The Man Who Knew Infinity - Ramanujan is remembered for his exceptional contribution in the field of mathematics. It is said that Mathematics is the gate and key of way of life. Even before one’s education commences, the number of fingers makes oneself enter into the world of mathematics. Nothing can be more apt than to remember this genius through the celebration of Mathematics Day. On this very day, to celebrate the spirit of mathematical learning, experience the joy of the mathematical sphere and to explore various mathematical concepts in a creative manner, our school organised various activities for Classes Seedling to 12. To enhance understanding and improve virtualization, a mirthful workshop for Class 5 on Understanding Venn Diagrams. Through an activity - Rangometry, students of Class 6 were introduced to geometrical shapes and types through rangoli making. Classes 7, 8 and 9 played online games, class 10 enjoyed a quiz. The department of Mathematics organized a webinar on "INFINITY: A New Realm of Possibilities" for Classes 11 and 12 by Dr. Shweta Gandhi, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Miranda House, Delhi University. Classes Seedling to 4 enjoyed various class activities like Sunshine addition, Robot operations and Fraction flowers.

To provide challenging experience and nurture the spirit of curiosity, a Subtraction Smash Activity was conducted for the students of grade 1. The little ones really enjoyed this hands-onactivity. A Bingo game was also played to make students think out of the box thereby improving their knowledge and learning. It was indeed a unique way of celebrating National Mathematics Day. |

Children’s day is celebrated on 14 November every year to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India, who was extremely fond of children. The tiny tots of Class Sapling celebrated this day with lots of fun activities like making Chacha Nehru’s favourite red rose from play dough. They also dressed up as Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru and spoke few lines on him. The day ended with the children dancing their heart out on various peppy numbers. |

Nov. 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day or Bal Diwas every year to mark the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. A day marking childhood was celebrated with fun and frolic at SMGS. The tiny tots of class Seedling came dressed up in casual clothes and enjoyed scavenger hunt activity.
Overall it was a fun packed day for the kids. |

It was a fun filled day for the students of Class 1 wherein the kids participated in a Role Play Activity. It was a treat for the eyes to watch the little ones dressed up as chefs, rock stars, directors, pilots and various other professions. It was a day which gave the students an opportunity to unleash their zest and have fun. |

Diwali is a festival of sheer joy, devotion, fervor, and indeed of dazzling lights and hangings. With all the alluring activities happening in the surroundings, students of Class 3 also indulged themselves in making door hangings for Diwali decorations. They used bright and colourful material to decorate and design the hangings.

Diwali is also known as Festival of Lights as it is traditional to light up your house with an impressive array of candles and small clay oil lamps. The online class wore a festive look wherein the tiny tots of Class I made beautiful and colourful diyas. As a part of celebration, the little ones were sensitised by showing a video about Eco Friendly Diwali.
It enlightened them with the true meaning of Diwali by promoting a sense of responsibility towards the environment. |

The students of Class Sapling heralded the Festival of Lights, by doing an array of activities. The celebrations began with a short explanation on Diwali festival which symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness and the new beginning.
Children were shown a short video and told the story of Lord Rama, how he returned to his kingdom from the exile of 14 years, with his wife, Sita and brother Laxman people were so delighted that they decorated the entire city with rows of lights. The concept of, “Say No to Crackers” was also explained with its disadvantages. Children were told to celebrate Diwali in an environment friendly manner.
In the activities they drew colourful rangoli patterns and made elegant diya stands using old discarded CDs. The activities instilled a feeling of achievement and pride in the students and also enabled them to create a masterpiece for them to decorate their homes.
The celebrations culminated with children having a virtual get together dressed up in Indian ethnic wear and dancing to songs like “mere tumhare sabke liye HAPPY DIWALI“. |

