Inter School Photography Competition - (19 December 2020)

Students of Class VIII of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School participated in ‘Fotografia 2020’, a virtual inter-school photography competition organised by Bosco Public School. They participated in the Junior Category, the theme for which was, ‘Life and Lifestyle during Covid-19’. The competition provided our budding photographers a platform to showcase their skills and talent in photography, an art that can capture one’s heart and soul.
Ayushi Goel, Prisha Sehgal and Simrat Kaur of Class VIII made it to the Final Round of Fotografia 2020. The selected participants and teacher coordinator, Ms. Anjali Handa, participated in the Closing Ceremony via video conferencing on 19 Dec 2020. The students interacted with students and teachers of other schools, expressing the creative idea behind their photograph.
Simrat Kaur bagged the 2nd position in the final round.

Global Youth Parliament : Day 2 - (29 November 2020)
Global Youth Parliament was a two-day online conference held from 28th and 29th November 2020. The aim of our E-conference was to provide a platform for brilliant minds to express their opinions, to establish a professional and conventional working of Model United Nations with deliberations on fundamental issues and those of global and national importance.
Our vision closely focused on providing an academic experience such that it brings about tangible change, one that the world aspires to.
By introducing 4 committees, all of which aim to bring a result that matches the essence and spirit of peacekeeping, we intend to mould young minds to understand how essential it is to make the right decisions because we are the ones whose choices in future will impact the days to come.
The delegates in all the 4 committees indulged in intellectually simulated debates and discussions and bought about solutions or plan of actions to be implemented. The two days of deliberations gave them an insight to the global issues and triggered the analytical capacity of the young minds.
The session ended on a very high noted with the announcement of the winners by the executive board members followed by the Secretary General declaring the conference officially closed.
It was a wonderful experience for all the participants and the organisers alike.
Global Youth Parliament : Day 1 - (28 November 2020)
Global Youth Parliament is a fully online MUN program, designed to provide Model UN opportunities to anyone with an Internet connection. Our community of globally connected and engaged youth are working together to develop a unique online debating platform, open to any high school student with an internet connection and a desire to collaborate and discuss our world’s most pressing issues.
Students participated in a range of interactive and activity based sessions focusing on the development of the aforementioned skills including :
1. *United Nations General Assembly*
Agenda: Situation in Yemen with emphasis on foreign influence in the region
2. *United Nations Human Rights Council*
Agenda: Human rights violation in Libya with special emphasis on Responsibility to Protect
3. *United Nations Security Council*
Agenda: Analysing the security concerns around the world with special emphasis on providing guidelines for peace and security.
4. *World Stakeholders Meet*
Agenda: Discussion for economic recovery to strengthen economic and social status in the nations
The interschool MUN programme for students is focused on essential soft skill development while training students for participation in Model UN conferences. A range of skills such as public speaking, debating, opinion development, group discussions etc. were the focus of the sessions.
While the executive board and the delegates from all over India, united on this platform to discuss various global issues representing countries like India, Australia, Belgium, China, United States of America, Somalia, Togo etc.
The first day of the conference has been a complete success with the help of amazingly efficient Secretariat, Organising Committee, Executive Board as well as the multitalented delegates who have represented their portfolios with grace.
Video Conference Session with Barnes School and Junior College, Nashik - (28 November 2020)
Our school has always been active in enhancing interaction among students, both at international as well as domestic level. Another step in this authentic practice was taken when a video conference was organised for students of Class IX through Zoom Meet. The session was held on 28 November 2020 which was organised by Ms. Anjali Handa and Ms. Disha Vij with Ms. Rekha Kasar along with her students from Barnes School and Junior College, Nashik, India. Being the beginning of a new project ‘My State, My Story', a team of students from both the schools indulged in self introduction and healthy discussions on how their schools are functioning during the pandemic. The students participated enthusiastically in this interactive event and they look forward to have more such sessions which will strengthen the bond between the two schools.
Geek-a-hertz Competition - (25 November 2020)
The students of our school participated in Geek-a-hertz 2020 organized by St. Marks Sr. Sec. Public School on 25 November 2020. The students of our school showed excellent performance during the whole competition. Anchita Bhutani of Class XI bagged the 1st position in event - Minicomp Wizards and Sunidhi Pareek of Class XII bagged the 3rd position in event- Surprise!.
Sparkle Event 2019-2020 - (November 2020)
It’s true that every child is gifted in a unique way. There are a lot of kids out there who have great potential and just need a push to ignite their spark.
Keeping this in mind SMGS organized a Virtual Inter School Event named SPARKLE to provide a wonderful platform to such kids to showcase their hidden talent. A ‘Story Narration’ competition for LKG and ‘Character Dramatisation’ competition for UKG was organised. It was simply a feast for the budding literary champs from different schools across Delhi.

