Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, attended CMS Vaatavaran Workshops from 31 January to 3 February 2014 at IGNCA Lawns. These workshops concentrated on International Environment and Wildlife Film Festival. The festival was a high visibility and large scale participation biodiversity event.
Through a kaleidoscope of films (more than 100), workshops, open forums contemporary discourses, exhibition, musical nights, spread across 5 lawns organized by ONGC, Japan, UNDP & GIZ. Our students saw various films and interacted with several environmentalists about eco-friendly products from the exhibition. It was a fun filled learning experience. |
Members of the Companimals Club of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, visited Sanjay Gandhi Animal Shelter Care to donate blankets on 19 February 2013. Students saw different rescued animals like Turkeys, Camels, Parrots etc. There were many sick animals, who were brought for medication and vaccination. Students also took biscuits to feed them. Overall it was a good experience for each one of them. |

Members of the Companimals Club (VI-VIII) of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, went to Sonadi Animal Shelter on 20 December 2012 where they were welcomed by Ms. Vandana Sen, Caretaker of Sonadi Charitable Trust and Ms. Sita, a young lady with a selfless caring attitude. They gave students a detailed account about the functioning of the shelter. Students were inspired and motivated for the noble cause of valuing life in various forms. It was an enriching experience. |

Ms. Ambika Shukla, an animal activist and active member of People for Animals visited St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, on 7 February 2012. She addressed around 100 students of classes VI, VII and VIII including the Companimals Club members, making them aware of the cruelties inflicted upon animals. She inspired and motivated them to turn vegetarians by explaining the plight of animals before they are slaughtered and other harmful effects of eating meat. Students were encouraged to take small steps like keeping food, water and old blankets for animals outside their houses. |

Students of the ‘Companimals – Friend of Animals’ Club of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, were taken to ‘Sanjay Van’, Qutub Institutional Area. ‘Sanjay Van’ is a park where animals and birds are seen in their natural habitat. Peacocks, Neelgai and a variety of birds could be seen there. Students had an experience of trekking, moving through the plants and tress and climbing up the hills. It was an enthralling experience. |

With the onset of winter, students of ‘Companimals – Friend of Animals’ Club of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, collected old sheets, blankets, quilts, which were used along with the new blankets to make beddings for animals, stitched by the students themselves. Many students took the beddings home to make shelters, using old cardboard boxes, for the stray animals near their house.
On 15 December 2010, 58 students of classes VI to VIII along with 2 teachers visited the Sanjay Gandhi Animal Shelter. Each one of them carried a bedding/blanket to make the animals comfortable. They also saw the sick animals being treated in the hospital.
They also got an opportunity to meet Ms. Maneka Gandhi, who motivated the students to adopt Indian dogs. She also made them aware of the cruelties faced by the animals. Overall, it was a wonderful and motivating experience for all. |
