St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh took an initiative to help non computer literate parents to become familiar with the world of computers. The team of 10 students and 10 parents was led by two computer teachers of our school, Ms. V. Lamba and Ms. S. Bhatnagar. The project commenced in April 2018 and concluded by November 2018.
The parents were given an opportunity to learn the basics of computer like Paint, Notepad, MS-Office and Internet, so that they can support their children and help them to use computers in an optimum way. This endeavor has made the parents confident enough as they now feel at par with the tech savvy world. |

In keeping with the true spirit of helping others in need, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh responded to the urgent appeal by the NGO Goonj and contributed ration items comprising more than 300 kg wheat flour, 300 kg rice, 100 kg pulses, sugar, tea, milk powder, oil, spices, salt and steel utensils for the flood affected victims of Bihar and North East. |

| Today as a beautiful state often called God's own country stands ravaged by the onslaught of floods, we the St. Mark’s family show our love and willingness to help through word as well as deed. Our students collected, sorted and packed relief material for Kerala in the month of August, 2018. The collected material which included sarees, shirts, bedsheets and kidswear was sent through aegis of GOONJ an NGO working in the flood affected state. |

We at St. Mark’s believe that selfless service can make a big difference in many lives. The student volunteers from our school impart basic English language skills and conversation proficiency to the children from nearby slum areas through our initiative Vidyarambh. |

As a part of Earth Day 2018 Celebrations based on theme - "End plastic pollution" an anti plastic rally was taken out by Earth Saviours Club members of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh in the vicinity of the school GH 6 market and residential area on 5 May, 2018.
Eco club members shouted slogans "With plastic life is not fantastic" and interacted with the shopkeepers regarding perils of using plastic. They also gifted paper bags made by our school children. Finally there was a group discussion in the school where club members shared the experiences about plastic pollution. |

The occasion of School Foundation Day is a joyous occasion for SMS family not just because it is our School's Birthday but also because it is a day wherein we help our less fortunate brethren in poverty stricken villages every year by donating books, stationary items,school uniforms through aegis of Goonj. This year also more than 20 sacks of the above stated educational material along with 500 library books, school bags, tiffin boxesand water bottles were contributed. |

Sharing and caring is an integral part of the ethos of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The SMS family shares and cares through SOS India, an independent, non- profit organization that works for the holistic development of orphan and abandoned children. This year, the SMS family contributed Rs.4,92,600 to SOS India on 22 February, 2018, a cheque of the above mentioned amount was presented to Ms. Shilpa Bisht, Senior Manager, Individual Partnerships Pan India (SOS Children’s Villages of India) by the Chief Guest Mr. Manoj Tiwari, BJP Chief, Delhi during the annual day celebrations of the school. Ms. Bisht highlighted that St. Mark’s School has been the top collector amongst schools all over India from the past many years. Mr. Manoj Tiwari complimented the school for its commendable efforts.
The top student collectors for SOS were :
Preet Arora (II-E) – Rs. 6,500; Satwika Vepulla (I E) – Rs. 5,100; Ishita Gupta (VI E) – Rs. 5,050; Charvy Yadav (I A) - Rs. 5,000 and Devesh Marwaha (VI A) – Rs. 5,000.
The top collector class was IV-D which contributed Rs. 20,000 for the noble cause. |

On slaught of winters spells misery for our country’s poor and homeless people.
The St. Mark’s family extended a helping hand to alleviate the suffering of people due to extreme weather conditions by contributing winter clothing like sweaters, blankets, socks for our lesser fortunate brethren through the aegis of NGO – GOONJ. More than a vanload of material was contributed by the students in the month of December, 2017 which was gratefully accepted by the GOONJ volunteers. |

| On 28 December, 2017, 30 students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, MeeraBagh of Classes VI to VIII and XI visited ‘SOS Village, Bawana’ with their teacher incharges, Ms. A. Jain, Ms. R. Malhotra and Ms. N. Agrawal. The students were enthusiastic to meet the children staying with their caring ‘mothers’ and spent quality time with them by interacting, dancing and playing with them. While returning, the students gave them new year wishes by distributing chocolates, stationary items and biscuits. |

