Keeping this in mind, a grand celebration happened at St. Mark’s Girls Senior Secondary School by the students of class IV on 24 December 2019. The celebration commenced with a carol devoted to Lord Jesus, followed by a short musical skit that aimed at spreading the message of love and forgiveness as preached and practiced by Lord Jesus. The students and parents enjoyed seeing the skit along with a number of dance performances and carols in between. The celebration concluded with the presence of Santa Claus who graced the occasion by giving sweets to the students who were witnessing the show. It made the students happier than before and left them awaited for a similar celebration.
Christmas Celebrations for Classes I and II - (23 December 2019)
Christmas is the festival which inspires the spirit of sharing and caring.
Soaking in the spirit of Christmas, the tiny tots of our school celebrated the festival with enthusiasm on December 23, 2019. It is this time of the year when children excitedly await for Santa's jingling bells and gifts.
The school ground wore a festive look and was beautifully decorated creating an ambience for a perfect party.The students had a blast when they danced and sang melodious carols and celebrated the vibrant festival with elated spirits and fervour.
National Mathematics Day - (22 December 2019)
Mathematics is the most beautiful and most powerful creation of the human spirit.
The Man Who Knew Infinity, Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan, was an Indian Mathematician who made pioneering contributions during his short life. He from the age of 12 independently compiled nearly 3,900 results. In order to celebrate the birth of Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan, the government declared 22 December to be National Mathematics Day.
SMGS paid tribute to Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan by celebrating the National Mathematics Day by organizing various activities for Classes I - IX and XI.
Activity on Number Pattern was held for Classes I and II. A short documentary was shown to Classes VI - VIII which was followed by Magic Square Activity for Class VI, a Power-Point Presentation and a Quiz for Class VII and an activity on tracing the path using co-ordinates giving them an idea of how GPRS works was organized for Class VIII. Class XI prepared a Power-Point presentation for Class IX on Srinivasa Ramanujan, his journal and his journey to Cambridge thereby adding fun mixed with wit to the subject in the most interesting manner.
Christmas Party for Class III, IV and V - (18 December 2019)
Christmas is an exciting time for everyone,especially for kids. And having a school Christmas party can really allow them to enjoy the season. Christmas Party is a great way to help the children in making the positive associations with each other and also that school can be a place for leisure. Keeping this in mind St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec. School organised a Christmas Party for the students of Classes III , IV and V, in order to break the monotony and get into the feels of Christmas spirits. Children were enthusiastic to play games and sing the carols with their teachers and friends.
All in all it was a great experience for everyone.
Christmas Party for Seedling and Sapling - (18 December 2019)
'The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.'
Soaking in the spirit of Christmas, tiny tots of Seedling and Sapling celebrated the festival with enthusiasm on 18th December 2019. The school was beautifully decorated and children were dressed up in their party dresses. The students sang and danced to Christmas Carols. They played the games passing the parcel and run to the symbols with utmost zeal. The Puppet show organised by the school was Cherry on the Cake. The Party ended when children's dearest Santa Claus came, danced with them and showered all the children with Christmas gifts.
Armed Forces Flag Day - (7 December 2019)
"And they who for their country die
shall fill an honored grave,
for glory lights the soldiers tomb
and beauty weeps the brave".
Our school celebrated the Armed Forces Flag Day on the 7th December 2019.
The students and teachers collected funds through distribution of flags in return for donations to contribute towards the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund which is used for the resettlement and betterment of battle casualties, serving personnel, ex service men and their families.
This was an occasion for us to pay tribute to our soldiers for their courage, sacrifice and selfless devotion to duty towards our country.
International day of disabled persons - (3 December 2019)
“I don’t have a disability; I have a different ability”.
International day of disabled persons was started celebrating internationally on 3rd of December every year and promoted as an international observance by the United Nations from 1992. The day was greatly emphasized to celebrate it yearly in order to promote the awareness about the people with disabilities as well as to encourage them by implementing a lot of assistance in their real life to enhance their way of life and remove the social stigma towards them. Since 1992, it has been celebrated continuously every year till this year with a lot of success all over the world. The international day for disabled persons was celebrated on Tuesday, 3rd December 2019. The theme for 2019 is “Promoting the Participation of Persons with Disabilities and their Leadership: taking action on the 2030 Development Agenda”.
Our school being a firm believer of holistic development, recognizing student diversity is determined to provide a variety of pathways to meet student’s needs. The Class II - VII students were made aware of varying disabilities, how differently abled people lead their lives, attend schools and overcome their challenges through video presentation in their classes. The aim was to de-stigmatize the social taboo against differently abled people. Students were encouraged towards deeper understanding and acceptance of people with special abilities and support them by creating a conducive environment.
Students were educated about various Children were encouraged to be empathetic and promote kindness and acceptance for other around by maintaining respect and compassion and individual differences. The students got an opportunity to accept individual personalities and be a part of an equanimity society.
Thanks Giving Day by Class Seedling to I - (28 November 2019)
"Gratitude turns what we have into enough".
What a better way to acknowledge the same towards the beautiful and helping souls around us. St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec. School observed Thanks Giving Day on November 28, 2019. Children were explained the significance and concept of celebrating this special day. They shared the spirit of gratitude by performing an array of activities. Our zealous children made beautiful thank you cards and the videos were also shown to them. As we express our gratitude we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them and this was executed with great enthusiasm.
Diwali Celebrations by Class Seedling - (25 October 2019)
The celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, came alive at SMGS on October 25 when the tiny tots wore a festive look with pots, diyas and lanterns adorning the premises of the school. The children enthusiastically presented a short skit based on how to celebrate Green Diwali followed by a beautiful dance.The rangoli was also made on the theme of eco-friendly Diwali by the students which added the perfect texture to the festivity. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. Children decorated diyas with colors and glitter.
Both Teachers and students enjoyed the Diwali celebrations wholeheartedly.
Dussehra Celebrations by Class III - (8 October 2019)
“The greatness of a culture can be found in its festivals.”
Dussehra, the festival to mark the victory of good over evil was celebrated by St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School with a lot of religious zeal and fervour. The students of Class III enthralled the audience with their spectacular performance. They staged a musical enactment depicting scenes from the epic Ramayana. They showed the banishment of Rama from Ayodhya followed by his victory over Ravana. The Ramayan was followed by an act showing the emergence of Durga, the goddess of power and her killing the demon king Mahishasura. The parents were delighted to see their children perform and were glad that they learnt values which are the core of the Ramayana.
Durga Puja Celebrations - (4 October 2019)
Keeping up with the tradition of celebrating all the festivals with utmost zeal and enthusiasm, the school celebrated Durga Puja.
Goddess Durga is the embodiment of Shakti who overcome the evils of the world. The programme began with a Durga Vandana which enthralled the audience. The tiny tots of Seedling were informed about the divine celebration.
The occasion was graced by our Vice principal Ms. Sabina Shergill Ma'am.
May the nine avatars of Maa Durga bless everyone with qualities like power, happiness, humanity, peace, knowledge, devotion, name, fame and health.
Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations by Class II - (1 October 2019)

