Zonal Level Science Exhibition - (2019)

"Learning and innovation go hand in hand".

Young innovators with an experimental mindset brought to the school by winning positions in Zonal Level Science Exhibition. The winners were Hardik Garg (IX-E), Shreyas Dubey (IX-D), Meher Singh (X-G), Kushagra Batra (X-G), Sneha Sharma (XI-D), Vashita (XI-C), Chaitanya Arora (XI-E) and Manmeet Singh (XI-E). The winners will compete with best of the students from all over Delhi in the next round of Science Exhibition.

The young debatorsof St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh shine again in the preliminary round of The Ramjas Inter School Debate Competition. Devanshi Mehta (XI-A) was adjudged the most outstanding speaker in the English Debate.

Ikshvaku Rastogi (X-F) was adjudged the most outstanding speaker and the Best Interjector in the Hindi Debate.
SYNC 2018 - (3 November 2018)
A group of 14 students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in SYNC’18 held at New Era Public School on 3 November, 2018. The students had an enriching experience as they participated in various competitions like Multimedia Presentation, Frame by Frame, Swirly Slides and Gaming. In senior section, Khushdeep Dhir (XI-A) and Siddharth Shankar (IX-H) won first prize in Gaming competition. In junior section Kourandeep Kaur and Niharika Gupta of class V won first prize in Swirly slides. They were awarded with trophies.

TERI School of Advanced Studies organised Climate Jamboree –a movement that aims to engage and empower youth to build sustainable future. Ketan Kapoor (XII C), Kabir Singh (XII A), Mukund Bhala (XII C) of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh were among 20 shortlisted participants for “Still More to Life” competition wherein they had submitted digital images and a short narrative depicting a story showcasing the life of any home service provider or community service provider. They attended a two day work lab at TERI School Advanced Studies, Vasant Kunj on 8 and 9 October, 2018. The workshop included technical sessions by experts from the field of photography and photo journalism. Sessions were given to the participants to help them refine their photo stories for final submission for the finale to be held from 1 to 3 November, 2018.

With an aim to promote action towards climate protection and sustainability, 21 students from Classes VII, VIII and IX attended the final event of Climate Jamboree-2018, organised by TERI at Thyagraj stadium on 1 November, 2018. The day began with motivational talk by Mr. Puneet Dalmia (MD Dalmia Bharat Group) and Mr. Nikhil Sahni (Group President Yes Bank) on how to attain sustainable lifestyles followed by technical sessions on "Why Climate Action?" and "Reducing Footprints".

Students had a great learning experience as there were many engaging activities like energy quiz, games and live performances. "Dharma life" conducted a traditional and rural cooking competition along with an interactive session on importance of balanced diet and traditional environment friendly cooking techniques with Mr. Manjit Gill (Corporate Chef ITC group of hotels).

Ketan Kapoor (XII C) who had participated in a competition “Still more to life” wherein he had send photostories of service providers, was one of the winners whose work was selected and exhibited in the event. The Prize distribution was held on 3 November, 2018.

Puzzle Solving is an important learning tool for students as it improves logical thinking and cognitive skills in them. Inter Class Puzzlemania Competition was held for students of Class IX and X of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 30 October, 2018. 36 students participated in this competition. Puzzles like Sudoku, Crossword, Codebreaker and Rubic’s Cube were solved by students. Students were full of enthusiasm and zeal. Altogether it was a great learning experience.

The winners were :

First Prize- Rishabh Gupta (X H), Second Prize- Pranav Mittal (X D), Third Prize – Chaitanya Anand (X G) and Special Prizes were won by Yajat Dayal (IX C) and Khushboo (IX D).

Hindi Olympiad - (28 October 2018)

With immense support and cooperation extended by Hindi Vikas Manch an Olympiad related to our National language Hindi was organized on September 4, 2018 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh.

Classes III to X participated enthusiastically in the Olympiad. Three students Harsh (VIII E), Khushboo (IX D) and Harmeet Singh (X G) of our school were selected as National level winners who are invited in Prize Distribution Ceremony at N.D.M.C., Convention Centre, Jantar Mantar, Sansad Marg, New Delhi on October 28, 2018.

