers and school students thronged the stalls and purchased beautiful Diwali diyas, candles, agarbattis, packing material, cookies, savoury items, pickles and even spices. |

UN Week was held from 20 October to 22 October, 2016 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Various activities were held. Class VI participated in ‘Facts of UN’, Class VII had Poster Making in which they depicted one Specialized Agency of the UN. Class VIII made a Collage on Organs of the UN. Class X had ‘Speeches of Secretary Generals of UN’ in which they spoke about a Secretary General and his contribution during his tenure. Class XI participated in ‘Quiz on UN’. Class XI also witnessed the talks on ‘Love and Peace’ which were given by guests from different religions namely, Acharya Lokesh Muni (a religious guru and a recipient of National Peace Award), Dr. Hanif Khan Shastri (a Sanskrit scholar who received the National Peace Award), Mr. Swaran Singh Sudan (General Secretary of ShivnagarGurudwara), Fr. Thomas Blessings (Assistant Parish Priest of Lady of Grace Church in Vikaspuri) and SushmaDidi (Director of Brahmakumari Centre, Paschim Vihar). They enlightened the students about harmony, peace, love, brotherhood as emphasized in their religion. Students of Class VIII and IX hosted SMS MUN and simulated the General Assembly on the agenda ‘International Terrorism with special focus on ISIS’. |
A special class activity on Valmiki Jayanti was conducted by the students of Class VI-E of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 17 October, 2016. Maharishi Valmiki was a great sage and the author of the holy epic ‘Ramayana’ consisting of about 24000 verses. Krishita Garg, Mahir Girotra, Kayna Leekha and Devanshi Gupta said few words about Valmikiji describing his early life, transition, contribution, teachings, etc.

India Eye International Human Rights Observer celebrated ‘International Day of the Girl Child’ on
October 16, 2016 in New Delhi with pomp and gaiety. On this occasion, nation-wide Painting, Essay & ‘Selfie with Daughter’ competitions were held. The subject for Essay competition was - “Give wings to the dreams of the Girls” and the theme for Painting competition was- “Colour the dreams of the Girls”. Both the nation-wide Essay and the Painting competition was organised in the separate age groups of 6-12 and 13-18 years.
The winners were awarded during a grand function organised by India Eye IHRO on 16 October, 2016. The winning entries were published in a newsletter released by India Eye IHRO on the occasion. 8 students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh bagged prizes and cash awards and were congratulated by the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal.
In the Painting Contest - Sparshika Goel(III F) won the I Prize and a cash award of Rs.25000/- ; Nitya Madaan (III D) and Prakriti Jaiswal (IV C) won the Consolation Prize and a cash award of Rs. 5000/-.

Students of Class VII D of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh conducted a special assembly by observing the special day of Muharram on 13 October 2016. Students talked about this day in the morning assembly.
They also explained the significance of this day in various classes. A PPT and Quiz on Muharram helped students of Class VII to understand this day in a better way. |

A board on 'Dussehra' was prepared and displayed by the students of Class IV-A. The students were shown a powerpoint presentation on the Great Indian Epic, Ramayana and the festival of Dussehra. A quiz was also conducted in the classes. |

Durga Puja was celebrated on 5 October, 2016 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The students presented dances depicting the birth of Goddess Durga and destruction of demons Mahishasura and Ravana. Garba Dance was also presented marking the occasion of Navratri. A well decorated pandal and Golus were set up. The special guests were the teachers and students from Klosterschule Rossleben from Germany. The programme was appreciated by all. |

October 4 was celebrated as the 'World Animal Day'. The students of Class IV-E of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh prepared a beautiful board and posters related to the topic. A PPT on the same was shown to the students. A group of students spoke on the endangered animals and the steps needed to be taken up to save them. It created awareness amongst the students and they realised the importance of maintaining the delicate balance. They even pledged to protect animals. |
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated by Class XI D of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh as its special day. Students were really enthusiastic in working for it. Two students of the class Moksh and Hardik Bharti showed a PPT in all sections of class XI. A quiz on Mahatma Gandhi was also conducted. |
Growing old is compulsory but growing up is optional.
With an aim to sensitize the youth towards the needs of the elderly, Class X students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated International Day of Older Persons on 1st October. They showed a presentation which talked about the factors that affect the life of the elderly and how we can bring about a positive change in their lives with some simple ways. This was followed by an informative and interactive quiz that also carried
information about the 60+ achievers. |
Students of Class IX-D of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated ‘World Alzheimer’s Day’ on 29 September, 2016. The celebration was a joint effort by the students which included a detailed illustration on the information board along with a power point presentation followed by a quiz on Alzheimer’s. The observance of the special day aimed at informing and sensitizing people about the fatal Alzheimer’s Disease which is becoming an increasing threat to mankind. |

International Peace Day was celebrated on 21 September, 2016 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Different activities were conducted for the students of Primary Wing i.e. Classes I - V. Students of Class I made beautiful dolls using ice cream sticks, wool colours and the costumes from different parts of the world and displayed them on the world map. Class II students did 'Wreath making 'using hand painted pastel sheets. Students of Class III made Dove frame and wrote a few words describing Peace. Class IV students made beautiful posters with slogans and quotes. Class V students went for a Peace March in their neighborhood area holding banners and posters with messages for the society. Students of Classes IV and V also sang a beautiful song, 'We need peace'. The students learnt the importance of spreading peace and love around them. |
Continuing with the series of observing and celebrating special days, the students of Class V-B of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh highlighted the essence of The World Ozone Day on 16 September 2016. The students presented a talk show on the importance of the ozone layer, and how celebration of this special day helped to increase awareness amongst people of the need to protect this layer. After this a small UNEP animation film "Ozzy Ozone" was shown in the classes. |

Grandparents make our lives a little softer, a little kinder and a little warmer.
Class I students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated Grandparents Day on 14 September, 2016. The children expressed their love and gratitude for their grandparents through poems, singing and dancing. They sang old Bollywood songs and danced on some foot tapping numbers. Some grandparents came forward and shared their experiences. They were very happy to see their grandchildren performing and applauded their confidence. |

The pious festival of Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated on 5 September, 2016 by the students of Class VI D of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The celebration began with a Ganesh Vandana, followed by the Ganesh Pujan. Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal and Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal did the Aarti. The Modak Prasad was then distributed in the entire school. Thereafter the students, dressed as Maharashtrians, sang a Ganesha song. They went from class to class and gave the students a brief of the festival and the rituals associated with it. A PPT on the festival, along-with a quiz was also shown in all sections of Class VI. |

Teachers Day was celebrated on 5 September, 2016 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. It began with homage paid to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and motivating words from Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal. Teachers also enjoyed participating and watching relay games, where teams of teachers were decided before hand and they were given certain tasks to complete. Talented teachers performed dances, songs and an amazing skit.
Everyone enjoyed the delicious lunch after the entertaining programme.

Teachers Day took a very different and meaningful shape with President of India, Dr. Pranab Mukherjee’s interaction with students and his address to teachers on this occasion.
Senior students intently listened to the live telecast on DD News. Dr. Mukherjee’s lessons on the history of Indian Politics with an emphasis on India’s development since independence and his lecture on the relationship between teacher and pupil added a new dimension to the Teacher’s Day Celebration. |

Major Dhyan Chand’s birthday was celebrated as National Sports Day by students of Class X C of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh with great enthusiasm on 29 August. Two students dressed as Dhyan Chand with their respective interviewers went to other classes to enrich everyone’s mind with some facts and memorable events of Major Dhyan Chand’s life. Then there was a PPT and a quiz. Happy National Sports Day ! |

The students went to different sections of Class VIII to share information about Janmashtami. A quiz was conducted and a PPT was shown too.

Janmashtami was celebrated on 23 August, 2016 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh with great zeal and gaiety by the students of Class I. ‘Krishna - the Musical’ was wonderfully presented by the little ones.
The various leelas of Shri. Krishna were showcased through dances and small acts. The vibrant costumes, dancing moves and small acts were a visual and audio treat for one and all present. Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal and all the parents greatly appreciated the confidence and gusto of the children. Prasad was also distributed.

