Words make you think, music makes you feel and a song makes you feel a thought.
We celebrated our Annual Function – ‘Yaadon Ka Safar’ on 30 December 2022, which was a heartfelt tribute to legendary singers who have enriched our life since time immemorial. We have every reason to be grateful that we are born in the era of the Queen of Music- Lata Mangeshkar, the gleaming King of Disco- Bappi Lahiri and the soothing icon of the youth - Krishna Kumar Kunnath aka KK. They have left for their heavenly abode, yet their voices give us strength when we feel low, resonate in our hearts when our words fail us and reverberate in our celebrations in each phase of life.
The curtain to our musical extravaganza opened with the unravelling of a scroll by our school’s Founder Chairman T. P. Aggarwal Sir and ourschool’s Chairperson Anjali Aggarwal Ma’am that revealed the title of our event- ‘Yaadon Ka Safar'. The lighting of the lamp by our Founder Chairman andour Chairperson was followed by the harmonious rhapsody of the students of the Akhil Bhartiya Netrahin Sangh,Raghubir Nagar – an institution that works for the welfare of the blind and is supported by our young Samaritans in their own small yet profound way. The superb choir mesmerised the audience with their mellifluous voices.
Behind every favourite song, there is an untold story. Lata Mangeshkar’s life was depicted through a dance drama intercepted by outstanding and spell binding dance performances to songs such as- ‘Mai Chali Mai Chali’ and 'Naam Gum Jaayega’. The musical journey of Lata Mangeshkar has been so vast as well as profound that her famed songs span from the black and white period hits like ‘Aplam Chaplam’ to the pop culture hits of the 90s like ‘Jiya Jale''. Elegant and graceful St. Markians wearing bewitching attires were seen swirling in style to evergreen songs such as ‘Panchi Banu Udati Phiroon’ and ‘Uii Maa Uii Maa’. Cult favourites like 'Morni Baga Mein Boley' and ‘Hothon Mein Aisee Baat’ made it difficult for the audience comprising of jubilant and proud parents to remain fixed in their seats.
The loss of the youth icon - KK was a huge and jolting setback for the Indian music fraternity and he was remembered at our event through his songs ‘Khudaa Jaane’ and ‘Das Bahane’ which had the audience on their feet. The infectious energy of Bappi Da was evident when young students came out grooving and gyrating to hits such as‘Pag Ghungroo Bandh'and ‘Disco Station’. Spirited performances on songs such as ‘Tamma Tamma’ and ' Rambaa Ho Ho’ set the stage on fire. Each performance was a spectacle worth watching for the sheer joy and energy it radiated.
The sparkling event culminated with the address of Anjali Aggarwal Ma’am, our school’s Chairperson who appreciated the participants for the commendable show. Ms Sheena Kalenga, our school’s Principal thanked one and all for their benign presence and overwhelming support which made our Annual Function a grand success that shall keep the St Mark’s family smiling through this holiday season right into the new year for it will help us remember to - ‘Let life lightly dance on the edges of Time like dew on the tip of a leaf.’
Christmas Celebrations by the munchkins of Classes Seedling and II - (19 December 2022)
“Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing, but of reflection.”
The month of December brings a lot of warmth, hope and good tidings. To spread the message of love and good cheer Christmas was celebrated with the same fervour at SMWS by the munchkins of Classes Seedling and II.
As it is rightly said, Christmas is for joy, giving, sharing, laughter and getting together with family and friends.
The school wore a festive look with bells, streamers, balloons and beautifully decorated Christmas trees. Children came in beautiful party dresses and enjoyed by dancing to the joyful tunes and sang melodious foot tapping carols. A Magic show and many fun filled games for children were organised like - passing the parcel, musical chairs, run to the symbol and many more. Last but not the least, the essence of Christmas came alive when Santa Claus moved around distributing candies and gifts to children.
Indeed, it was a memorable celebration.
Human Rights Day - (10 December 2022)
“It is absolutely clear that we need to regain the universality of human rights, the indivisibility of human rights, and we need to find a new energy that motivates young people around the world.” - Volker Turk, UN HIGH Commissioner for Human Rights.
Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10 December: the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This year’s slogan for Human Rights Day is “DIGNITY, Freedom, and Justice for All.”