The Event started with the inauguration ceremony presenting glimpses of ‘Sparkle 2019-2020’. All the participants were wished the best of luck for their performances.
The cherubims of LKG showcased their talent and creativity through Story Narration wherein they narrated stories which reinforced moral values using intriguing props. Since time immemorial, story telling has been an integral part of one’s childhood. It’s the stories that give wings to our imagination and take us to places beyond the boundaries of our physical world and into the land of fairies, dragons and wishing trees. The little story tellers won everyone’s heart and were applauded.
The tiny tots of UKG exquisitely dressed up like their favourite characters for ‘Character Dramatisation’ competition. The young enthusiasts armed with their props came forth with wonderful characters. Their confidence, enactment and costumes were appreciated by everyone. The event ended on an admiringly graceful note and a momentous day came to a blissful end. It was throughly enjoyed by everyone.
Talking Titans CMS - (25 and 26 October 2020)
The City Montessori School, Rajendra Nagar Campus (II), Lucknow organised its first ever Virtual International Speech Competition, ‘The Talking Titans’ held on 25th and 26th October 2020. The event was an endeavour towards bringing students from different parts of the world together to demonstrate their creative and public speaking skills. This collaboration helped the participants learn from each other’s knowledge and skill and equipped them for their success in the future.
Our students Gargi Gupta from Class 10 and Devanshi Yadav from Class 9 participated in the Junior Category whereas Khanak Jorwal and Garima Sanger from Class 12 participated in the Senior Category.
Gargi Gupta added another feather to our cap by securing the First Position in the Junior Category whereas Garima Sanger bagged the First Consolation Prize in the Senior Category.
It was undoubtedly a highly enriching and enjoyable experience for all involved.
Hindi Rasdhara - (October 2020)
“Hindi Rasdhara”, an Inter School Virtual Competition was organised by St. Mark’s Sr. Sec.School, Janakpuri, wherein the students from Classes 1 to 3 recited poetry, Class 4 students narrated mythological stories while Class 5 had a debate competition. We appreciate the performance of all the participants.

A Virtual Inter School Literary Extravaganza : Wonderful World of Literature - (12 September 2020)
Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it. It glorifies the undeniably basic competencies that life calls for and gives away; and in this respect, it irrigates richly the barren and mundane lands that our lives have already become.
SMGS organised a virtual inter-school literary extravaganza ‘Wonderful World of Literature’ for the young students of Classes I to V with an aim to provide a platform to put on a show of their incredibly unique and innate talents. The event facilitated these children to dive into the vast world of literature and provided them an opportunity to embrace newer and higher feats. Students from over 10 different schools across Delhi joined in the event. The event started with the inauguration ceremony presenting glimpses of the literary event WWL 2018 and WWL 2019. Our chairperson, Ms. Anjali Aggarwal Ma’am, blessed all the participants and wished them luck for their performances. The cherubims of Class 1 participated in the‘Recitation Competition’ wherein they delivered some soul searching poems written by ace poets. Class 2 students exquisitely transformed into their favourite characters from different novels for ‘Character Dramatization’ competition. Class 3 students showcased their talent and creativity through ‘Story Narration’ using some intriguing props. Class 4 students performed impressively in the ‘RJ Hunt’ whereas the participants of Class 5 exhibited their oratory skills through a ‘Debate Competition’ and headed the audience on to think about matters of great importance in today's society. The event ended on an admiringly graceful note and a momentous day came to its blissful end, saturating the audience’s literary bug.
Exuberance 2020 - (16 July 2020)
Exuberance 2020 - Ira Gulati of Class II stood second in the event - Mom, Read Out To Me!!!
Heartiest congratulations to all the contestants who participated in the 2020 edition of the Exuberance hosted by Lancer’s Convent, Prashant Vihar in the month of July.
The students of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec School, with their dedication and presentation, have raised the bar of performance by outshining in myriad of events held.
Janvi Chhabra and Aastha Poswal of Class X bagged the second position in the event ‘Creating A Newsroom’. Ira Gulati of Class II added another feather to the cap by standing second in the event ‘Mom, Read Out To Me!!!’ Prishita Dua of Class III brought laurels by holding the first position in the event ‘My Lockdown Masterpiece’.
The participation in Exuberance motivated the children and boosted their morale. It infused in them an infectious enthusiasm and made them come out from the cocoon of fear and boredom. It was a commendable performance on a journey of learning and expression.
Libre E-MUN - (27 and 28 June 2020)
Students of Class XI and XII - Mehak Sharma, Suhana Siddiqui and Anika Maniam of St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec. School got the opportunity to participate in Libre E-MUN presented by DebCon on 27 and 28 June 2020. The two day conference solely aimed at familiarizing students with the working of the United Nations. The students got the opportunity to debate with motivated and experienced delegates from various schools across India. The students laid back their shy attitudes and took up a competitive perspective while debating about globally daunting issues.
The conference ended on a high note with MEHAK SHARMA of Class XII winning BEST DELEGATE award in United Nations Commission on Status of Women and SUHANA SIDDIQUI of Class XI winning HONOURABLE MENTION in Social Media Influencers Dialogue.
Global Youth Parliament 2020 - (23 and 24 May 2020)
Model United Nations empowers students with the knowledge and skills to solve global issues, to become leaders in their schools and communities, and to bring out the best in themselves and in other students.
The current COVID-19 pandemic is certainly a global issue requiring strong leadership. Model UN is a community of leaders. We have a mission to step up and continue educating each other about global issues. We need to prepare future world leaders so we can be ready to tackle future pandemics and global challenges. There’s no better time to do this than now. Thus, acknowledging the need of the hour, the MUN Secretariat of our school comprising of Mehak Sharma, Diya Anand and Pritika Thukral of Class XII organised a two day online MUN (Global Youth Parliament) on 23 and 24 May 2020. 63 delegates from different schools across India participated in the conference making it one of the largest E-Debating platform. Students utilized the opportunity offered by this platform and transformed into delegates and caricaturist, defending the national policies of countries through their research and by portraying the current situation of corona pandemic through the political cartoons.
This platform, apart from giving students an opportunity to debate with equally enthusiastic delegates from various schools was also organized with a noble intent. The proceeds from the event were donated to PM CARES as a humble contribution towards the nation’s fight against COVID-19.
The United Nations and governments have certainly had to address pandemics and other global issues in the past, and will face them again in the future. We need to prepare future world leaders who are ready to tackle future global challenges. Model UN is how we can prepare today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders. We aspire to continue to bring out the best in ourselves, in our community, and in our world.
20th On The Spot Painting Competition - (2020)
Our students make us proud yet again by participating in the 20th On The Spot Painting Competition held at St. Marks Sr. Sec. School, Janakpuri where students were given the opportunity to express themselves through creativity. Our students: Ashita Dev of Class IV, Aashi Jain - Class VI, Garima Dabas - Class IX and Pritika Thukral - Class XI bagged positions in painting competition while Samaira of Class IX and Gurpreet Kaur also from Class IX bagged prizes in collage making.