Keeping up with the tradition of celebrating all the festivals with utmost zeal and fervor, our fledglings of Class II presented a mesmerizing program to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The students enacted various incidents from our inspirational leader's life. The memories of Tolstoy Farm, Swadeshi Movement, Dandi March and Quit India Movement came alive when the students presented these historical eventswith great poise and finesse. Two choir groups sang melodious songs 'Raghupati Raghav’ and 'Bande Main Tha Dum'. A short poem was recited to spread the message of peace and brotherhood. The students paidhomage to Gandhiji, one of the pioneers of freedom struggle and exhibited the spirit of nationalism through a patriotic dance performance.
Grandparents Day of Class Sapling - (30 September 2019)
Grandparents are delightful blend of laughter, care, wonderful stories and love. What they do for their grandchildren, nobody else can do.
Their knowledge is invaluable and their love is unconditional. We, at SMGS invited grandparents to spend their valuable time with the toddlers.
They played many games, told different stories and some of them interacted with them and told them the importance of moral values. They shared some mesmerizing moments and relived their childhood with the grandchildren.
Children in return showed their love and respect towards their grandparents.
Grandparents sprinkle stardust over the lives of the little children.

On 9 September 2019, Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated in St. Mark’s Girls Senior Secondary School, Meera Bagh by the students of Classes I to IV. This programme was celebrated in honour of Lord Ganesha.
The occasion was graced by the presence of our founder Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, our chairperson Ms. Anjali Aggarwal, our principal Ms. Sheena Kalenga, parents and all the other members of the managing committee.
The programme started with the enlightment of the lamp. It was a wonderful commencement with the students enacting the stories of Lord Ganesha and doing beautiful dances. The dancers looked breathtakingly beautiful in their vibrant attires and they performed enthusiastically. All the dances captivating the audience throughout the event.
The finale performance was so much power packed that it enthralled the audience.
The celebration ended where everyone witnessed happiness and joy.
Ganesh Chaturthi celebration concluded by a speech thanking our guest for joining us for the programme and also thanking to the students and teachers for their hardwork and great performance.

Janmashtmi celebrated by Class I - (20 August 2019)
Krishna, avatar of Vishnu took birth on Janmashtami at midnight, the darkest hour, to fill our lives with divine light. To celebrate the auspicious birth of Krishna, students of Class I of St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec. School presented mesmerizing dance performances representing diverse 'Leelas' of Sri Krishna, depicting the importance of the occasion. With their laudable performances, they lighted up the stage and enthralled the audience. The celebration concluded with the distribution of 'Prasadam'.

Independence Day Celebrations by Sapling - (14 August 2019)
Gaiety and patriotic fervour marked the 73rd Independence Day Celebrations by the toddlers of SMGS. Today's celebration reminded us of the sacrifices of all those who gave up their lives for the freedom of India. Students sang some patriotic songs and enacted a skit that highlighted the importance of independence. Toddlers disguised themselves as various freedom fighters and shouted slogans on Freedom. Beautiful dance performances and speeches delivered by the children depicted the unity in diversity of the country. Our Cherubims enjoyed the celebrations with great thrill and vigour. At the end of the programme they sang the National Anthem.
Grandparents Day celebrated - (22 July 2019)
Grandparents are a family's greatest treasure, the founder of a loving legacy, the greatest storytellers, the keepers of the traditions. Through their special love and care, grandparents keep a family together. To make this bond more strong, 'Spend a day together' seasion was organised by our school in which the grandparents came and taught good morale to the children through stories and their experiences.