The students of Class IX were made aware of the importance of this day and they took part in the activity conducted in their classrooms on 8 December 2022 to either compose a poem or write a small speech of their own on the current slogan for Human Rights. The students enthusiastically penned down their emotions propagating how imperative it is to understand our rights. A few students delivered some famous speeches by Human Rights Activists such as Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr. The students of Class IX put up a laudable and exemplary work.
Armed Forces Flag Day - (7 December 2022)
"You have never lived until
You have almost died
And for those who choose to fight
Life has a special flavor
The protected will never know."
Armed Forces Flag Day is observed on 7 December to honor the martyrs and the valiant men in uniform. Showing their reverence to the real heroes, the students were engaged in an activity. The students, working in groups, acquainted their friends about the different regiments of the armed forces and explained the motto and slogan of that particular regiment. Every student was filled with a feeling of patriotism and saluted our valiant soldiers.
Indian Navy Day Celebrations - (4 December 2022)
A country can be free if it has men guarding it with love for their nation in their hearts.
To mark the Indian Navy Day, students of Class 5 were shown a video about our Navy personnel’s and how they are trained to serve the nation fearlessly and selflessly. A group discussion on the same was held after they watched the video. Students saluted these courageous warriors who stand strong to keep us safe. They were filled with a sense of patriotism and were inspired to see the dedication and bravery of these men in white.
World Conservation Day - (3 December 2022)
The World Conservation Day is celebrated every year on December 3rd to protect the environment, wildlife and limited natural resources. The main motto is to create awareness and urge the importance of environment and wildlife. This day reminds us to protect natural resources.
We all depend on natural resources like water, air, soil, minerals, trees, animals, food, and gas to live our daily lives. To keep the balance in the natural world, we must also help various species to continue to exist.
In our endeavour to create responsible citizens, we also observed World Conservation Day in our school by showing a documentary on 'Endangered Species' to the students of Class 8. They realised the importance of protecting our precious wildlife by designing a bookmark featuring an endangered species and a message for protection of the rare animals . Here are few glimpses of the activity.
Children’s Day Celebrations for Classes 3 and 4 - (15 November 2022)
“Children are the best creation of God, they spread joy in every season.”
India celebrates Children's Day on November 14 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He was known for his affection for kids. He once said, "The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country." To make this event memorable for our little ones,the teachers made Children’s Day special for the students of Classes III and IV by involving them in various games like number game using tambola, know your partner with snakes and ladders game. The students were overwhelmed and enjoyed the day.
Children’s Day Celebrations for Classes Seedling and Sapling - (14 November 2022)
"There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million." - Walt Streightiff.
November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day in India and to make this day a special one, St. Mark’s World School celebrated Children’s Day in the school premises.
The day commemorated with immense joy, enthusiasm and magnificence. The tiny tots of Class Seedling and Sapling came dressed up in casual clothes. To make this event memorable for our little ones, teachers of class Seedling and Sapling gave some wonderful dance performances on peppy songs. All the tiny tots were overwhelmed with joy. The day ended on a memorable note with children feeling special as they went home taking beautiful incentives in their hands.
Constitution Day Celebrations - (26 November 2022)
“Constitution is not a mere lawyers document, it is a vehicle of life and it’s spirit is always the spirit of age” - Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Constitution Day or Samvidhan Divas is celebrated on 26th of November to honour and remember the father of Constitution, Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar ,the architect of the Indian Constitution. It is a landmark day for India. On this day in 1949, the Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly and on January 26, 1950, it came into force. Keeping this in mind, students of Class V where shown a video on The Constitution Day and a group discussion was done . Students interacted with great zeal and enthusiasm. It was a splendid session which gave a platform to enhance students’ knowledge related to the Indian Constitution.
National Unity Day - (31 October 2022)
“Manpower without unity is not a strength unless it is harmonized and united properly, then it becomes a spiritual power” - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Students of Classes 5 to 8 enthusiastically participated in “Unity Day Festival”. The day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel who had a major role in the political integration of India. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel merged various states into the Indian Union at the time of independence.
Several activities were conducted to celebrate the National Unity day. The students actively participated in Unity Run, took Unity pledge and also a digital exhibition was shown to them. The aim of these activities was to make the students aware that India is a country of Unity in Diversity. The students enhanced their creativity by making attractive and striking posters, placards and took a pledge. They participated in these activities with great zest and zeal. It gave them an opportunity to understand the political integration of India.