INTACH - Painting and Essay Writing Competition - (20 November 2019)
India is one of the oldest civilizations of the world with a kaleidoscopic variety and rich cultural heritage. INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) is a non-profit organisation that aims to protect and preserve India's living, built and natural heritage by undertaking necessary actions and measures. The Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS) division of INTACH organised an all India essay writing and painting competition for students of Classes 7-9.
The theme of the competition was - GANDHI AT 150 Icon of Change in order to celebrate 150 years of his legacy. Our young artists participated in the competition enthusiastically. The students also got an opportunity to take a tour of the organisation. The event, without any doubt, helped in promoting the spirit of appreciation, exploration and cultural education.
Annual Commerce Fest : VANIJYA 2019 - (16 October 2019)
New Era Public School, Mayapuri, organised the Annual Commerce Fest - VANIJYA 2019, in which students of Class XII participated with much enthusiasm. Sneh Matta and Jahanvi Sharma participated in the event ‘Bulls and Bears’, which involved taking part in virtual stock trading to earn maximum profits. They successfully bagged 3rd position in the event. Ramya and Kanika confidently presented their Corporate Social Responsibility strategy for a business organisation in the event ‘Market Kshetra - a CSR initiative’. Bharti and Akshita used their art skills to design a newspapersupplement with current commerce related news. The participants gained substantial knowledge about their subject by interacting with students from other schools.
Inter School Hindi Diwas - (14 September 2019)
Dr. Rajendra Prasad rightly said, ”A country that does not take pride in its language and literature can never progress.”
The Constituent Assembly of India adopted Hindi in Devanagari script as the official language of the Republic of India on 14 September 1949 and it is celebrated as Hindi Diwas. Celebrating the day, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Pubic School, Janakpuri organised ‘Hindi Rasdhaara’. Our students participated in various competitions like poetry recitation, story narration, weaving a story etc. The students participated enthusiastically and exhibited their talent and confidence. They were judged on parameters like confidence, voice modulation and expression. The judges appreciated and applauded the performance of the participants and their love and respect for our National language.

Reflections 2019 - (31 August to 3 September 2019)
A team of six students from Saint Mark’s Girls Senior Secondary School i.e - Sanya Ahuja and Ashmeet Kaur from Class XII, Ashmita Sawhney of Xlass XI, Janvi Chhabra and Aastha Poswal from Class IX and Devanshi Yadav of Class VIII along with the team leader Ms. Monika Sehgal, participated in the International Event Reflections'2019 organized by City Montessori School, Lucknow.
The event aimed at empowering today’s youth to face the challenges, derive methodologies and emerge as game changers and trend setters. The platform brings them together to improve the present and work for a peaceful, and blissful global society.
Our team participated in various events like Brochure making, Poster making, Debates, Extempore and Group Discussion, Movie making, Socrates Speaketh - a historical character talking about oneself and the achievements during his/her life, Pursuit - a community service initiative by the schools, Model making on heritage sites and the cultural extravaganza. Our students presented themselves very confidently and bagged a few prizes and accolades. Sanya Ahuja bagged the first prize for Socrates Speaketh - she awed the audience with her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher, Aastha Poswal, Devanshi Yadav and Ms Monika won the third prize for their presentation about community service initiative taken up by our school and the team was titled as 'The most eloquent team'.
Our students not only bagged prizes but left an indelible mark with their behavior and presentation. We feel accomplished as an institution if our students achieve the basic aim of education.
28th Vasant Valley Drama Festival - (7 August 2019)
SMGS participated in 28th Vasant Valley Drama Festival held at Airforce Auditorium, Subroto Park, Delhi. The students of Grade V staged the play 'Get to Dance' based on the theme 'living in a loop' on 7 August 2019, which was the first day of three-day-event.
No doubt, the same things keep repeating in our life over and over again. We all are dependent beings living in a loop and so incomplete without one another. The only way out to break the loop is to recognize and be supportive to others in adverse conditions. The play 'Get to Dance' was based on this storyline and received accolades from the onlookers. The stage at the airforce auditorium became a platform to make the students understand this thought provoking theme with ease. A few students of Class VI were seated in the auditorium as audience to cheer the plays.
The participants were eventually questioned on the theme and interviewed by the students of Vasant Valley regarding the show. The event also brought the students of various schools to build up camaraderie by interacting with one another about the event. Two students of Class V went to collect the certificates on 9 August 2019 for their wonderful and enriching performance. The budding actors were applauded for their remarkable creation of the play.

Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram organised Mosaic 2019 – a psycho-socio fest to provide the students with a platform where they could mix the thrill of competition with a great learning experience. The event helped in broadening the horizons of students when it comes to Psychology and Sociology, not only as a subject in the curriculum but also a discipline. This event assessed the analytical abilities of the students along with their creative talents and expression. It was an amalgamation of 9 events such as Showcase (ad analysis), Mind Games (quiz), Poise (dance), Canvas (art competition) etc. Vanshika Kaushik (XII-A) bagged the second prize for Showcase, the ad analysis event which required a keen attention to detail in order to identify various psychological themes in the given advertisement. She was felicitated by their principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal who graced the event and highlighted the relevance of Psychology in today’s world where professional help is the need of the hour.
HMSMUN organised by Happy Model School - (17 and 18 May 2019)

Students of SMGS as responsible global citizens contributed to the discussion on world issues by participating in HMSMUN organised by Happy Model School on 17 and 18 May 2019. Students got privy to the fact that world issues can only be resolved with responsibility, commitment and togetherness. Thus, they deliberated and drafted resolutions on topics ranging from preventive measures to control nuclear international terrorism to rights of indigenous people by being part of various committees like UNGA, UNHRC, UNSC etc. It was an enriching experience for all the delegates.