‘Harit Diwali Swasth Diwali’, this was the theme of the Diwali Celebrations done by Earth Saviours Eco Club this year. The celebrations kick started with children of Classes IV and V going to India Paryavaran Bhawan and taking a pledge to celebrate a clean and green Diwali and make Delhi pollution free.
The children from classes III to VIII decorated diyas. Pledge was taken in the classes wherein the children promised to have a safe Diwali. A Nukkad Natak (street play) was staged for primary and middle classes. A Power point presentation was shown in all the classes showing the children hazards of bursting crackers followed by a discussion / talk. Last but not the least a rally was taken out in neighbourhood areas, where also children raised slogans urging people to have a ‘Safe Diwali’ and the street play was shown to the pedestrians. |

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness” was the mantra of Mahatma Gandhiji. He demonstrated, propagated and insisted on individual and community cleanliness throughout his life. Following his footprints, students of Class XI of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh initiated a community cleanliness drive on October 2, 2017. The young students began their initiative by undertaking a Swatchhta Pledge wherein they pledged to make Gandhi’s vision of clean and green India -a reality. It was followed by a brief interactive session in which students recalled incidents from Gandhiji’s life. Thereafter armed with brooms, dustpans, garbage bins and righteous zeal the young brigade started ‘cleaning up’ and ‘sensitizing’ people in the LIC colony and areas adjoining the school. The students spoke to residents as well as passerbys and encouraged them to contribute to swatchchta mission.
Shramdaan by the students of our school is a continuation of the proud legacy and tradition which was started more than six years ago wherein we pay homage to Bapu by incorporating his ideals in our life. |

| Students and staff of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh extended a helping hand to the victims of floods in North East and Bihar on 31 August, 2017. The SMS family contributed dry rations including wheat flour, sugar, rice, pulses, tea leaves, milk powder, oil and other essentials like sarees, bed sheets, tarpaulins, sanitary napkins as a part of Rescue and Rehabilitation initiative – collaborating with GOONJ – an NGO working at the grassroot level in the disaster prone areas. |

St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated Christmas in its true spirit as it organised Umang - Celebration of life, an event for the lesser privileged children of the society.
With excitement and enthusiasm, around 155 children from near and far participated in a range of activities - meditation, music, races and art. They were very efficiently supported and guided by the organising committee consisting of students from grades IX and X of St. Mark's School. Umang was also supported by the parents of Aditi Dabas (II D), Avi Makan (II D), Kriday Sharma (II B), Gurbani Kaur (II B), Jaskeerat Singh (II A) and Atoot Bandhan - Old Students Association of St. Mark's School.
The Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, motivated the children with her address and also gave away the prizes to the winners of the races as well as art competition.Each child was also given a gift pack for Christmas. |

It is the time to share for we care Lending a Helping Hand to Goonj at the onset of Winters.
More than 20 sacks of woollen clothing including jackets, sweaters, caps, scarfs and suits were donated by the students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 13 December, 2016 to Goonj : an NGO working for under privileged people. This initiative of the students was an attempt to help our poor brethren to combat the onset of winters with the help of woollen clothing. |

Learning is not bound by age and has only one intention which it carries with itself : to create pure magic in the learner’s mind. To stir curiosity. To grow and enrichen the mind. Following this St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh took an initiative to help non computer literate parents to become familiar with the world of computers.

| More than 80 students of Class XI led by the Students Council of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh initiated a cleanliness drive in the area adjoining the school on 2 October, 2016. In a bid to translate Gandhi's vision of a clean India into reality the young students armed with brooms in hand and dedication in hearts relentlessly picked the trash and pledged to incorporate swachata as a part of daily routine and lifestyle patterns. |

