To mark the International Plant Health Day, students from Classes 6 and 7 showcased their commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. Engaging in hands-on activities, they crafted organic fertilizers using a blend of soil, eggshells, and kitchen waste, underscoring the importance of eco-friendly practices in agriculture.
Following this, they diligently tended to potted plants, demonstrating their understanding of plant care by watering and nurturing them. This practical session not only imparted valuable knowledge but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards the environment among the young learners.
In the words of one enthusiastic participant, "Our actions today determine the health of our planet tomorrow. By nurturing plants, we nurture life itself."
The event served as a reminder of the critical role that plant health plays in sustaining ecosystems and ensuring food security, inspiring the next generation to become stewards of our planet's well-being. |

National Technology Day is celebrated every year on May 11 in order to pay tribute to the scientists, researchers, engineers and others who help the country make progress in the field of technology. The first National Technology Day was celebrated on May 11, 1999, and since then the occasion has been used to highlight the country's technological progress in various fields. To celebrate National Technology Day, the students of Class XI of our school made infographics on the significance and origin of this day. At the end of the activity the students were sensitized about the importance of science and technology in our daily lives. |

May 3 acts as a reminder to governments of the need to respect their commitment to press freedom and is also a day of reflection among media professional about issues of press freedom and professional ethics. They play a vital role in shaping public discourse, influencing perceptions, driving action and generating publicity ! To emphasize the importance and need of freedom of press, a mock budget session was organised on May 2 for the students of Class 12 where the Zealous pupils acted as journalists and posed valid and serious questions from the other students who acted as ministers and secretary of the finance ministry. The session made the students aware of the fact that it is the press that acts as a conduit between the government and the citizens, hence there role in society is vital. |

Happy International Labour Day! May 1 is a special day for workers as it recognizes and celebrates the contributions of workers and the working-class struggle. Paying tribute to the workers of every field, our school students of Class X provided sumptuous and nutritious meals to the toiling and tirelessly working labour. This meal was prepared by the home science students in the lab under the supervision of a teacher.
It was an overwhelming visit ensuring that together we can make a difference.

Labour Day not only recognises workers' hard work but also tries to educate them about their rights and protect them from exploitation. International Dance Day is a significant day devoted to the art form of dance. It is a time to raise awareness about the importance of dance in our lives and to promote its accessibility and inclusivity. It is celebrated by people all over the world, and it is an opportunity to showcase the diversity of dance forms and to promote its inclusivity and accessibility. Through dance, students learn teamwork, focus, and improvisational skills.
One of the main ways to celebrate this day is by participating in dance-related activities, whether as performers or audience members. This can be a great way to express one’s love for the art form and to connect with others from all over the world who share a passion for dance. To celebrate this day a workshop was conducted for Class VI by our dance teacher Mr. Mayank where he motivated and influenced our young dancers, taught them different moves, steps and forms with great energy and students from Classes III-V and VII - XII also performed in their classrooms on different songs like Poker Face, Waka Waka, Bengali dance and many more.

On the occasion of the International Mother Language Day, to highlight the importance of one’s mother language, an engaging activity was conducted for the students of Class VI.
The students watched a documentary based on the history of the International Mother Language Day. After watching the video the students wrote lovely poems in their mother languages like Punjabi, Gujarati, Urdu etc. The activity emphasised that we should never stop valuing our mother language as it is something to always respect and cherish. It was a splendid session enjoyed by all the students. |

World Day of Social Justice is observed every year on February 20 with the objective of promoting a just and equitable society. The day serves as a reminder to address and eliminate structural, cultural, and individual barriers that come in the way of realization of opportunities and creative expressions of our inner selves and identities. Valuing diversity and differences and promoting inclusiveness are central to the project of social justice.
To commemorate this significant day, the Humanities students of Class XI watched a highly acclaimed Marathi short film, ‘Chirbhog’, followed by an illuminating discussion. The film highlights caste and vocation-based discrimination in society through the story of a boy and his humiliating struggles, to the point where he decides to stand up and expose the contradictions in theory and practice.
Furthermore, an engaging activity titled ‘Map Your Heartbreak’, was conducted wherein students identified various kinds of injustices and inequalities that they experience in private and public spaces and also proposed possible solutions and actions to redress them.
These activities were aimed at raising awareness about social justice issues, recognizing and identifying signs of injustice, bias, and oppression, and empowering young minds to raise their voice against all forms of injustice while simultaneously providing an outlet for self-expression and encouraging the students to reflect on and communicate their perspectives creatively. |

Darwin Day is celebrated on 12th February every year to commemorate the birthday of renowned biologist Charles Darwin.
The day is used to highlight Darwin’s contributions to science and to promote science in general. This day serves as a reminder of the importance of scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and the ongoing exploration of the natural world.
Students of Class IX were shown a video which was followed by a group activity to understand his groundbreaking theory of evolution by natural selection that continues to be the cornerstone of modern biology.
It was an opportunity to encourage discussions about the role of science in shaping our understanding of the natural world. |