Annual Lexicon Competition - (26 November 2018)
The SMS family held its Annual Lexicon Competition on the 26th of November 2018 wherein students from Classes VI to XI put forth their creative and imaginative talents on display. The competition had a plethora of activities where the students showcased their talents.
'Let's Get Quizzical' - a quiz on books and authors for Classes VI and VII was a perfect opportunity for students to unleash their inner bookworms.
On the other hand, 'Celebrating The Bard' which was a quiz on Shakespeare helped the students flaunt their knowledge about the Bard of Avon. Moving ahead, the students also got an opportunity to explore and put their oratory skills to test by participating in events like 'Poetic Magic' - English Poetry Recitation organised for Classes VI to IX and XI. Further the students of Class VIII and XI participated in Poetry Dramatization and Oratory Bonanza respectively, putting up a spectacular show.
Vanshika Batra of Class VI-D, Purva Gaur of Class VII-F, Jahnavi Khattar of Class VIII-D and Jahnavi Chhabra of Class VIII-E bagged the Special prize, III and II position in Poetic Magic respectively. Kanishka Jha and Prachi Jain of Class VIII-C got a Special prize in Lyrics on Stage. Anchita Bhutani of IX-C and Divyanshi Joshi of IX-B secured the I position whereas Shruti Paanchal of IX-D and Mehak Mathur of IX-A got the II prize in Celebrating the Bard. Sanskriti Kotnala of XI-B bagged a Special prize in Poetic Magic. In Oratory Bonanza, Arikta Baul of XI-C secured the III position whereas Yashika Kaushik of Class XI-C and Vidhi Nagpal of Class XI-A bagged the Special prize.
Summing it up, it was a brilliant exposure for the students and a break from the monotonous school routine for good.
St. Mark’s Girls School’s visit to Hillwoods Academy MUN Conference - (24 to 25 November 2018)
Not everyone is fortunate enough to be a part of a knowledge giving event like MUN. St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec School students were fortunate to get to attend the Model United Nations conference at Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar, on 24th and 25th November 2018. A group of 14 girls represented our school at the conference.
Day 1 began, as the students registered themselves to their respective committees at the registration desk. Then the opening ceremony was conducted in the school’s amphi theatre.
All students then joined their committees which were United Nations General Assembly, United Nations Human Rights Council, United Nations Development Program and All India Political Parties Meet.
On the Day 2, the deliberations continued involving two distinct motion. The session of day one acted as pillar of inspiration and improvement for the next day. Resultantly, the students were found more enthusiastic and determinant in the pursuit of participation.
As the event was nearing its closure different committees, were asked to submit a brief summary of the discussions to the executive board. Finally, we proceeded to the amphitheatre for the closing ceremony. The latter marked felicitation of prize winners and participants.
The event was all in all a learning experience whereby students learnt the art of presenting oneself at an official platform with sheer dedication and efforts.
The productive and constructive debates paved way for genuine solutions to the undermining problems of the world.
MCSMUN organised by Mt. Carmel School - (2 and 3 November 2018)
Students of SMGS participated in MCSMUN organised by Mt. Carmel School on 2 and 3 November, where students learned about the importance of coming together to achieve a common goal in the true spirit of the United Nations. The Mt. Carmel MUN team members modeled the importance of diplomacy creating an atmosphere not of individual competition, but of group understanding and overall improvement. Students were a part of various committees like UNGA, UNHRC, UN Women and UNODC. The session was reasoned out after 2 days of debate by drafting resolutions to agendas of various committees. This was followed by the closing ceremony and the prize distribution ceremony. Ishita Bhambri and Bhumika Attri of Class XI-C won special mention in UNODC committee.
Rising Spirit hosted by Shah International School - (23 October 2018)
Upholding the spirit of camaraderie and robust zeal, the students of SMGS took part in the magnanimous fusion of literary and cultural competitions 'Rising Spirit' hosted by Shah International School on 23 October 2018. The students exhibited their skills in various events namely charismatic poetry, mythology comes alive, stagecraft, Mono Abhinay, Modern folk art, digital story and the journey of an invention. It turned out to be a fruitful and overwhelming participation giving the students an opportunity of discovering glorious ideas and gaining exposure. Dhanya Chawla of I-D stood first and Hitakshi Talwar of II-C stood third in the poetry recitation. Hitanshi of III-E, Snehal Soni of IV-B, Arushi Bhandari of IV-D and Vanshita of V-B bagged the first position in 'Mythology Come Alive'. Also, Aastha Paswal of VIII-B bagged the third position in 'Mono Abhinay'. In 'the Journey of an Invention', Chahat Nihlani, Mehak and Radhika Gupta of X-D brought laurels by bagging the second position. It was an enriching experience for all the participants.
Ecom Forum 2018 - (October 2018)
India's spectacular growth story is a saga of fluctuating global markets, sensitive world economics which eternally pulsates with colossal wealth of information to be explored. Taking this forward, the students of Class XI and XII from our school participated in the Ecom Forum 2018, organised by Amity International School, Saket. The students showcased their talent by becoming a part of many events like the Economics Symposium, Fintoons and Biz Quiz. It was a great opportunity to delve deep into issues that impact national and global economics. In the end , the esteemed judges, Dr. S. K. Laroiya, Prof. O. M. Aggarwal and Ms. Meenkashi Manna, announced the winners and awarded them with various trophies. It was a proud moment when Pranjal Sehrawat of Class XII-A bagged a trophy for securing second position as an interjector in the Economics Symposium. The event proved to be a great success as a step towards moulding future nation builders.
Wonderful World of Literature - (14 September 2018)
'Literature is one of the most interesting and significant expressions of humanity.'
On 14 September 2018, our school organised a literary extravaganza for the young cherubims of Classes I to V which aimed at giving wings to their imagination and a deserving platform to their innate talents. Through this event which was aptly titled The Wonderful World of Literature, not just the participating students but the jubilant audience also got an opportunity to explore new horizons, attain new heights, travel through fantastic lands and journey to the realm of letters and characters. Under the umbrella of this event, multifarious competitions were organised which witnessed the participation of over 14 schools from all over Delhi. Students of Class I got the chance to render their voice and utterance to some soul searching poems written by great poets while students of Class II brought to life impressive characters from novels that have for long captured our imagination. They took part in the Character Dramatization Competition that left the audience yearning for more. The plays put forth by the pupils of Class IV brought enchanting smiles on everyone's faces for their very theme was 'happiness' and there can be no better teachers to guide us on the path of laughter than children. The stimulating Debate Competition organised for Class V roused the audience's intellect, encouraging them to think about matters of grave importance in today's society. With over 14 participating schools such as Vasant Valley School , Indraprastha International, Hansraj Model School, etc., it was a proud moment for our dextrous students when they lifted the Best School Trophy with 60 points due to their impeccable performances in varied events.Being the host school , the trophy was rolled onto the second best overall performer of the day - St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The event ended on a successful note, giving great exposure to all participating students, leaving them with lingering memories of time well spent in the company of those for whom books aren't just about ink on paper but about life itself and the experiences that form the very essence of life.

