Madhvi Aggarwal of VIII-A won First Position in 50 kg. (14 years Green II Belt) at 7th National Tang Soo Do Games 2019-20 held at Maharashtra. She has made the school proud. We congratulate her and wish her success in all her future endeavors.

J.W. Maini Memorial Roller Skating Championship 2020 - (2 February 2020)
Young girls of our school participated in the J.W. MAINI MEMORIAL ROLLER SKATING CHAMPIONSHIP 2020, organised by Crescent Sports Academy at Crescent Public School, Pitampura on 2nd February 2020. The students participated in the skating competition from Classes IIIrd- VIIIth under various categories. They won laurels for our school by securing laurels for our school by securing gold, silver and bronze medals.

Speedball Matches - (19 to 22 January 2020)
Our students participated in Speedball Matches organized by School Game Federation Of India (SGFI) in Palampur (Himachal Pradesh) on 19 to 22 January 2020 wherein Twinkle (6-B) participated in Under-14 category, Nishika (8-E) participated in Under-17 category, Harshika (7-D) secured the Third position in Under-17 category and Kajal (10-B) secured Second position in under-19 category. SGFI felicitated Harshika and Kajal with a scholarship of Rs. 15,000/- and Rs. 21,000/- respectively in presence of Ms. Asha Aggarwal Sports Director (DOE).

SGFI Super 7 Cricket : Under 19 - (January 2020)

The much awaited Junior Annual Sports Day was held on Tuesday 10th December 2019, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere.
The students participated in various sports with great pride and enthusiasm.
It was a delight to see the excitement with which the students of Classes I to V challenged themselves to attempt a variety of races such as balancing the book race, hurdle race, skipping race and flat race etc. They also participated in skating and lawn tennis tournament.

Advaita of Class V participated in the ‘Taekwondo National Championship’ organized by ‘World Swaraksha Foundation (SWF)' at Dada Dev Hall, New Delhi on 2 October 2019. Second Khel Utsav - (29 August 2019)
New Horizon Public School organized 'Second Khel Utsav' at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on 29 August 2019. There were several sport events like Long Jump, 100m Race, Relay Race etc.
Our students bagged various prizes.
Umang got First position in Long Jump and Third position in 60m Race (Under 8 Category).
Nupur Das got Third Position in 100m Race (Under 10 Category).
Nupur Das, Dolly, Afsheen and Hitanshi got Third position in Relay Race (Under 10 Category).

Taekwondo Championship - (26 August 2019)
Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.
These words of Dan Gable were relived by the Taekwondo prodigy of our school Tanishka of Class VII who never fails to add a feather in our cap and did it yet again. The young maestro of this formidable sport won a Gold Medal in the under 33 Kg. weight category in the Taekwondo Zonals Championship held at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, B-3 Paschim Vihar, New Delhi. Facing a tough competition Tanishka managed to bag the first prize astounding her opponent with deft moves. Her talent was highly appreciated and her achievements were hugely lauded by the Vice Principal Ms. Sabina Shergill.
Speedball National Championship - (17 and 18 August 2019)
Students of St. Marks Girls Senior Secondary School won various categories in 11th Speedball National Championship 2019 held at Delhi Haat Pitampura on 17 and 18 August 2019.

Our school participated in the Badminton Zonal Competition held at Bosco Public School on 8 to 11 July 2019. Under the Sub junior category Khushi (VI-A), Soumya (VI-A), Kanak (VI-C) and Shagun (VII-F) bagged the second position. Our senior team too bagged the second position. The senior team members are Prachi (XII-C), Palak (X-D) and Riya (XI-C).
Table Tennis Zonal Competition - (11 and 12 July 2019)
Our school participated in the Table Tennis Zonal Competition held at Bhatnagar International School on 11 and 12 July 2019. Under the sub junior category, Saumya Sharma of Class VI-C, Kanika Kapoor of Class IX-B, Shagun Arora of Class VII-F and Diya Sanghi of Class VIII-A bagged the second position. Our senior team too bought the laurels to the school and bagged the third position. Meet our young sports enthusiast Madhvi Aggarwal of Class VIII-A who participated in the Interschool Tang Soo Do Championship 2019 held at RD International School, Rohini, Delhi. She won Third Position (Bronze Medal) in U-14/G/GB - 48 Kg. category.
Sports Day for Classes 1 to 5 - (February 2019)
"The spirit, the will to win and the will to excel are the things that endure. These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur."
Keeping this in mind, our school organised Annual Sports Day for Classes I-V. It was a day filled with fervour and excitement experienced amidst thrills, shrills and cheers. It was fun filled fest of laughter, energy and delight as many students participated in various races like flat race, 3 legged race and hurdle race etc. The matches of badminton, skating, kho kho and lawn tennis were also held. The best players were selected and were awarded with the trophies.
The aim behind holding the event was to inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship and fondness for sports in children. This event came to an end with a message that "winning is not everything but making the effort to win is".
Annual Function for Classes 1 to 5 - (February 2019)
SMGS organised the much awaited annual function, Revive The Beat for students of Grade 1 to 5. The students performed with utmost grace and confidence on the unforgettable beats that have been rocking the audiences since 1960s. The students grooved rhythmically on super hits like ‘Jailhouse Rock’, ‘Rockabye’ ‘Born To be Alive’, Maria’, the evergreen Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat it’ and the little stars of Class 1 also performed beautifully as fairies, butterflies, chicks and dolls and many more exciting numbers. It was the most beautiful revival of the classic western music. The occasion was graced by the presence of our founder chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal and Chairperson Ms. Anjali Aggarwal and members of the managing committee. Our Chairperson Ms. Anjali Aggarwal applauded the industrious efforts made by all the students. Our Principal, Ms. Sheena Kalenga felicitated Mr. Anil Dixit, a parent of one of our students and completed the event with a vote of thanks.

