Sports has a range of physical and developmental benefits for young students. Introducing them to football at a very young age is a joyful thing. We feel we give them an experience that's s exciting, and with more and more experiences, it could inspire enjoyment and participation that will go beyond school years.

Shashwat Kumar (VI-G), Luvish Singhal (VI-D), Priyanshu Jaiswal (VI-A), Ankush Yadav (VI-A), Chaitanya Gandhi (VI-A), Tanish Malhotra (VI-D), Aarush Khurana (VI-B), Parav Goel (VI H), Ekas Arora (VI-G), Manan Bhandari (VI-G), Arnav Pahuja (VI-E) and Harsh (VI-G) played a football match with the British School on 7 September, 2019 and won by three goals to two (3-2). Parav (VI-H) and Lavish (VI-D) scored a goal each which was equalised by the British School. But it was the brilliance of Parav, in the dying minutes of the second half, when he scored a beautiful goal bringing glory to our team.

Students of Class X G of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated National Sports Day to mark the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. Students prepared an informative board and showed a Power Point Presentation followed by a quiz in all the sections of Class X.

Aditya Gakhar (XI-B) participated in 2nd Open National Karate Championship, held at Ludhiana, Punjab, on 7 October, 2018. Out of 50 participants, he won the Gold Medal in the U – 18 Senior Boys’ category.

Dr. Stya Paul Inter School Chess Tournament - (2 to 4 August 2018)
Five students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in Dr. Stya Paul Inter School Chess Tournament organised by Apeejay School, Pitampura from 2 to 4 August, 2018. Many schools participated in this tournament. Aashita Sethi (IX F) and Aashman Gupta (VI D) played well. We secured 8th rank in this tournament.

Students of our school participated in the First KG Khosla Memorial Inter School Roller Skating Championship organised by Gyan Mandir Public School, Naraina Vihar on 18 April, 2018. Our students secured the First Overall Runners Up Trophy.

The winners were :-

Quads 200 meters – Gold Medal – Akrishty (II D).

Quads 300 meters – Gold Medal – Ranveer Singh (VI E), Yash Lakra (VII D). Silver Medal – Prisha Jain (VII D) and Bronze Medal – Shreya Khurana (V D).

Inline 300 meters – Silver Medal – Tatvayay (IV F), Reet (IV E), Ishtia Verma (VII D), Kyna (III A). Bronze Medal – Sidhant (III D) and Kriti (III A).

On March 17, 2018 St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh organised Annual Sports Day for the Primary students. Students of Classes I to V participated in the various events namely Flat Race, Lemon and Spoon Race, Three Legged Race, Hurdle and Sack Race and Ball Relays. Students participated in the events from their respective houses. They also took part in Skating and Lawn Tennis events. They enjoyed a lot and performed with a lot of enthusiasm. Medals were given to the winners by Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal and Vice Principals Ms. A. Gupta and Ms. R. Anand.
Junior Sports Olympics 2018 - (30 January to 2 February 2018)

Students of Classes I to VI of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in Junior Sports Olympics 2018 held at Thyagraj Stadium from 30 January to 2 February, 2018. It was a matter of pride when the primary athletic team of Classes III and IV Boys won the Overall Champions Trophy. A total of 58 medals were won by our teams which comprised of 17 Gold medals, 16 Silver medals and 25 Bronze medals. 36 schools from all over Delhi and NCR participated in this Olympics. Relay teams of Classes II, IV, V and VI Boys showed an excellent performance in this competition.

29th Delhi State ITF Taekwondo Championship 2017 - (30 November to 3 December 2017)

The competition was held at Thyagraj Indoor Stadium, New Delhi from 30 November to 3 December, 2017.

Around 600-800 children participated in it.

Twisha won the silver medal in 15-20 weight category in female below 15 years.
Inaugural Ceremony of SYNERGY : 2017 – An Inter School Games & Sports Fest - (7 November 2017)
SYNERGY - The Inter School Games & Sports Fest was inaugurated on 7 November 2017. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Ms. Anita Roy, Additional Commisioner of Delhi Police and Mr. Carlton Chapman, Former Captain of Indian Football Team.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with a marchpast by the budding sportsmen of 26 participating schools. It was followed by the torch lighting ceremony by all the dignitaries. The torch bearers were our national achievers - Manan Shingari (X-A) (Badminton), Vivek Sehrawat (XII-A) (Athlete) and our sports captains Jasmeet Singh (XII-B), Rinky Nair (XII-B). The oath taking ceremony was followed by a cultural programme with a spectrum of performances which ranged from Classical to Zumba to fitness through Yoga and Self defence. The highlight of the programme was choreogrophy based on a theme of patriotism which mesmerised the spectators.

Students from twenty Six Schools from Delhi will participate in nine varied games such as Cricket, Handball, Roller Skating, Football, Basketball, Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton etc. Roller Hockey (Boys).

