Inter House Maths Quiz for the students of classes IX to XI of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, was held on 19 December 2013. The quiz started with the elimination round held class wise and house wise. The final two rounds were for the qualified students of the previous rounds. The result is as follows :
First prize was bagged by Patel House consisting of Abhishek Bansal (XI-F), Manan Jain (X-F) and Ashneet Singh (IX-A).
The second prize went to Gandhi House consisting of Hemant Chhabra (XI-C), Mayank Rawal (X-C) and Yashwardhan Verma (IX-G). |
An Inter House Maths Quiz was organized for classes VI to VIII at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, on 19 December 2013. The quiz consisted of eight rounds, testing the students’ wits and quizzing skills. The Rapid Fire round, the Relationship round and the Buzzer round were a great success among the participants. Displaying myriad talents and a spectrum of merits, the best team prize was bagged by the Gandhi House students, comprising Rahul Arora (VI-E), Saatvik Bhatnagar (VII-E), Kaushik Koul (VIII-B). |
On 21 & 22 November 2013, students of Classes XI-A & B of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, discussed and prepared presentations as well as charts on Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru’s ‘Glimpses of World History’. The students began their discussion with the ancient civilizations of the world, progressed to medieval history stressing on crusades and the age of Renaissance and ended their presentations in the shadows of II world War tracing the growth of Nazism in Germany. Nehru calls it “fleeting glimpses of our long past. The past which brings to us many gifts, indeed all that we have today of culture, civilization, science or knowledge is a gift of past to us”. Personal touch is evident in his letters when he mourns his father’s death, worries about Gandhiji and his wife and yet consoles his young daughter by saying, “In India we are making history, and you and I are fortunate to see this happening before our eyes.”
The highly informative session spanning two days ended with the Princpal Ms. A. Aggarwal’s views on Nehru. According to her he was a visionary, a dreamer, a pragmatic political leader with charismatic personality and was gifted with the rare quality of human touch which is evident in his written works also. She also congratulated the prize winners and commended the efforts of all students.

An Inter Class Sanskrit Recitation Competition was held on 11 November 2013 for classes VI to VIII. The motive of this competition was to inculcate love and respect for the mother of all languages, Sanskrit. The competition incited the students to bring out their hidden talents in Sanskrit. Overall it was an enthralling and a learning experience for the participants as well as the judges.

The English and Hindi Recitation Competition for class IV was held on 30 October 2013 at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The theme for English Recitation was ‘Nature’ and for Hindi recitation was ‘Patriotism’. Three students from each section participated in the event. They recited the poems with great enthusiasm and confidence. The efforts put in by the students were praised by the judges.

The students of class I of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, presented a Dance Competition titled ‘Just Dance’ on 29 October 2013. The children showcased their dancing talent and mesmerized the audience with the foot tapping numbers. Different dance styles like salsa, freestyle, jazz, rock-n-roll were performed by the students. In the end, a finale dance was presented which gave the message of celebrating a happy and prosperous Diwali in an eco friendly way. The judges gave away trophies to the best dances to encourage the students. Class I-E won the Best Dance trophy. Class I-C won the first runners up and Class I-A bagged the second runners up award. |
An Inter Class French Poetry Recitation Competition for classes VII and VIII was held at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, on 28 October 2013. The students recited the poems of well known French poets. The winners were :

The U.N. is a unique organization of independent countries that have come together to work for world peace and social progress. The organization formally came into existence on 24.10.1945, with 51 countries considered founding members. At present, there are 193 member countries of the U.N. Saluting this spirit of world peace, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated the UN week with full fervor.
Children of class VI made extremely beautiful greeting cards on the ‘Colourful Festivals of India’. Students of class VII made thought provoking posters on ‘Religious Harmony’. Class IX participated in a Quiz on ‘UN’; and class VIII showcased their intellectual creativity by making presentation on the Secretary Generals, Agencies and Organs of UN.
In totality, all the events were great success and children got an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and showcase their talents in all aspects. |
An Inter-Class English play competition was held by class V on 21 September 2013 with a vision and aim to create an awareness about and interest in books and authors. The plays chosen were primarily English classics like The Wizard of Oz, Jungle Book, The Blue Umbrella, Little Princess, Oliver Twist, The Pollyanna, The Ghost of Centerville and Little Women. The students mesmerized the audience with their mime, gesture and voice modulations. The best performance was bagged by the Jungle Book and the runners-up was the Ghost of Centerville. |
An English Recitation Competition was held at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, on 18 September 2013, for students of Class I. The theme was ‘Animal Antics’. Three students from each section participated in the competition. The participants were judged on the basis of clarity, pronunciation, voice modulation and expressions. The students recited the poems very confidently.