Inauguration of Cricket Pitch - (February 2019)

SMGS has achieved a new development with the inauguration of a nouvel Cricket pitch in the School premises. Our School considers the accomplishment of great sportsmanship as a virtue that can help students in building a healthy and a progressive life. The chairperson of our school, Mr. T. P. Aggarwal inaugrated this outdoor game accesssorised with a Cricket pitch to enhance the courage and confidence of our girls. As a part of this healthy commencement, Mr. T. P. Aggarwal himself participated in a friendly match with the students of our School who are a part of the Gymkhana Club, Rohtak Road.
This achievement definitely will prove to be an added asset to the sports' spirit of the students of our school.
Tanishka Mathur : a true Champion - (July 2018)
Sportsmanship cannot be taught. It can be inculcated in one’s persona through only one thing, called sports. SMGS feels honoured for Tanishka Mathur of Class VI truly believes in the essence of sports as she makes our school proud with her victorious achievements.
Championship organised by the Delhi Kick boxing Association and won a Gold Medal in the cadet category in the weight 28 Kg.
She also received a Gold Medal in the under 33 Kg. cadet category at the 8th Central District Taekwondo Championship which was organised in July 2018 by the Central District Taekwondo Association.
She received a Bronze Medal in the under 33 Kg. cadet category at 35 Delhi State Taekwondo Champiionship on 25 and 26 July, 2018.
She has also shown her prowess in the sport of Ju-Jitsu as she bagged a bronze medal in the 7th Delhi State Ju-Jitsu Championship in the age group of 12 years while representing her Warrior Academy. Therefore her list of victories confine to a thought that there is no battle that can not be won if one makes efforts and works hard to achieve it.
1st Delhi State Athletics Championship - (2018)

SMGS feels proud to be enlisted in the 1st Delhi State Athletics Championship in Sports complex. Our students participated in varied sports events conducted by National Sports and Physical Fitness Board. Students whole heartedly gave their sporty best in a plethora of events like 400 m,100 m, 200 m and 600 m race. Ridima Kapoor of Class XI bagged gold medal in 400 m, silver medal in 100 m and bronze medal in 200 m. Our other players are Bhumi Chandela of Class VII who won gold medal in 100 and 200 m race respectively and Shipra Dhaka of Class VI also won the silver medal in 600 m and bronze medal in 100 m race. All the students were awarded with certificates and medals for their sportive performance. All the selected girls outdid themselves by reaching National level. They have scorched the name of our school onto new heights.
International Yoga Award - (22 April 2018)
It’s raining awards yet again and this time it is our Yoga teacher, Mr. Naveen Chandra Kandpal who has added another feather to the SMGS cap. He has been honoured with the coveted Mahirshi KewalayaInternational Yoga Award on 22 April 2018 for the excellent work he has rendered in the field of Yoga for the last five years. The prestigious ceremony was held by the Youth Sports Social and Cultural Society at the Ice Skating Club in Shimla. It was a proud moment for him as well as our School for we have since long endeavoured to teach the progeny that Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.
Sub Junior National Kho Kho Championship - (14 and 15 April 2018)
In the spirit of the indigenous game of Kho Kho, girls from St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec. School participated in the U-14 Sub Junior National Kho Kho Championship. The girls represented Delhi at the championship held in Kanpur, UP on 14 and 15 April, 2018.