A very proud moment for St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh as at the 1st South Asian 3 A Side Roller Hockey Championship 2017 held in Bangkok recently, Lakshay Malik (VI-G) and Yash Lakra (VI-D) won the bronze medal in the Under 11 category, Tamanna Mohan (VIII-H) won the Silver medal in Under 14 girls category and Taranveer Singh (X-E) won a Silver medal in under 17 boys category.

Roller Hockey India Camp - (1 to 3 September 2017)
Roller Hockey India Camp was organised from 1 to 3 September, 2017 in Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh by the Roller Hockey Federation for the selection for Asian Roller Hockey Championship to be held in Thailand from 6 to 9 October 2017. Seven students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in this camp (Taranveer Singh Gandhi (X E), Divyam Behl (X C), Yash Lakra (VI D), Harsh Lakra (VI D), Lakshay Malik (VI G), Gursahej Singh (VI D) and Tamanna Mohan (VIII H)).

Four player have been selected in this event. They are Tamanna Mohan (VIII H), Taranveer Singh Gandhi (X E), Lakshay Malik (VI G) and Yash Lakra (VI D).

29 August, 2017 was celebrated as ‘Major Dhyan Chand’s Birthday’ also known as the ‘National Sports Day’. A bulletin board made by Class IX C of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh was displayed at the school reception. A presentation, regarding Dhyan Chand’s life was shown, alongwith two orators giving a brief description of his life, followed by a quiz in all sections of Class IX.

The Football team of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in the 8th Archbishop Angelo Fernandes Memorial Football Tournament held at St. Michael's School from 24 to 27 July, 2017 and won the Championship. Our team defeated some of the best teams in Delhi to reach the finals and defeated St. Xavier's School, Raj Niwas Marg, New Delhi by 2-1 in the final match of the tournament.

Prashant Khurana (XI D) was named the Best Player of the Tournament.

Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh - Arzoo (X-B) won four gold medals and Arjav Singh (VII-B) won three gold medals in the Balaji Swimming Competition held on 18 June, 2017 at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tagore Garden. It was an open tournament and both of them participated in different events and won number of medals.

Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in Inter School Roller Hockey Tournament 2017 held in Sophia Girls School, Meerut Cantt. on19 and 20 May, 2017. Our Junior boys team secured Gold Medal and our Sub Junior boys team secured Bronze Medal.

The Junior Boys team comprised of Taranveer Singh Gandhi (X E), Raj Gupta (IX A), Rishabh Gupta (IX H), Ayush Khurana (VIII H), Dhruv Bansal (IX G), Nimit Goel (IX C), Divyam Bhel (X D), Hrayank Dua (IX H), Harmeet Singh (IX A).

The Sub Junior Boys team comprised of Garv Pahwa (VI B), Mannan Aggarwal (VI C), Dhruv Datta (VII D), Tegpreet Singh (VI B), Gureshaj Singh (VI D), Shaurya Seth (IV B), Rehan (IV B), Lakshay Malik (VI G).

Public School, Meera Bagh participated in the Croire U–14 Cricket Youth Cup held at Gurgaon from 13 April, 2017 to 25 April, 2017. Our team reached the Quarter final of the tournament. Our team won three matches in the league stage.

Our team defeated Ajanta Public School, Gurgaon; Suncity World School, Gurgaon and Gyan Mandir School, Naraina in league matches and Ayush Saini (IX-D), Khush Nagpal (IX-H) and Yajat Dayal (VIII-F) were awarded Man of the Match with a cap and trophy for their good performances.

The Cricket team of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated and reached in the semi final of Sumermal Jain Inter school U - 12 Cricket Tournament held from 7 to 15 December, 2016. Our school team defeated New Era Public School, Janak Puri by 7 wickets in the first match. Yash Bansal (VI F) was awarded Man of the Match with a trophy and certificate. Our school team defeated Bal Bharti Public School, Ganga Ram Marg by 8 wickets in the second match. Tarun Kumar (VI H) was awarded Man of the Match with a trophy and a certificate.

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh organised Synergy – Inter School Games and Sports Fest from 22 to 25 November, 2016. The Chief Guest was Mr. Lalit Mathur, noted Sprinter who represented India in Rio Olympics. Along with him, Mr. Mukesh Vats (Coach of Mr. Lalit Mathur), Mr. Ajwant Drall (Coach, Indian Volleyball Team) and Ms. Preeti Jangra (International Handball Player) were the Special Guests for the day. 1100 students from 25 schools of Delhi participated in nine varied games such as Cricket, Handball, Roller Hockey, Volleyball, Football, etc. Officials from Sports Association were invited to ensure fair conduct of games.