  Massive floods ravaged Uttarakhand, parts of Madhya Pradesh and Assam. In response to an urgent appeal by GOONJ - an NGO working in the rescue and rehabilitation initiative, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh sent dry rations comprising more than 450 Kg. rice, 86 Kg. sugar, 300 Kg. pulses, 21 Kg. spices, tea, milk powder, bathing and washing bars, toothpaste and stainless steel utensils to the flood affected regions. |

Come Let’s Celebrate the Labour that built this great land from field to field, from desk to desk . . .
The students of Class XI of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh commemorated the International Labour Day on May 1 by honouring the contributions of working men and women through a series of activities. The students generated awareness about the Labour Day among the fellow students through an informative power point presentation and brief talk sessions. Thereafter the students interacted with the support staff of the school including lift men, guards, cleaners, school bus drivers and the gardener and personally thanked each one of them for their zealous service. |

| True to the ethos and underlying values of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, the students began the new academic session by contributing stationary items to the NGO Goonj for our less fortunate brethren. The contributions included more than 1000 new notebooks, 2000 new books, 3000 old books, 3 sacks of old clothes, 500 water bottles, 700 school bags, 500 lunch boxes and 3 sacks of miscellaneous stationary items. |

  The students and staff members of SMS family extended a helping hand to the victims of Chennai floods by contributing bed sheets and sarees for relief and rehabilitation initiative undertaken by GOONJ - an NGO which is presently working in the flood ravaged areas of Tamil Nadu.

  The students and staff members of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh collected winter clothings which included jackets, shawls, blazers, cardigans, socks and gloves for our less fortunate brethren.
42 sacks of above mentioned clothing articles were contributed to Goonj on 27 November, 2015 under Project Raahat for the benefit of poor and homeless people who face a lot of hardship during harsh winters. |
 On 24 November, 2015, four students Geetansh Sachdeva (IX B), Raghav Bansal (IX A), Pratishtha
Verhwani (IX E) and Sachmeet Kalsi (VIII A) of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh went to Hauz Khas Monumental Complex as a part of the project ‘The Clean Monument’ by Intach.
The students cleaned the complex and also saw the Hauz Khas Lake which was a sight to behold.
They made posters, wrote articles and pledged to keep the monuments clean. |

Six students of Nirmaan team – Shikhar Juneja (XI E), Divyansh (X F), Mansi Marwah (X C), Riya Nagpal (XI D), Anjali Labh (XI C) and Mandeep Singh (X C) alongwith teacher incharge Ms. M.V. Manchanda from St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh attended the 9th Annual Conference on Sustainability and Innovation in Education held in KIIT World College, Gurgaon from 19 November, 2015 to 21 November, 2015.
The organizer of the conference was Teach a Man to Fish, an international NGO that works with schools across the world to set up educational and profitable school businesses. Around 300 delegates from 26 countries attended the workshop. It was a good platform for knowledge sharing and for showcasing and displaying the products produced by Nirmaan Enterprises. |

 On the eve of Durga Puja and Vijaydashmi celebrations, the students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh collected toys and games. More than 30 sacks of toys were handed over to the Goonj representatives on 17 October, 2015 as gifts for less fortunate children in Anganwadis in rural areas. |

Around 70 students of Class XI led by office bearers of Class XII paid homage to the spirit of Father of the Nation by performing Shramdaan to clean the nearby localities in Meera Bagh on 2 October, 2015.
This initiative of translating Gandhiji’s vision of a Clean India into a reality has been supported by St. Markians for the past few years. This year, the students also spoke to small shopkeepers selling eatables and persuaded them to place dustbins and reduce the litter. |
  On 29 September, 2015 a group of 30 students alongwith teacher incharges Ms. M. Parashar and Ms. A. Jain of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh went to the processing unit of Goonj located in Sarita Vihar, Delhi.
The students got a hands-on-experience in sorting and packing of clothes given to our less fortunate brethren. As a part of ‘Cloth for Work Campaign’ , local people receive these clothes in lieu of their work done like building a pond, well or bunds, etc. Some clothes are also given as ‘Rahat’ material in times of disaster to various parts of India.
Students thus were able to assimilate that every thing is useful and should not be wasted. |