Junior Olympics held in Thyagraaj Stadium - (31 January 2018)
"Champions aren't made in the gyms, champions are made from something they have deep inside them - A desire, a dream, a vision".
Students of class 1 and 2 showed the true spirit of this quote when they took part in Junior Olympics held in Thyagraaj Stadium. They took part in various games like 100 mts. flat race, hurdle race, relay race and tug of war. They came out with flying colours and won medals in some of the games. Class 1 bagged third position in Hurdle race and second position in relay race. Class 2 bagged first position in relay race and first position in tug of war.
Day 2
Junior Olympics 2018, the most awaited event took place on 31 January 2018 at Thyagraj stadium and this time it was the Sapling students who made the school proud. Umang of class Sapling bagged the first postion in 100m race and the Tug of War team also bagged the first position. So it was all gold for the St. Mark's this time.
Day 3
It’s raining medals for the young athletes of SMGS. The winning spree for us continued today at Junior Olympics 2018, being held at Thyagraj Stadium; with Nupur of III-D winning gold medal in 200 meter flat race and the Tug of war team of class III also won the gold medal. Tanvi Shokeen of class IV-D bagged the Third position in hurdle race. Class III nd class IV relay race teams won the silver medals. Last but not the least Tug of war team of class IV won the bronze medal. Children also get a chance to meet the Boxing champions Mr. Manoj, Mr. Rajendra Prasad and Mr. Jashnlal. All of them well renowned Arjun awardees and olympic players.