Our knowledge wizards from Classes IV - XII explored their inquisitive souls in various types of written quizzes on general awareness, literature, sports, entertainment, science and technology. The event was inaugrated with with a motivational speech by the principal encouraging the girl participants. Around 900 students participated in the event from all over Delhi. All the quizzes comprised of two rounds, preliminary and the final onstage one. The competition served as an apt platform for the students to showcase their multidimensional intelligence. The event was organised and conducted by the school alumni and fascilitated by the teachers. Students performed enthusiastically in all the quizzes. It was a good learning experience for them.

Knowledge is an asset that can’t ever be compared with any worldly instrument. The students at St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School re-established this at the General Knowledge Quiz wizard held at Doon Public School, New Delhi. After qualifying the preliminary round with the highest scores, Bharti Mishra of Class XI-A and Saloni Chaudhary of Class X-E moved to the final round to secure the Third Position in the competition. They answered the questions with agility and use of intellect. The students were awarded a trophy and certificates of appreciation by the hosting school.

Coadunate MUN - (4 and 5 August 2018)
Great opportunities seldom come without us seeking them but such rarity did become a reality when students of St. Marks Girls Sr. Sec. School participated in Coadunate MUN held at Abhinav Global School, Dwarka on 4 and 5 August 2018. It was two days of intense debate where an awareness was created for the students on the functioning and proceedings of United Nations. Students were a part of various committees namely, UNGA, UNHRC, UNSC, CSW and Lok Sabha where they discussed topics ranging from protection of Human Rights to Educational Reforms. Sudiksha Kapoor was honoured with Verbal Mention while the conjoined efforts of all the students helped them bag the Best Delegation. This experience led to a great exposure for the students at a very recognized level.

New Era Public School, Mayapuri organised the “Resonance Youth Parliament AIPPM 2018” with the aim of enhancing the oratory skills, thought processes and nuanced understanding of our social and political system. The student delegates critically analysed the Foreign Policy under the NDA Government with special emphasis on recent development in the Indian subcontinent. They were provided with an excellent platform to share and learn from a wide range of agendas by reviewing topics such as ‘String of Pearls’ with regard to the Indo-China relations as well as suggested reforms that can be made in the current foreign policy for a better future. They were able to express themselves and diversify their thinking in insightful ways. Our school was presented with the Best School Delegation Award by the honourable Director and Chairman, Ms. Usha Chopra who particularly praised the wholehearted participation of the students and their zest for learning.
K. R. Mangalam Activities - (May 2018)
Creativity is all about connecting things that takes out the best in you. One such initiative was taken by K. R. Mangalam School, Vikaspuri to connect various schools with the help of various competitions. They aimed at connecting and collaborating the experiences of different schools at one place to synthesize new talents. The students of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Src. School fervently were a part of these events. Our students from Classes I to IV participated in various competitions such as Fairy Topia, Radio Gaga, Gadget Making and Talk Show. Students bagged the first prize in Talk Show and second prize in Fairy Topia. The students of classes VII to XII also engaged themselves in varied activities. The list of activities were Number Ninjas, Chai pe Charcha, Virtuous Evil, Gout de France.
The last day ended with another list of events like Hindi Kavita Pratiyogita, Indo-Swiss couture, Bizoon (artwork based competitive event) and Moksha (quintessence of sweetness and beauty). Our budding actors from Class IX and X won a prestigious prize for their enactment and skill showcased in the activity of depicting the virtuous evil in Indian Mythology. Students were enthusiastic about their performances and came across different learning experiences as they got the opportunity to witness the performances of other schools as well. Yet another feather added in the cap and yet another fun-filled and learning experience for the students which ended with the students expecting to participate again.