As India entered the 70th year of Independence on 15 August, 2016, from 9 August to 23 August, 2016 the students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated enthusiastically in a design and paint a greeting card event for the jawans posted at the border stations. The cards were sent to the Jawans in Kargil. A painting contest was organized and the children also sang patriotic songs. |
The Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi, organized the "Sanskrit Saptah" from 16 to 22 August, 2016, as it does every year. The celebration of the Sanskrit Week included numerous activities like 'Nibandh Pratiyogita' (Essay Writing), 'Bhashan Pratiyogita' (Speech Competition), and 'Stotrapaath Pratiyogita' (Shloka Singing), etc., which encouraged the children to know the language better, and with more enthusiasm.
Six students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh : Sunakshi Buttan (VIII-C), Suhani Lakra (VIII-C), Nishka Olhyan (VII-C), Prerna Lohchab (VII-B), Rohan Bhandari (VI-H), and Ishita Sriram (VI-H) participated in the respective events that were held. |
World Photography Day was observed by students of Class IX C of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 19 August 2016. Students went to the other sections and made them aware of the importance of this day. A PPT was also shown in all the sections of Class IX followed by a quiz. It was an informative experience for the students. |
Parsi New Year, also known as Jamshed Nauroz was celebrated by students of Class VIII-C of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 17 August, 2016. Students worked together to make the festival known to all.
A speech was delivered in the morning assembly and a notice board by the students with information related to the event was displayed. A PPT about the life of Parsis was shown to all the sections of Class VIII. This was followed by Quiz which had questions based on their cuisine, calendar, religion, etc. |

Let’s salute the Nation and the tricolor.
This was the feeling all around when we celebrated the 70th Independence Day at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The celebrations began with Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, our Chairman hoisting the Flag amidst all patriotic fervour. Our Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal then addressed the students and emphasized on the importance of freedom and Independence and how we need to preserve it. She said, “Ask Not what the Country can do for you. But what you can do for the Country. . . On this occasion of Independence Day let us celebrate, Remember that Freedom is not Free, we have to work for it and remember our duties towards our country.” It was followed by a cultural programme presented by the students of classes VIII, IX and XI. A medley of patriotic songs inspired all to tap their feet which was followed by a speech that evoked love for the country. A Hindi poem ’Main Hindustan Hoon’ filled everyone’s heart with love for the country. The icing on the cake was an amalgamation of dances with children performing various styles like Bharatnatyam, Kathak and Contemporary proving once again that we believe in ‘Unity In Diversity’. |

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated ‘La Fantastic Francofole 2016-Get Crazy with French' on 5 August, 2016. 450 students of classes VI to X enthusiastically participated in this event. From singing, dramatising characters, enacting a play, dancing to some amazing French songs, reciting French poetry to participating in a multi media quiz,it was sheer joy for the participants as well as the audience for everyone really went crazy with French. A video highlighting the Indo French friendship was played which was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony where the winners of the Bastille Day Celebrations were felicitated by the dignitaries, Ms. Caroline Schmitt (Attaché for Cooperation in French Language) and Ms. Preeti Bhutani (Author and Professor of University of Delhi) who encouraged and appreciated the efforts of our students.

India celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas every year on 26 July in honour of Kargil war heroes who fought intruders from unauthorized occupation of Indian territory of Kargil and Drass sectors.
Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh are glad to participate in taking an initiative to honour the country’s soldiers by creating awareness about Kargil Diwas and making handmade Rakhis and cards for their brothers in the armed forces, as a token of gratitude and respect for them. The Rakhis and cards were handed over to 60 Brigade Infantry Cantt. |

Blanketing themselves with the colours of happiness and joy, the students of Class X-B of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated the Independence Day of France on 14 July, 2016. The students decorated the board with the tricolour of France. A presentation on the Bastille Day was shown in every section of Class X, followed by a quiz which the students found interesting. The enactment of the famous French personalities by students added glitter to the event. |

The National Day of France was celebrated in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 14 July, 2016. Various activities for Classes VI to X were conducted : “They say that greeting cards inspire creativity” - An intra class greeting card making competition was conducted for class VI. The students participated with great enthusiasm with each section given a different topic such as New Year, Christmas, Mother’s Day etc. Students of class VII participated in a poster making competition. The creativity of young minds was evident as they made stupendous posters on the topic “Bastille Day”. An intra class poetry recitation competition was conducted for students of class VIII. The young orators recited poems of famous poets such as Victor Hugo, Charles Baudelaire, Jacque Pervert etc. A quiz about French culture was conducted for the students of Class IX and X. |
Students of Class VIII B of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh observed 'Independence Day of United States' which falls on 4 July.
The students went to all the sections of VIII Std. to explain the importance of this day, the significance of the colours and stars of the American flag and how it is celebrated through a Power-Point presentation.
A quiz was then conducted. Students of the class also questioned each other and shared various fun facts and information on America.
It was a new and interesting way of opening up students to another country's culture and politics. |

A special assembly was conducted by students of class VII B on Rabindranath Tagore's Birthday on 10 May 2016 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. A PPT on Tagore's life was shown. Students talked about different aspects of his life.
They sang melodious songs from Rabindra Sangeet in Bangla. Students also recited poems written by Rabindra Nath Tagore. |
As part of the special day celebrations, Class X-A of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh paid a tribute to the Bard of Avon, William Shakespeare on 25 April, 2016 through different activities.
Famous characters like Viola, Shylock, Lady Macbeth, Romeo, Katherine and King Lear came to life as the students portrayed them.
A Power Point presentation was shown to all the classes which was followed by a quiz. It was a great way to remember this wonderful playwright and delve into his immortal creations. |

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated its 26th birthday on 21 April, 2016. The special day was presided over by Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal accompanied by Principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal, Vice Principals Ms. Veena Wahi, Ms. Anita Gupta and Ms. Ritika Anand.
After hoisting the school flag many students received awards for their accomplishments in various fields. It was followed by a cultural bonanza showcased by students of classes X and XII. They presented mesmerising classical, sufi and contemporary dances which were thoroughly enjoyed and applauded immensely by one and all. The cake cutting ceremony, which is an annual ritual was followed by the address of our Principal Ms. Aggarwal.
The most awaited moment were the announcement of the House Trophies. Nehru House received the Best House Trophy for discipline and it was a proud moment for Shastri House teachers and students as they picked up both the trophies for the Best House for Bulletin Board and games and sports. It was indeed a very joyous and enthralling day which left smiles on every face. |
The students of Class IX of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated Hazrat Ali’s birthday on 21 April, 2016. A presentation was shown in all the sections of Class IX based on the life and achievements of Hazrat Ali.
The students spread awareness about Hazrat Ali’s life to all the other sections. It was a great learning experience as students actively participated in preparing the bulletin board on Hazrat Ali. |
Students of Class VIII-A of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated Mahavir Jayanti on 19 April, 2016. Two students Aanya Aggarwal and Ikshvaku Rastogi spoke about the importance of this day in the morning assembly. 16 students (in the groups of 2 each) went from class to class (VI - VIII) to speak about the day. A Power Point presentation was shown in all the sections of classes VI - VIII. The students also decorated the board at the reception. |
On 16 April, 2016, the students of Class VII-A of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti. A power point presentation was shown in all the sections of VI, VII and VIII based on the life of B. R. Ambedkar. The PPT was followed by a questionnaire which the students solved. The topper from each section was awarded with a Certificate of Merit.
Other students of VII-A went to each section and spread awareness about the achievement of Ambedkar. It was a great learning experience for the students. From preparing the PPT, to decorating the reception board, their enthusiasm knew no bounds. |

To mark the completion of 25 glorious years of the school, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh organised ‘Jashan - A Celebration’, the Annual Day of the Primary Wing, on 13 February 2016. The two show event was graced by the presence of Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal and the members of the managing committee. Jashan began with live orchestra performed by the young, budding musicians followed by the Office Bearers presenting the Annual report highlighting the various activities and projects held during the year and the achievements of the students in various fields. The real Jashan or celebration commenced when the young students showcased their talent by performing scintillating dances on themes such as Celebration, Happiness, Being a Girl and a Boy, India and Freedom. Some of the greatest hits of the magical 70s and 80s - Abba, Grease and Cotton - Eyed Joe were also performed by the students. A fitting tribute to Broadway was paid as students staged musicals Shrek and The Lion King. The talent, confidence and enthusiasm of the children were greatly appreciated and applauded by one and all. The Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, thanked everyone for their support that resulted in the success of the event. |