Mothers Day Celebrations by Seedling to Class IV - (10 May 2019)
Motherhood undoubtedly has the greatest potential of influencing human life. God created the epitome of love, compassion, warmth and sacrifice to provide human race with necessary respite and solace. To pay special tribute to the unfathomed love of this Godly creation, MOTHER'S DAY was celebrated in St. Marks Girls Sr. Sec. School; for classes Seedling to Class IV. The programmes for the day were a vibrant amalgamation of dance, music and creativity.
“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.“ Keeping this wonderful thought in mind by the great philosopher Plato, a karaoke competition was held for the mothers of students in class Seedling. The winners were as follows :
The mothers of children in Class Sapling participated in Rangoli making event. Rangoli is an ancient art and timeless tradition that is followed all over India. The word ‘Rangoli’ is said to have been derived from the words ‘rang’ and ‘aavalli’ which refers to a row of colours. The various colourful rangolis depicted the beautiful mother daughter relationship. The winners were as follows :

The stage came alive when the mother daughter duo of Class I staged spectacular dances in the competition. Their dances mesmerised the audience with their performances. The attractive costumes and fluid dance movements, made it very difficult for the judges to finalise the winners.

The International Worker's day, also called as Labour Day was celebrated at the school with full zeal. Students of Class I to IV carried out card making activity on account of this special day.
The cards depicted beautiful drawings of hearts, flowers and pictures of workers at the school like gardener and maids to express love and affection towards them.
Thereafter the cards were presented to all workers and thanking them for their support in student's safety and growth.

Heritage Day - (2019)
"A concerted effort to preserve our heritage is a vital link to our cultural, educational, aesthetic, inspirational and economic legacies - all of the things that quite literally make us who we are."
We at St. Marks Girls Sr. Sec. School observed the Heritage Day with great fervour and aplomb. Students of Classes VI-IX participated in various activities to get accustomed to the rich culture of our country. Students of Class VI celebrated by writing a Panchtantra Tale in the most artist manner, to relive their literary heritage. Class VII prepared Itineraries on a city of their choice. They chalked out a schedule how they would spend a day in that city. Class VIII created postcards on the various art forms of India. The creative postcards were displayed in the school corridors for spreading awareness among students. Class IX participated enthusiastically in comic Illustrations of Panchtantra stories. They revisited their heritage and relived the legacy of great writer Pt. Vishnu Sharma .With these activities an endeavour to rekindle our interests in the rich cultural heritage of our ancient country was achieved successfully.
Junior Annual Day Celebrations - (February 2019)
SMGS organised the much awaited annual function, Revive The Beat for students of Grade 1 to 5. The students performed with utmost grace and confidence on the unforgettable beats that have been rocking the audiences since 1960s. The students grooved rhythmically on super hits like ‘Jailhouse Rock’, ‘Rockabye’ ‘Born To be Alive’, Maria’, the evergreen Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat it’ and the little stars of Class 1 also performed beautifully as fairies, butterflies, chicks and dolls and many more exciting numbers. It was the most beautiful revival of the classic western music. The occasion was graced by the presence of our founder chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal and Chairperson Ms. Anjali Aggarwal and members of the managing committee. Our Chairperson Ms. Anjali Aggarwal applauded the industrious efforts made by all the students. Our Principal, Ms. Sheena Kalenga felicitated Mr. Anil Dixit, a parent of one of our students and completed the event with a vote of thanks.
Vasant Panchami Celebrations - (February 2019)
Vasant Panchami was celebrated in St Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School by the students of Classes VI-VIII. Shlokocharan and Kavita Paath was conducted as a part of the Pooja. The students enthusiastically participated and performed very well. They showcased their flair and dedication to attain perfection in recitation. Children enjoyed the beauty of expressions, feeling, rhyme, and music of words. The students kept the audience fascinated and captivated through their alluring Shlokas. Their performances were very impressive and worth appreciating. The winners were announced by the judges, Dr. Naveen Kandpal and Ms. Seema Dhingra.

Citation Ceremony - (31 January 2019)
St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec. School bid farewell to its outgoing batch - the Class of 2019 on 31 January 2019. The Citation Ceremony marked the release of this flock of birds with multi hued feathers into the vast world of competition, career and family life. The students of the outgoing batch and their parents shared their thoughts on the closure of the most important episode of their life- the school life. The school Principal Ms. Sheena Kalenga blessed the students and wished them luck in all their efforts. A short PPT on the journey of the outgoing batch in the school left everyone overwhelmed. The students of class XI gave a fitting farewell to their seniors through a medley of songs and dance. A river of vivid emotions and torrential memories gripped every student as they left the portals of their alma mater.