Enthusiastic and vibrant students of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School participated in a plethora of inter school competitions hosted by Vikas Bharti Public School, Rohini on 28 April 2018. Our students got an opportunity to exhibit their skills and made us proud yet again by winning prizes in various events.
Class I students outshined others and secured first position in “Fiesta Vista“, Class VIII and IX students secured second position in “Artistic Flair“and “Provactment.” Our pre-primary students also showcased their artistic vision and Class II and III students portrayed their acting skills too. Students were able to showcase their fervour and talent on a great platform which also assisted them to bring above their confidence. It was a great learning experience for the students.
Spell Vocab Challenger Contest - (April 2018)
Learning is a ceaseless process that has the ability to bestow anyone with unparalleled percipience and wit.
Keeping this in mind, the Smart Vocab Challenger initiated an innovative series of tests and challenges, exhorting students to discover the English language in depth.
Stage one included a written test. It was followed by a hands on quiz at the Zonal Level in which the top scorers from each participating school of the Zone competed. Mahika Gupta from Class VIII-B and Vanshika Kaushik from Class X-C represented our school at the Zonal Level held at Venkateshwar International School from the junior and senior category respectively. Both the students stood first at the Zonal Level, bringing laurels to our school. It was indeed an elating moment and a proud day when Mahika Gupta won the Final Round of the Spell Vocab Challenger Contest in the Junior Category after competing with the zonal winners.

Seeking an insight into the same thought, Agrima Mehta (XII-A), Mohini Talwar (XII-A) and Bharavi Yadav (XI-A) participated in the Psy-Fiesta held at Cambridge School Srinivaspuri. A photostory competition and poster making event was held to help them explore and express qualitative aspects of human behaviour through stories and narratives. The students also gathered insights into the duality between our real self and ideal self and also the knack of storytelling through photography.
VVeaves : Inter School Festival at Vasant Valley School - (14 and 15 September 2017)

A team of ten students of Class IV represented our school in VVeaves an Inter School Festival held at Vasant Valley School on 14 and 15 September 2017. The event was a cross curricular learning experience for the students. The students of Class IV from different schools of Delhi and NCR explored the theme “The Power of Imagination” across different subject domainslike Western Music, Technology, Indian Dance and many more. It was a platform where our students interacted with the students from other schools and they showcased their talent with a lot of enthusiasm and team spirit. The performances were applauded and the students were awarded the certificates of participation.

'Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.' Pursuing this very essence of the REFLECTIONS 2017 organised by City Montesssorie School, Lucknow. A team of 6 students were given a chance to explore the global platform offered by this very institute. Students participated in various events such as International History Olympiad, League of Nations, Kaleidoscope, Expressive I's, Envision, Sculpting Ideas, Plato Pondering, Holy Revelations, Endeavour and Asta Grace. These events inculcated the feeling of oneness among students and helped them understand political events from humanistic point of view.

Inter School Language Enrichment Activity - (29 August 2016)
"Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity.”
The development of conversational skills is one of the main objectives of teaching English language. Effective communication helps the young learners to gain confidence and benefits them in their personal and professional growth. Keeping the significance of conversational skills in mind, St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School (Janakpuri) organised a non-competitive event 'Contemporary Conversations' on 29 August 2016.
Fourteen students from SMGS - each from Class VII and VIII, participated enthusiastically to enact on the given situation using dialogues. It was a collaborative effort as the students were divided into a team of 3 participants - one from each school. It was three minutes presentation on contemporary topics wherein the various groups got an opportunity to validate their ideas and present themselves in an effective way. The event contributed a great deal in developing basic interactive skills necessary for life.
Ad Mania ... between Creativity and Wit - (July 2016)
The goal of language is effective communication. Twenty eight students of our school participated in 'Ad Mania ... between Creativity and Wit' - an event that was organized at St. Mark' s Public Sr. Sec. School with the intent to promote communicative efficiency among young students. This event provided the students with an opportunity to think creatively as they penned down elevator speeches for the innovative products they were given to advertise. Their foot tapping jingles added rhyme and rhythm to the presentations that were entertaining as well as engrossing. This endeavour was definitely worthy of appreciation as it gave the students a platform to build on their confidence and further hone their communication skills in a non competetive format.
Tell a Tale Activity for Classwes VII and VIII - (April 2016)
An extensive inter-school ‘Tell a Tale’ Activity was conducted in St Mark’s Girls Senior Sec. School. It was an enthralling and successful event conducted by the School Staff. Students from various branches of the School participated enthusiastically.
The activity brought forward a creative stage for the students to showcase their myriad abilities and innovative imaginations.
Students were divided into ten groups as the event of the day commenced with an ice breaking session to encourage students to create expressive and meaningful titles for their groups.
With the follow-up of the day, students were allotted with eloquent words to give a title to their inventive stories. Students presented impressive and illuminative tales which enlightened their sheer abilities to look into a world of their own. They ornamented their tales with perfect expressions, gestures, dialogues and required confidence to perform energetically on stage. The efforts of the students were well rewarded with encouraging participation certificates and refreshments to munch on. Overall, it was truly a terrific learning experience for our budding young minds. It not only assisted students to find their hidden talents but also effortlessly helped the teachers to learn more about what a child’s mind could create and altogether mend a new cosmos. It can absolutely be said that the students lived to the truthful words of Einstein who said “Imagination is more important than knowledge. . . for knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world”.
13th Geofest and National Geography Olympiad 2015 - (October 2015)
"We have not inherited the earth from our fathers, we are borrowing it from our children." carrying this message City Montessori School, Rajajipuram Campus, Lucknow organized the 13th Geofest and National Geography Olympiad 2015. A team of 6 students from our school - Devanshi Dembla, Sahejpreet Kaur, Yashika Miglani, Aanchal Singh, Deeksha Madan and Kriti Chopra along with team leader Miss Jeetu Bhalla participated in the five day event. The event focused on the means of awakening the conscience to protect planet earth from further decay due to climatic changes and global warming. The event not only gave a dynamic exposure to the children but also instilled within them a never dying competitive spirit. The students took part in Quizzing, Create Your Taste, Model Display, Geotalk, Geotoons, Voice and Vision and Cultural Presentation. The students got the opportunity to meet Mr. Jagdish Gandhi, the founder of City Montessori School and the man behind the slogan JAI JAGAT. They were impressed by the vision of Mr. Gandhi that focus on One God, World Parliament, one Currency etc.
The students even brought laurels to the school. Sahejpreet Kaur and Devanshi Dembla bagged 1st position in Create Your Taste, Devanshi Dembla, Sahejpreet Kaur, Yashika Miglani, Aanchal Singh, Deeksha Madan and Kriti Chopra bagged 3rd position in Voice and Vision and Aanchal Singh and Kriti Chopra received the Commendation Certificates in Create Your Taste. It was a great learning experience for the students. The 13th Geofest added another golden feather to the school's cap.