Basant Panchami was celebrated in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 12 February, 2016 to mark the birthday of Goddess Saraswati, the giver of knowledge. Our Chairman, Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, Principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal and Director Mr. Rahul Aggarwal graced the occasion. Mr. Aggarwal lighted the lamp and paid his offerings to Maa Saraswati. Students of classes VI to VIII recited shlokas and sang songs in the praise of the Goddess which created a divine atmosphere. Prasad was distributed to everyone after the pooja and our Principal spoke words of encouragement to the students. |

On 23 December 2015, a Christmas programme, Jesus - The light of the World was hosted by classes II and III in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Students performed various dances based on Santa Claus, Christmas tree etc. The nativity dance was the highlight of the show. The Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, the Director Mr. R. Aggarwal, Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal and the Vice Principal Ms. V. Wahi along with the parents witnessed the programme. It was well appreciated and applauded by everyone. During the week Christmas parties were held for classes I to VI. |

The Constitution of India is an integral part of our heritage bequeathed to us by the founding fathers of our Nation. “We the people of India” are the trustees and custodians of the values enshrined in our Constitution. These are the sentiments expressed by the students of Classes I to XI of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh through a myriad of activities undertaken by them on 26 November, 2015. These activities included dramatization of life and achievements of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, banner-making, collage making, poster making and essay writing on the theme of Nationalism. Students were also shown a power point presentation entitled Constitution of India – a living document and the students took a pledge for the service of our Motherland to mark the day. |

Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birthday was celebrated on 24 November 2015 by the students of the Primary wing of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The students took out a Prabhat Pheri in the school premises which was led by the ‘Punj Pyaare’. The atmosphere reverberated with the shabads sung by the little children. The Kirtan was followed by Anand Sahib and Ardaas. There was serenity all around. Karah prashad was also distributed. |

On the eve of Diwali, Prerna Niketan (an NGO working with polio afflicted slum children) and Muskaan (an NGO working with differently abled children organized a Diwali mela in the premises of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh from 4 to 6 November, 2015. Colourful diyas, candles, gift wraps and eatables like muffins, pickles, biscuits and masalas were sold at these stalls. The students and the staff members thronged these stalls and made a lot of purchases. |

With festivities around the corner, the students of Class V presented a dance-drama on 19 October 2015. They left no stone unturned to mesmerise everyone with their beautiful performances portraying the snippets of Durga Puja, Dussehra, Navratras and Diwali.
The show was witnessed by an august gathering of parents and members of the Managing Committee. The efforts of the students were highly appreciated by one and all. |

UN Week was celebrated in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 15 and 16 October, 2015. The students of Class VI participated in ‘Know the UN’ activity in which they spoke about the various agencies of UN. Students of Class VII participated in Poster Making Competition on the theme ‘International Peace’. Class VIII students made a Power Point Presentation on ‘Organs of UN’. Class IX students had a Chart Making Competition on the various ‘Agencies of UN’ as well as ‘Know Your UN’ activity where they presented their views on various ‘Organs of UN’. Students of Class X participated in a ‘Quiz on UN’ and Class XI students wrote essays expressing the role of UN in the modern world.

The occasion of Gandhi Jayanti was commemorated in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh with a quiz on the Life of Mahatma Gandhi for classes VI to VIII on 1 October, 2015. The quiz covered many aspects of the legendary life of Mahatma Gandhi. The questions varied from his early life to the movies made in his honour after his death.
After the preliminary round, two best scorers from each house were chosen to participate in the final quiz.
The Quiz brought a smile on the faces of the students and the quizmaster teachers, as they saw some hidden facets of Mahatma Gandhi unfold in front of their eyes. |

International Peace Day Celebrations at St. Mark's School, Meera Bagh
On the occasion of the International Peace Day on 21 September 2015, several activities were organized for the students of Classes I to V to sensitize them about non-violence, hope, unity and bringing them closer to a more peaceful world. Students of Class I participated in a poster making competition, Class II had a Paper Folding Competition and Class III made Greeting Cards on the theme 'World Peace'. Class IV students went for a Peace March. They sang various songs on Peace as they marched with banners, placards, posters etc. The students of Class V were asked to collect information on how various religions have contributed towards peace and future steps which can be taken in today's turbulent times to reestablish harmony. The students made beautiful scrapbooks, newspapers, newsletters, collages, charts, ppts and even presented talk shows and skits.
Peace is the manifestation of human compassion. So, let's take a step ahead and unite together to make a powerful world. |

The children of Class I celebrated the earthly appearance of Krishna by presenting a mesmerizing show titled 'Kanha Ke Rang' on the occasion of Janmashtami Celebration on 4 September, 2015. They depicted Krishna in almost all the aspects as the most adorable, mischievous son and the most romantic lover. The little devotees performed various dances with full zeal and enthusiasm and enthralled all the parents and guests equally. It was an extremely devotional experience. |

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated the 69th Independence Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The celebrations began with unfurling of the national flag by our Chairman, Mr. T. P. Aggarwal and Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal followed by national anthem. Geetansh Sachdeva (IX B) delivered an inspiring speech remembering our leaders and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of our country and also at the same time encouraging the youth for devoting themselves for the service of the nation. This was followed by a cultural programme including a patriotic song, orchestra, contemporary and folk dances by students of classes IX and XI expressing their emotions beautifully at this proud moment. The Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal complimented the students for showing such patriotic fervour and inspired all to work for the betterment of the nation. |

Students of classes I to V of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated Raksha Bandhan with speeches and Rakhi making activity. A power point presentation was shown to all of them. |
St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh extended a helping hand to the Indian Association for the Blind by contributing Rs. 7,500 collected through sale of flags provided by IAB. It was a voluntary donation aimed at supporting the education and rehabilitation of visually challenged people. |

On 8 August, 2015, on the occasion of the Van Mahotsav, Principal of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, Ms. Anjali Aggarwal and Educational Supervisor, Ms. Ritika Anand encouraged the boy scouts to plant trees and told the children about the benefits of planting trees. There were 14 scouts (boys) and they planted saplings in the school premises. They were really enthusiastic while planting the saplings and also promised to take care of the saplings which they planted. |

Ten students of XI and XII along with teacher Ms. A. Arora from St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh visited India International Centre to celebrate Nelson Mandela International Day on his 97th birth anniversary on 18 July 2015. The event was organized by India International Centre, Gandhi Peace Foundation, United Nations Information Centre and Working Group on alternative strategies.
The programme began by the students marching from Gandhi King Memorial Plaza to Deshmukh auditorium. They saw a short film on the life of Nelson Mandela which gave an insight into Mandela’s achievements and his message - “It is in your hand to make of our world a better one for all, especially the poor, vulnerable and marginalized.”
Ms. Kiran Mehra Kerpalman, Director, UN Information Centre for India and Bhutan gave the message of U. N Secretary General –‘Ban Ki Moon’ urging people to make their individual contribution in spreading peace.
Shri. Satyabharti Pal, Former Indian High Commissioner to South Africa, addressed the audience with his memories of Mandela.
Prof. Ajay Kumar Dubey, Chairperson, Centre for African Studies, JNU & General Secretary, African Studies Association of India, also emphasised that Mandela was not just a leader of South Africa but a global leader too.
Finally, H. E. Mr. France Morule, High Commissioner of South Africa who described Mandela’s love for children and how he spent his birthday with children and also explained the similarities and differences between Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela. All the students had an interactive session with him.
It was truly an enriching experience to know about such an inspiring leader and his contribution to the society. One should also follow the similar of truth and possess zero tolerance towards inequality and injustice. |

Eid was celebrated by the students of Class IV of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 17 July, 2015. The Eid celebration began with with a Qawwali followed by a sufi dance depicting the devotion and love for Allah. The students then displayed the true meaning of Eid through a play. Principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal and the parents who witnessed the celebration were all praises for the lovely programme. The Eid celebration culminated by the distribution of Seviyan. |
St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated the birth anniversary of the Bard of Avon - William Shakespeare by showing the movie to senior students of the famous play, ‘Twelfth Night’, followed by a questionnaire based on the same play.

Earth is a reservoir of resources needed by humans to sustain life. However over a period of years, we have over used and exploited these very resources.
In St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh lot of activities were organised for children from Class I to Class X to make them more sensitive about our mother Earth. Children made butterfly garden and collage, paper bags and greeting cards with nature as their theme. Children of class IX and X participated in Nature Quiz and learnt facts about it. The Eco Club children also attended a workshop on Bio Medical waste by Mr. Mohit Bhatia.