UN Day Celebrations - (24 October 2022)
“The United Nations is like a spade; it is not self-operating. It is what we make of it, for purposes that we can find in common with our neighbours in the world.” - Adlai Stevenson.
The United Nations has been a global organization working for international peace aiming to bridge the gap among widely diverse nations and bind them into a union. In order to celebrate its grandeur and successful journey, students of Class V made a Lap book of various agencies of The United Nations and also spoke on their favourite organs / agencies of The United Nations with the help of a placard which was done using UN symbols and flags of UN member countries. The activity was a great opportunity for the students to showcase their innovative and creative ideas. Students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The activity sensitized the students to understand the UN and its member countries. It was a splendid session which gave a platform to all the students to enhance their creativity and imaginativeness.
World Food Day - (16 October 2022)
We, at St. Mark’s World School, celebrated World Food Day by conducting different activities among different sections of Class 7. Students designed attractive posters depicting cuisines of the world which made them aware of the diversity present in the world and how the world connects through different varieties of food. Students also prepared posters depicting bento box which is an all-in-one Japanese lunch box containing a single portion of a balanced meal.
Some students also made the bento box in real by adding different food items. Through this activity, students learnt something new and also understood the importance of a balanced diet. Students also drew out a comparison between healthy food and junk food which made them more aware about the necessity of consuming healthy food and the ill effects of junk food. Lastly, students drew a food pyramid which would help them remember which food items are healthier and should be consumed more and which ones should be consumed in a moderate quantity. Thus, different aspects related to food were covered while celebrating World Food Day which definitely enhanced the awareness and knowledge of students in an interesting manner.
International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction - (13 October 2022)

13th October is celebrated as the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction every year to help raise awareness about the importance of reining in the risks faced by communities around the world and reduce their exposure to disasters, both natural and man-made. It is also an opportunity to acknowledge the progress being made toward preventing and reducing disaster risk and losses in lives, livelihoods, economies and basic infrastructure through advance and early action.
Students of St. Marks World School were made aware of the significance of the day through a series of activities on the eve of the occasion. Raising an alarm for emergency evacuation, hiding under sturdy surfaces with alertness and coordination are some of the measures students were trained in. Taking a proactive approach to risk mitigation, mock drills were organised to ensure and bolster disaster preparedness. We too hope that our actions today will help us stay secure and unruffled in the face of future disasters.
World Post Day Celebrations for Class 2 - (9 October 2022)
Today, world has become a global village. Communication and information technology plays a crucial role in bringing the world close together. The early means of communication was the postal service.
The students of Grade II celebrated the World Postal Day by writing messages to their friends on post cards. The aim of celebrating World Post Day was to create awareness of the role of postal sector and it’s contribution to the social and economic development of countries. It was a learning experience and a pleasurable day for the children.
Dussehra Celebrations and Activity - (5 October 2022)
Celebrating festivals is a great way to inculcate values in the young minds and teaching them about India’s rich, cultural heritage. The tiny tots of St. Marks World School ushered in the festive season with a joyful celebration of ‘Dussehra’ festival.
The celebrations began with the class teachers conducting various interesting interactive discussions highlighting the significance of Dussehra. To make Dussehra celebrations more fun filled and different, the teachers of Class Sapling presented a Ramayana skit for the kids, the skit conveyed the message of victory of Lord Rama over Ravana and reinforced the message that good always triumphs over evil.
The impressionable buds had a fun filled and learning laden exposure to the festival and learnt that the festival inspires us to look inwards and helps us become better versions of ourselves.
Durga Puja Celebrations for Class 3 - (3 October 2022)
Durga puja is one of the most celebrated festivals across India. It begins on the 6th day of Navratri and is celebrated till Dussehra. Primarily celebrated amongst Bengalis, the festival is all about families coming together and participating in auspicious pujas, rituals and cultural programs. Students of Class 3 celebrated this festival by making face of Durga maa wall hanging using paper plates and decorative material.
Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations - (2 October 2022)
"By Education I mean an all round drawing best in child and man in body, mind and spirit." - Mahatma Gandhi.
According to Gandhi Ji, "Real education means drawing the best out of yourself." Keeping this thought forward, our school organized various activities for the students of Classes Seedling to IV. The tiny tots of Classes Seedling to 1 showcased their creativity by participating in an Art Event wherein they made beautiful posters on Clean School with informative slogans. Our little munchkins of Class 2 showcased their talent by speaking about different freedom movements initiated by Gandhi Ji. The children enjoyed this knowledgeable activity. The little ones of Class 3 made beautiful crafts using waste material. They engrossed themselves in making best out of waste. The activities were conducted with great zeal and students enjoyed doing it.