The 2018 Winter Junior Olympics in Delhi, Thyagraj Stadium took place from 30th Jan to 2nd Feb. 2018. Many schools participated in the games.
On the 4th day St. Marks Girls Sr. Sec. School won overall trophy in Junior olympics 2018 for class 5th and 6th. It was a memorable event.
Annual Sports Meet for Classes VI to XII - (22 December 2017)
Some seek the comfort of 'excuses', other head to the waiting corner of 'tomorrow', but champions - they chose sports as their therapy.
SMGS is surely home to the champions of posterity for our students prove their mettle in varied fields of sports like cricket, yoga, skating, athletics, basketball, etc. The Annual Senior Sports Day is thus a day of celebration eagerly awaited by our students, which sees zealous and spirited participation by all the sports enthusiasts at our school.
On 22 December 2017, our Annual Senior Sports was declared open by our Vice Principal Ms. Shergill, who emphasized the importance of sports in the life of children. Under the umbrella of this much awaited spectacle, a plethora of track and field events were held for the students. Races like 100mts, relay, obstacle and balancing the book saw the students go neck to neck towards the finish line. In addition to these track events, matches for games like basketball, skating, table tennis and lawn tennis were held wherein our budding sportspersons competed hard to add more points to the tally for their houses. Gandhi house was the proud winner of the coveted trophy of the Best House. The winners were awarded by our Vice Principal Ms. Shergill, who encouraged the students to put forth their best in the arena of sports for this is the field that not only reveals the character of the youth but also shapes it to perfection. The day ended amidst thunderous applause as the students cheered the winners of various events. Furthermore, the school even honored those budding sportspersons at our institution who have brought great laurels to their alma mater by making it to the nationals of sports such cricket and yoga.
Brainstorming Seminar on Youth Development - (22 July 2017)
It is rightly said by Erasmus that the main hope of a nation lies in the proper education of its youth. Ministry of youth affairs and sports organised a brainstorming seminar for the teachers of eminent schools. SMGS enthusiastically was a part of this encouraging session. Academics and sports teachers participated in a spirited way to imbibe the knowledge of youth development amongst the students. Respected ministers and commissioners graced their benign presence to address the gathering with their high ending words and thoughts. The chief guest for the day was Mr. Vijay Goel, Minister of Youth affairs and sports who truly holds a great vision for the development of youth. He engulfed the gathering with his encouraging thoughts. Organisation of NSS, NCC, and scouts in schools is clearly a requisite element to bring about a growth in the experiences of youth. Heritage promotion also makes up an important thought to maintain the archaeological monuments in co-operation with the public and private schools. A huge reference to the integration of children from slum areas was also made to enlighten the youth about the possible amelioration of literacy and sports education. An inspirational example of Saina Nehwal was made to highlight the successful growth of an individual with a hand in hand assistance of schools and colleges. Overall, the session truly illuminated the minds of teachers and helped them to take along with them the catchwords ‘To stand and rise’, for the growth and development of youth through sports.
Badminton Match at BBPS - (June 2017)
The sweat, the time, the exertion and the devotion finally always pays off. The young badminton stars of our school earned accolades for their prowess in the game. Akansha Bhardwaj (XI-A) and Riya Gupta (ix-C) made us proud by bagging first position in the senior and junior category respectively of the Badminton Tournament organised by the Puneet Sharma Badminton Academy at Bal Bharti Public School, Rohini.
62nd Sqay Martial Art School National Games - (2 to 9 January 2017)
Yashika Miglani of Class 10-A made us proud as she emerged victorious at the 62nd Sqay Martial Art School National Games which took place at Chhatrastal Stadium. The competition took place from 2 January to 9 January 2017. She won a gold medal along with a scholarship of Rs. 20,000.
Annual Sports Meet 2016 [Part 1] - (8 to 9 December 2016)
On 8th and 9th of December, 2016, our school held its Annual Sports Meet which was a true celebration of the perpetuating festival of sports, for it is sports that is thoroughly imbued in the fabric of our life; giving it designs and hues that leave no space for the dismal or mundane.
Our Founder Chairperson Mr. T. P. Aggarwal Sir graced the occasion and alongwith our Principal Sheena Ma’am and our Vice Principal Shergill Ma’am welcomed the Chief guests to the Annual Sports Meet. We were in the company of true champions who make one realize that humble beginnings can’t stop one from reaching great heights. One of the honourable Chief guests was Shri. Bal Mukund, who was the National Champion in Yoga for 15 years. We were also honoured to have with us Miss Jayanti Thapliyal, a well known and much rewarded Marathon Runner who has been felicitated at various national as well as international level marathons. Moreover, it was enchanting to have with us Mis.s Praveen Nisha, who has earned the distinction of being the youngest Vice captain of the Indian Kho-kho team and is a first year student at Delhi University. Our Principal Miss. Sheena declared the meet open by encouraging the participants and letting loose multi-hued balloons.
Parents of our budding sport stars had turned up in a large number to cheer their wards and were captivated by the scintillating opening ceremony which was a spectacle worth admiring. Young achievers of our school that included Jasleen Kaur of IX-A, Khwaish Sukhija of X B, Ishika Rawat of X C and Yashika of X-B carried the torch whose flame represents integerity, perseverence and an indomitable spirit. Loud cheers could be heard for these budding sport stars as they passed the torch and handed it over to our Founder Chairperson Mr. T. P. Aggarwal SIr, who then lit the cauldron of light with its eternal flame. The marchpast that followed saw all the students marching smartly in the colours of their respective Houses, holding aloft their House flags with pride. In the Opening Ceremony, our young Yoga, Skipping and Taekwondo enthusiasts exhibited their talent with jaw dropping moves that left the audience in awe. Two dance performances were also put forth wherein young dancers charmed the audience with their twirling umbrellas and entangled them in the swirls and waves of their fabrics. Then it was time for the races and games to begin wherein our students participated with great zeal and dedication, going neck to neck for each medal to be won. Loud cheers could be heard as the students participated in various track and field events such as the 100mt race, relay race, shotput, discus throw etc. The matches of various games such as basketball, handball, table tennis, lawn tennis, badminton etc also saw enthusiastic participation.
On the 2nd day of the Annual Sports Meet, we had in our midst the delegates from St. John’s College, Sri Lanka who were here on an exchange programme. They too participated in two races and were infected by the enthusiasm that surrounded them. The Annual Sports Meet ended on a successful note with the winners being awarded by our Principal Ms. Sheena and Vice Principal Ms. Shergill.
Badminton Zonal Competition - (September 2016)
The studentsof St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec School participated in Badminton Zonal Competition held at Bosco Public School, Paschim Vihar, Delhi.
The Senior Badminton Team bagged the third position in Badminton Zonals.
Sheer determination coupled with hard work and talent helped our students attain triumph and made the school feel proud.
Second Delhi State Speedball Championship, 2016 - (17 July 2016)
Bo Jakson, a Baseball and Football player once quoted - 'Set your goals high and don't stop till you get there'. Our school students participated in the Second Delhi State Speedball Championship held on 17 July, 2016 at Raja Ram Mohan Roy School, Rohini.
In Under-8 (Solo) category, Twinkle (3-D) bagged the first position, Sakshi Rohila (3-B) bagged the second position and Shagun Kaur (4-B) bagged the third position. In Under-10 (Solo) category, Jassica Gupta (6-C) secured the first position, Nishika (5-F) secured the second position and Prabhleen Kaur (5-B) secured the third position. In Under-12 (Solo) category, Gurleen (7-A) bagged the first position, Gaurika Arora (7-A) and Kajal (7-A) bagged the second position and Tanisha Sharma (5-B) secured the third position. In Under-14 (Solo) category, Kashish Lakra (8-E) bagged the first position and Mitali (7-A) bagged the second position.
In Under-8 (Single category), Sukhkiran Kaur (3-D) bagged the first position, Sejal (3-B) bagged the second position and Diya Chhabra (3-B) bagged the third position. In Under-10 (Single Category), Nishika (5-F) secured the first position, Supriya Sharma (4-F) and Vanshika Shawney (4-E) secured the third position. In Under-12 (Single Category), Kajal (7-A) secured the first position, Gurleen (7-A) bagged the second position and Gaurika Arora (7-A) bagged the third position.