The World Pulses Day is celebrated annually on February 10th to recognize the importance of pulses for food security, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture. Pulses, also known as legumes, refer to the edible seeds of leguminous plants grown for food. Commonly consumed types of pulses include dried beans, lentils, and peas.
To acknowledge the vital role of pulses and to deepen the understanding of different types of pulses, their nutritional benefits, and promote healthy eating habits, the students of Class V got the opportunity to organise a pulses party which was a delightful and educational experience for them. It also helped them to explore personal preferences and alternatives for incorporating more pulses into their meals. |

Our school took the initiative to teach the students of ‘Sahyog Care For You’ at Nilothi Centre. This is a well-known NGO working for child rehabilitation. The students of Class IX from our school volunteered to impart education to these underprivileged students on 9 February 2024 on the occasion of World NGO Day and help them grasp and learn the correct usage of tenses and its use in speaking English language.
The students initiated the learning process in the form of a skit for the convenience and better understanding of the pupils. ‘Tense or time’ was depicted as a queen with three daughters viz., princess present, princess past and princess future. The students of our school very well understood the need of their pupils and imparted knowledge of grammatical tenses in the best possible way. The teaching was impactful and customized to suit for maximum participation of the pupils. The students had a wonderful experience and a feeling of making others learn boost their own self-esteem and developed a sense of purpose. They felt happier and more fulfilled. |

Some topics of science have always been in talks but are not tangible. In a attempt to make students aware of the concepts of science which have greater impact on our thinking and imagination, students prepared a presentation and delivered SCIENCE TALKS on the occasion of National Science Day about some explored yet not completely known aspects of science like astrophysics, science behind manifestation, applications of piezoelectricity, time travel and multiverse. The presentations given by the students included the scientific data obtained so far and also discussed its impact on our thinking and understanding. The audience also participated in the talks through a question answer round and a fun quiz at the end of the event. The science talks made the students more curious about the topics and compelled them to know more about them. |

75th Republic Day Celebrations took place with great patriotic fervour and zest at St. Mark’s World School.
The celebrations began with the National Flag being unfurled by our Principal Ms. Sheena Kalenga. The teachers, school staff and students from Classes Seedling and Sapling joined together in the singing of the National Anthem and other patriotic songs. Furthermore, the Principal Ms. Sheena Kalenga interacted with the enthusiastic patriotic cherubs and was amazed at their knowledge about our National festival. The words of the Principal on this historic day inspired the students and motivated them to uphold the honour of the nation. |

National Voters’ Day (NVD) is observed annually on January 25 to commemorate the foundation day of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in 1950. It is a day dedicated to strengthening the democratic process by encouraging voter participation and emphasizing the importance of every vote in shaping the nation’s future.
National Voters’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the students of Class IX and XI. The students of Class XI attentively watched a video, ‘A Decade of SVEEP’ (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation), a flagship programme of the ECI which aims at spreading voter awareness and voter literacy in India in a bid to create empowered voters. Thereafter, they presented PPT slides as part of an activity titled, ‘Envisioning an Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) in our School’, and came up with interesting ideas and suggestions for the club’s name, its structure, organization and functions; anticipating the fruition of this collective idea into reality.
Students of Class IX took a pledge wherein they resolved to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections.
These activities fostered a sense of agency and initiative, responsibility and democratic spirit among students, and were found to be incredibly rewarding. |

Every year, 25th January is celebrated as the India National Tourism Day. This day is aimed at promoting tourism in the country and creating awareness about the role it plays in the economic, social, and cultural development of India. This day raises awareness about the positive impacts of tourism while emphasising responsible and eco-friendly travel practices. Keeping this in mind students of Class VI made an itinerary on their favourite places in India. This activity was a valuable and engaging experience for the students. The students did the activity with great zeal and enthusiasm. Designing itineraries for their favourite places not only allowed them to showcase creativity but also provided them with practical insights into travel planning. It was a splendid session that was enjoyed by all the students. |

The National Girl Child Day is celebrated in India every year on January 24th. It was started by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Government of India in 2008, with the purpose to spread awareness among people about all the inequalities girls face in Indian society. To mark the importance of this day a Slogan writing activity was organised for the students of Class XI to express their views on the importance of girl child. On this thoughtful day of National Youth Day an activity was conducted for the students of Class XI where they wrote and spoke on what they aspire to be and created a timeline and vision board for the same.
They created the yearly advancement strategy with the amount of years they thought it would take for them to achieve their goal. They even outlined strategic steps for advancement through focused education, networking, and adaptive planning and ensuring progress towards your aspiration. This activity helped them to visualize their goals. |
