SWACHHATA PAKHWADA
“Environmental cleanliness begins with individual desire to be clean.” - Lailah Gifty Akita.

Ever since 2016, our school has been observing Swachhata Pakhwada, a fortnight dedicated to cleanliness. Students, teachers and support staff together not only keep themselves and their surroundings clean but also sensitize others to do the same. Several activities are held as part of the awareness programme. Poster making, slogan writing, taking out rallies are some very basic activities organized by our school. The two year gap caused due to the pandemic did not deter the school from participating in Swachhata Pakhwada.

Digital posters were created to make sure the message of Importance of Cleanliness reaches one and all.

"Swachhata Pakhwada" as a part of "Swachhta Abhiyan" was initiated, with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhata - meaning Cleanliness. To support this great initiative of GOI and to create an awareness about the need of cleanliness, from 1 to 15 September 2022, St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School organized many activities to observe Swachhata Pakhwada.

The senior students worked closely with the Physical Education Department to make sure that the entire fortnight was meaningful with positive outcomes. Activities such as poster making, slogan writing, pamphlet designing on the topic ‘Fighting Corona through COVID Appropriate Behaviour and Vaccination, Water Conservation, Elimination of single use Plastic’ were conducted. The students participated in all the activities very enthusiastically.

At St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, New Delhi, we believe that each and every individual needs to be responsible to keep the surroundings clean. The surroundings should be clean so that we can breathe in the clean and healthy air. A clean & fresh surrounding leads to a healthy atmosphere. Healthy citizens would mean a healthy nation and that’s what we believe in. We, truly, support the initiative – Swachh Bharat Abhiyan taken by the Government of India. Hence, the annual Swachhata Pakhwada is observed diligently. Here are some work done by our students to make people aware of the Importance of Cleanliness.
