Ninth AEC - NET Conference
St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School, Meera Bagh, hosts the 9th Asia- Europe Classroom Network Conference
On 12 November 2010, The Lemon Tree Hotel, Gurgaon, witnessed a confluence of around 100 teachers and principals of about 30 schools of Asia and Europe who had gathered together for the first time in India for the 9th AEC-NET Conference 2010.

It was indeed a proud moment for St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School, Meera Bagh, the only school from India, who is a member of AEC-NET to host this conference. It was a beautiful sight when educators from different countries entered the dining area dressed in their national costumes and mingled with each other. It looked like members of one family were meeting surpassing the borders between nations.

Ms. Carolyn Deshmukh welcomed everyone and expressed her happiness in teachers from Asia and Europe had gathered in India to discuss such prime issues and wished them good luck for a successful conference.

Ms. Anjali Aggarwal, Principal St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School, Meera Bagh, welcomed all guests and delegates to India and highlighted the strengths of this multicultural country.”Gone are the days when India conjured up an image of snake charmers and elephants. Not any more, for, India has emerged as a global hub. Today, India is the most happening country, it has youth power and its economy flourished even when the global market faced a depression”, she said.

The main attraction of the evening was the cultural performance by over 100 students of St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School, Meera Bagh, wherein they showcased the various classical dance forms of India - from Bharatnatyam and Manipuri to Sufi. Also depicted were various folklores which culminated under the canopy of diverse India. A beautiful ballet dance throbbed the hearts of the gathering and left them spellbound. The finale of choral singing on love, peace and togetherness took their breaths away.

All applauded the efforts of the students and thanked Ms. Anjali Aggarwal for her hospitality and warmth.

The Conference will be a platform for educators to exchange ideas and best practices and together surf the waves of change and surface stronger in the recovery of climate and biodiversity. The next four days promise to be engaging and interesting focusing on various issues relating to climate change and use of ICT in schools. Hope all will benefit from these events, and the networking opportunities.