Inter Class Hindi Play Competition was held for students of class IV, on 10 September 2013. Through the medium of humorous plays social issues were raised. The parents and judges enjoyed and applauded the efforts of the students. The Prize for the Best Play was bagged by ‘Prayashchit’.
Best Actor award (Male) went to Hardik Garg, Yajat Dayal, Abhinav Warrier, Kapish, Arpit Chopra and (Female) bagged by Sanya Beherra, Arushi Mathur, Sujata Wadhera, Yashica Rawal and Priaynshi Goyal.

Students of classes VII & XI alongwith Ms. S. Malik attended the felicitation ceremony organized by the ‘Itihass’ group at FICCI Auditorium, on 30 August 2013 called ‘Anveshan 2013 - Ink your links’. The event began with a small informal interactive quiz tracing the history of city of Delhi. An enthralling story session by Mr. Ashish Ghosh of Anand Theatre group with hand puppets mesmerized the audience. The event ended with words of encouragement by Mr. Shigeru Aoyogi, Director, UNESCO, India, Maldives & Bhutan. Interesting anecdotes of student life were shared by Sh. Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Human Resource Development and Sh. Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of J&K.
The team of class VII had highlighted the significance of ‘Makar Sankranti’ in their project while class XI had made an extensively researched project on the neglected monument of India and disappearing tribes and were shortlisted as a part of top 10 schools. |

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated Science & Maths Week “Quest 2013” from 19 to 24 August 2013. A plethora of activities was conducted for each class giving students ample opportunities to learn and explore the hidden truths of Science. Some of the activities included were Myths related to science, one minute activity, puzzling fun, debate, setting up of apparatus etc. The selected finalists presented their projects in the Science & Maths Exhibition held on 24 August 2013. Quest 2013 was an endevour by the school to provide a conducive environment to all the budding scientists. |

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, organized Science & Maths Exhibition “Quest 2013” on 24 August 2013. The exhibition was also the culmination of the weeklong event which gave a platform to all budding scientists. The occasion was graced by Mr. Jyoti Kalash, IAS, Resident Commissioner of Nagaland. Around 200 students displayed their Science and Maths exhibits, ‘One-minute activities’, ‘Welcome to Numberland’, a mathematical skit was presented by the students and was well appreciated. A quiz for parents was also organized which saw the enthusiastic participation of the parents. Eminent judges from University of Delhi and schools were invited to evaluate the various exhibits. It was a rewarding and enriching experience for the students. |
An English Recitation Competition was held at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, on 19 August 2013, for students of class III. A total of 16 students participated in the competition. The recited poems by various poets. It was an enriching experience for the students.

Team ‘Forward’ comprising of Mohit Gulati (XIIE), Utkarsh Garg (XIIE), Mehak Bhatia (XIA) and Khushali Khosla (XIA) bagged the first position. |

An Inter Class Hindi Play Competition was held for students of classes VII & IX, on 20 July 2013 at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The students present the well known classic plays like ‘Chandalika’ and ‘Kabuliwala’ by Rabindranath Tagore, ‘Abhigyan Shakuntalam’ by Kalidasa, while there were some contemporary plays as well like ‘Kal, Aaj aur Kal’ and ‘Poorab-Paschim’.

Inter class Folk Dance Competition by students of Class V of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, was held on 15 May 2013. Chhao dance on invocation to Goddess Durga was a prelude to the colour and dance extravaganza. The budding dancers kept the audience spellbound with their moves and expression as they brought alive the rich rustic culture of Indian states. The winner was the Bamboo Dance performed by Class V-H and the Runners Up was Dandiya of Class V-D. The other dances were also highly appreciated like the Garhwali, Kaalbelia, Assamese, Bihu and Bhangra. |
English is the campus language of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, and to provide accurate and consistent assessment of language skills, we introduced Cambridge ESOL Exams in the last academic year to classes I to V. These exams are conducted by the University of Cambridge, U.K.
The students were assessed on the basis of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. We had a cent percent result and nine of them got full marks in all the above mentioned categories.
It was an excellent exposure for the children wherein they enhanced their language skills along-with adding new dimensions to their knowledge. |
