With the aim of honing the dancing skills of the students a dance event was organised by St. Mark's Girls School for Class Sapling. The vivacious dances set the floor on fire with their energetic performances. The fun-filled extravaganza offered a fusion on classical, traditional and western dances. All the participants performed their dance forms enthusiastically. They were dressed beautifully according to their songs. The happiness of the children was amply evident with applause and appreciation. The event was a success and was concluded by the inspiring words spoken by the school Vice-Principal Ms. Sabina Shergill. |

'Dance is the hidden language of the soul- no word,just the art of movement.'
To celebrate this language, a dance event was organised at the school wherein the students of Class VIII presented an amalgamation of classical and folk dances. The lively performances by the vibrant and exuberant dancers left the audience mesmerized. It was enticing to watch these vivacious dancers perform Bharatnatyam to the beats of an Assamese song or a Ghoomar and Kathak to the tune of a Haryanvi song or a Lavani. The ingenious blends left the audience yearning for more as each movement was a word and it touched their hearts. |

A Dance Fiesta was organised at our school on 3 May 2019 wherein the students of Class VII put forth exquisite fusion dances that merged together the grace of Indian classical dances with the vigour of our folk dances. Our budding dancers left the audience captivated as they combined the pirouettes of Kathak and the exquisite mudras of Bharatnatyam with the folk beats of Kalbeliya and the lively steps of a Garba or aLavani. The zealous dancersput forth innovation amalgamations that left the audience mesmerised and yearning for more. Their enchanting performances were appreciated by our Vice Principal, Shergill Ma'am, who emphasised the importance of dance in life. This wonderful Dance Fiesta opened oureyes to the fact that walking maybe the job of the feet, but their hobby is dancing to the rhythm of one's heart. |

Music is one such form of art that can leave every soul cherished and can express the euphony in every heart. SMGS organised the Solo-Singing Competition for students of Classes VI and VII. Two singers from each section were selected to showcase their talents. Students greatly enjoyed the event as they sang along the tunes of famous English numbers. participants left the audience spell bound with their melodious voices. The audience also involved themselves and added a lot of thrill and fervour to the event. Students learnt the use of music as a means to let go their thoughts and passion. Overall, the musical bonanza was a hit and left all the children enchanted. |

Our school organized a cultural fiesta for Class III students. It was a proud moment for the students as well as the parents when they watched their little angels dancing to the tune of fusion music. The vivacious dancers set the floor on fire with their energetic performances. The fun filled extravaganza involved the retro forms of the famous artists like Abba, Boney M., etc.
Children dressed in colourful costumes swayed to the beats of retro music. Twirling toes, rhythmic foot work along with the beat of music kept the audience captivated.
The spectators bore witness to the enthusiasm and energy of the young saplings as they enthralled everyone with their performances.
Children fascinated the audience with their singing and well-choreographed dance sequences and provided thorough entertainment with their graceful and energetic moves. The kids loved the experience and it was incredible to see them supporting each other. |

Inter Class Solo Singing Activity for Class III was held on 12 July 2016. The participants put forth their enthralling performance. They sang a variety of songs. The occasion was graced by our Vice Principal, Ms. Sabina Shergill. The parents enjoyed seeing their little girls singing in melodious voices. A great support was given from the audience who comprised of the entire class III. All the young maestros made the event a great success and were very well appreciated by the Vice Principal. |

The fun filled extravaganza offered folk dance forms of Kashmir, Assam, West Bengal, Goa, Telangana and Karnataka. The dance event livened up the atmosphere and the participants swayed the audience with their graceful and energetic moves. It was an enriching experience for the children who displayed their dancing abilities. |

Our school hosted an Inter Class Dance Event on 21 August 2015 for Class I. The programme started with a Bihu Dance performance, followed by a dance from the colourful state of Rajasthan. The children danced to the tunes taken from different states of India. Ranging from the foot-tapping number to the scene music, the danceforms left everyone spellbound. The parents cheered the little ones and the event turned out to be a grand success. The programme culminated with an address by the school director Ms. Anjali Aggarwal. |
An Inter Class Solo Singing Competition for class III was held on 14 May 2015. The participants put forth enthralling performances. They sang a variety of songs and spread an aura of pleasant harmony which completely captivated the audience. The participation of the young maestros made the competition a great success. Our esteemed judges, Principal, Ms. Sheena Kalenga and Vice Principal, Ms. Sabina Shergill were mesmerised by their melodious voices and applauded all the participants. They also announced the winners of the event. |