Apart from this award, the following students also won different medals:-

International Robotics Competition (IRC) 2018 - (27 October 2018)

IRC 2018 qualifier for the national was held in Maurya Public School, Gurugram, on 27 October, 2018. 4 students team for the senior level have qualified for the national, which is on 16 December, 2018 in Thyagraj stadium. Students names are : Nandik Dawar (IX A), Paarth Sikka (IX B), Dhruv Kumar (IX G) and Harshit (VIII B).
YMCA Event - (25 and 26 October 2018)
The New Delhi YMCA, Students and Youth Committee organised an "Inter School Talent Contest" held on 25 and 26 October, 2018 at New Delhi YMCA, Tourist Hostel, Heinz Auditorium. Numerous competitions such as painting, debate, dancing, singing, etc. were organised in which our students showcased their talent in singing, debate and painting. It provided the students from different schools a platform to compete in a healthy environment where creativity was tested.

Pulak (XI-F) won the first prize in Debate Competition. Also, Devanshi (XI-A) won the special prize in the Debate Competition. Aaron Rose (VIII-A) and Sneh Bedi (XI-D) participated in the Western Singing competition.

Shreya and Himanshu Nandan of Class (IX-A) participated in the painting competition.

An Inter-Class Computer Competition was held for Classes I to V on 25 October, 2018. The children were supposed to make their projects on MS–Paint, MS-Word and MS- Power Point. About 12-13 children participated from each class. They made some wonderful scenes, attractive posters and amazing presentations. It was a good learning experience for them. The judges also appreciated the performance of the children.

The winners were:

Class I - I Prize - Aadi Aaron Yadav (I C); II Prize- Aarav Gupta (I B); III Prize- Arshiya Anand (I G), Aysuhman Arora (I D) and Consolation Prize was won by Parth Bhardwaj (I A).

Class II - I Prize- Satwika Vuppala (II E); II Prize- Ashmeet Singh Sachdeva (II C); III Prize- Anshika Jain (II F), and Consolation Prize was won by Samit Bansal (II E).

Class III - I Prize- Naveen (III A); II Prize- Angel Arora (III C); III Prize- Bani Kaur (III B), and Consolation Prize was won by Amitoj Kaur (III F).

Class IV - I Prize- Keerat Kaur (IV B); II Prize- Ridhima Gupta (IV F); III Prize- Vansh Gupta (IV E), and Consolation Prize was won by Aryan Madan (IV A).

Class V - I Prize- Kirandeep Kaur (V F); II Prize- Sukhman (V A); III Prize- Aanandita Behl (V B), and Consolation Prize was won by Aryan G.S (V C).

Arcus MUN - (13 and 14 October 2018)

Four students of our school took part in Arcus MUN that took place in GD Goenka Rohini on 13 and 14 October, 2018. Vansham Mudgil (X F) (as the Delegate in North Atlantic Treaty Organisation represented The United States of America and won the Best Delegate Award. His agenda was Tracking the ISIS Leader. It was a continuous crisis committee and he was able to track al Baghdadi.

Arjun Katyal (X D) : participated in AIPPM as Navin Patnaik and won the Best Delegate award. He debated on assessment of 4 years of NDA government in India. Sachkeerat Singh (X E) as delegate of Turkey : in General Assembly was given a Special Mention award. Antriksh Goel (IX C) also participated in UNGA as delegate of UAE and was awarded Verbal Mention. Both the delegates of UNGA debated upon the statehood of Palestine and their agenda was Israel Palestine Conflict.

Manmeet Singh Tuteja (XI E) and Chaitanya Arora (XI E) won the First Prize in school category "Synergy 2018" - A platform for promotion of innovative Ideas and inter disciplinary Research held at SGT University, Gurugram, dates 10 to 12 October, 2018. The competition was among Haryana, Delhi and NCR. Our school presented two projects and both were in the top 20 projects. The second project was made by Kushagra Jain (XII E) and Kanishk Chhabra (XI E). The students won the Trophy, Certificate and Lenovo Tablet.

The students of Classes VII to XII of St. Mark’s Sr.Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in a number of inter school competitions held at CRPF Public School, Rohini during their Pearl Jubilee celebration - VISTAAR from 1 to 5 October 2018. The events they participated in were Shakespearean Character in Court Room, Nature Nurture (Crafts Festival), Veer Rasa Kavita and Erudition Edge - a competition on scientific and mathematical aptitude. The students presented a court scene where 'IAGO', a wicked character from Shakespeare's play 'OTHELLO' was presented in the court room to defend his evil actions in the play.

A group of five students from class XI-XII bagged the Second Prize in the competition named - Shakespearean Character in Court Room. The winner were Bhavya Gauri (XII F), Paarth Arora (XII A), Manas Mehta (XII E), Muktesh Sharma (XII C), Khushdeep Dhir (XI A).