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh wore a festive look on 20 April 2015 as it celebrated its silver jubilee.
In the special assembly, the school flag was unfurled by the Chairman, Mr. T.P. Aggarwal and all joyously sung the school song. This was followed by a cultural programme. Ms. Anjali Aggarwal, Principal, welcomed the Special Guests of Honour, who were Mr. Ashok Chand, Addl. Comm. of Police, Mr. Manu Malik, IT Commissioner, Faridabad, Mr. Jyoti Kalash, Res. Comm. of Nagaland, Mr. Pushpinder Kumar, DCP, West. Other dignitaries who attended were Mr. Tibor Kovacs, Director, HICC, Ms. Saima Syed, First Secretary, High Commission of Pakistan, Ms. Megha Srivastav, Head of Operations, High Commission of Malta, Ms. Livleen Kahlon, TERI, Mr. Dhirendra Bhatnagar, Sec. Gen., CUCAI. Members of the Managing Committee, the PTA and Old Students’ Association also attended the event.
The cultural programme had some scintillating music and dance performances by students as well as speeches and poems about the school. There was also a comprehensive exhibition showcasing various facets of the school. The programme concluded with a video that took everyone down the memory lane as the staff and management of the school spoke about their journey in the twenty five years spent with the school.
The event which was streamed live had around 36000 people from 12 countries watching it.
The dignitaries complimented the school for its good work in all spheres of education, while the alumni had this to say - “We are proud to be St. Markians. We wish the very best for our alma mater.” |
The festival of ‘Basant Panchami’ was celebrated by Class I with great zeal and enthusiasm in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Children came dressed up in yellow clothes and enjoyed yellow coloured food.
A decorated temple was set up and idol of Goddess Saraswati - Goddess of learning, knowledge, wisdom, purity, beauty and music was worshipped. The children spoke about the festival and recited poems too. An art competition was held on topic ‘Spring Time’ and prizes were given to the best budding artists.

66th Republic Day was celebrated with great vigour and fervour by the students of Class VI, VII and VIII of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Colourful dance performances and patriotic songs added lustre to the occasion. The speech was a solemn reminder of the great martyrs and their contributions to the country which infused feelings of dedication and loyalty in the young hearts. Certificates were also given to the students who participated in the Natural Disaster Youth Summit 2015 in Japan, and merit awards were given to Kunal Singh (VIII-D) and Dhruvika Manoj (III-A) who participated and won in Maxx English Wizard Competition and brought laurels to school.

The students of Class IV of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh presented a play on Christmas, ‘The Story of Christmas’ on 24 December, 2014. The children portrayed scenes related to the birth of Lord Jesus. The choir presented the carols which were enjoyed by all. Santa Claus and his reindeer danced to the tune of ‘Jingle Bells’. The students of Class I got very excited on the arrival of Santa Claus. The programme was appreciated by all.

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated National Education Day on 11 November, 2014 the birthday of the first Education Minister of India - Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. A series of events were organised in the school to mark the special day. Students of Class V participated in a Card making competition on the theme ‘Education for All’. Students of Class VI had a poster making competition on ‘Shiksha Ka Haq’ and students of Class VII and VIII had an essay writing competition on theme ‘Educated Citizens, Progressive Nation’.
Apart from this, certificates were awarded to the ‘parent learners’ who had participated in ‘PARIVARTAN, the school’s computer literacy programme’. The learners applauded the zeal and commitment of St. Mark’s family in imparting this education to them and shared their experiences. The parent learners of the ‘Teach India Program’ also shared their experiences. At St. Mark’s School, we endorse Maulana Azad’s view - “Education imparted by heart can bring revolution in the society” and are committed to realize this ideal by spreading the light of literacy among our country men.

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as National Unity Day on 31 October, 2014. The students of our school participated enthusiastically in various activities and spread the message of peace and communal harmony. In a special assembly the students took the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Divas’ pledge. A ‘Run for Unity’ was organized where in the students ran with the National Flag and the SMS banner and took a pledge to contribute to World Peace as individuals. Member of Legislative Assembly Mr. Manoj Shokeen was Special Guest of Honour whoflagged off the run. The students of class VI and VII made colourful and innovative posters on the topic ‘Unity and Integrity’. An inspiring documentary on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was also shown to the students of class V to X. A beautiful rangoli was also designed by the students showing Sardar Patel’s contribution in the Indian independence struggle. Manav Prabhakar (IX C) also participated in an online C.B.S.E. quiz on Sardar Patel and won second prize. Sardar Patel, also known as the ‘Iron Man of India’ lives in a million of hearts and will continue to do so. |

To celebrate the festival of Diwali, the students of Class III of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh presented Sankshipt Ramayan on 21 October, 2014. The guests of honour were our Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, Principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal, Vice - Principal Ms. Veena Wahi, the Member of Legislative Assembly Mr. Manoj Shokeen and parents. The students enacted the story of Lord Ram, from his birth to Ravan Vadh and sent across the message of victory of good over evil. Everyone was enthralled by the performance. It concluded with two dances and the message of Happy and Safe Diwali. |

The earth saviours eco club children of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh went for an anti cracker rally in the neighbourhood area. They distributed pamphlets, and shouted slogans, urging people to have an eco friendly cracker less Diwali. Other than this senior children of classes IX and X went to the classes and told the children about lighting earthen diyas and wasting less electricity. If we use Indian products the working Indian class will be benefitted.
A power point presentation was uploaded and was shown to the children about the perils of bursting crackers. A diya decoration competition was also held for VI, VII and VIII.

Prerna Niketan, an NGO dedicated to polio afflicted slum children and Muskaan, an NGO working for the benefit of differently abled children organized Diwali stalls at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh from 15 to 17 October, 2014. Range of products including diyas, candles, spices and eatables like homemade cakes, biscuits, pickles and savoury items were sold at these NGO counters. Students as well as teachers flocked to these stalls for Diwali shopping. The roaring sale of the products made by NGO brought festive cheer among our less fortunate brethren. |

Before the Autumn break started, Class II of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh had an activity on 30 September, 2014 about Dussehra. The students were told why is Dussehra celebrated and how ? The children were asked to draw a scene depicting Dussehra. The students drew a scene with effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnad. Students enjoyed the activity a lot. They were happy to draw and colour. |

The Independence Day of our country was celebrated with gaiety and patriotic fervour at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, MeeraBagh.
After the hoisting of the national flag by the Principal of the school, the students of classes XI-C and XI-D presented a patriotic song which was followed by speech. An elegant Sufi dance performance was also presented. Then, the principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal addressed the students and encouraged them to be more patriotic and to realize their duties towards their country. This was followed by the Investiture Ceremony. |

Students of Class I of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated Janmashtami on 14 August, 2014 with religious fervour and zest. They presented a mesmerizing stage event depicting the birth of Lord Krishna, his early childhood pranks, his immense love with Radha. 'RaasLeela' was a visual treat for all present there. Aarti was performed with great devotion by one and all. Prasad was also distributed. Our Principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal appreciated the captivating performance of the little ones. At the end 'Bhajan Recital' was done by the students o fClass V. |
For the first time in 2014, schools affiliated to CBSE celebrated Sanskrit Week from August 7 to August 13, 2014 in an experimental manner by conducting activities connected to the real world. This celebration in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh encouraged linguistic creativity among students & provided them an opportunity to benefit from the systematic structure of Sanskrit language.
The activities included :
LAGHUBHASHANAM in which 36 students of secondary classes delivered short speeches on topicssuch as ‘Krodh’ (Anger), ‘Anushasanam’ (Discipline), and ‘Bharatiya Sanskriti’ (Indian Culture). Out of 36, 19 students’ performances were selected and sent to CBSE for the National Level Competition.