Reflection 2015 : Visit to CMS, Lucknow - (August 2015)
"Every accomplishment starts with the decision too try", carrying the same spirit, 6 students from our school - Aarushi Mishra (XII-B), Damini Yadav (XI-C), Pavitra NAidu (XI-B), Kajal, Sharvi, Aarti along with Miss Gunjan Chawla participated in a 4 day event - 'Reflections International' organised by City Montessori School, Mahanagar Campus- III, Lucknow. The event not only gave a dynamic exposure to the children but also instilled within them a never dying competitive spirit.
The students took part in Endeavour, Socrates Speaketh, Brochure Making, Sculpture Presentation, King Arthur's Round Table (Group Discussion) and Kaleidoscope. All competitions were in sync with the theme of the programme - 'Those who don not learn from the mistakes of History are doomed to repeat it" and thus, students celebrated the festival of history and civics and added to their knowledge of the subjects.
The students even brought laurels to the school. Damini Yadav bagged the first position in Debate, Aarushi Mishra stood third in Socrates Speaketh, Kajal Gupta, Aarti Bansal and the Team leader Ms. Gunjan Chawla stood first in the Endeavour, a competition that exhibited the school's toil and dedication towards creating a better society through community service. Our school also won the overall championship trophy for the event, which was a moment of great pride. Reflections International added another golden feather to the school's cap.
Just a Minute Competition by INTACH - (May 2015)
People's relationship to their heritage is the same as the relationship of a child to its mother. Keeping in with this spirit, INTACH had organised "Just a Minute" competition to promote awareness about our heritage and the need to conserve it. Deeksha Madan and Damini Yadav of Class XI of St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec. School participated in the event and won a Special Prize. Their views about conservation of Heritage and ways to create awareness about it were appreciated by the audience.

10th Eureka International Educational and Cultural Festival - (November 2014)
Education is a continuous and creative process that brings out the vast potential inherent in each child. To further enhance and exhibit the talent of our students, a team of 10 students attended the 10th Eureka International Educational and Cultural Festival organised by City Montessori School, Lucknow. Our fervent students of classes V and VIII participated in a plethora of activities namely Dramatics, Cultural dances, Media Reportage, Quiz, Pop Art and Multi Media. They showcased their art in the best possible way. Our meritorious students bagged the first position in Dramatics and second position in Cultural dance. Our team of primary students cracked the preliminary round of media reportage. Such international events give exposure to the students thus developing their confidence, understanding and patience. Geofest 2014 - (8 to 11 November 2014)
Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect. Indeed even our smallest of unthought actions can have catastrophic effects on the environment and the smallest of steps taken in the right direction have the power to turn the world upside down.
Keeping the same in mind, Geofest 2014 was organized by CMS School, Lucknow from 8 November to 11 November 2014. A delegation of six students accompanied by their teacher coordinator Ms. Gunjan Chawla attended the event. Students indulged in activities ranging from collage and cartoon making to web designing and debate. They also presented conspicuous and breathtaking models on 'Promoting use of renewable energy' and 'My modern Eco-friendly dream house'. The event was successful in its endeavour to sensitize the students about the need to save our ailing Earth.
Jharna Singhal and Naina Gandhi won the consolation prize in Geo-toons while the work and effort of the others was praised and appreciated by all. The students returned back home elated with beautiful memories and the indomitable will to do their bit to save the Earth.
Confluence 2014 - (6 to 10 May 2014)
The students of our school participated in the Confluence 2014 which was hosted by K. R. Mangalam World School from 6th May to 10th May 2014. There were various events that took place over these few days ranging from newspaper designing to website designing, etc, etc. Our students participated with full zest and their industriousness paid off when they were rewarded for their excellence and applauded in front of the gathering. Although the students' diligence had a major role to play in bringing laurels to the school, the teachers deserve as much credit as it was under their tutelage that our students were able to win the competitions and create a space for themselves in the crowd.

Students of St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec. School, Meera Bagh brought laurels once again when they qualified Regional level CBSE Science Exhibition. 110 Schools from all across Delhi participated in the event. Four students took part in Exhibition which was held at Rukmini Devi Public school, Pitampura from 7th to 9th May 2014.
Simran Dhir and Tanya Gaba of Class XII displayed their model on 'Universal Switch' which qualified regional level. Mahima Negi and Namrata Pandey displayed their model on theme 'Agriculture'. Students received certificates for participation.

Manav Sthali Maths Talent Exam - (25 February 2014)

Dig down deep into anything and you’ll find maths. It is literally everywhere. Young minds love maths and die to dig deep into its enthralling mysteries and quench their thirst. Keeping the same in mind, Manav Sthali organized its annual Maths Talent Exam on 25 February 2014. Students from reputed schools allover Delhi took part in this prestigious event. Students of classes VI to XII of our school participated in this event enthusiastically and displayed their extraordinary mathematical skills.