A massive devastated large parts of Nepal and killed thousands of people and rendered many more homeless.
 St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh extended a helping hand to the affected people and sent relief material including dry rations like - flour (1030 kgs), rice (500 kgs), sugar (280 kgs), milk powder, oil, pulses, spices and utility items like bed sheets and soaps and tarpaulins through the NGO - GOONJ.
The earthquake which devastated Nepal and killed thousands of people and rendered many homeless.
St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh contributed a cheque of Rs. 2,04,632 (Two Lakhs Four Thousand Six Hundred Thirty Two Only) towards Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the aid of earthquake victims and handed over the same to Mr. P. K. Bali (Under Secretary), Prime Minister’s Office. |
 In its endeavour to inculcate the habit of reading in students, the staff and students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh donated 530 books for the library of two schools - Govt. Boys Sr. Sec. School, Amalvas, Jawalapuri and The Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Ambica Vihar, Paschim Vihar.
A group of students, along with their teacher in charges Ms. M. Ghosh and Ms. M. Parashar, visited the schools and handed over the books to the heads of these institutions. |

| 22 students of Class VI of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh along with teachers Ms. M. Parashar and Ms. S. Malik visited an old age home in Nihal Vihar on 25 February, 2015. The students distributed shawls, sweaters and biscuits among the 44 inmates of the old age home. They spent time interacting with these senior citizens. Most of them were bed ridden. The condition of some senior citizens and their heart breaking stories brought tears to eyes. It was a heart touching experience and the students pledged that they would always love and cherish the elders in their family. |

On 20 February, 2015 the Principal of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh Ms. A. Aggarwal presented a cheque of Rs. 5 Lakh 10 Thousand to Mr. Kanchen Sen (Head of Individual Partnership Programme, SOS India). This was a contribution of the students of the school.
SOS Children’s Villages of India is a non-profit, non-governmental and voluntary organization committed to the care of orphans and homeless children. The SOS representative, Mr. Kanchen Sen lauded the school’s regular contributions to SOS and appreciated the fact that St. Mark’s School, Meera Bagh continues to be the highest contributor to SOS at the National level for many years.

| Nine students from Class X of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh were selected for the second edition of Teach India Programme. The selected students - Anshika Gandhi (X-D), Shreya Manocha (X-B) and Vaishali (X-G) attended the Demo and Orientation Programme for Community Mobilisation while Anurag Batra (X-D) and Anjali Banerjee (X-C) participated in the Media Outreach programme. Shivam Juneja (X-G), Muskaan Pandya (X-G), Hargun Kaur (X-G) and Namisha Chugh (X-G) are the student volunteers for Spoken English. 21 learners have volunteered for Project Spoken English. The classes have started from 26 November 2014. |

| Ten students of Class VIII of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in a video conference for a very special cause with the students of New Bethlehem High School, New York. Both the schools are part of the Global Coalition Network. The two schools, each year, help people in need by giving loans to them which is paid back by them in installments. The students learn to use the Kiva Lending site www.kiva.org to make small loans. Kiva is a special website that lists thousands of people who are looking forspecial loans to start small businesses. The students get very passionate about this projectbecause it is not a simulation, it is real money being lent to realpeople. Moreover, through this the students learn the concept of 'loaning money'. |
 The students and the staff members of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh collected a sum of rupees 4 Lacs 8 Thousand 6 Hundred and 17 for the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, to help the victims of Jammu and Kashmir floods.
On the occasion of Diwali celebrations the Member of Legislative Assembly, Mr. Manoj Shokeen was invited to the school and the cheque of this amount was presented to him by our Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal and Principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal in the presence of students and parents. |