In KAVITA RACHNA : 25 students composed poems in Sanskrit on different themes, including those like ‘Vasanta Ritu’, ‘Maatul Chandra’, & ‘Vrikshaan Ropayat’, etc.The students efforts were commendable.The best poem by Muskan Shah of class X-A was selected and sent to CBSE.
In SANSKRIT SHLOKA ANTYAKSHARI was a recitation competition for middle classes by employing various interesting methods such as Shloka Antyakshari. The students enjoyed themselves as it was a great learning experience. A video of the same was sent to CBSE.
MOVIE SCREENING - The Week ended with the screening of a Sanskrit film, i.e. AADI SHANKARACHARYA (with subtitles in English) for students of class VIII in the school.
Overall, the students had a wonderful time learning Sanskrit. |

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh organized ‘Célébration de France - Celebrating France’ on 8 of August 2014. The objective of the event was to make the students appreciate the French culture and people. The Special Guest of Honour for the day was Mr. Jean-Yves GILLON, Attaché for Cooperation in Education, Embassy of France in India.
The students dramatized various famous characters such as Marie Curie, Francois Hollande, Victor Hugo, etc. A play in French by Molière 'Le Bourgeois gentilhomme' was also presented. An Inter - House group singing competition followed which was won by Nehru house while six teams participated in a multi media quiz on French culture and civilization. The team ‘Maupassant’ won the first prize followed by team ‘Zola’. The judges Ms. Jasmine Rajpal and Ms. Babusha Verma, Professors in French from Delhi University appreciated the performance of the students and efforts of the teachers.
The Special Guest of Honour Mr. Jean-Yves GILLON remarked in his address - ‘It is good to see young people learning French. Even if you make mistakes in pronunciation or grammar, do not give up on communicating for it is essential to learn at least two foreign languages in today’s world’. It was a very enriching day for the participants as well as the audience.

On 17 April, 2014, Good Friday was celebrated by the students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The students of Class V presented a musical play depicting the miracles performed by Lord Jesus Christ followed by the plot to have him arrested and finally the crucifixion of the Son of God to save mankind. The play was witnessed by the Principal, Vice Principal and Parents. The message of God’s love for mankind was applauded by one and all. |

The primary wing of St. Mark's School, Meera Bagh organised a mesmerising concert - One World. The event was an amalgamation of the various dance forms across the world with around 325 students participating in it.
On one hand,the students performed Korean Fan Dance,Thai Dance, Eldorado - South American dance while, on the other hand,the audience was treated to some lost dance forms of India such as Chirmi, Ghode Modne, Singhi Chham, Karagam etc.
The show also saw the school choir spreading the message of Peace & Harmony through their rendition of some beautiful songs and the students performing the famous 'Jungle Book'. The highlight of the event was the dance - 'Thousand hands of Buddha' depicting the Buddhist story of Avalokteshwara.
The event came to a close with a glittering award ceremony for the year 2013 - 2014 with students receiving awards for their performances in various categories - regularity, neatness, all round performance, avid reader being just a few.
As the parents commented later, "a magnificent show put up by the school, kudos to the students, staff and management of the school for such a wonderful programme."

Basant Panchami was celebrated at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, by students of class I, on 4 February 2014. Children were beautifully dressed up in bright yellow coloured clothes. Songs on ‘spring season’ were sung in the classes. An art competition was organized for the children in the playground on the topic “Nature”.
The little ones let their imagination go wild and drew beautiful pictures. The best one’s were given prizes. Even the teachers were dressed up in yellow clothes and the whole atmosphere looked bright and vibrant. A beautiful temple was decorated at the reception with yellow marigold garlands and Goddess Saraswati was worshipped by the Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal. The children also participated in the pooja ceremony.

Republic Day celebrations at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, began with the flag hoisting by the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal, who was accompanied with our Special Guest from Italy Dr. Milly Paladin along with an eight member student delegation from Marco Belli School, Italy. The colourful and patriotic presentation by students was real feast for our head and heart. The musical treat, the patriotic song, and varied dance performances brought forward the essence and spirit of Indianess. Students expressed their resolution to fight against the global issues like gender bias and drug addiction through their dance gestures. The celebration culminated with an exchange of mementos between Ms. Anjali Aggarwal and Dr. Milly Paladin from Marco Belli School, Italy.
Republic Day celebrations were held in the primary wing of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, with great enthusiasm. Classes I to V performed various activities wherein Power Point Presentations were shown, Quizzes were conducted and few patriotic songs were taught to the students. All the students took part in Pedilite Workshops conducted on the theme ‘Wear your flag’ with great zeal and excitement. |
The much awaited winter Carnival of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, finally unfolded on the 27 December 2013. The Carnival was organized by the students of classes VI to X with great enthusiasm, fun and frolic. The day was indeed a fun-filled one with mouthful of eats, games, exciting prizes and above all rides and music. Games stalls included Lucky Seven, Horse Race, Pull the String, Matka, Match the colour, Lucky Dip, Know the World and many more. A very special segment known as ‘Santa Stall’ catering to the interest of the kids was put up. Kids could be seen pestering their parents and hovering around this area throughout the day for getting attractive gifts from Santa. They also had loads of fun at their favourite rides like ‘Columbus’ and ‘Giant Wheel’. Children enjoyed dancing to the tunes of all the new and old Bollywood numbers and also dedicating their songs to their dear ones. To top it all was an array of mouthwatering eateries beckoning the crowd. From street food of Delhi to south Indian and Chinese food, all were relished by one and all. The carnival concluded with a Ruffle Draw. It was indeed a great way to end the year 2013. |
Christmas is the time to rejoice, time to give and share. Once again, St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, witnessed a wonderful day, a day wherein the students of class V presented ‘Nativity Play’ on the birth of Jesus Christ. Amidst dance and music the students depicted the prophecy of Archangel, the birth of Jesus and the arrival of wise men from the East to bless the little Jesus. Santa arrived towards the end, on a sledge driven by his reindeer. Little elves from class II also accompanied him. The students of class I dressed as Christmas trees danced on ‘I’m the happiest Christmas tree’ and the students of class IV danced on ‘Felize Navidad.’ The choir further enlivened the atmosphere. The entire programme was highly appreciated by the Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal and all the parents. |

In a glittering event SMS Talkies, St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, showcased the evolution of Indian Cinema and also paid rich tributes to the genius of the various directors & music directors from the show business who have become an integral part of our lives. The Chief Guest for the evening was Lalit Pandit, the famous Music Director known for his hits in movies like ‘Haule’, ‘Beshararam’ etc.
The event saw enactments, music and dances from yesteryears to the contemporary period. Around 450 students of Classes VI to XI participated in the fun filled event. During the three hour show, the SMS orchestra played and sang melodious numbers to pay tributes to music directors like Shankar Jaikishan, O. P. Nayyar to name a few. The show also had students enacting a few memorable scenes from Sholey, Padosan, Chupke Chupke, etc. SMS Talkies saw the entire audience dance with the participants to the beats of songs like ‘mud mud ke na dekh’ to ‘Badtameez dil ...’

Guru Nanak Jayanti, birthday of Sri. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated in St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, on 20 November 2013 with lots of enthusiasm and religious fervor. Children chanted the ‘moolmantra’ from the Japji Sahib. The atmosphere reverberated with the ‘shabads’ sung melodiously by the children. After the ardass ‘Karah Prashad’ and sweets were distributed to the students. |

St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated Children’s Day in the primary wing. Various activities and events were organized for the students. The day began with a presentation on Jawaharlal Nehru which was followed by a Quiz. Children participated in activities such as drawing, coloring etc. Classes I to III were taken outdoor for fun and frolic whereas a Magic Show was organized for class IV. Class V made different things out of waste. Greeting card competition sponsored by Camlin, was also conducted. Children were also shown movie in their classrooms, the excitement and enjoyment was everywhere. |

Diwali Mela was organized at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, by ‘Muskaan’, an NGO working for differently abled children and Prerna Nikentan Sangh, an NGO working for polio afflicted slum children, from 24 to 26 October 2013, which showcased a variety of Diwali goodies like eatables, diyas, decorative candles, squashes and pickles. Enthusiastic students and parents thronged the mela and made Diwali purchases. The three day event ended with much bonhomie and cheer.

Students of class III celebrated Dussehra on the 8th of October 2013. A dance - drama depicting the birth of Goddess Durga, the killing of demons Mahishasura and Ravana was performed by the students. The audience was mesmerized by the remarkable performance of the students. Principal Ms. Aggarwal, Vice Principal Ms. Wahi, Educational Supervisors Ms. Ritika Anand & Ms. Anita Gupta along with the parents performed Durga Puja. The performance of the students was highly appreciated by one and all in the audience. |

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated International Peace Day, with zeal and enthusiasm. The Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal, Mr. H. K. Pandey (Former Education Officer, Zone XVII) and Mr. L. K. Rai (member of Managing Committee) graced the occasion. To make the students understand the significance of peace, various inter class competitions were organized. The competitions included poem recitation, enactment as peace leaders and poster making competitions. Glimpses of the activities were showcased in the special assembly. This was followed by the school choir singing songs to promote peace.
The Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal appreciated the efforts of the students in spreading the message of peace and encouraged them to be the harbingers of love and harmony.

