Fun combined with learning makes for the best educational experience. St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School held a Science and Maths Exhibition on 4 August 2018 - wherein the students of Classes IV to XII put forth intriguing models, activities and games that beautifully revealed the notion that mathematics and science are the languages with which God has written this universe. Not only were the exhibits profoundly educative, they were simply fun to observe and learn from. As one entered the Kid’s Lab, enthusiastic students were bubbling with energy to reveal the nuances of a candle see-saw, a balloon car and many other such concepts to all who entered their domain. The Bubble Machine of the pupils was spreading around orbs of multi coloured hues that would pop in a few seconds and spread forth the magic of science. Multifarious models like that of a Trebuchet Catapult, Giant Wheel and the Perpetual Motion Machine were captivating and raised one’s curiosity. It was equally mesmerising to watch posterity work on ideas that could well be the saving grace for our human civilisation ... the young students exhibited models based on improved and practical Sewage Treatment Plants, Vacuum Cleaner Coaches, Waste Water Electricity Generation, Automatic Sensor Street Lights etc. Mathematical concepts like the Nine Point Circle, Probability, Diviani’s Theorem, Eutrigon’s Theorem etc were explained with the aid of the most fascinating models. How learning can truly be through hands on activities in the most fun way for beginners as they enter the captivating world of numbers was exhibited through the Addition and Subtraction Machines as well as the use of a Hoopla for explaining the Properties of a Circle. Fun games like the Tower of Hanoi made one see the math in games or one may say ... the games in math. The Research Groups of our industrious students apprised the guests of their BMI and also imparted tips for good health. They explained to the inquisitive parents how the Golden Ratio exists in all that surrounds us and can be easily applied in fields like Fashion Designing. Parents, teachers as well as visiting dignitaries were amazed to see how our students could easily explain to an inquisitive mind the geometry in a Swing Bridge as well as the Best Angle to shoot baskets while playing Basket Ball, and further Compare the Connectivity of two Internet Providers. The students of our school who are working under the project Protsahan had also put up a stall to sell their handmade products whose proceeds are used for the benefit of the underprivileged. This endeavour provided the students with a platform to exhibit their innovations that are but dreams hiding in their consciousness thus proving that Math and Science are the blood of the future.

Benjamin Franklin had understood the true meaning of education when he had said - "Tell me and I forget, Teach me and I remember, Involve me and I learn." In continuation of our untiring pursuit to promote the learning of concepts that lay bare to us the mysteries of this world ... this universe, our school organised a Science and Maths Exhibition on 29 July 2016.

The Exhibition was graced by the presence of Dr. G. S. Tuteja, the Deputy Dean of Delhi University, Dr. Surinder Kr. Jain, a retired Professor of Zakir Hussain College and Dr. Manish Kansal, a Professor at Hindu College. Ms. Lissi Brace, the Principal of Southeast Zealands Sports Boarding School also visited the Exhibition wherein she was left astounded by the praise worthy effort of the students.

Science is the poetry of reality and it was sheer poetry - of concepts and theorems alike, that had been given physical form when one entered the rooms allotted to the scholarly students of Science. In each room, there were exhibits of intriguing creatures, fascinating machines, tantalizing toys and compelling concepts. As the students welcomed the guests who were there to explore their wondrous exhibits, they explained to them notions that seemed complicated but were dealt with in the most non - complex manner. The students reaffirmed the idea that science is a way of thinking for science is made up of mistakes, but they are mistakes which it is useful to make because they lead little by little to the truth.

The rooms allotted to the wizards of Maths were no less intriguing. As one entered the world of numbers, what met one's eye was the practical application of maths that perhaps is not even noticed by the masses. It is interesting to note that people may like to avoid maths , but they love counting, adding to and multiplying their assets while they work on subtracting and dividing their liabilities. This was quite evident at the SMGS Mock Bank where mathematical concepts used in everyday life were highlighted. Further, the engrossing exhibits of the mathematical minds included models based on various concepts, theorems, shapes and derivations. Students who ushered the guests into this maze of numbers, showed them how interesting it is to find one's way around it for life is like maths - it is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out. As the students fielded the volley of questions that came their way, they showed people that Mathematics is the abstract key which turns the lock of the physical universe.

Each guest who walked into this alluring world of Maths and Science was left dazzled by the enchanting exhibits that revealed the praiseworthy effort of the students. The students themselves were astounded to see how they had turned concepts that may seem dull into dazzling exhibits. What one learnt from this endeavour was - never stop questioning - somewhere something incredible is waiting to be found.

It is quite ironical that - ‘The purpose of all War is Peace.’

On 29 November 2014, St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School organized a Social Science Exhibition titled - ‘War and Peace’. Through this exhibition, the school aimed to exhibit all the wars around the world that have shaped the course of history and our world as we know it today. The esteemed guests at the exhibition were Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, the founder Chairman of the school, Mrs. Anjali Aggarwal, the school’s Chairperson and Mr. Rahul Aggarwal, the school’s Manager. In colourful attire, the students danced with great vigour as they declared that the brave are surely those who have the clearest vision of what lies before them - Glory and Death!

After this captivating dance performance, the esteemed guests and parents were taken on a round of the school premises where 23 rooms covered various themes related to war and peace such as the Kalinga War, the Roman Wars, the French Revolution, the Asian Wars, World War I and II, the Cold War, etc. The enlightening round began with the courtyard where the students had tried to answer the intriguing question - ‘Why are wars fought?’ Each room at the exhibition was a visual delight that offered the visitors food for thought as they learnt about the Caliphates and the Crusades, the Spanish and Asian Invasions. Colourful depictions of American Hegemony and Contemporary Wars set their minds ticking while dramatizations of various historical events thoroughly entertained them as well as educated them. As the guests took rounds of rooms based on terrorism and the drug wars, they realized how true conflict has been brought to our very own doorsteps.

The Exhibition -‘War and Peace’ was truly successful as it taught all to aim for the understanding that brings peace and not the peace that passes understanding.

Maths Exhibition - (2014)
"I listen, I forget.
I see, I remember.
I do, I understand."

Comprehension is of utmost importance in Maths. Therefore, to pragmatize the mind boggling concepts of this subject, an exhibition was organised by our school. The gala event which saw the participation of classes VI to XII emerged as a thumping success. The Herculean task of studying mathematics was eased to a great extent. There were student-friendly models on topics ranging from the amicable fractions, shapes and quilt designs by class VI to the comparatively intimidating real nos., congruence, factorization, angles and 3D solids presented by classes VII & VIII. At the secondary level our thinkers put up a commendable show, demonstrating displays on the Pythagoras theorem, Heron's formula and trigonometry with absolute expertise which showed an immaculate understanding of these topics. Senior students came up with spell-binding ideas such as Cell phone transmission tower that was the CENTRE OF ATTENTION. So it is aptly said, "The sky is not the limit, Limits are just confined to our minds."