Sixth Rural National Games - (21 and 22 May 2016)
Our zealous students participated in the Sixth Rural National Games held at Nehru Stadium in Goa on 21st and 22nd May, 2016. 22 states took part in the games, wherein, the first position was secured by Maharashtra, the second position was bagged by Delhi and Punjab secured the third position. Our school girls participated enthusiastically and represented Delhi in badminton, basketball, yoga, athletics and table tennis.
BADMINTON - Riya Gupta (VIII-C) won the silver medal in U-14 category. In U-17 category, Prachi Rawat (IX-C) bagged the first position and Arzu (XI-C) and Pragya Rawat (IX-C) bagged the third position. In U-19, the first position was secured by Aakansha Bhardwaj (X-C) and Ishika Rawat (X-C) secured the second position.
BASKETBALL -
Our basketball team won the first position in U-19 nationals. The team comprised of Mahima Gupta (XII-B), Palak Sachdeva (XII-B), Ashna Arora (XII-B), Hansa Kaushik (XII-B), Sarika Kashyap (XI-A), Nidhima Taneja (XI-B), Khushi Shokeen (IX-B) and Sejal Mahawar (IX-C).
YOGA - Paridhi Pareek (XI-A) secured the second position in U-19 category.
ATHLETICS -
In U-17, Shrishti Lakra (IX-A) won the gold medal in 200 metres race. In U-19, Drishti Sabharwal (XI-B) won the silver medal in 200 metres race and Shweta Jangir (XII-A) won the gold medal in 400 metres race.
SHOTPUT - Vaishnavi Bhargava (XI-B) won the gold medal in shotput.

Ramjas Table Tennis Tornament was held from 26 April to 30 April, 2016. In Under 10 category, the students of our school secured the second position.
They were: Gaurika (III-C), Shagun (IV-D) and Soumya (III-A). In Under 8 category, Manasvni (I), Prajna (I), Dolly Sharma (I) and Riddhi Sharma (II-B) had participated and displayed their talents. In Under 6 category, Riya Bajaj (Sapling), Priyanshi Narula (Sapling) and Ruhani Manchanda (Sapling) had reached till quarter finals.

This time we had our students competing at Ramjas T.T. Tournament 2015. It was conducted from 20 to 25 April 2015. It was the under 6 team from our school that managed to hit the bill's eye. They secured the II position and brought laurels to their alma mater.

St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School celebrated its Annual Sports Day for the Junior School was held on the 12th and 13th of February 2015. The students participated with full enthusiasm in different races. Seedling, Sapling and Class 1 students had there Sports Day on 13 Feb. 2015. The students actively participated in races like Fower Race, Hoopla Race, Get Ready Race and 100 metre. The students from Class II to Class V had there Sports Day on 12 Feb. 2015 and they competed in races like Animal Mask Race, 100 m and Ball Race. All the four houses – Nehru, Shastri, Patel and Gandhi participated with great zeal and healthy competitive spirit. All the students cheered for their respective houses and class mates with lot of excitement. The principal, Ms. Sheena Kalenga gave medals to the winners and also spoke encouraging words to boost the morale of all the participants. The event was full of energy and high spirits. The students displayed true sportsmanship on the ground.
Inter Section Lawn Tennis Competition - (5 November 2014)
All Work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
Keeping in line with the above statement St. Mark's Girls Senior Secondary School, Meera Bagh organised Inter - Section Lawn Tennis Competition for students of Class III, IV and V. The first, second and third prize winners were given medals by our educational supervisor Ms. Sumbul during a special assembly on 5 November 2014.

what makes a true sportsperson. Keeping the feeling of determination alive along with the little fear of losing, the students of our school Ankita Baluja, Srishti Bhatia and Niharika Grover went to S. K. V B-3 Sr. Sec. Public School, Paschim Vihar, Delhi for Badminton Zonals on 21 August 2014.
Their hard work and devotion to the sport helped them bag the third position. With a bronze medal in hands, they brought laurels to the school.
Under 16 Basket Ball Tournament - (6 August 2014)

The students of our school participated in the under 16 basketball tournament held at R. D. Rajpal Public School on 6 August 2014. They displayed a great amount of vigor and participated with zealous attitude. Our school has taught the students well that winning is not obsolete and an arduous input is what counts. This is what kept our students going despite the face of tough competition.