On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the students of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, extended support to the children of Anugrah Foundation, which imparts basic education to underprivileged children. As requested by the NGO, various stationery items like notebooks, drawing files, sketch pens, pencils, erasers and sharpeners were handed over to the representative of the NGO by primary level students. |
Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, on 6 September 2013. The students of class II presented the programmes. The Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal, Vice Principal Ms. V. Wahi graced the function with their presence. Events from the life of Lord Ganesha were dramatized along-with four dances to show the celebration by the devotees at the time of Ganesh Utsav. Students gained immense knowledge about the various famous stories from the life of Lord Ganesha. With the mass participation of 182 students, the participants got great exposure in acting, dancing and dialogue delivery. The programme was well appreciated by one and all. |

The little devotees celebrated the life of Krishna as the most adorable, mischievous son, the most romantic lover, the most compassionate friend by presenting a dance drama named ‘Lakh Roop Tere’. The mesmerizing performances of the children enthralled the parents and the guests equally. A pooja for to mark the birth of Lord Krishna was also performed by the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal. |

15 August, a Red Letter Day in the history of India, was celebrated with a lot of gaiety and patriotic fervor at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh.
After the hoisting of the National Flag by the Chairman of the school Mr. T. P. Aggarwal accompanied by Ms. A. Aggarwal, Principal and Ms. V. Wahi, Vice Principal, the students of classes IX and XI performed an orchestra, presenting patriotic songs. What added to the beauty of the songs was that they were written by the students, Shikhar Suresh (IX-D) and Riya Nagpal (IX-F) and brought to life by Music Teacher Mr. Benedict. The songs were followed by an inspirational speech by Palak Hajela of class XI-A. The students also witnessed two elegant dances Vande Mataram and one celebrating monsoon season which added to the patriotic fervor of the day. Then came the most awaited moment of conferring duties and responsibilities to the new members of the Students Council. Nikita Sareen (XI-E) and Gaurav Kalra (XI-C) are Vice Head Girl and Vice Head Boy respectively. It was also the most appropriate time to recognize the good work of some of the students, Shivangi Arora and Tanya Gupta, both of class XI-F were awarded the ‘Most Enterprising Student’ trophies for their contribution to the Nirman Enterprise wherein they helped the mothers of the EWS students to make and sell cloth bags and earn an income. Nakul Garg of XII-E was awarded a certificate as his Science model was adjudged the best model at the Regional level and has been selected for CBSE nationals.
The members of the Editorial Board (2012-13) were also felicitated for their hard work. Chief Editor, Ria Nagpal (XII-A) and Reporters Ishan Arora (X-A) and Mayank Sharma (X-C) were given certificates for their outstanding contribution to the newsletter.

Earth Day was celebrated at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, with great fervor and enthusiasm on 22 April 2013. Children of middle section participated in various events which are as follows :
- The day started with a seed ball making workshop in which children made seed balls with compost and mud.
- 'Dustbin making' workshop - children made dustbins with cardboard boxes and decorated them. These boxes were of immense use to the class teachers.
- 'Paper bag making' workshop - the workshop was conducted in which children made paper bags out of used old newspaper and pastel sheets. The end products were beautiful bags made out of recycled paper.
- A talk on tigers - A talk was given by Dr. Sandip Sharma, a wild life photographer who specializes in the photography of tigers. He gave a wonderful account of the tigers of Ranthambore, specially a tigress called Machli. Children were enthralled to have a person of such a stature in their midst and asked him all sorts of questions related to tigers. He was equally responsive.
The day was well spent in which children and teachers associated, learnt something new and came closer to nature. |
School Foundation day was celebrated on 20th April 2013 by St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, with a lot of fun and cheer. The school bore a festive look. An Orchestra, a group song and a mesmerizing ballet were presented by students of classes X and XII. The Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal hoisted the school flag with the entire school swaying and dancing as everyone sang the school song. The Principal alongwith the Vice Principal and staff members who have been part of the SMS fraternity for the past 23 years cut the Birthday cake. The Principal in her address to the students reminisced and talked about the progress made by the school. This was followed by the investiture ceremony of the school student council, which then took the oath and pledged to carry out the duties to the best of the their abilities.
Mridul Virmani (XII-D) and Christina Sharon (XII-E) are now the Head Boy and Head Girl for 2013-14 while Karan Dua (XII-A) and Roshni Khatri (XII-A) have been selected as School Captains. Sports Captains are Mehul Mittal (XII-C) and Sakshi Dagar (XII-E).

School Foundation day was celebrated on 20th April 2013 by St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. It was a day full of fun and enjoyment for the entire SMS Family. There were special activities conducted for classes I to V to add to the festivities of the day. The students of class I were in colourful dresses and recited poems on ‘My School’. The students of class II drew and coloured a ‘Birthday Party’ scene while class III students made wall hangings using paper plates. The students of class IV made a Piggy bank wherein class V students made flowers using wire and handmade papers. The day was enjoyed by one and all. |

A Dance Festival ‘Jhankar’ was held at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, on 12 March 2013, in which approx. 300 primary students participated. The students performed various dances. The programme started by paying a tribute to Goddess Saraswati. The audiences were taken through a journey from classical dances such as a Bharatnatyam, Kathak and Manipuri, to western dances such as Ballet and Salsa. It included International Folk dances like the Peacock dance of China, the Arabian and the Lithuanian dance were also presented. This was followed by ‘Taal’ an Indo Western fusion dance. The celebration of 100 years of Hindi cinema was a real treat to the eyes of the audience. They were mesmerized by the performances when they witnessed three performances each of the black and white era, the colour era, the golden period and the modern period. The transformation from the 40’s to the 21st century left the audience awestruck. The programme ended with a grand finale which was a tribute to the great showman ‘Raj Kapoor’. It ended with the rendering of a beautiful and melodious song ‘We are the world’ by the school choir. The entire performance touched the hearts of many. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the entire programme and the hall reverberated with their whole hearted appreciation. |
On 18th and 19th of February 2013, Citation Ceremony for students of Class XII was held at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The citation ceremony which is a solemn affair is the school’s way of acknowledging its students, wishing them luck and loads of love in the journey of their life. The presence of parents makes the ceremony really special.
The ceremony saw the students and parents sharing their experiences of being part of the SMS fraternity. Ms. Inderpreet Kaur Ahluwalia, Ms. Beenu, Mr. N. K. Maithani and Mr. Rajesh Joshi were few of the parents who talked about their journey as a member of the SMS family, making everyone nostalgic and emotional at the same time. Members of Atoot Bandhan, the school’s Old Students’ Association, also spoke about their golden years in St. Mark’s School. The students were also presented with a memento along with the citation. The Principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal and the Vice Principal, Ms. Veena Wahi wished the students the very best in life. |
Basant Panchami was celebrated at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh by the students of Class I. They came attired in yellow coloured clothes. A small temple with an idol of Goddess Saraswati was set up. Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, gave her good wishes on this occasion. An intra- class Drawing Competition on the theme ‘Nature’ was held in the school ground and the students participated with a great zeal and enthusiasm. Prizes were given to the winners and effort and talent was appreciated. |

On 9th February 2013, St. Mark’s School, Meera Bagh bade farewell to the students of the outgoing Class XII. It was a very touching moment for all teachers and students as the students narrated their journey right from class I to class XII. The Principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal and the Vice Principal Ms. Veena Wahi addressed the students and wished them the very best in their future endeavours. The students also paid special tributes to the school for having made them into such confident young individuals. The teachers blessed the students and expressed their happiness to see them develop into good human beings.

The students of middle section of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec.Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated 64th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and zeal. Mr. H. K. Pandey, Education Officer (Retd.), graced the occasion with his presence.
The colourful presentation which was a beautiful amalgamation of dance and music was so very pride instilling. Songs like “Ekla Chalo”, “Vaishnavajan”, “Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna”, saluted our heroes Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi and made the atmosphere patriotic. The patriotic song and orchestra presented by the students was melodious and foot tapping.
The programme culminated with a colourful drill and a small felicitation ceremony for the young French learners who received many Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals for their exemplary performance. |

The students of classes IV and V of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated Christmas with a festive spirit on 18 December 2012 at the school premises. The students of class IV presented a nativity play about the birth of Jesus Christ. The choir group of classes IV & V sang carols and excellent musical accompaniments gladdened the hearts of all present. Santa Claus created a happy, pleasant atmosphere and spread the Christmas spirit.