Diwali, the festival of lights is indeed the most awaited and celebrated festivals of India. People in every corner of the country welcome the festival with enthusiastic gestures. The festival of lights has now come alive, it is time to remove the darkness of ignorance within us and replace it with the light of hope and knowledge. To spearhead the celebrations, Class 5 students on 29th October during their classes, enthusiastically participated in the variety of activities like rangoli making, diya decoration, candle making, bandhanwar making, creating diwali cards for loved ones etc. The children painted diyas, made rangoli. They also decorated candles and diyas. The students thoroughly enjoyed with all their hearts. |

Rangoli is an art form originating in the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are created on the floor or a tabletop using materials such as powdered lime stone, dry rice flour, coloured sand, flower petals, glitters etc. It is an everyday practice in Hindu households, however the colours are preferred during festivals and other important celebrations as it is time consuming. Rangoli are usually made during Diwali or Tihar, Onam, Pongal, Sankranthi and other Hindu festivals in the Indian subcontinent, and are most often made during Diwali. Designs are passed from one generation to next. Keeping this Indian tradition alive, students of class 5 made beautiful rangolis with great zeal and enthusiasm. |

Diwali is a festival of lights and is celebrated all over the country. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. Therefore, to understand the importance of Diwali, our little munchkins of Class Seedling were dressed up in ethnic attire for Diwali Celebration. They made and decorated beautiful wall hanging with the help of mirrors, stones and glitters.

Halloween is celebrated every year on October 31, to mark the eve of the Christian feast of All Hallows' Day i.e. ‘Feast of All Saints’. This day is remarkably considered as the beginning of the winter period.
The students of Class IV performed a class activity online in which they made some spooky pen stands celebrating Halloween with full zest. The students ensured the use of empty containers and bottles to make a useful pen stand which will remind them of the Halloween’s significance.

Halloween - a spooky day filled with excitement, treats, and fun - is just around the corner, and there’s no better opportunity to get virtually creative.
Halloween has its roots in the ancient, pre-Christian Celtic festival of Samhain, which was celebrated on the night of October 31, wherein people lighted bornfire and wore costumes to ward off ghosts. So, Halloween was celebrated online this year. The students for Class 5 performed various activities. The plethora of activities included creating a Halloween corner, pumpkin craft, a candy wreath etc. This was done to mark the welcoming of good spirits and driving away of the bad spirits in their lives. The students showed their creativity and did all the activities with enthusiasm and excitement. |

The three monkeys stand for 'SEE no evil, HEAR no evil, and SPEAK no evil'. It is believed that Gandhi Ji owned a statue of the Three Wise Monkeys, a visual metaphor for his message of peace and tolerance. Even today, his life, values, and his expansive literary output have made a huge influence on people in our country and also around the world. Class 4 students used the day as an opportunity to make Gandhi Ji come alive by adding a modern twist to the Three Wise Monkeys. |

2 October has been celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti all over India but only few people are aware that Lal Bahadur Shastri was also born on 2 October 1904 at Mughal Sarai in Uttar Pradesh in India. He was an Indian statesman who served as the second Prime Minister of India. He promoted the White Revolution to increase the production and supply of milk by supporting the Amul milk co-operative of Anand, Gujarat and creating the National Dairy Development Board. He has a popular slogan-Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan as he used to say that soldiers and farmers are the backbones of India.
Little munchkins of Class Seedling showcased their love and respect towards Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji by saying few slogans and conveyed praiseworthy messages. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the activity and they had a fun packed day. |

International Day of Peace or World Peace Day is annually observed on September 21 to celebrate the world peace and especially the absence of outright war and violence. This year, more so than any other time in recent history, has shown us that discord among humans as a race can lead to disastrous consequences. This day is celebrated to highlight the fact that we are not each other’s enemies and that in order to successfully get through these troubling times, we need to be able to rely on one another. The students of class VIII of our school also celebrated the Peace Day by making videos on importance of Peace among people from different countries. It was a nice learning experience for our children to understand that "Peace lies above all". |

So the little fledglings of Seedling and Sapling, grabbed the opportunity of Ganesh Chaturthi, to give us an interesting insight into the various facets of Lord Ganesha’s life, by putting together a spectacular show on this auspicious occasion. Their enthralling and captivating performance and graceful dances, left the audiences spellbound and mesmerised. |

On this very special occasion of Teacher's Day, the students of the batch 2020-2021 compiled a video for their teachers, that beautifully summed up their sentiments for them. In the video, they all had something to say to them, and expressed their love and gratitude in the form of video messages. It was very heart-touching to listen to them, and their messages reminded us of the significance of a teacher in a student's life, and how she is a constant source of motivation and guidance for the student.