Grandparents Day Celebrations for Class Seedling and Sapling - (11 September 2022)
“A grandparent is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and a little bit best friend.”
Grandparents are blessings from God who are irreplaceable. They are angels in disguise who are always looking over their kids and grandkids.
On the occasion of Grandparents Day, the grandparents of Seedling and Sapling were invited to perform various activities like Story Telling, Singing a song , Grooving to peppy beats, Bhajan chanting, Fun filled games, etc. with the enthusiastic tiny tots.
They created sweet memories and truly cherished each moment of their childhood with the young ones.
Teacher’s Day Celebrations - (5 September 2022)
“A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge and wisdom in the pupils.”
Teacher’s Day seeks to celebrate this unparallel contribution made by teachers in the life of their students.
St. Mark’s World School celebrated Teacher’s Day on 5th September with pomp and grandeur. The fun-filled day included various games and activities like Antakshari, Tambola etc. for the teachers where they took a break from their teaching schedule and indulged in a whole range of leisure pursuit. The day was concluded by some entertaining performances by the teachers.
Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations by Classes 3 and 4 - (31 August 2022)
Ganesh Chaturthi is an auspicious Hindu festival which is celebrated with great devotion and joy by Hindus throughout the world for 10 days every year. It marks the birthday of the beloved elephant-headed Lord Ganesha.
Students of Class III and IV celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi. The celebrations began with a phenomenal dance performance by the blooming dancers.The graceful expressions given by the tiny tots on the devotional songs were really breathtaking and won the hearts of the audience.
There was devotion, creativity and fun altogether.
International Day of Democracy - (30 August 2022)
“Democracy is the government of the people, for the people, by the people.” - Abraham Lincoln.
As the above saying goes, it shows how Democracy is the finest form of government as people play an important role in choosing their government.
To commemorate the greatness of democracy, We, at St. Mark’s World School, celebrated International Day of Democracy so that students get an idea about elections as an important element of democracy, especially when India is the largest democracy.
For this, students of Class 7 took part in mock elections where two candidates were selected by the class teacher who delivered a speech as to what all they promise to do for the class if elected to power. For this, the candidates also chose an election symbol. After listening to the speech, the students voted for the candidates as per their preference. They put their votes in the Ballot box and later, the winner was chosen by counting all the votes.
This way students got an idea about how elections are held and what all they should see in a candidate while deciding to vote. This contributed to teaching students about decision making and critical thinking which will help develop scientific temper in them, thus creating well aware and wise citizens.
Women's Equality Day - (26 August 2022)
“There is nothing a man can do and a woman cannot.“
With the above quote in mind, We, at St. Mark’s World School celebrated Women’s Equality Day to honor the role of women in the world and to encourage their equality in all spheres of life.
This was done by conducting an activity with students of Class 7 related to Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) which talks about gender equality and is fifth of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations in 2015.
SDG 5 has nine targets and 14 indicators. Some of its targets are: ending all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere; ending violence and exploitation of women and girls; eliminating harmful practices such as child marriage; increasing value of unpaid care and promoting shared domestic responsibilities; ensuring full participation of women in leadership and decision-making; and ensuring access to universal reproductive rights and health.
The students prepared posters related to SDG 5 which made them more aware of such Sustainable Development Goals, made them more sensitized towards women’s equality and filled in them the enthusiasm to take initiatives to work for the empowerment of women in future.
World Humanitarian Day and World Photography Day - (19 August 2022)
To mark the occasion of World Humanitarian Day and World Photography Day on 19 Aug 2022, our school organised a few activities for grade 11. Students enthusiastically participated in activities like creating a poster on their own Humanitarian Hero and a collage depicting their lockdown memories through their lens. They gathered a lot of information on the Humanitarian Heroes who have contributed to the field of mankind.
The beautiful collages expressed their feelings and emotions while connecting to their memories.
Janmashtmi Celebrations - (17 August 2022)
"Do everything you have to do, but not with greed, not with ego, not with lust, not with envy, but with love, compassion, humility and devotion." - Lord Krishna in Bhagwat Gita.