Diwali was celebrated on 9 November 2012 at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, with great enthusiasm. The students of class III dressed up in colourful attire, presented Sampoorna Ramayana in which the scenes of childhood of Sri Ram, Swayamvar, exile, victory over Ravana and Sri Ram’s return to Ayodhya were depicted. Around 200 students participated in the event which was witnessed by their parents as well. The programme ended with a pooja and aarti. |
Class I students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec School, Meera Bagh celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on 1st October, 2012 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi- Father of our nation. A skit was presented; depicting the life of the great freedom fighter and social reformer. Children recited poems and sang patriotic songs too. Mrs. Anjali Aggarwal our Principal Ma’am highly appreciated the performance and confidence of the little children. She encouraged them to follow the righteous path of Gandhiji. A slide show on Bapuji was also shown to the children. Some children also went to other classes to recite poems. All the activities were organized to enlighten them about the life and principles of Gandhiji. |

St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, paid homage to the great heroes of the freedom struggle by celebrating the 65th Independence Day on 14 August 2012. The National Flag was hoisted by the Chairman of the school Mr. T. P. Aggarwal. A small cultural programme having a patriotic fervor was presented on that day. The Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal congratulated all on this day, the day which gave us the freedom of thought, action, faith and speech. The celebration came to an end with an investiture ceremony where all the office bearers of class XI were given badges and they took an oath for doing their duties dedicatedly. |

The children of class I of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated Krishnashtami with gaiety on 9 August 2012. Students donned the roles of Lord Sri Krishna, Kansa and Gopikas amongst many other characters related to Gokulashtami.. They won the heart of the audience by enacting various roles of Sri Krishna from his childhood as Nathkhat Makhan Chor. The school decorated with flowers, buntings, and swings looked like Vrindavan where little angels danced. The whole scene looked like as if the school was dipped in the colours of a rainbow. The strong bond of friendship between ‘Krishna and Sudama’ was showcased and followers of Krishna like Surdas, Ras Khan, Chitanya Mahaprabhu and Meera Bai depicted their devotion for Krishna.
Dressed in the attire of Krishna and gopikas, students spread the message of ancient Puranas and our traditions. This event brought awareness among the children about traditional customs while enjoying the pranks of Lord Krishna.

On Mandela Day, 18th July 2012, 11 students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, with Ms. Guninder got a chance to visit India International Centre for celebrating Nelson Mandela’s 94th birthday. The event was organized by India International Centre, Gandhi Peace Foundation and Working Group on Alternative Strategies as part of Taking Children to Gandhi series that brings children closer to the enduring legacy of Gandhiji’s non-violent struggle for equity, justice, pluralism and sustainable development. The occasion started with a few songs being sung at Gandhi King Memorial Plaza. The programme included a procession where students marched holding flags of colours from the flags of South Africa and India.
The slogan of ‘Madiba Tujhe Salaam.... Salaam, Salaam, Salaam was being echoed all over. It was followed by a few performances which included a dance depicting the life of Nelson Mandela and songs being sung in his praise. The High Commissioner of South Africa, Harris M. Majeke graced the occasion with his presence. He talked about the similarities between Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela. There was an interactive session wherein he answered the questions put up by the students. His struggle for Social Justice was honoured by everyone. |
For the second consecutive year, the students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated Shakespeare Week, wherein various activities were organized with a clear objective of familiarizing the students with the Bard of Avon, the Father of English Literature. On 30th April 2012, the students of Class VIII participated in Character Dramatization and relived the characters created by the famous playwright. The judges were overawed to see Othello, Shylock, Brutus, Portia, Miranda and various other characters come alive on stage. The students of class XII delivered some of the famous Shakespearean speeches and Monologues eloquently. On 1st May, there was a Quiz on Shakespeare’s life and works for the students of class XI. The informative quiz was followed by equally mesmerizing performances of budding actors who presented abridged version of 4 different plays, Hamlet, The Winter’s Tale, King Lear and Twelfth Night. It was indeed a treat to watch the students use authentic Shakespearean language with aplomb. The programme helped the students to overcome stage fear, improve voice modulation and enhance their theatrical skills and was a humble attempt to honour William Shakespeare.

Four children Agosh Saluja (X F), Aashi Batra (X A), Sameeksha Makol (X B) and Veronica Kapoor accompanied by the the teacher Ms. Manisha Pathak went to Navdanya Bija Vidyapeeth to attend a 3 day seminar on “Earth Sovereignty”. There were children and teachers from 15 schools across India who had assembled there. The 3 day seminar saw some very eminent social activist like Shweta Jaitley, Feminist Kamla Bhasin and Environmentalists Vandana Shiva and Maya Goverdhan put forth their views about environment and ways to curb global warming.
The students made a preamble on living culture, living Economy and living democracy and presented it to Dr. Vandana Shiva. The venue “Bija Vidyapeeth" was a huge farm with swaying fields of wheat and smaller cultivations of various herbs and shrubs of medicinal and kitchen use. It was a self sufficient farm. The three days that we stayed there made us understand about eco-friendly lifestyles that we can adopt for a greener earth. |
On 20th April 2012, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated its 22nd Foundation Day.
The day was full of fun and frolic for the entire SMS family. Students of Classes I and II were treated to special workshops wherein they used the art of magic painting to make button flowers.
The students of classes III and IV made cards with Madhubani form of art while Class V students made flowers of ribbons....
Classes VI to X enjoyed watching Nukkad Nataks by the troupe from Asmita Theatre.
A short movie showcasing the school’s journey from its day of inception was also shown to the students.

Sanyam Jain (XII-C) and Danish Girdhar (XII-H) would be the Head Boy and Head Girl respectively while Ravit Malik (XII-C) and Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia (XII-C) have been selected as School Captains. Sports Captains are Parth Dabas (XII-D) and Srishti Ghai (XII-E).

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated Republic Day on 25 January 2012 with a colourful and inspirational programme presented by the students of classes VI, VII and VIII.
The National Flag was hoisted by the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal.
The programme began with a patriotic qawwali ‘Sare jahan se accha Hindustan hamara’ followed by a lilting ‘Chhoro kal ki batein, kal ki baat purani’. This was followed by a choreography and a dance composition by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore which gave the message of ‘Universal brotherhood’.
The end of the musical programme saw all the singers and dancers come together and sway to the tune of ‘Vande Mataram’.
On this occasion, the Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, shared her valuable thoughts with the students and teachers.
The Under-14 cricket team of the school who participated in B. K. Gupta Memorial Inter School Cricket Tournament held in Bal Bhavan International School, Dwarka (from 2nd to 25th Dec. 2011) were also felicitated by the Principal and the Vice Principal on this occasion. |