National Genius Search Examination 2018 - (26 September 2018)

National Genius Search Examination 2018 was conducted in our school on 26 September, 2018 wherein the students of Classes IV and V participated in Phase I. This exam focuses on assessment for learning. The multi tasked enhanced MCQs of NGSE improves rapid decision making skills. Out of the 26 students, Lakshmi Pujitha Vuppala (V), Saral Sharma (V), Paarth Bathla (V) and Tuliya Sharma (V) qualified for Phase II Advanced.

A science festival was organised for students of Classes I and II in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh to feed their hunger for knowledge. Many interesting activities related to science, technology, engineering, art and math were conducted. Children loved making LED greeting cards.They were fascinated to see the bubble zone and made amazing drawings using quilling. Making circuits and measuring objects using different measuring tools was entirely a fun experience for them. Our young scientists enjoyed thoroughly as they got hands on experience while performing the experiments.

A group of 14 students from St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in Project Beta 2.0 hosted by Sanskriti School, Chanakyapuri on 18 August, 2018. Our school participated in all the competitions at the event and qualified in the prelims of all the competitions. The on-site event was a great experience for our students. The CEOs of many prominent companies like Snapdeal, 1mg and Nagarro IT were present at the event and interacted with the participating students. Tanmay Chopra (XII F) won the second prize in Monochrome (Website Designing event) and Harshit Behl (XI E) and Nitigya Dutt (XI E) won the first prize in Idea Pitching event. Our school also won the best performing school award at Project Beta 2.0, and received a trophy and a cash prize of INR 10,000.

Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh are the proud winners of the St. Francis Inter-school Debate Competition. Sanah Malik (XI A) was adjudged the best speaker, against the motion and Pratishtha Verhwani (XII C) was adjudged the best interjector. Our school also won the overall trophy.

An Inter Class Hindi Play Competition for Classes VII and IX was held on 1 August, 2018. The Class VII plays were based on various themes like Comedy, Mythology, Contemporary and Classic. The theme for Class IX plays was ‘Chal chitra ki duniya se’. The Best Play was bagged by ‘Parda Uthane Se Pehle’ in Class VII and in Class IX by ‘Do Aankhen Barah Haath’.

Hindustan times organised the Annual Inter-School PACE Quiz, ‘Inquisitive-2018’ at Talkatora Indoor Stadium. Created by quizzing icon Siddhartha Basu and conducted by Rajiv Makhni, the quiz was open to students from classes IX to XII. Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated with a team of two students, Ishita Arora (X F) and Arjun Katyal (X D), amongst 250 schools of Delhi.

22 Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in various events in Digilogous 2018 organized by Rukmini Devi Public School, Pitampura. The competition was a good platform for the students to showcase their technical skills. Saatvik Bhatnagar (XII E), Anurag Rawat (XII E) and Priyanshu Ahuja (XII F) won second prize in Blitzkrieg (Surprise Event); Harshit Behl (XI F) and Sanah Malik (XI A) won third prize in Idea Pitching; Parth Sikka (IX B) and Daksh (VIII H) won second prize in Robotics; Karandeep Singh (III A) won second prize in Fancy Dress Competition. Students also received cash prizes for their achievements.

Paarth Sikka (IX B) and Dhruv Kumar (IX G) won first prize in Robotics category; Ikshvaku Rastogi (X F) won third prize in App-o-Code; Khushdeep Dhir (XI A) and Tanish Sarkar (X A) won first prize in Game-a-thon; Angel Arora (III C) and Mannat Sachdeva (IV C) won first prize in Logo Tech.

Thirty students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in TAFS Fest - 2018 Inter School Competition at Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan on 30 and 31 July, 2018. The students participated in various competitions like Robotics, Photography, Paint Brush, Power-Point, and Shark tank. In Senior Section Aradhya Katyal (VIII B), Dhruv Kumar (IX G), Nandik Dawar (IX A) and Patrh Sikka (IX B) won the runners up trophy for ROBO Maze, Mukesh Sharma (XII C) and Shreyas Dubey (IX E) won the runners up trophy in Shark Tank (Idea Pitching). In Junior Section Niharika Gupta (V E) and Marilyn Lazaurus (V B) also won the runners up trophy in Fire in the Belly (Power Point).