'KRISHNA KATHA' was presented by sheer hard work of the students of Grades I and II, wherein major life events of Lord Krishna were depicted with immense creativity across genres of music, dance and drama. Our very young and talented students showcased this Dance Drama in full bloom and scaling new heights. Kudos to the entire team for such a wonderful presentation of Lord Krishna's life events, principles and teachings.

Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav - (15 August 2022)
‘True freedom lies within us. One must always stand for what they believe is right.’
Freedom is the most precious thing in every human’s life. On the occasion of 75th 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, St. Mark’s World School invited the parents of Seedling and Sapling to take part in various activities like Designing a kite, Antakshri, Tshirt painting and Ramp Walk.
The zealous and enthusiastic parents along with the little munchkins showed active participation and took pride in being independent. They created beautiful designs and patterns on the kite, sang various patriotic songs melodiously, creatively painted their Tshirts and rocked the ramp wearing the traditional state outfits. They portrayed their creative skills,artistic abilities and confidence through their performances and piece of work. The parent-child duos thoroughly enjoyed themselves and won everyone's hearts.

Independence Day Celebrations - (15 August 2022)
Freedom in mind, faith in our heart, memories in our souls. Let's salute the nation on its 76th Independence Day! Independence Day is celebrated every year on 15th August with utmost fervourand a spirit of patriotism to mark the innumerable sacrifices of the freedom fighters of India and the fact that we are living in free India.
To mark the special occasion, on this beautiful day, our Founder Chairperson, Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, our Chairperson Ms. Anjali Aggarwal, our Director, Mr. Rahul Aggarwal and our Principal Ms. Sheena Kalenga unfurled the National Flag in the school premise. It was followed by everyone singing the National Anthem.
A speech on the importance of Independence Day was presented by Shivanya of Class 11. It was followed by a dance performance by the students of Class 9 and melodious songs sung by the students of Classes 9 and 10.
Funds collected for SOS Children’s Village was given to Ms. Sarah Berry (Head - Communications) SOS Children’s Village by our Founder Chairperson Mr. T. P. Aggarwal.
Ms. Anjali Agarwal addressed the students and evoked a sense of patriotism and pride in being Indian.
Freedom is hard to get but we are blessed to have it. Let's appreciate what we have and celebrate the great miracle of freedom. Happy Independence Day!
International Youth Day - (12 August 2022)

12 August , International Youth Day is a day that gives us chance to slow down and take a second to acknowledge and appreciate the young lives around us. St. Mark's World School planned a Youth Service Bingo for Class XII where students marked the things they have done for their community and shared their experiences how they love to serve their elders, evironment, disadvantaged groups, young children and old people. They also collected donations from different classes under the initiative 'Ek muthi Anaj' and donated it to an Old age home near the school's vicinity.
International Tiger Day Celebrations - (29 July 2022)
“Don’t strip the stripes from the scenery: Save the Tiger.”
International Tiger Day is celebrated every year on July 29 as a way to raise awareness about this magnificent but endangered big cat which plays a vital role in maintaining the health and diversity of our ecosystem. So to spread awareness on tiger conservation, various activities were conducted wherein munchkins of Seedling, Sapling and Class 1 showcased their creativity by making colourful tiger wristbands, face masks and bookmarks. They also learnt the importance to save our national animal.
Pi Approximation Day by Class VIII - (22 July 2022)
July 22 is Pi Approximation Day, it is also known as Casual Pi Day. The day is dedicated to the mathematical constant Pi (π). Every year the day is celebrated on July 22 as the value of Pi is denoted by the fraction 22/7 where the numerator 22 symbolizes the date and denominator 7 indicates the month (July). Pi denotes the relationship between a circle’s circumference and its diameter. One of the most widely recognized mathematical constant, π, is an irrational number, the digits of which repeat in a random fashion and are never ending.
To mark this day, the students of Class 8 designed colourful Pi wind chimes. It was a fun-filled learning experience for students which helped them to develop a sense of appreciation for the astonishing Pi (π).
World Chess Day - (20 July 2022)
“Chess is the gymnasium of the mind.” - Blaise Pascal.
The United Nations recognizes that sports, the arts and physical activity have the power to change perceptions, prejudices and behaviours, as well as to inspire people, break down racial and political barriers, combat discrimination and defuse conflict, and therefore contribute in promoting education, sustainable development, peace, cooperation, solidarity, social inclusion and health at the local, regional and international levels.