It is said that 'When you dance your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It is to enjoy each step along the way'. And to prove this right the enthusiastic Sapling students of SMGS presented before the audience the different folk dances of India and enjoyed it to the fullest. The tiny tots presented a colourful variety of dances like Tribal dance by Sapling A, Gujrati by Sapling B, Himachali by Sapling C, Bengali by Sapling D, Goan by Sapling E and Kalbelia by Sapling F. The air was charged and the atmoshere became electric as the auditorium reverberated with the cheering and clapping of the audience. The event proved to be a great success and in the end our Principal Ms. Sheena Kalenga congratulated and blessed the students for their effortsand for putting up a great show. |

The tiny tots of Seedling class presented folk dance event on 28th of November 2014, which gave the audience a glimpse of various dance forms of our country. The folk dances performed at the event included Bengali, Tamil, Rajasthani, Haryanavi, Maharashtrian, kannad and Garhwali dance. The audience were spellbound to see the cherubims dressed up in the attires representing different cultures.The performances were a reflection of traditional india, left the audience yearning for more. Dancing is an expression of the ecstasy & gratitude for being in this profoundly beautiful world. Though dance is universal, its forms are plenty.
The global village where we live today is a dwelling abode to many cultures, each with a unique dance tradition.
At the click of a button, we can be carried to scintillating dances of 18th century. The very next moment one can be in the company of some enthralling world beats of Jazz. So, creatively these are special times of amalgamations, of fusions.
Paying an ode to Dance & to the multicultural times we live in, St. Mark’s Girls Senior Secondary School, Meera Bagh had a rendezvous with a visually captivating Fusion Dance Event on 30 September, 2014.
Young angels of Grade 2, as if descended from heavens, filled the heart of the audience with immense aesthetic pleasure. Clad in luscious ethnic costumes, they danced to the tunes of various dance forms of Gujarat, Goa, Orissa and Tamil Nadu in a spectacular fusion with the dances of Italy, Korea, Russia, and Africa. The amalgamation of these elegant dances mesmerized the audience. The vivacious dancers kept the viewers spellbound. For a moment, one was really transported to these exotic parts of the world. The exquisite weaving of the warp & weft of dance forms from across the oceans was indeed a feast for the eyes. |

The students pf Class IV participated in the ISA ACTIVITY -- Dances From Around The World Presentation. The students researched and found out material on the origin, history, attire, most popular dance form etc. of Dances like - Russian, Korean, African, Italian and Bharatnatyam. The students were divided into groups. They did research work and presented their findings to the rest of the class. The students enjoyed and did learnt alot about the various dances. |

Class III students of SMGS presented a fusion of various dances around the world which was an ISA Activity held under the aegis of the British Council. The function was witnessed by the parents, students of classes IV. A warm welcome was given to the honourable chairman Mrs. Anjali Aggarwal, our Principal Mrs. Sheena Kalinga and Vice Principal Ms. Sabina Shergil. A very special warm welcome was also extended to the esteemed guest Ms. Alessandra Bertini, the Director of the Indian Institute of Culture. The dancers enraptured the mind and soul of the viewers with thin suntillating performances. |
The dance is one of the many human experiences which cannot be suppressed. Dancing has existed among all times and among all people. Beauty,splendor and the magnificence of different cultures was brought down to the auditorium of St. Mark’s on 2 September, 2014 when the students of class I performed various fusion dance forms. Dance gives expressions to the beauty of the soul. The celebration was marked with a fusion of dances like Russian and Bharatnatyam, Brazilian and Gujarati, Italian and Kashmiri, Goan and Arabian, Rajasthani and Korean.The beaming faces of the dancers, the mesmerizing smile on their faces and grace of their movements, struck a chord in every heart. |

“Dance is the hidden language of the soul”. It was a moment of great pride for the school when our school’s talented student of class X-C, Hemanshi Arora, performed a full fledged solo Bharatanatyam dance performance.
This Bharatanatyam Performance was held in Azad Bhawan Auditorium, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on 8th December 2013. This auspicious occasion was graced by the school’s Principal, Ms. Sheena Kalenga as the Chief Guest.
The program started by the lighting of the auspicious lamp by the Chief Guest. Hemanshi performed with live music for more than 2 hours. This performance was greatly appreciated by all. She learns this fine old classical dance form under the able guidance of her Guru, Smt. Usha Rao, who is the founder of “Nritya Abhinaya” a dance institution. Hemanshi holds a senior diploma in Bharatanatyam.
In her Aarangetram, she performed the whole margam of this fine art which consisted of 8 items. Everyone was spellbound by her extraordinary eye catching performance. She connected with everyone through her dance. |

In India folk dances are performed for every possible occasion, to celebrate the arrival of seasons, birth of a child, a wedding and festivals.
To hail this very spirit of our country the children of class seedling presented various folk dances from the states of Goa, Garhwal, Rajasthan, Bengal, Kashmir and Gujarat on 25 October 2013.The kids looked fabulous and lighted the stage with their charming performances.The proud parents were amazed to see their tiny tots dancing with confidence.
The audience was mesmerized seeing the children dressed up in authentic costumes. All the performances left indelible impression on everybody's minds. |

