Keeping this in mind, students of classes Nursery and KG engaged in various activities as a part of the Book Week. The little readers of class Nursery contributed towards Book Week by crafting beautiful Bookmarks.
Students of class KG prepared face masks of their favourite story characters. Students got an amazing opportunity to explore the wonderful world of books and enhance their vocabulary.
Students of Classes l to lX celebrated 'Book Week' in their own special ways as they immersed themselves into the world of books and engaged in various literary activities.
They participated in activities like Every Dress Tells a Tale, Story Chain, Book Genre Corner, Interviewing an Author, Poetry Relay, Poem Composition and Recitation, Curiosity Killed the Cat and Literary Newspaper.
The activities fostered creativity in students and helped them in improving their communication skills. |

At St. Mark’s School Janakpuri, we aim to encourage our students to develop a life-long love of reading. Thus, to inculcate the habit of reading in them, we celebrated the 'Book Week' from 28th November to 2nd December 2023. The week commenced with the inauguration of the Scholastic Book Fair on 28 November 2023 by our Principal Ma'am, Ms. Inderpreet Kaur Ahluwalia.
Throughout the week, students enjoyed the opportunity to explore books of different genres and immersed themselves in the world of literature. |

In the Book week event, an engaging storytelling session was organised for the students of Class ll on 30 November 2023. The resource person, Ms. Neeta Joshi, enriched their young minds with the intriguing tale of 'The Magical Pasta Pot'. She skillfully enchanted the audience with her animated expressions and gestures, turning the room into a theater of wonder. As the story unfolded, a palpable sense of excitement and curiosity filled the room, fostering a love for narratives amongst the listeners.
The experience not only entertained the students and enriched them with impressive hearing skills, but also contributed to their cognitive and emotional development. |

Students of Class IV of our school got the opportunity to attend a book launch event at Sri. Venkateshwar International School, Dwarka, organised by Scholastic, where author Devika Anand Gupta launched her brand new story book 'Why Can't I'. The magical atmosphere, engaging activities, and personal interactions with the author made the experience wholesome for the students. The event opened doors to the magical world of literature for students, sparked their creativity and fostered within them a lifelong love for reading. As students left with their signed copies, it was evident that the book would forever hold a special place in their hearts, igniting their love for storytelling and imaginative adventures. |

To enhance and broaden the learning experience of our students, St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Janakpuri, celebrated BOOK WEEK from December 13 to December 17. As a part of this observance a plethora of activities were organized for various classes.
Students of Classes Nursery and KG engaged in a number of literary exercises as part of the Book Week. They participated in activities like Book Mark Making, Exploring the Tales, Making a Phonics Wall, Word Search, Hooked in the Book and Identifying Sight Words. Students got an amazing opportunity to explore the wonderful world of reading and enhance their vocabulary.

As a part of this observance, PICTIONARY making activity was organised for the students of class VI, wherein they were asked to write a new word beginning with Alphabets A-Z, in their scrapbook, along with its meaning and picture. Also, it proved to be a golden opportunity for our young minds to augment their vocabulary and logical thinking skills.
Three Winners were selected in terms of presentation, choice of words, artistry and intelligence:

The students of grade VII enthusiastically participated in the activity named Poetry Relay, which gave them an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence.
The students came up with different poems and recited one stanza each, with great fondness and zeal. This continued in a loop until the poem finished along with the dramatization. Students enjoyed the perfection of expression, thoughts, emotions, rhythm and music of words.

The activity ‘Creating Literary Newspapers’ was organized for the students of grade VIII, wherein they had to divide themselves into groups of 4-5 and prepare a newspaper that contained literary information, creative corner, poetry puzzles, word games etc.
The activity gave wings to their talent, innovativeness and imagination. All of them participated in the activity with great enthusiasm.
Following suit,as part of the Book Week Celebration, an activity was conducted for the students of Class IX, wherein they divided themselves into pairs of two and prepared a literary scroll on the topic Literary Eras. They were also required to write a few lines on each era along with pictures.
The students made beautiful scrolls and also developed an understanding of the literary eras. They participated with great enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
A Creative Writing activity entitled 'Terribly Tiny Tales' was organised for the students of class XI as a part of Book Week Celebration. The students participated in it whole-heartedly by writing stories on various topics like Childhood, Society, Family, Humour, Mystery, Patriotism, Friendship, etc.
They had put in tremendous efforts to make this event a successful one. They expressed themselves with clarity and precision.

Our school observed its annual BOOK WEEK from 10th to 15th December 2018 along with a week-long book exhibition in collaboration with Scholastic Publication.
A wide range of literary activities were conducted for students to develop and refine their taste for books and to encourage them to read.
The following class activities were carried out throughout the week :
Class I Visit to the library.
Class II Visit to the library.
Class III Quiz on Fairy tales. A story telling session by Ms. Nidhi Ghosh from Scholastic Publications engaged the students as they weaved a story.
Class IV students made beautiful paper bags and decorated them with pictures and cutouts of characters and scenes from the different stories.
Class V students made beautiful book racks using shoe boxes and created stories from Enid Blyton series on them. It was a wonderful learning experience for them. An author’s meet was held with Ms. Deepa Agarwal, an eminent writer, poet and translator for the students. She writes both for adults and children and has won NCERT Award for her historical fiction.
Class VI Spelling bee. Ms. Monisha Gupta from Scholastic India took a workshop on Interesting Idioms for the students.

“The World belongs to those who read’’.
Bringing forth the beacon of innovation in Education, our school proudly heralded the most awaited annual event of the school “BOOK WEEK 2017-18” from 15 January to 20 January 2018. Students of Classes I-IX and XI were provided with a plethora of opportunities to interact with different genres of books. As part of the celebration myriad of events and activities were organised, which were enriching and informative for the students. The students participated with zest and enthusiasm.
Details of the activities organised are as follows:
Book Exhibition - The week commenced with the inauguration of book fair by our Principal Ms. Alka Kher on 15 January 2018. The collaborating agency ‘Scholastic’ exhibited the books as per need and requirement of the readers. The fair had had facilitated the students to get acquainted with different books put up at the fair and provided opportunity to them for browsing through the books.
Rendezvous with Ms. Anupa Lal - As part of our constant endeavour to inculcate reading habit in the students, a renowned author, Ms. Anupa Lal, who has written more than 20 books for children during past 35 years, was invited to our school on 16 January 2018 for our students to have a meaningful interaction. The rendezvous began with a story of a kind-hearted monster, who had set out on a quest to save his village from bandits. The next one was about a simple and good-natured labourer who discovered kindness and wealth amongst a group of monkeys when he emerged as the human drum. The final story was about an intelligent and hardworking minister at a King’s court who even managed to build his body while he was held captive by the king. The effective child-friendly approach of the author left the students impressed.
Author Interaction: As a part of one of the events of the Book Week, a workshop was conducted for the students of Classes VII and VIII on Creative Writing’ by the renowned story writer, Ms. Vaijayanti Savant Tonpeon 17 January 2018. It was a very interactive and engaging session for the students who were taught the techniques of story writing. The students were asked to break the frontiers of their imagination, indulge in critical thinking, and compose various pieces of fiction. Character enactment by Ms. Tonpe had students in splits. The students were also given a chance to ask questions related to story writing. The students were delighted with the interaction.
Classroom Challenge Activity: The winner of the Classroom Challenge was Class IVC having the maximum stickers on the last day of the Book Fair.
Lucky Draw:Janvi Arya of IV-F was the winner of the Lucky Draw.
All the fun-packed activities provided children with lots of words, adventure, activities, expansion of knowledge and enjoyment and made the book week a huge success. |