In one of the events, the event managers; Mahika Gupta, Shriya Gupta Gajal Baweja, of Class 12, hosted an interactive and fun game ‘Darin-n-Doin’ wherein the staff members enthusiastically participated in a spin-the-wheel challenge and marvellously performed the assigned tasks. The spontaneous performance by the teachers made it mutually enjoyable for both the attending parties. |

In this virtual world, a change is appreciated by all. So, this year St. Mark's Girls School decided to celebrate Teachers Day in a unique way to honour the contributions of our dear teachers. The students of Class II, dressed up beautifully in colourful ethnic attire, presented a mesmerising singing and dance show. It brought devotion, creativity, enjoyment and fun to the aura around. |

Janmashtami is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, one of the most powerful and famous reincarnations of Lord Vishnu. It is a festival that brings people together and spreads love and harmony. On this occasion, students of Class 1 were dressed in colourful ethnic costumes. A flameless cooking activity of ‘Laddoo Making’ was conducted wherein the little munchkins made coconut laddoos and had a lot of fun. They presented foot tapping dance performances also. |

The little devotees of Sapling celebrated Janmashtami will full fervor by dressing up and dancing on the enchanting songs of Krishna and decorating the earthen pots with a saintly heart. |

Lord Krishna was born on Janmashtami day in the month of Shravan at midnight. The day is celebrated all over India with many festivities by fasting and praying.
The festival was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm by our tiny tots of Class Seedling. They decorated colourful Mukuts (Headgear) using golden paper, ribbon, and glitter.
It was a memorable day for them as it bought devotion, creativity, enjoyment, and fun all together. |

Narali Purnima it is also known as Coconut Day. It is an important festival celebrated majorly by Hindus in the western coastal regions of India. It is observed on the Purnima in the month of Shravana. It holds special significance for the fishermen community. Keeping this in mind ,students of Class 5 showed their creativity by making coconut dishes, Power-Point presentations, drawings, posters, etc. Each one of them showed their innovativenes and creativity. It was a splendid session enjoyed by the students with great zeal and fervour. |

'Raksha Bandhan' or 'Rakhi' is a special occasion to celebrate the virtuous bond of love between a brother and a sister which is one of the deepest and noblest of all human emotions.
To commemorate the festival, a 'Thali Decoration Activity' was done by the little munchkins of Class 1. The children decorated beautiful thalis using decorative and waste material. Their artisanship was quite fascinating and children thoroughly enjoyed this activity that tickled their creative side. |

Goodwill towards everyone and eschewing violence are the motto of ‘Sadbhavana Diwas’. Shri. Rajiv Gandhi’s vision of making India a developed country is clearly seen by the number of economic and social works of the country. Keeping up with the tradition St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School celebrated this day by taking an oath to promote and practice peace, national integrity, love ,affection and communal harmony among the Indian people of all religions. |

World Photography Day brings together people who share a passion for photography and also raises awareness about this art form around the world.
A photograph has the ability to capture a place; an experience; an idea; a moment in time. For this reason, it's said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Photographs can convey a feeling faster than, and sometimes even more effectively than words can. A photograph can make the viewer see the world the way the photographer sees it.
Keeping this in mind . the students of Class 6 celebrated this day by looking deep into nature and capturing a few fantastic pictures and talking about them as to what made them capture that particular moment !!! They took part in this activity with great zeal and enthusiasm. |