India is a vast country with different cultures, heritage, languages, dances etc. On 10th October 2013, the students of SMGS showcased the different colours of our cultural feast.
Students of classes II and III presented different folk dances of India in a colourful and brilliant manner. The rainbow of cultural programmes was prepared under the able stewardship of our teachers. Parents were also invited to make them feel proud of their wards.
The programme started with the performance of students of Class II- B who presented a Marathi Folk Dance. Then came Himachali folk dance performed by class II-E. This was followed by ‘The Bihu’ dance of Assam by class II-D. Their spell binding performance was followed by Karnataka folk dance performed by students of class II-A. ’BALAMJI GHADWADE MERI PAJEB’, this was a Haryanvi song on which performance was given by students of class II-G. By this time everyone had sunk in the depth of music and dance. Then came a flawless performance of students of class II-C, who performed on the folk dance of Kashmir. This was then followed by performance of Kummi dance by class II-F. Their performance was awesome.
Then started the next level of dance performances which were performed by students of class III. The first performance was given by class III-B on folk dance of Kerela which was just amazing. Then came class III-A with Kalangali dance, folk dance of Chattisgarh. Their smooth performance was followed by class III-E who gave a sweet performance on folk dance of Bengal. Then entered students of class III-D to show us ‘The Bihu‘ dance ‘Phul Phuleese’. These tiny tots had shown a poetry of footsteps. The last performance of the show was given by students of class III-C who gave a jaw dropping performance on the folk dance of Maharashtra. The programme concluded with the inspiring speech of our honourable Principal, Ms. Sheena Kalinga who thanked the students for taking us to the different states of India. |

St. Mark’s Girls Senior Secondary School hosted an Inter Class Dance Event on 27 September 2013. The programme started off with a dance performance on Durga Puja followed by a dance on Ganesh Vandana.
The children danced to the tunes taken from different states of India and other countries. Ranging from the foot-tapping numbers to the serene rendings. They were looking vibrant and left the audience wonderstruck.
The programme culminated with the address by the school Principal Ms. Sheena Kalenga.

ANNUAL DANCE
Dance is the most beautiful of all the arts, because it is life itself. Fusion dance event was held for Sapling Class on 24 September 2013. The twinkling stars of Sapling showcased their immense talent and performed without any inhibitions or fear, oblivious of the fact that they were being watched by hundreds of people. They mesmerized everyone with their enchanting performance dance by depicting different forms of dance. From Bharatnatyam to Backstreet boys to Kathak, the tiny tots left everyone spellbound by their commendable performance. The spectators cheered the little ones and the event turned out to be a grand success. |
Dance! D-Dance A-Amusing N-Noble C-Charismatic E-Entertaining. Dance is food for body, mind and soul. It rejuvenates the body filling it with pleasure and health. Keeping this in mind the tiny tots of seedling presented folk dance to satiate the five senses of human body.
India a land of diversity is blessed with different cultures which is rich, colorful and vibrant. Unity in diversity was presented by the tint toddlers who danced to different tunes of India’s diverse culture. Folk dance of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Bengal, Haryana, Kashmir, Gujarat, Punjab and Goa was staged in perfect harmony. Audience along with the students grooved to the music. The school appeared to have wheels, taking the audience on a tour to different states of India. The glamour and glitz gave the event larger than life appeal. All the performances were well appreciated and the event turned out to be a grand success. |
Folk Dance-“Music in the traditional style of the country.” Our school showcased a folk dance extravaganza with a lot of fanfare and colors.
On 17 October 2012, amidst the festival season, all the sections of saplings exhibited the different folk dances of India like dances from Goa, Himachal, Rajasthan, Haryana and Tamil Nadu before the audience. A flamboyant and vibrant event was put up by the teachers and diligent efforts of the dainty students of saplings.
The little ones there were puffed up with enthusiasm and were delighted. The guests were full of praise and appreciation for the commendable efforts put by the young siblings. Our principal, Ms. Sheena Kalenga, an ever supportive and fervent woman for the students made the day special with her presence. |
Dancers can communicate ideas, preserve cultural identities, strengthen social bonds, or just have a lot of fun. The students of class II and III presented beautiful dance from countries like Mexico, Russia, China, Thailand, etc. The audience couldn’t stop applauding. The judges were left spellbound by the mesmerizing performances by the unique dance forms. They praised the participants and their respective teaches for the undaunted effort put in to glorify the event. |

Our school organized an Inter Class Patriotic Song Competition. The students of classes III and IV participated with all their enthusiasm. They presented songs which reflected their love and respect towards the country. The songs showered the rich cultural heritage of our country. The songs infused the audience with the feeling of ‘Do or Die’ for our motherland. The judges appreciated the performance of the students and the winners were awarded. |
