On 15 November 2010, a team of 90 foreign delegates comprising of teachers and principals of schools of Asia and Europe visited St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School, Meera Bagh. The team comprised of eminent personalities and prominent educationists from the ministry and education department. This visit was organised by Asia Europe Foundation and the delegates were in New Delhi to attend the 9th AEC-NET Conference being held for the first time in India. It was a privilege and honour to have these esteemed guests visit the school, as St. Mark’s was the only school in the city chosen for this visit.
On the arrival, the team arrived was warmly welcomed by the Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, Principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal and her team. The head boy Arsh Marwah and the head girl Aparajita Pandey of the school welcomed the delegates in a traditional manner through arti and tilak. |

The dignitaries were then taken for a visit around the school highlighting the different facilities offered by the school. The team also observed the classes and the varied range of activities offered to the students. They walked through the chemistry, biology and physics laboratories, music room, art room, computer laboratories and were impressed with the school infrastructure. The delegates simply enjoyed their stay in the Home Science lab where they savoured pav bhaji made by the students and found the taste , a mix of east and west They interacted with the Student Council and asked them questions which were well answered. The team interacted with teachers and students and browsed through teachers’ lesson-plans. The students posed challenging questions to the guests, which resulted in an intelligent dialogue and discussion. |

After the observation the team was led to the auditorium of St. Mark’s Girls School where they met the Principal Ms. Sheena Kalinga and appreciated the processes and functioning of the school. The chief guest for the occasion was Dr. Bijender Singh, MLA who warmly welcomed the educationists from Asia and Europe and congratulated St. Mark’s School was successfully holding this conference. Dr. Bijender Singh confirmed that he had a special soft corner for teachers as he himself was a teacher for 20 years. Ms. Shukla Deputy Director of Education Distt. west was the guest of honour who emphasised the se of ICT in schools and appreciated the theme of the conference – Climate Change and Biodiversity. She also praised the efforts of St. Mark’s School in the field of education and applauded the achievements of all its students. Actor and director, Mr. Rahul Aggarwal, was also present who is also a member of Managing Committee of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. |

The gathering witnessed a presentation on the Education System of India and a vibrant cultural programme by the students of St Marks School. The dances artistically performed by the young kids were highly appreciated by the guests. Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, Chairman St. Mark’s group of school felicitated all dignitaries and delegates with mementoes. As a token of friendship and going with the theme of the conference – Climate Change and Biodiversity - Mr. T. P. Aggarwal gifted Mr. Zhang Hongtie a painting made by Aditi Roy, a student of St. Mark’s school which presented nature and biodiversity in its best form. |

It was heartening to see the high appreciation that the team had for the staff and students of the schools and gave the school the motivation to work harder towards reaching even greater heights. |