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh organised a Social Science Exhibition ‘Srishti’ on the 12th of November 2011 in the school premises. SRISHTI was the school's attempt to teach students about the diversity of human society and give them an insight into the culture and heritage of the states of our country, as well as of other nations. This exhibition was planned with the aim of promoting the prosperity of all cultures and customs. The exhibition was an amalgamation of different cultures from India and also from the different parts of the world.
Students showcased the cultures of Italy, China, Turkey, Netherlands, Mexico, USA, UK and also many states of India from Assam to
Tamil Nadu. The lifestyle of the people, tourist attractions,
costumes and cuisines, etc. were depicted beautifully.
Several dignitaries like Mr. H. K. Pandey, Education Officer, Zone XVII; Ms. Antonia Grande, Deputy Director, Italian Embassy Cultural Section ; Mr. Ozgur Ayturk, Culture and Tourism Counsellor, Turkish Embassy graced the occasion as Special Guests of Honour to witness and applaud the efforts of the students.
The highlights of the exhibition were the various dances and songs both Indian as well as of other countries.. Approx. 1,800 students participated in the various events of this exhibition. The parents were very overjoyed to see their children perform and whole heartedy appreciated the efforts of the school teachers. A street play and an anti cracker rally was organized by the Earth Saviours Eco Club students of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, on 24 October2011. The club members along with teachers Ms. S. Kaur and Ms. M. Pathak, took out a rally in support of having a safe and eco friendly Diwali. They also performed their street play at various locations, that is, in front of Vishal Cineplex, Rajouri Garden Malls and Jwala Heri Market. The message and the play was really appreciated by the onlookers. |
Students of class III of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, presented Ramayana on 20 October 2011. It was a grand affair in which more than 100 students participated. The students danced gracefully on ‘bhajans’ like ‘thumak chalet Ramachandra’ and ‘Shri. Ramchandra kripalu’. The parents of the participants too were invited. Various excerpts from Lord Rama’s life were enacted right from childhood till he was crowned the king. The programme was highly appreciated by all. |
WALK FOR PEACE
The students of class V of St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School, Meera Bagh observed the International Day of Peace with day long celebrations. The day began with a “Peace March” that started from the school. All the students enthusiastically participated in the same. They carried banners, slogans, and placards that brought out their feelings about the need for a peaceful world. As they walked through the neighbourhood colonies, they were cheered by curious onlookers. The aim of the march was to make the people aware of the importance of the day. The students pledged to spread the message of peace around them. They understood how peace can begin with oneself.
GREETING CARD MAKING
All the students of class V participated in the greeting card making activity on the occasion of the International Peace Day celebrations. They made beautiful and very meaningful cards carrying the message of peace.
POSTER MAKING
As a mark of honour, on the International Peace Day, the students of class V of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School Meera Bagh participated in a Poster Making Event. This was one of the many activities which helped the children to express their ideas and feelings through beautiful drawings and paintings with attractive slogans. The creative ability of the budding artists was worth praising.
SONGS ON PEACE
The International Day for Peace was celebrated on September 21, 2011 with great fervor and enthusiasm. On this occasion, various activities were organized. Singing was one of them, which was really enjoyed by the children. The song "Let There Be Peace on Earth" was chosen for the occasion.
“Let there be peace on earth” is a song by Jill Jackson Miller and Sy Miller written in 1955 sung by country singer Vince Gill. The song touched their minds and made them understand the virtues of understanding, tolerance, world peace and friendship. The children tried to learn the lyrics of the song, and were showed video clips of the same. They felt the need for peace deep within their hearts. The session concluded on the note of love and compassion for each other, the community and the whole world. |
This year Janamashtmi was celebrated on 19th August, 2011. It was celebrated by Class I students with great pomp and show. Parents were invited to see the play performed by Class I students in the auditorium. |

The celebrations started with the play by Class I students and ended with Raas dance and Krishna aarti. After the play our Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal and our primary supervisor Ms. A. Gupta addressed the parents and did the puja in the small temple put up in the auditorium. Then parents were given the Prasad. Parents had a great time seeing their wards performing on stage. It was a lovely experience for all. |

These words of first Prime Minister rang through the air on 12 August, 2011 when St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated the 65th Independence Day. Every heart was filled with love for the nation and a will to do their best.
The unfurling of the flag by the Chairman, Mr. T. P. Aggarwal was a moment of great pride for all. He was accompanied by the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal and Vice – Principal Ms. Veena Wahi. After paying obeisance to the National Flag, the school orchestra presented the National Song “Vande Mataram” in a soulful manner. A speech to mark the day evoked the feeling of patriotism in every heart which was followed by a patriotic song. To add to the festivity, the Vice heads of the student council were presented with their badges of honour and their duties. Meritorious students were also presented their awards and certificates of merit by CBSE and The Hindustan Times.

On 20 April 2011, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated its twenty first Foundation Day. It was a day of celebration, joy and fun.
The day saw the unfurling of the school flag by the Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, in the presence of the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal, the Vice Principal Ms. V. Wahi and the entire SMS family, followed by the singing of the school song. It also saw everyone reiterating the school motto of Loyalty, Truth and Honour. A beautiful cultural programme was followed by the investiture ceremony wherein the Head Boy Mani Makkar, Head-Girl Taniya Arora and other Office Bearers were reminded of their duties towards the school. The Best students for the academic session 2010-2011 of different classes were awarded with their certificates and trophies. |

These students were Kashish Grover (X) and Sanchit Goyal (XI). The Best House Award for Sports, Bulletin Board display and Discipline was also presented to the House Incharges and House Captains. It was a day full of fun, enjoyment and nostalgia for all the entire SMS family. There were special activities conducted for classes I to V. The atmosphere was very radiant and vibrant with all the little ones wearing beautiful and colourful dresses. The day also saw the cutting of the special birthday cake and wishing the school the very best in all its endevours. |
St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated ‘Eco Vision 2011’ to commemorate Earth Day. Eco Vision 2011 saw students from all the three branches of St. Mark’s School participating in a week long plethora of activities. For the primary classes, there was a fancy dress competition, a drawing and painting competition, an environment based quiz and a competition in which the little ones informed everyone about the properties of trees. Students of classes 6 to 8 participated in Collage Making, Declamation competition and a poster making competition.
There were power-point presentations, a quiz on the theme of Bio diversity and design a stamp competition on flora and fauna. The senior most students participated in essay writing and poetry illustration.
It was a week, truly devoted to sensitize the students about their obligations towards our planet. The week also saw dignitaries like Mr. Sunil Saxena, Director, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Climate Change and Mr. Saurav Bardhan, co founder, Green Bandhu Eco solutions visiting the school and sharing their expertise with the students.
The culmination of the week-long event saw an amazing display of choreography, song and dance by the students. It also saw the presence of Mr. Gaurav Shorey, TERI who enriched the students with his knowledge and expertise and handed over prizes to the deserving students. The grand finale was ‘Vriksharopan’ a traditional tree plantation in true Shantiniketan lifestyle. |
Basant Panchami was celebrated by the students of classes I and II of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec.Public School. Meera Bagh, on 8th February 2011.
It began with ‘Saraswwati Puja’, followed by ‘Saraswati Vandana’ (Dance) and a Bengali dance depicting the spring season.
Children were dressed up as sunflowers, trees, birds, bees, butterflies etc. The other children were also dressed up in yellow and enjoyed yellow coloured sweets. |

The class teachers of respective classes informally introduced each student of their class, following which a Citation describing the qualities of the student was read out by the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal and a Memento was also presented to each student.
The highlights of the event were Manipuri, Sufi and Bharatnatyam recitals by the students of St.Mark’s. It was indeed an emotional event where every child was personally blessed by the Principal. A class representative spoke about his/her experience in St. Mark’s School. |

With the same patriotic fervor and zest was the 61st Republic Day celebrations at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The hoisting of the National Flag by the Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal was followed by a cultural bonanza presented by the students of the middle wing of the school.
Singing of patriotic songs, filled hearts with pride as the songs saluted the national and unsung heroes who had laid their lives down for this beautiful country. This was followed by a melodious Qawwali – “sarfaroshi ki shama….” which talked about cross border terrorism and the involvement of youth in it. The programme ended with beautifully choreographed dance performances depicting the National Symbols, confluence of west and east and finally representing the essence of India – Unity in Diversity. The Principal congratulated the students for their performance and urged everyone to understand their responsibilities as citizens of India. |

Christmas – a time of joy and happiness, giving and sharing.
Christmas parties were organized for classes I to VI from 20 to 24 December 2010, at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, with interesting activities, games, magic show. The students thoroughly enjoyed the parties and went back home with lovely gifts given by their Santa Claus. The gifts were beautifully wrapped not in plastic sheets, but in newspapers on which block painting had been done by the students.
The Presentation of the ‘Nativity Scene’ was a treat to the eyes. The Christmas Carols sung by the choir took everyone to the time when Jesus was born. All the participants performed very well and did their best to make the programme a hit. The narrators delivered their speeches with eloquence. The sledge, jingle bells, Santa Claus and last but not the least, Mary and Jospeh, left all spell bound. |

Janmashtami was celebrated on 1 September 2010. The spirit of the festival came alive when the students of Class I participated in the celebrations. The programme started with a ‘puja’ which was performed at the school reception where a small temple was erected. The students along with our respected Principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal and Vice principal Ms Veena Wahi lit the diya and sang the arti. The birth of Lord Krishna was depicted which was followed by ‘Makhan Chor’ dance, ‘Govardhan Puja’ and ‘Ras Lila’. Children were beautifully dressed up as "Radha, Lord Krishna and Gokulvasis”. They performed with enthusiasm and fervour.

20th April was celebrated as the Founder’s day at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, with a lot of joy and excitement. The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the flag by the Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggawal, Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal, Vice Principal Ms. V. Wahi accompanied by Dr. Balbir Singh, member of the Managing Committee, with the melodious notes of the school song “Hail St. Mark’s” playing in the background. The students of classes X and XII rendered a song and a choreography depicting “A Student’s Journey in St. Mark’s” was also displayed.
Best students from various classes were awarded by Hindustan Times, Statesman and The Times of India.
Investiture ceremony was solemnized and the Office Bearers were assigned their duties.