Nine students from Classes X and XI were selected to be part of the Teach India (School Chapter). The nine students were divided into three groups and had well defined roles and responsibilities.
Shivangi Stuti, Anjali Labh, Aakriti Suri & Saumya Verhwani were the student volunteers for Project Spoken English wherein they conducted classes in spoken English for the support staff of our school.
Sujata Mahajan, Maghav Goel & Akhil Bajaj were the student volunteers for Community Mobilsation wherein they had to reach out to the community and motivate the people to learn English for better job prospects.
Sakshi Singh & Ashutosh Shaw were the student volunteers for Teach India Outreach. Their responsibility was to reach out to the public with pictures, blogs and videos so that the common public gets to know the modus operandi of the work done by their fellow teammates. |

| On 26 September, 2014 a group of 50 students of Classes IV and V from St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh along-with Ms. M. Parashar and Ms. A. Jain visited the Anugrah Foundation, Dwarka, Delhi which is imparting basic education to the children from under privileged segment of society. Our students interacted with the children there and taught them poem and songs with action. The children of foundation were then encouraged to sing songs of their choice. Prizes were also given to them. The students handed over the contribution of notebooks, scrap files and colour boxes to them and they also distributed biscuits, chips, chocolates and frooties. Overall it was a learning experience for the students as they were sensitized to the needs of the less privileged brothers and sisters. |

| India is my country and all Indians are my brothers… At the time of disaster a billion hearts beat together… is a sentiment that is firmly engrained in the mind and soul of each St. Markian. In response to the massive destruction caused by J&K floods, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh extended a helping hand to the state by contributing essentials such as sacks of woolen clothing, shawls, bed-sheets, blankets, umbrellas, torches through GOONJ - an NGO actively involved in the relief work in the ravaged state. The relief material was handed over by our Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal to the GOONJ representatives. |

A group of students of Class VII along with the Principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal, Educational Supervisor Ms. Anita Gupta and Art teacher Ms. S. Pathela went to the Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Ambica Vihar on Friday i.e, 2nd May 2014 to give Art material to the students of the above mentioned school.
The students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh donated Art material to students of this school with the money they had collected by selling paintings and craft work during the Art Exhibition. The Principal of Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Ms. Meena very graciously allowed these students to personally hand over these kits to 50 selected students of her school those who were promising artists. The students of both the schools interacted and spoke to each other and promised to exchange ideas in future.

Diwali Mela was organized at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, by ‘Muskaan’, an NGO working for differently abled children and Prerna Nikentan Sangh, an NGO working for polio afflicted slum children, from 24 to 26 October 2013, which showcased a variety of Diwali goodies like eatables, diyas, decorative candles, squashes and pickles. Enthusiastic students and parents thronged the mela and made Diwali purchases. The three day event ended with much bonhomie and cheer.

Many a times we all feel a twinge of despair when we see poverty, hunger and helplessness around us. Yet, there are many amongst us who strive ceaselessly to translate the dream of a happy world filled with smiles into a reality.
The class VI students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated the ‘Joy of Giving’ week, from 2nd to 9th October 2013, an initiative by Goonj in novel way. They prepared a wish tree and hung on it with satin ribbons small colourful slips on which they mentioned all that they wished to gift to their unfortunate brethren. Throughout the week the young students made the collections. Their colourful parcels included stationary items, colour boxes, T-shirts, sweaters, tiffin boxes, story books, sports items and more than 100 school bags which were gratefully accepted by the Goonj representatives. |