We celebrate International Chess Day on July 20, a day that was born from an idea the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) had. Chess lovers around the world celebrate their favorite game on this day each year, in a tradition spanning more than 50 years.
This year, our students of Class XI resolved to honour this game of wit and strategy by enjoying a session of Chess with their friends in class. The preliminary session of chess was followed by an Inter Class Chess Championship that provided the students with an opportunity to showcase their skills at the game which is a combination of sport and scientific thinking. Students were also shown a video about the history of the game which was followed by documentary of Vishwanathan Anand - the legendary chess player from India.

Bastille Day is a common name given in English speaking countries to the National day of France, which is celebrated on 14 July each year. In French, it is formally called la fête Nationale française or le 14 juillet.
It is the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille - a military prison.
Celebrations are held on Champs - Élysées in Paris in front of the President of the Republic.
In order to make our students realize it’s significance, various activities were organized for them. Students of Class 6 indulged in a role play which helped them in building self confidence and improving their French pronunciation. Whereas, students of Class 7 competed in high spirits and showed their keenness to learn new things by participating in a crossword puzzle and quiz based on culture and civilization of France. The students of Classes 8 and 9 enjoyed watching a popular French movie ‘Le Petit Nicolas’.
International Yoga Day Celebrations - (21 June 2022)
The more it is said about the benefits of Yoga, the less it is. Yoga opens the mind, body and soul and offers a positive perspective to life. Following in the footsteps of our honourable Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, our school too kept the spirit of International Yoga Day alive and celebrated it with a peaceful and calming yoga session.
International Yoga Day, celebrated on 21st June every year, is an endeavour to inculcate the practice in our daily routine to smoothen out the stressors of a fast paced life.
Father`s Day Celebrations - (19 June 2022)

Father’s Day is a celebration honouring fathers and celebrating fatherhood. The students of Class Seedling enjoyed the jewellery making activity with their fathers whereas children from Class Sapling showed their creativity in T-shirt designing. Class I fathers and daughters taught us how to stay fit by doing Aerobics and in Class II kids became the Fruit Ninja's! The dynamic event concluded by fathers expressing their feelings on the occasion. It was a memorable event which the fathers and children will cherish for their lifetime.
International Tea Day - (21 May 2022)
Step aside, Cocoa, coffee and Coca Cola, for International Tea Day for we drink the most popular beverage in the world! The International Tea Day mainly seeks to raise awareness on the impact the tea trade has on farmers and workers but is also celebrated by tea lovers worldwide. Tea has been mostly used for medicinal purposes until the 17th century when tea made its way to the United Kingdom. The main types include black, green, white, herbal, oolong, and pu’erh.
Tea beverage is prepared by pouring boiling water over processed tea leaves. Tea is valued for its taste, aroma, health benefits, and form part of some cultural practices. Through the ages, tea consumption was associated with beneficial effects on human health. Most of the health-promoting effects of tea are attributed to its antioxidant activity.
Tea is the second main beverage after water, to be consumed in many countries including China, India, Morocco, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Britain, Myanmar, Indonesia, Uganda and the list is endless. Many enterprises have also emerged in the recent years and brought back the value of "sitting together and enjoying a cup of tea" in almost every country with their indigenous and countless flavours.
Thus, to mark this interesting day, Class 10 of St. Mark's World School, had a "tea party" where they worked in groups and presented many facts and interesting indigenous stories related to the countries stated above regarding the origin of tea, exploring the colonial beginning of tea plantation to becoming the tea traders themselves, modern day enterprises related to tea but also a dilemma preference of tea v/s coffee because, after all, tea might not be "everyone's cup of tea".
World Telecommunication Day - (17 May 2022)
Communication is one of the most important factors in our lives, and World Telecommunications Day celebrates this constant evolution. World Telecommunications Day celebrated every year on 17 May (WTD) is aimed at showcasing the importance of communication and how information travels across continents. In addition to increasing awareness of the vital role communication plays in our lives, it also aims to promote the development of technology in this field.
It is celebrated annually to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.
This year’s theme ‘Digital technologies for older persons and healthy ageing’ raises awareness of the important role of telecommunications in supporting people to stay healthy, connected and independent – physically, emotionally and financially.