The students participated in Game Play and Idea Pitching Competition. Sanah Malik (XI-A) and Harshit Behl (XI-F) won the First Prize in Idea Pitching Competition. Vansham Mudgil (X-F) of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in the Serenity Model United Nations held at Institute of Management and Technology, Faridabad on 23 and 24 June 2018. He participated as the delegate of Russian Federation in the committee the United Nations General Assembly. He debated upon threats to nuclear security concerns and nuclear terrorism. In intensive debating session spanning two days delegate talked about establishment of a Nuclear Weapon Free Zone in Middle East. His views were appreciated and he won the High Commendation Award.

Solo Singing Competition for Classes II and III was held on 9 May, 2018 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Some of the songs sung by Class II were ‘Bless the Lord O’my soul’, ‘Brown girl’ and by Class III were ‘I have a dream’, ‘Una Paloma Blanca’. They were appreciated and encouraged by the Vice Principal and the Judges.

Third Prize – Saisha Goswami (II G) and

Eight member delegation of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in Model United Nations competition hosted by Holy Child School on 27 and 28 April, 2018. The delegates represented countries like China, Bulgaria, Belgium, Canada, Cuba and intensively debated on issues such as situation in Syria, Cryto Currency, UN reforms etc. Six delegates won accolades in the following order:

Sanah Malik (XI A) - Best Delegate; Manpreet Kaur (XI E) - Best Delegate; Vishruti Priyanshi (XI A) -High Commendation; Ishika Chauhan (XI E) - Special Mention; Divyanshi Arora (XI B) - Special Mention; Rashmeet Kaur (XII E) - Verbal Mention.

The Best School Delegation trophy was also won by our school.

Five students of Class I - Arnav Suri (I A), Aavya Pandey (I B), Pihu Makan (I B), Tia Mahajan (I C), Pearl Sarwa (I E) of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in the Inter School CompetitionFiesta Vista’ held at Vikas Bharati Public School, Rohini on 28 April, 2018. The students depicted the festival Janmashtami and the Leelas of Krishna. The students won the Second Prize in the competition.

Three students of Classes II and III - Heet Ginotra (II C), Abhishree Tyagi (II C), Sia Sehgal (III C) participated in the event ‘Portray your Sway‘ (Character Dramatization). They depicted the characters of the famous fairy tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. They won the First Prize in the competition and brought glory to the school.

Mukund Sarda (X C), Manan Bawa (X D), Shreya Sinha (IX A) and Yajat Dayal (IX C) of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in an event ‘Mathema’ (Mathematical Darshan) in DLDAV, Shalimar Bagh on 27 April, 2018 and won first prize. In this event, students displayed their creativity on conic sections on a board of size 6 ft. by 4 ft. followed by VIVA questions asked by the judges.

Twenty students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in the IIMUN conference hosted by Bal Bharti School Dwarka on 21 and 22 April, 2018 in Committees such as ECOFIN, ECOSOC, North Atlantic Treaty Council, Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha and International Press (journalism) and extensively debated on issues such as educational reforms, Validity of Art. 377 and issue of reservation along with threats of cryto currency, urgent steps to improve conditions of women worldwide as well as Yemen crisis. Arjun Katyal (X D) won the award for Best Delegate in Lok Sabha and Janhvi Batra (X D) won Special Mention award in the same committee debating on LGBT rights. Sachkeerat Singh (X C) won Special Mention Award in ECOSOC defending gender equality as delegate of Sweden. Sanat Wadhera (X H) won the Best Delegate award representing AAP Party in Vidhan Sabha. Lavisha Rajpal (XII B) was accorded verbal mention in the same committee. Vansham Mudgil (X F) and Maahir Kohli (X H) won special mention as delegates of Ivory Coast in NATC. Sneh Bedi (XI D) was adjudged as the Best Reporter on basis of her coverage of ECOFIN committee.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony for Silverzone Olympiads was held in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh to felicitate the position holders. Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal and Vice Principals Ms. R. Anand and Ms. A. Gupta felicitated the students for various categories. The students who won Special Prizes (wrist watches) for Level 1 are Angel Arora (II C) – Olympiad Rank 6 for Informatics ; Arshi Goel (II D) – Olympiad Rank 9 for Informatics. Amey Aggarwal (III C) won a pen for being the State Rank Holder 3 for General Knowledge.

Angel Arora (II C) also won a Bronze Medal and a penfor being the State Rank Holder 3 for Science (Level 2).