Art isn't supposed to look nice, it is supposed to make you feel something; and the talented artists of our school surely know how to do so. They are capable of expressing a thousand emotions with just one picture and transforming a white, dull canvas into a piece of art that one would cherish forever.
Our budding painters recently exhibited their unique talent in an Inter School On-The-Spot Painting Competition held at Ramjas School in R. K. Puram, Delhi. 71 students took part in this prestigious annual event. They painted enthusiastically and beautifully on the topics given to them. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and their paintings seemed to be poetry in motion and were a feast for the eyes.
Color splash - Painting competition at G. D. Goenka, Paschim Vihar, Delhi - (13 December 2013)
Painting is one of the best ways to depict one’s emotions and feelings.
G. D. Goenka Public School, Paschim Vihar, Delhi in association with the Times of India conducted a Painting Competition - Colour Splash. Different schools of Delhi participated in the event. Twenty five students of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School, Meera Bagh participated in the event. Students in different categories - Junior, Middle and Senior were given varied topics ranging from ‘My Home’ to ‘Incredible India’.
Students tried to present their vision using paints and brushes. They also got to see and appreciate the art work of the students of other schools. Tina Goel of our school bagged the first prize in the senior category and brought great laurels to her school.

Inter School Painting Competition - (22 November 2013)
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”
Indeed, art is that magic wand that makes all other sufferings and distress vanish and leaves behind something positive and rejuvenating. It is the joy that washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life and makes things and people seem pure and beautiful.
The 14th Annual Inter School Art On-The-Spot Painting Competition was recently held at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Janakpuri on 22 November 2013 . Around 50 students of our school participated enthusiastically in this grand event and painted with their heart and soul. They filled the canvas with amazing drawings made with brilliant colours. Two budding artists of our school : Aanchal Singh and Bhavneet Kaur Bhalla of classes IX and X respectively won the consolation prizesand were appreciated for their commendable drawings.
Aurora by Queen's Valley School - (22 November 2013)
Students of SMGS participated in AURURA, an inter-school competition by Queen’s Valley School, Dwarka on 22 November 2013. Students from class Seedling to 5 participated in six different events.
Agrima S. Atri of class Seedling D participated in EUREKA 1 (FANCY DRESS COMPETITION) and won the first prize.
Devanshi Aggarwal and Aashi Jain of classes Sapling E and Sapling F respectively participated in PAGE TO STAGE (RHYME ENACTMENT COMPETITION).
Mannat Behl of class II A participated in EUREKA 2 (FANCY DRESS COMPETITION) and won the first prize.
Anshika Nagpal of class II F participated in TRASH TO TREASURE.

Sanskriti Utsav - (18 April 2013)
India’s rich heritage and culture remains unparalleled, and the country’s unity in diversity is still being looked at with awe by the entire world. The World Heritage day offers an opportunity to raise the public awareness about the diversity of our cultural heritage and the efforts that are required to protect and conserve it, as well as draw attention to its vulnerability. St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sc. School participated in the Sanskriti Day celebrated at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School on 18th April 2013. Competitions like"History comes Alive" for class V, "Talk on World Heritage Sites" for class VI, Quiz for class IX and Poster Making for class X were held and the students of our school participated in the competitions with great zeal. These competitions gave them a platform to exhibit their talent and creativity. The judges appreciated the efforts of the students and awarded them for their excellent performances.

Prakriti Utsav - (17 April 2013)
"Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the Earth are never alone or weary of life." Indeed Earth is a fascinating place, a paradise for all the nature lovers who dwell in the lap of Mother Nature and it is really fascinating to discover Earth's creatures and secret beauties.
In a heartfelt endeavour to spread awareness about the Earth’s vast flora and fauna, the girls of our school participated in a spectacular Prakriti Utsav organized by St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School to celebrate mother Earth and its essential presence in our lives. The event which took place on 17 April 2013, brought to light the vast species of plants and animals around us and proved to be very informative. Four main exciting events took place - ‘Know your Flora’, ‘Quiz Contest’, ‘Poster Making’ and ‘Unknown Plants and Animals’. All the events were entertaining as well as informative for the judges as well as the audience. Our students participated enthusiastically and brought laurels to the school. Aanchal Singh of class IX-B and Pranjal Kaushik of class 4 A from our school won the consolation prizes in the ‘Poster Making’ and ‘Know your Flora’contests respectively. The other contestants also did extremely well. It was indeed a unique learning experience for the students.
K. R. Mangalam Confluence - 2012
The students of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School participated in multifarious competitions such as Revamped Fable, Mathionaire, Endorsement Extravaganza, etc. held at K. R. Mangalam World School, Vikaspuri under the umbrella of their Cultural Festival ‘K. R. Mangalam Confluence - 2012‘. This endeavour gave the students a platform to ignite their conviction and boost up their morale to express their originality. Our students enthralled the audience and the judges alike, and brought great laurels to their school. They won several prizes in various events where they expressed themselves without any inhibitions and with great zeal.

Creative Writing Competition - 2012
The school organized the 'Creative Writing Competition' for the students of classes IX - XI , thus exploring their talent. The students of class IX participated in 'Mystery Writing Competition' wherein they wrote and narrated thrilling and exciting mysteries.
The students of class X induldged in writing 'Critical Analysis of Documentaries' whereas the students of class XI wrote reports on the newspaper clippings provided to them. The activities helped them to analyse, infer and evaluate.
Thus the overall experience was a fun filled one and was successful in developing a love for reading and literature in our budding students.

English Recitation Competition - (29 September 2011)
On 29th September 2011 St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School organized the Annual English Recitation Competition for classes IV and V. There were 12 participants participating from each class. The participants recited wonderful poetries ranging from Ruskin Bond to Roald Dahl. In some poetries if sarcasm was the subject, in others it was pure pun intended. All the participants recited with great elan and panache. The results were adjudged by the Senior Teachers of the English Department of the school-Ms. Jyoti Gulati and Ms. Isha Khera.