The event was declared open with the hoisting of the school flag and lighting the Synergy flame. The overall result revealed that St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh amassed a grand total of 92 points but as per rules, the host school was not eligible for the Championship trophy, hence it was won by Bal Bharti School, Pitampura who achieved a score of 70 points and St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Janakpuri bagged the Runner’s Up Trophy with a total of 20 points. All the teams participated with zeal and enthusiasm. Synergy was sponsored by Ratna Sagar P. Ltd., Bookmate Publishers, Goyal Brothers Prakashan, Srijan Publishers P. Ltd., APC Books and Navdeep Publications.

The cricket team of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in the tournament and emerged as the pool champion and a semi - finalist. Our team won the matches against New Delhi Public School, Vikas Puri (Man of the Match - Kartik Verma XII A), Cambridge Foundation School, Rajouri Garden (Man of the Match - Kshitij Atrishi XI B), NC. Jindal Public School, Punjabi Bagh and reached the pre - quarter final stage.

In the pre - quarter final match our school defeated Mount Abu Public School, Rohini (Man of the Match - Kartik Verma XII A) at Jamia University Cricket ground. The Quarter final match was held at Nahar Singh Stadium, Faridabad between St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh and Delhi Public School, Gurgaon. Our team defeated Delhi Public School, Gurgaon by 6 wickets with a man of the match performance by Gursimar Singh (X E). Our team played the semi- final match against Modern School, Barakhamba Road in which we lost the match in a good contest.

Our school was awarded with a pool champion trophy in the grand finale felicitation programme on 4 February, 2015 at Nahar Singh Stadium, Faridabad. The team of Junior students comprising of Varun Sethi (VIII A), Bharat (IX D), Rinky (IX E) and Diksha Mudgil (VIII B) participated in 3 Kms race where they secured III position in their heats and the Senior students namely Dhairya Taneja (XI D), Sanya Shingari (X F), Shubham Rawat (IX D) and Pratyaksh Yadav (X D) participated in 5 kms race where they secured II position in their heats.

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh won the Boys Junior Team Championship.

The school team comprised of Kartik Sachdeva (V-G), Shivansh Aggarwal (III-C), Dhananjay Chawla (IV-D) and Rishabh Singh (V-B). The Girls Junior Team Championship was also bagged by our school and the team comprised of Muskan Goel (V-D) and Yashna Kapoor (V-D).

St. Mark's Senior Secondary School hosted St. Mark's Open Tennis Tournament from 10th to 19th October 2013. The tournament was organized by Team Tennis Academy. More than 150 participants from all over Delhi participated in the event in various categories like under 8 (Rally and Aptitude test) Under 10 (Rally and Aptitude test),12, 14 & 18 Boys and Girls. Special skills based event called aptitude test was organized for beginners. All participants received certificates. Winner and Runners up were awarded with trophies and certificates. Third position holders were also awarded with medals and certificates.

St. Mark’s Inter Class Tennis Tournament - (11 to 20 September 2013)
Team Tennis conducted their 1st St. Marks Inter Class Tennis Tournament in the month of September 2013. The tournament had more than 350 participants while St. Marks Sr. Sec. Girls School had 250 participants in total.

The aim was to introduce students to competition and test them on the various skills taught during the last six months. Students of Classes I to III took part in the Aptitude test (special skill based event) and Classes IV and V played Mini Tennis Rally event. Winner and Runner-up of all events were awarded with Medals and certificates.

Inter School Shooting Competition - (16 to 18 August 2013)
Vrinda Girotra (IX-E) has hit a stroke as she participated in the Delhi State Inter school Shooting ChampionshipVrinda Girotra (IX-E) has hit a stroke as she participated in the Delhi State Inter school Shooting Championship, which was held at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, Tughlakabad, from 16 to18 August 2013.

She won the Gold Medal in 10m air pistol and has qualified for the All India Inter School Shooting Championship.

All India Trekking Camp - (3 to 14 June 2013)
N.C.C. Directorate organized an All India Trekking Camp through (though Himachal Pradesh) at Vaijnath at Paprola from 3 to 14 June 2013. 50 cadets from different schools and colleges of Delhi Directorate attended this camp. 12 Cadets from St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, attended this camp with Ms. Preeti Sharma. During trekking they visited different places Mahakal Temple, Tashi Jong, Vaijnath Tempe, Chamunda Devi Temple, Zoo, Tibet Monastery, Billing Paragliding Point and Veer Camp. Students completed this programme with full zeal and enthusiasm and got a good knowledge of diverse culture of India.