When we look deeply into the reels of India's history, we get to see how our freedom fighters fought against foreign rule and envisioned rising India to be an independent nation. We should remember that being citizens of India, it is our prime responsibility to cherish and uphold the values of our nation.
In order to inspire the young generation with the ideas of nationalism, a video of famous 'Tryst with Destiny' speech was shown to Class X which was followed by a discussion on how far we have achieved the goals set by our great leaders. The students participated in the discussion very enthusiastically and shared their inputs for India to become a developed nation. |

Marking the freedom and glory of the nation, the students of Class 1 proudly celebrated it’s 75th Independence Day. Despite the celebrations being shifted to a virtual platform the spirits of the kids were held high. The students enjoyed making special Independence Day craft and created beautiful tricolour miniatures of soldiers. The little patriots enthusiastically sang songs of patriotism and also talked about the various national symbols intrinsic to the Indian identity and heritage. |

The young enthusiasts danced gracefully and sang melodious patriotic songs. It was an occasion to pay ode to our great freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to make India independent. |

The Indian Independence Day has been mentioned in the literary world by various renowned poets and writers like Rabindranath Tagore, Sarojini Naidu and others whose words still give us goosebumps. There are several poems on India’s spirit of nationalism that drives every Indian into a patriotic zone. These poems and stories account for the struggle that Indians went through for hundreds of years before finally being given the gift of independence.

The British colonisation of such treasure began in the 18th century. Their rule ended in 1947 after a non-violent freedom struggle. Since then, India has made vast strides in agriculture, science, technology and economy. As we celebrate our nation's 75th birthday, our students of Class IX have applauded the railways, which has played an important role in connecting us with the rich cultural heritage found in different cities of India. The students showcased the route map of the various elite luxury trains of India that take the tourists to explore the rich cultural heritage of India in the lap of luxury. |

August 15 marks the occasion of Independence Day in India. After almost two centuries under imperial rule and after countless sacrifices and struggles, Indians won their freedom on August 15, 1947. Keeping this in mind there was a T-shirt painting activity conducted for the students of Class 6. The students made beautiful tri coloured T-shirts, amalgamating saffron, white and green. They participated enthusiastically and energetically. It was a splendid session which gave a platform to all the students to learn and showcase their innovative skills. |

To continuously upkeep the feeling of patriotism and gratitude towards our freedom fighters, it is essential to discuss about their struggle to achieve Independence and to make the young mind understand the importance of it.
A quiz was organized on the topic – Indian Freedom Struggle for Classes 11 and 12. The students participated with enthusiasm and could answer most of the questions.

The father-daughter duos participated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the T-shirt designing event to decorate their t-shirts. The creativity and artistry of the parents were awe-inspiring. |

Fathers are real super heroes. They may not have superpowers, but they always have a super heart and a super spirit that puts the strength of Hulk and the intelligence of Iron Man to shame.
To strengthen the bonds of fatherhood on the occasion of Father's Day for students of Classes Seedling and Sapling participated in a fun-filled event virtually. A plethora of activities was organised, like T-shirt designing, in which fathers showcased their creativity by designing t-shirts for their little princesses. Fathers were enthralled to make beautiful jewellery for their daughters during the Jewellery designing activity. Fathers styled their daughter's hair like Rapunzel in the activity - Crazy Hair Do. The father-daughter duo sang melodiously in the Karaoke event. There was an overwhelming response from the parents as it was a wonderful way of unwinding from a stressful atmosphere by participating with their kids.
The participants prepared zealously to excel in their respective events. All the participants expressed themselves, their creativity, talent and unbridled imagination and brought alive their emotions by participating in delightful activities organised by the school. |

Mother’s Day was celebrated with an activity conducted forthe students of Class 3 and 4 wherein the children wrote beautiful messages to express their love and gratitude towards their beloved mothers. The young ones passionately participated in the activity. They got an opportunity to show their appreciation and respect for their mothers on this special day. |