‘My God is alive in my heart and in my deeds’.
 On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the students of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, extended support to the children of Anugrah Foundation, which imparts basic education to underprivileged children.
As requested by the NGO, various stationery items like notebooks, drawing files, sketch pens, pencils, erasers and sharpeners were handed over to the representative of the NGO by primary level students. |
| The state of Uttarakhand faced untold misery when it was devastated by heavy downpours and floods. Lakhs of pilgrims as well as natives of the ravaged state were in a pitiable condition. The staff and students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, extended a helping hand to Goonj, an NGO which works for the underprivileged section of society, and contributed in cash as well as kind for rehabilitation efforts in the state. A cheque of Rs. 1,81,000/- was presented by the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal and rations like oil, pulses, rice as well as 330 woolen blankets were handed over by Ms. R. Verma and Ms. A. Mehta, teachers of the school, to the Goonj representatives. The SMS family prays that tranquility returns to the state resplendent with nature’s beauty. |

Ms. S. Malik along-with 16 students of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, visited the NGO SOS, Bawana on 15 May 2013, which provides family like environment and educational facilities to orphan children. Students contributed the following ration items like 200 kg atta, 150 kg rice, 200 kg besan, 100 kg sugar, 10 kg masala, 6 packs of soya bean, 18 kg daliya, 17 kg salt, 48 litre oil and 5 packets of Bournvita.
During the visit, the students also interacted with the children in the SOS complex. They organized a football match and also conducted a quiz on India and Bollywood. In the course of their interaction, the students met Priyanka, a hotel management aspirant and a Std. X student Rukmini, blessed with extraordinary artistic skills, whose room was like a miniature art gallery. The students also extensively questioned Mr. Ritesh, Co-ordinator of SOS, Bawana regarding the welfare, education, career options and protection of students against rising levels of crime in cities. It was truly a fruitful and an enriching experience for the students. |
On 14 May 2013, Ms. M. Parashar along-with 15 students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, visited Prerna Niketan Sangh, Basti Vikas Kendra, Dwarka, Delhi. This institution supports about eighty students and also educates many other slum children. The students organized a Quiz for the children who had come from different NGOs to attend the 11day residential integrated camp for the physically challenged children. They participated in the Quiz. Students interacted with Ms. Meenu Saxena, the Director of Prerna Niketan and also spent some time with them. They exchanged views with one another and also had a singing and dancing session. The visit left a deep impact on students who pledged to continue to help the underprivileged children of Prerna Niketan Sangh.
The students and staff of St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School, Meera Bagh extended a helping hand to Prerna Niketan Sangh, Basti Vikas Kendra, Dwarka. Students contributed various provisions like Rice (250kg), Sugar (150kg), Pulses (100kg), Oil 70 litre, Wheat Flour (300kg), Besan (50kg), Spices 100 packets and other groceries along-with a cash amount of Rs. 25100/- for the 11day residential integrated camp for the physically challenged children from 07/05/2013 to 18/04/2013. |

Sharing is a part of value system and is engrained in the ethos of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The school has been actively contributing to SOS Children’s Villages, an NGO which works towards fulfillment of rights of children in need by providing them the love, care and security of a family. On 12 March 2013, the SMS Family yet again proved its commitment to social causes by presenting a cheque of Rs .5,58,573/- to Ms. Yasmin Riaz, Dy. National Director – Fund Development and Communication, SOS India. She expressed her gratitude to the students of St. Mark’s School and said that this is the highest collection made by any school of Delhi. The top 4 collectors were :

Ms. S. Malik and Ms. M. Parashar, teachers of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, attended the 14th anniversary celebration of Goonj, an NGO working for poor and destitute people all over India, at Sarita Vihar on 24 February 2013. The efforts of St. Mark’s family in helping Goonj to convert urban waste into rural resource were appreciated.
School regularly contributes in the form of old clothes, stationery items, bedsheets etc. which is channelized by the NGO in their initiatives like clothe for work wherein they pay rural people by using clothe as a parallel currency and initiate rural development projects like digging up wells, building a pucca road, beautifying an anganwadi using local people and local resources. It was a great experience as stories of real life heroes who are working for betterment of under privileged section of society were shared. |