Interhouse Basketball Competition - (2014)
When you're riding, only the race in which you're riding is important. Our school always encourages the students to not only mentally prepare themselves for the world but also try to physically enlighten themselves. Sports increases concentration level and burns all our extra carbs. Our school regularly organizes various sports meets and events in order to keep the students fit as a fiddle. Recently, an Interhouse Basketball Competition was held for classes VI to XI. All houses played equally well but Nehru house emerged as the winner.

St. Sophia Open Tournament - (June 2014)
As it is said, "Sportsmanship is what truly makes a good sportsperson great." Our school was immensely pleased when Nirvani Gautam kept up her sportsmanship and brought laurels to the school.
At St. Sophia Open Tournament held in June 2014, she was declared the best player of the game wherein she competed with many others. The games are a huge success in providing a person a great life.
The school keeps on indulging the students into various games to keep up the spirit of sportsmanship.
Open Lawn Tennis Tournament - (18 May 2014)
"Sports is the greatest physical poetry."
Keeping this in mind, the students in our school showcased their talents at the Open Tournament held in St. Mark's Girls Sr Sec School on 18 May 2014. In the Under-10 Rally, Palak Gaur secured the II position. Whereas in the Under-12 Rally, Nirvani Gautam and Pragya Rawat secured the I and the II position respectively. The talented students were praised by everyone and the school appreciates their talents.
Annual Sports Day for classes Seedling, Sapling and I - (13 February 2014)
SMGS celebrated its Annual Sports Day for classes Seedling, Sapling and I on the 13th of February 2014. Little toddlers participated zealously in different races. All the four houses, Nehru Shastri Patel and Gandhi participated with great energy and healthy competitive spirit. Parents were also invited who cheered for their kids and boosted the morale of the participants. Many field events took place.
The event started with the 100 METRES RACE. The students from all the classes ran on the track with all their heart and might. The UMBRELLA RACE and MASK RACE saw students of class Sapling contesting with each other to win the race. Fruits and Vegetables Race was a fun ‘delectable’ race, where kids had to collect fruits and vegetables from the basket and run to the finishing point. In the PARENT’S RACE, children’s mothers had to grab chocolates with their mouths without using their hands and rush to the finishing line.
HOOPLA RACE was organised for class Sapling. The students raced to the finishing line holding the hoopla rings in their hands. CONE AND BALL RACE was a fun race. The students left everybody spellbound. It was amazing to see kids galvanizing into action on the track and quickly collecting the ball in their cones and running. Little kids exhibited their building skills when they ran on the track, collected boxes, built a pyramid and reached the finishing line, while kids’ fathers contested with each other by stepping on small chairs kept on the track and running to the finishing line.
BEAN RACE was organised for class I. The students had fun balancing a little bean bag on their heads and racing with it to the finishing line. In the FLAG RACE kids had to run with a flag and plant it in a pot. The OBSTACLE RACE saw kid’s fathers overcoming the challenge of passing through a wooden frame and a net to reach the finishing line.
The event was full of energy and high spirits. Participants and the cheering crowd created a frolicsome atmosphere. The students gave spectacular performance, which spoke of discipline and sportsmanship.
Sports Day Prize Distribution Ceremony - (18 February 2014)
The Prize Distribution Ceremony for the Sports Day of St. Mark's Girls School was held on 18 February 2014. The shining stars of the Sports Day were awarded prestigious medals and certificates in that special assembly. The gathered was honoured by the presence of the Principal, Ms. Sheena Kalenga and the Vice Principal, Ms. Sabina Shergill. Apart from honouring the winners of the Sports Day, the students who won at the National and District levels during the Academic session 2013-2014 were also felicitated. The winners were appreciated with round of applause by their fellow mates. The ceremony created incentives for other students to participate in Sports. Nehru House won the award for the Best House of 2013-2014.
Inter House Leg Cricket Tournament - (31 January 2014)
People do not play sports only for fun, they play because they cannot imagine their life without it. It is their passion and they do their every bit to achieve it.
Our school organized an Inter House Leg Cricket Tournament on 31 January 2014. Though cricket seems to be a game of men but our girls proved that even they have talent and thus showed exhilarating performance. Each one of them revealed their unique talent of sportsmanship, team work and discipline. Nehru House came out with flying colors followed by Patel house and Gandhi house.
The glory of sports comes from dedication, determination and desire to win. Achieving success and personal glory has less to do with wins and losses than it has to do with learning and not quitting even after losing. Keeping this noble thought and the spirit of sportsmanship in mind, our school organized the Senior Annual Sports Day for its talented and sporty students. The Senior Annual day was held on 19 December, 2013 .This much loved and awaited event saw the active participation of the students who participated eagerly. Various events like 100 metre race, rolling the mat, relay, hoopla race, skipping race, balancing the book and marble race were held. The students participated willingly and exhibited the best of their talents, sportsmanship, determination and hard work.
Keeping in mind that our greatest glory is not in failing but in rising every time we fail, the students energetically ran in the races. The audience was as enthusiastic as the participants were and cheered their respective houses. Nehru house emerged as the winner, followed by Gandhi, Shastri and Patel house. The programme ended with an inspiring speech given by the Vice Principal Ms. Sabina Shergill.