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, organized the Annual Sports Meet for primary section, which included Athletics, Skating and Lawn Tennis events. Students of classes I to V participated in the meet with full enthusiasm. The Principal, Vice Principal and Educational Supervisor gave away the prizes to the proud winners in the prize distribution ceremony.
Students of St. Mark’s School Meera Bagh, at Rocksport Challenge - (30 December 2012)
On 30 December 2012, students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, went for the semifinal of The Rocksport Challenge in Tyagaraj Stadium. They had to run 1600 meters and there were many hurdles in their way to success. The team which consisted of four members secured position amongst top 3. The final round which was in camp Tikkling, Gurgaon on 19 January 2013 had rock climbing, crossing the commando net, Kargil heights, crawl in wet mud to complete 3 k.m of race. Students had a lot of fun and a great experience. They met Runvijay Singh, the winner of Roadies 1. They bagged the second runners up position and received a gift voucher. The team members were Pratishtha Vij (VIII-B), Mohit Arora (VIII-D), Sanchita Gupta (VIII-A) and Bhavya Jaggi (VIII-G).
Arsenal Football Coaches at St. Mark's Meera Bagh (4 April 2012)
On 4th April 2012, two Football Coach Mr. Adam Campbell and Mr. Ali Khan Popet, from Arsenal Football Club, a premiership football club from EPL, England, visited St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, to enhance the soccer skills of the students. 52 upcoming soccer players from the school were divided into two groups and were trained for 1 hour. They were taught Passing and dribbling skills using modern concept of Soccer i.e. Grids, maximum number of touch and one ball per player. Students not only enjoyed the training but also learned the techniques. A group of 48 children from ANGELS Academy, Vikaspuri were also trained by these coaches in the II session. They took part in training with a lot of enthusiasm and energy. After training they were gifted Arsenal T-Shirts, Shirts, Stockings, Shin pads and two footballs.

Aashita Sethi, student of class II-B of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, won the fourth position in Under-7 Category of Delhi State Chess Championship.

The event was organized by Delhi Chess Association affiliated to All India Chess Federation. Aashita scored3/4 points in the tournament. The competition was held at Amity International School, Pushp Vihar, New Delhi. Many students from different schools of Delhi participated in the event.
St. Mark's Meera Bagh, successfully hosts the Annual Sports Meet for Juniors (24 February 2011)
The Primary Wing of St. Mark’s Sr.Sec.Public School, Meera Bagh, had their Annual Sports Meet on 24th and 25th February 2011. After the ceremonial inauguration of the Meet by the Vice Principal Ms. V. Wahi, students of classes I to V gathered at the venue enthusiastically to participate in the track events.

The field events held on 25th February were held for the first time for the primary students. These included Football and Throwball for classes IV & V. ‘Hitting the Target’ for class III, ‘Treasure Hunt’ for class II and ‘Roll the Ball’ for class I. There was a mass participation in all the events and the sports meet was a grand success.
64 Square Chess Tournament
The little Chess player Aashita Sethi of class I B of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in the 64 Square Chess Tournament, U – 8 Category, organized by India Bulls. The tournament was held at National Sports Club of India for 3 days i.e., from 24 to 26 September 2010. 80 students from various schools of Delhi participated in the U – 8 category. Aashita did everyone proud by standing IV in the competition.
St. Mark's Student bags First Position
Siya Gautam of class II-D of St.Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, did the school proud by winning the I prize at the 49th Delhi State Gymnastic Championship held from 9th to 13th Feb.2010, organized by Delhi Gymnastic Association at Govt.Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya, Subhash Nagar. There were around 50 participants from different schools.

WE SUCCESSFULLY HOST THE ANNUAL SPORTS MEET
Annual Sports MeetThe most important thing in games is not winning but taking part . . . . The essential thing is not conquering but fighting well.

The above maxim forms the basis of our Annual Sports Meet. The Primary Wing had their Sports events on 10 November 2009. As the students of various Houses marched on, the Principal took the salute and the Vice Principal lit the flame. To maintain the sanctity of the Sports Day, the students took an oath and pledged to abide by the rules.

Then the Principal declared the meet open. There were lots of events for the day like – 50m Race, 100m Race, Sack & Hurdle Race, Lemon & Spoon Race, Three Legged Race, Relay Races and various Skating events. The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The day came to a close with the Prize Distribution.

Harbir Bassi - (XII E) - Outstanding Player of the YearThe seniors played games like Football, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Basket Ball, Badminton and Cricket which were successfully held on 11 and 12 November 2009.

On 13 November 2009, we had the Senior Athletic Meet, followed by the Prize distribution ceremony which was graced by our Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal. Gandhi House lifted the Champion Trophy.

Prateek S. Suri, student of Class IV A of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh started learning Karate at the age of 6 years. A keen learner and consistent performer, he's been winning various competitions since then.

He won the first position in All India Seiko-Kai-Karate-Do Championship in May 2009. Also ranked 4th KYU and awarded the Brown Belt in May 2009, he won the first position in 9th Delhi State Karate-Do Championship Kad Fight and was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2500/-.

Skating is his other interest and he won the third position in Skating in January 2009.