V-care is a non-profit making charitable organization working for the welfare of the poor in the urban slums of Delhi. It imparts education to children and also counsels the parents to send their children to their centers for education. They provide nutritious food at mid day meals. To enhance the confidence of the youth to become socially productive persons, they impart vocational training in courses like typing, tailoring, computer training and beauty culture etc. They also provide ration, medicines and shelter for the HIV / Aids patients. Our students appreciated their concern and care for the HIV/ Aids patients and also educating the children of rag pickers. |
| 30 students of of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in ‘Save Girl Child’ Rally on 21 November 2012 which was organized by ‘Lions Club’. Children carried placards and banners within 2 kms area of the school. |
Availability of clean, drinking water is a major issue in most of the Govt. run schools. Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, felt that water is a dire necessity of survival. Translating this thought into action, the students of class VI, VII and VIII initiated a project wherein they collected money from their classmates and teachers and installed Acquaguard Water Purifiers in three schools namely :

Govt. Sr. Sec. School for Boys, Jwala Puri
The students not only funded the project but were also involved and present at the time of installation of these machines. The efforts of the students and their sensitivity was acknowledged and appreciated by the students and Principals of these stated schools. Following the maxim of Mahatama Gandhi, more than sixty student volunteers of St. Mark's Sr. Sec Public School, Meera Bagh participated in ‘SHRAM DAAN’ to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti. Attempts were made to spread Bapu’s thoughts through the medium of banners. Keeping up the Gandhian spirit, student volunteers put in a commendable effort and initiated a cleanliness drive in the nearby areas. True homage was paid to the father of the nation by these young people who performed this selfless service not just with their hands but also with their hearts. |

| A group of 6 students alongwith teacher Ms. Savita Arora of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, attended ‘Pratibimb’ organized by Goonj, an NGO working for poor and destitute people all over India, on 7th and 8th February 2012. The programme involved participation of students of rural areas as well as urban areas to interact with each other. The programme focused on how ‘Goonj’ works for the people from unprivileged section of the society to help them fulfill their basic needs. Overall it was a great learning experience. |
| In response to an appeal put forward by GOONJ, an NGO working for the downtrodden sections of society, the SMS family contributed 16 sacks of used bed sheets and sarees for our less fortunate brethren on 4 November, 2011. |
| Ms. S. Malik and Ms. M. Parashar, teachers of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, accompanied by the Swedish Guests Ms. Cecilia and Ms. Kaijen, visited SOS Village at Bawana, on 26 February 2011. The guests from Sweden and children of SOS interacted with each other about the curricular and co-curricular activities. The Swedish friends were impressed with the infrastructural facilities of SOS as well as zealous approach of students of St. Mark’s School, Meera Bagh, who have always extended a helping hand to SOS. Finally, after cutting the cakes and distributing chocolates and Pepsi lovingly sent by the senior students of St. Mark’s, they bid adieu to SOS. |
On the occasion of Basant Panchami, the staff and students of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, extended a helping hand to SOS, a non-govt., voluntary organization providing family environment and avenues for all round development of orphan children. The Principal Ms. A. Aggawral handed over a cheque of Rs.4,91,544/- to Mr. Sourabh Roy, Deputy Area Coordinator of SOS. The amount collected by St. Mark’s School, Meera Bagh for SOS was the highest amongst all the schools of Delhi.

| Students of classes IX and X of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in the ‘Clean Delhi Drive’ organized by the ‘Art of Living’ organization from 3 to 10 September 2010. They cleaned up the adjoining market area and lane opposite to the school enthusiastically. They also spread awareness by speaking to the shopkeepers and the general public to use dustbins rather than littering their surroundings. They collected signatures of the residents making them pledge to maintain the cleanliness of their city. |