SMGS celebrated its Annual Sports Day for juniors from classes II to V on the 18th of December 2013.
The event was commenced by the Principal of the school, Ms. Sheena, who hoisted the flag and declared the meet open. All the four houses, Nehru Shastri Patel and Gandhi participated with great energy and healthy competitive spirit. Students cheered for their house and boosted the morale of the participants. Many field events took place.
The event started with the 100 METRES RACE. The students from all the classes ran on the track with all their heart and might. BALANCE THE SHUTTLE RACE was organised for classes 2 and 3, where the students were seen carefully balancing the shuttle on their rackets and pacing fast on the track. CONE RACE was organised for classes 2 and 3. The students left everybody spellbound. It was amazing to see kids galvanizing into action on the track and quickly collecting the ball in their cones and running. MARBLE RACE was also organised for classes 2 and 3. The students had fun balancing the marble on a spoon which was placed in their mouths and raced with it to the finishing line. Next came the SKIPPING RACE for classes 4 and 5, where students showcased their dexterity and raced skipping to the finishing line. HOOPLA RACE was organised for classes 4 and 5. The students raced to the finishing line holding the hoopla rings in their hands. ROLLING THE MAT RACE for classes 4 and 5 made something as mundane as rolling a mat adventurous. Students had to roll the mat and race with it to the finishing line. Finally the most popular races of all, RELAY RACE was organised where students of class 5 worked as a team of four.
The event was full of energy and high spirits. Participants and the cheering crowd created a frolicsome atmosphere. The students gave spectacular performance, which spoke of discipline and sportsmanship.

Inter School Skating Championship 2013 - (30 November to 1 December 2013)
"If you believe in yourself, have dedication and pride and never quit, you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high, but so are the rewards."
The students of our school recently participated in the Inter School Skating Championship 2013 held at DAV Public school from 30 November to 1 December 2013. The students gave some very exemplary performances leaving everyone awestruck. Our school won the first position overall in this championship. It was a promising opportunity for our young skaters who gave their opponents a run-around.

A Table Tennis Tournament was recently held in Bosco Public School on 1 November 2013.The students of our school keenly participated in this event and came out with flying colours.
"You find that you have peace of mind and can enjoy yourself, get more sleep, rest when you know that it was a one hundred percent effort that you gave - win or lose."
And this hundred percent effort was given by the students of our school when they participated in the Inter District Table Tennis Tournament held at the IGI Stadium, New Delhi. The students showed their will and determination by giving appreciative performances and impressing everyone.

Inter Class Lawn Tennis Competition - (17 to 20 September 2013)
People do not play sports because it is fun.They play it because they cannot imagine their life with out it. It is a part of them and it is what they live for. It is who they are! The same holds true for the students of our school as well. Our budding sportswomen enthusiastically participate in various competitions and give their best shot. They recently participated in an Inter Class Lawn Tennis Competition held in our school from 17 to 20 September 2013. Their performance was exhilarating and enlivening and showcased their sportsmanship, determination, team work and discipline.