GETS Elementary - (2018)

Students of classes III and IVOF St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh received the GETS Elementary Certificate for passing the English Language Competency Test. This examination tested the proficiency of students in the four basic skills that is Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.

The Final Round of Third Korea Friendship Quiz Competition 2018 was held on 3 May, 2018 at NCUI Auditorium & Convention Centre. Shivay Vinaik (X B) of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in the Final round and received a trophy & a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 as a token of appreciation as he was amongst top 5 students of the total 20,000 participants from different schools of Delhi.

The entire programme was organised by the Korean Cultural Centre and the Guest of Honour was His Excellency, Mr. Shin Bong - Kil, the Ambassador of Republic of Korea to India.

Times NIE and IMS Aptitude Test : 2018-19 - (16 April 2018)

The Times Group (Times NIE) and IMS conducted an Aptitude Test for all the students of Classes XI and XII of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 16 April, 2018. The test aims at evaluating what the student has already learned and also predict their future capability. Each student received a participation certificate and the class toppers received Amazon voucher worth Rs. 2,000/-.

Moot Court Competition at St. Stephens College - (31 March and 1 April 2018)

Public School, Meera Bagh i.e., Tanishq Juneja (XII A), Kabir Singh (XII A) and Manas Mehta (XII E) participated in a Moot Court competition organised by St. Stephens College on 31 March and 1 April, 2018. A moot court is like asimulation of an actual court where students have to argue upon a fictional case given to them. The students present amemorial highlighting the main facts of case and thereafterpresent the case from the perspective of prosecution as well as defendant. It was enriching experience for the studentsas they interacted with other students from numerous lawcolleges and prestigious schools of Delhi and NCR region andattempted to study our judicial system and nuances oflaw.
We Shine at Ramjas Model United Nations - (17 and 18 March 2018)

Public School, Meera Bagh went to Ramjas College on 17 and 18 March, 2018 to attend a two day Model United Nations Conference. Two students took part in the North Atlantic Treaty Council which discussed strategic and risk containment policy of eastern Ukraine and 3 students went to All Indian Political Parties Meet. They debated and discussed the sedition laws and its repercussions.

Vansham Mudgil (IX F) as the delegate of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the North Atlantic Council won the special mention award.

An Annual Event of Inter School Art Contest ‘Budding Artists’ was conducted in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 3 February, 2018. It was an amazing colourful treat for the eyes where 275 students of Classes IV to XII of 18 schools played with various colourmediums and splashed them on the sheet. They came up with amazing ideas and concepts and projected their thoughts on paper and canvas. It was a colourful bliss to watch these amazing budding artists blooming out and shining bright. Ms. Indira Poddar, Mr. Pradeep Maan and, Ms. Charulata, brilliant artists graced and judged this occasion.

The students of our school who won were :-

The first round of Korea Quiz Contest 2018 was conducted in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 31 January, 2018 for Classes VIII, IX and XI. It is a great way of enhancing the awareness of students about the social, economic and political life of South Korea. The top 10 students from our school qualified for the second round of Korea Quiz Contest are Gheshna Gulati (IX E), Bhavya Gupta (IX E), Aditya Jain (IX E), Balkaran Singh (IX C), Mukund Sarna (IX C), Bhavdeep Singh (IX G), Shivay Vinaik (IX B), Saatvik Bhatnagar (XI E), Raunaq Kumar (XI C) and Arshnoor Singh (XI C).

Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh aspire for global citizenship, believe in universal values and showcase the Best of India to the Rest of the World.

12 students alongwith teacher incharge Ms. S. Malik participated in the Model United Nations at Gems World School, Singapore from 18 to 23 January, 2018. It was a truly educational and fun – filled experience as the students strove to represent India and St. Mark’s to the best of their ability. The students participated as delegates in Security Council and debated on South China Sea Conflict in Lok Sabha to argue on viability of AMRUT cities and in DISEC on Cyber Crime and how to deal with it. The school received the Second Runners Up Trophy. Maahir Kohli (IX H) and Vansham Mudgil (IX F) won High Commendation; Sachkeerat Singh (IX E) won Special mention and Pearl Lamba (IX H) and Mehak Gupta (IX G) got Verbal Mention.

After the gruelling sessions the students also had a rejuvenating experience through local sightseeing. They visited the botanical marvel : Gardens by the Bay, the mesmerizing Marina Bay Bands, posed next to the Merlion Statue and had a fun filed day at Universal Studios and explored the malls at Orchard Road as well as the bylanes of China Town.