Tang (2.5 kg), Spices (8kg), Salt (46 kg), Biscuits 1 big carton and 12 sacks of old books and stationery items along with cash of Rs.11,000/- for the 10 day residential camp for physically challenged children from 13 May 2010 to 23 May 2010. |
| Students of classes IV and V of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in the Adventure Camp, held in the school premises on 13 and 14 March 2010. The students were introduced to adventure equipments and competed in many adventure activities like rappelling, river crossing techniques, knot tying exercises, tele games, obstacles etc. The camp was specially designed by the Scat Camp for school students, to bring into them a high sense of competition and to train their minds to compete under stress and difficult conditions. The camp was enjoyed by one and all. |

The students contributed various items like wheat flour (190 kg), sugar (95 kg),Pulses (95 kg), Pure ghee (11 kg), spices (8 kg) and salt (45 pkts.)
The staff and students of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, extended a helping hand to SOS by making a cash contribution of Rs. 4,08,300/- on 25 January 2010. The cash collected was presented to Ms. Deeksha Joshi, Deputy Area Coordinator, SOS, in a gala Republic Day celebration organized in the school premises. The SOS representatives appreciated the school's active participation in SOS and also presented mementos to Himanshi (III-E), Meher (I-I) and Aneesh (II-D) who were the top three student collectors. |
 We, in association with 'Hriday Shan', an NGO, organized a 'walk' on 11 November 2009 to bring about awareness amongst common people about 'Diabetes'.
Around 100 children of classes VII and VIII participated in the walk alongwith their mothers.
Students went to Ambica Vihar, Guru Harkishan Nagar and Sunder Vihar carrying banners about Diabetes and disseminating information about the disease and how it can be controlled and prevented. |
 On 22 September 2009 OUR students undertook 'Save Yamuna' project in which they had to sensitize the citizens of Delhi about the way the river Yamuna is being polluted. Students, who wore jackets that had the message - 'Save Yamuna' printed on them, held huge banners and stood by the roadside to enable people to read the message.
It was quite a busy road with heavy traffic, but the people slowed down and read the banners. The children were given a good talk about Yamuna by Mr. Manoj Mishra, who told them that except during monsoons, Yamuna always had the sewage water fed to it by 22 drains of Delhi, which is circulated again and again by the Jal Board. Children were taken to the Nizamuddin Bridge to see the plight of the Yamuna.
On the bridge, there were posters which requested people not to throw waste in the Yamuna. Overall it was an experience, which made them realize the callousness of human beings towards the river Yamuna - the Lifeline of Delhi. |
| The staff and students contributed 450 meters of new cotton cloth to the NGO GOONJ working for the underprivileged sections of society, as part of their 'Joy of Giving' initiative on 5 September 2009. They also contributed more than 20 sacks of used clothing and stationery items. |

17 students of the school also visited Prerna Niketan Sangh on 12 May 2009. It was a learning experience, as they learnt the art of agarbatti making and chalk making from the inmates of Prerna Niketan. They formed groups with the children of Prerna Niketan and presented short skits on themes like ‘Honesty is the best policy,’ ‘Corruption in India’ etc. This visit left a deep impact on students and they pledged to continue to help the underprivileged children of Prerna Niketan Sangh. |

On 13 January 2009, Lohri, Pongal and Makar Sankranti were celebrated with fervour. The occasion was graced by the Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal and Guest of Honour Mr. Harpreet Singh, Director, SOS. The performance area for the show was decorated with an ethnic taste depicting the villages of Tamil Nadu and Punjab. The four days of Pongal were explained with different scenes followed by the Pongal Dance. After a talk about Makar Sankranti, the students sang a Punjabi folk song followed by vibrant Bhangra.
The Bonfire was lit, followed by a small speech by the Principal and the Guest of Honour. It was indeed a day of celebration as it culminated with the handing over of a cheque of Rs. 3,30,725/- as a contribution by the staff and the students. We believe that working for society is an integral part of all celebrations and our association with SOS, a non-government, voluntary organization working for welfare of orphan children has been a long and fruitful one. It was a joint effort of all but the following students made a mark by contributing whole heartedly.