Zonal Badminton Championship - (September 2013)
The love for sports among our students was given a boost at the Zonal Badminton Championship held at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidhyalaya, Paschim Vihar in the month of September 2013. The team of senior students from our school comprising of Niharika Grover, Srishti Bhatia, Ankita Baluja and Sanya Wasson from class XI, secured the first position.
Basketball Zonal Championship - (September 2013)
The enthusiastic students of our school participated in the Basketball Zonals and raised the name of our school. This event was held at Jesus and Mary Convent in the month of September 2013. Our senior team won the first position. The team members were Ustat Kaur of XI-B, Nandini Kaushik of XI-C, Akanksha Chaudhary of XI-C, Rashima Taneja of XI-B, Prakriti Gianey of XI-B, Supriya Malhotra of X-C, Vanshika Garg of IX-A, Divyanshi Kohli of X-B, Nandita Pandey of X-B and Manvi Bhalla of XI-B.
The students of our school brought laurels for us in the Table Tennis Zonals held at Bosco Public School in the month of September 2013. Among the juniors, our team comprising of Aashna Khera of IX-C, Purva Thakur of IX-C, Gauri Sachdeva of IX-A and Arushi Mishra of X-B secured the second position.
Anushka Yadav of VI-C, Khwahish Sukhija of VII-C, Prapti Singh of VIII-C and Mehak Arora of VIII-C : The team of the sub junior category brought laurels to the school by bagging the first position. The enthusiasts from the senior category comprising of Aakarsha Handa of XI-A, Namrata Pandey of XI-A, Lakshita Lamba of XI-B and Nandini Kaushik of XI-C bagged the first position.
Prize Distribution ceremony for the Senior Leg Cricket Team - (12 - 14 May 2013)
The Investiture Ceremony was followed by a Prize Distribution ceremony wherein the senior leg cricket team was felicitated for bringing laurels to the school for bagging the first position in the Leg Cricket Nationals held at Ambala.
Ms. Shabnam, the Physical Education teacher of our school, had the proud privilege of guiding the Delhi Leg Cricket Team as its coach in the Leg Cricket National Tournament, which was held from 12 to 14 May 2013. This championship was organised by the Leg Cricket Federation of India. Under her able guidance, the Delhi Leg Cricket Team bagged the first position. Their performance was scintillating and showcased Ms. Shabnam's expertise in this field.
Inter School Table Tennis Tournament - (23 to 27 April 2013)

This is the belief of the students of St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec. School who represented the school in the Inter School Table Tennis Tournament held at Ramjas, Anand Prabhat, Delhi from 23rd to 27th April 2013. After all, sports and physical education are necessary components of human development, good health, and companionship.
It is necessary to have the spirit of friendly competition.
The students participated in the event with great zeal and made the school proud by winning the III position.
Well, to be a healthy person, sports is an essential part of life. Sports boost up stamina, improve immunity, revitalizes body and refreshes and rejuvenates one’s mind. Keeping this thing in mind, our school participated in the 1st Team Tennis Inter School Tennis Tournament which was held from 11 to 12 February 2013.
First Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Leg Cricket Championship - 2013 - (8 to 10 February 2013)

A very famous quote which means that with the regular. curriculum, sports play a vital role to refresh our mind and soul. To inculcate this value in our students, the school participated in the First Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Leg Cricket Championship - 2013 held at Rajiv Gandhi stadium, Bawana from 8 to 10 February 2013.

The love for sports among the students of our school were given a boast at the Inter School Table Tennis Tournament held at New Era Public School, Mayapuri from 25 July to 27 July 2012. The girls in U-17 category comprising of Sukriti Sukhija and Lakshita Lamba of X A and Akarsha Handa and Namrata Pandey of X C brought laurels to the school by securing the first position. Aashna Khera, Aanchal Singh, Gauri Sachdeva and Purva Thakur of VIII C played in U-14 category and reached Pre-Quarter Finals. The enthusiasts in U-12 category comprising of Khwahish Sukhija of VI C, Muskan Jha of VI B, Anushka of V and Harshita of VI B also got an opportunity to participate and reached the Pre-Quarter Finals. The participants were full of energy and displayed true spirit of sports.
Open Badminton Tournament - (15 to 22 June 2012)
The girls of our school participated in the Open Badminton Tournament held at Thyagraj Stadium from 15 June to 22 June 2012. The participants showed true sportsmanship and played their heart out. The participants were, Niharika Grover, AnkitaBaluja, Srishti Bhatia and Sanya Wasson of X A.

Walking on the of Saina Nehwal the students of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School - Niharika Grover and Srishti Bhatia of class IX Abrought laurels to the school by securing the Ist position in NCR Badminton Championship (Doubles) held at Genesis Global School, Noida in the month of September 2011.
The love for sports among students was given a boost at the Zonal Badminton Championship held at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Paschim Vihar in the month of October 2011. Among the juniors, the team comprising of Niharika Grover, Srishti Bhatia, Sanya Wasson and Bhavya Dang all secured the first position.

The zealous students of class IX of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School actively participated in the Delhi State Junior Badminton Championship where Niharika Grover of IX A and Deepakshi Dabas of VIII A showcased their talent both in the singles as well as the doubles category.
