999 Challenge: Yoga - (May 2023)
A healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Hence, physical and mental health go hand-in-hand. With this thought, the school took up the '999 Challenge' launched by the government, which foregrounds Yoga and Meditation as essential elements of a healthy lifestyle. Students participated in the project with great zeal.
The first leg of the challenge focused on Yoga as a vital part of a child's all-round development. More specifically, the students performed nine rounds of Surya Namaskar, which provides complete exercise to the body in a traditional way unique to our culture. It not only awakens our sinews by stretching all muscles in our body, but also relaxes and balances us internally by helping us regulate our breath.
The activity was conducted under the supervision of expert instructors, while demonstrators aided the kids in correcting their stance, posture and technique. Students felt invigorated after the session and left the hall with renewed energy.
999 Challenge: Meditation - (May 2023)
"The more regularly and the more deeply you meditate, the sooner you will find yourself acting always from a center of peace."
Inspired by the '999 Challenge' initiated by the government, the school organised Meditation sessions wherein students were encouraged to practice nine minutes of uninterrupted meditation for world peace. Under the guidance of subject experts, students learnt and practiced proper meditation techniques.
Meditation helps to calm the mind and get rid of stress by offering a way of dealing with daily anxieties and worries. It provides moments of peace in our otherwise busy lives. It also completely relaxes the body by regulating our breathing. At the same time, it sharpens the mind by improving focus and concentration.
Indeed, the calm smiles on the students' faces during and after the sessions were evidence enough of the efficacy of the initiative.
999 Challenge: Teaser - (May 2023)
"Take care of your mind, your body will thank you. Take care of your body, your mind will thank you."
Stressing upon the holistic development of mind and body, the government has initiated the '999 Challenge'. It asks one to perform 9 rounds of Surya Namaskar, 9 minutes of Meditation, for 9 Days in a row.
With a hope that this challenge would help develop a regular habit of practising yoga and meditation amongst students, our school took up the challenge with great enthusiasm.
Here's a short glimpse of what the challenge is all about.
Stay tuned for more updates!

St. Mark's World School celebrates Annual Senior Sports Day 2022-23 - (24 January 2023)
Sports is the celebration of the human spirit and youth; it not only inspires young minds but also teaches good values and ethics to young students. The 'Annual Senior Sports Day' is thus a day of celebration and this much-awaited event was hosted on 24 January 2023 for our ardent and mettlesome sports enthusiasts at our school. The event was declared open by our Vice Principal, Ms. Sabina Shergill who welcomed the huge gathering of students and highlighted the importance of sports and games in one's life.
The school campus echoed with cheers and applauds as students from each house participated in a rainbow of races like 100mts, obstacle, lemon and spoon, hoopla, burst the balloon and relay. Students exhibited their team spirit and resilience in tug of war. In addition to these events, our budding sports persons participated in matches for games like skating, table tennis and lawn tennis and competed hard to add more points to the tally for their houses.
Nehru House was declared the winner of the event. Our Vice Principal. Ms Shergill awarded the winners and motivated the students as sports has less to do with wins and losses, it rather prepares to reach our ultimate goal and teaches about life.
Indeed, it was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.