Someone has rightly said, “Earth Day should encourage us to reflect on what we are doing to make our planet a more sustainable and liveable place.”
Keeping this thought in mind, cute fledglings of Class 2 made beautiful wall hangings and wrote some interesting ways to make our planet a better place to live in. It was a fun filled, hands-on activity which made them understand that our natural resources are limited and there’s a desperate need to spread awareness on how to use them judiciously. |

Each year, 22nd of April is celebrated as Earth Day. It is celebrated to create awareness about protecting our planet and preserving the environment. Although, only one special day is dedicated for this cause, it is the continuous effort of each individual, including children that would really make a difference. Like every year, students of St. Mark's Girls Sr. Secondary School, decided to take a pledge to make a lifestyle change that would impact not only those within the school but also the community outside of the school. Also, Kesholoy, the Eco Club of our school has taken an initiative to sensitise students about the necessity of conserving wetlands by a series of activities which included poster making for Classes VI to VIII and slogan writing for Classes IX-XII. The students enjoyed themselves a lot while doing the activities. |

The students of Classes 3 and 4 exhibited the same fervour during the online Baisakhi Celebration. They made beautiful greeting cards and colourful Punjabi hand fans called ‘Pakhi’. The enthusiasm was clearly visible in their vibrant depictions. The other junior classes were shown videos related to the festival and discussions were held with the objective of teaching the young students how this festival is important in a farmer’s life.

Holi is the time to express love with colours. The students of Class III also had a day full of colours and excitement as they celebrated the festival with great fun and vigour on the last day of the session. They exhibited their artistic skills through Blow Painting Activity and created interesting designs and used the colourful sheets for wrapping gift boxes. It was indeed a fun packed day for the students. |

St. Mark's Girls Sr. Sec. School bid farewell to its outgoing batch - the Class of 2021 on 18 and 19 March 2021. The Citation Ceremony marked the transition of young enthusiastic girls from their safe haven into the vast world of competition, career and family life. The students of the outgoing batch and their parents shared their thoughts on the closure of the most important episode of their life- the school life. The school Principal Ms. Sheena Kalenga and Vice Principal Ms. Sabina Shergill blessed the students and wished them luck in all their efforts. A short video on the journey of the outgoing batch in the school left everyone overwhelmed. A river of vivid emotions and torrential memories gripped every student as they left the portals of their alma mater. |

Maha Shivratri or the ‘The Night of Shiva‘ is celebrated throughout the country, with great devotion and religious fervour.
There are many mythological stories associated with the celebration of Mahashivratri in India. The fledglings of Class Seedling & Sapling also celebrated this festival with verve and jubilance. The powers and role of Lord Shiva were highlighted through various dances and drama. Everyone was left spellbound with the graceful dances and stellar performances by the children. |

Since the chilling air of winter has changed into soothing cold breeze, here comes the spring season known as Basant or Vasant in India, one of the six Indian seasons.
SMGS celebrated the day to worship Goddess Saraswati, the symbol of knowledge and wisdom. Because of its strong significance in Hindu mythology, Vasant Panchami is one of the most important festivals in India.
To mark the occasion, students of Class 5 made beautiful drawings showcasing their creative side. Their bright and colourful drawings filled the air with a festive mood. |

The Delhi Republic Day parade is the largest and most important of the parades marking the Republic Day celebrations in India. The parade takes place every year on 26 January at Rajpath, New Delhi. It is the main attraction of India's Republic Day celebrations. It showcases India's Defence Capability and Cultural and Social Heritage of the different states in the form of tableaus. The students of Class IV tried to replicate these tableaus through 3D Corners made by them. Let's have a look. |

Lohri is the festival which ushers in the joyous spring and bids adieu to the hard winter. It is the harvest festival of Punjab. The tiny tots of Class Seedling and Sapling were told about the significance of this festival during the online classes. They all enthusiastically made bonfire out of paper craft and they also danced and had a great time. |