Keeping the theme in mind, the students of Class 9 of St. Mark’s World School, presented skits to foster initiatives to accelerate digital technologies for older persons and healthy ageing. The skits were based on various topics such as: how to dial emergency numbers, give voice commands, order weekly shop at doorstep (Like Zepto), order medicines, video chat with friends and family, play games with friends, how to use Youtube, etc. The aesthetically presented skits were informative and entertaining.
International Day of living together in Peace for Class 12 - (16 May 2022)
The International Day of living together with Peace is celebrated on 16th May. In regard of the same, Class XII engaged in an introspective activity - “Picturing my own Peace”. The objective of the activity was to make them understand their own meaning of Peace, different from the general meaning associated with this word, that is, absence of war and unity.
The students were able to reflect onto their lives and understand Peace with a closer eye by using varied Expressive Art forms. For some, it is listening to music, sitting patiently with friends and family and enjoying a pizza, on the other hand for some it’s even offering prayers to god or just spending time with themselves for better self-acceptance.
This was an enriching activity that also helped the students respect individual differences.
International Family day for Class 3 - (15 May 2022)
“Family is not just a bunch of people who are related to you. A family is a group of people you choose to be by your side no matter what. You choose them to be with you for the rest of your life. And this is the most precious gift of God.”
Family is not an important thing; it is everything. International Family Day is observed every year on 15 May to recognize the importance of families. On this special occasion, students of Class III made photo frames using colourful straws. This activity helped to revive and rekindle the importance of love and affection among the members of a family.
Technology Day - (11 May 2022)
The World Technology Day is celebrated on 11 May 2022. On the occasion of this day, Class XII students worked in groups to create various projects based on different branches of the Tech world. It was a great learning experience for everyone. The students were divided into 7 groups consisting 4-6 students. Some of the topics raised by the students were A.I. & education, cyber security, OTT platforms, Metaverse, Alexa development, 5G Technology and Augmented reality. These helped students to learn more about the technology world and the different aspects of it.
It gave the students a chance to combine their logical and creative sides and showcase them freely. Everyone inculcated their cooperative skills to collaborate and create something productive as well as informative as a team. The given topics were showcased in different ways including Powerpoint presentations, movies, comic strips, etc. These activities provided a creative outlook for the students.
Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti - (9 May 2022)
Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti is a cultural celebration to mark the birth anniversary of the luminary Nobel Peace Prize laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Rabindranath Tagore did not just change the map of Bengali literature but also the linchpin of the Indian freedom struggle through his music and poems. St. Mark’s World School celebrated Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti on 9 May. The students of Classes III and VI paid tribute to the most loved and influential poet on his 162nd birth anniversary with their beautiful classical dance performance.
Mother's Day for Classes Seedling to 2 - (8 May 2022)
“Mothers love – a brilliant GEM to be treasured.”
Mother’s day is a special day, for all children and mothers, as, it celebrates the bond of love and affection that is everlasting. Mothers are the emotional backbone of the family, who have the magic touch to heal all wounds and make all things beautiful.
To celebrate the special bond of the mother and the child St. Mark's World School organized an online event for the mothers of Classes Seedling to 2, where they participated enthusiastically along with their little ones.
A plethora of exciting and fun filled activities were organized for the participants like Flameless Cooking, Antakshari, Jewellery Making, Rangoli etc.
It was a pleasure watching the super excited moms with their dynamic and energetic children during these activities.
The day ended with all mothers and children, enjoying themselves and taking back fond memories of a day well spent.

Mother is the one who is probably endowed with all powers. She can manage and control everything in any situation. Celebrating Mother's Day for a day is not enough to thank every single mother in this world. This day that recognizes the essence of motherhood, their selfless care and love, was celebrated virtually, with fun filled activities, especially planned for all the very talented power-packed mothers. Antakshri for Class Seedling and Flameless Cooking for Sapling were truly enjoyed by the little munchkins and their mothers.
World Thalassemia Day - (8 May 2022)
World Thalassemia Day is celebrated every year on 8th of May. It was established in 1994 by the Thalassaemia International Federation, in loving memory of George, the son of TIF’s President and Founder, Mr. Panos. It is devoted to raising awareness amongst the general public about thalassaemia, and helping the global thalassemia community to connect and call for changes towards the improvement of patients’ lives and well-being.
Thalassemia is an inherited genetic blood disorder in which the body makes an abnormal form or inadequate amount of haemoglobin, the pigment present in our red blood cells.
The Class XII Science students of our school observed this day with great enthusiasm in which they were first shown an informative videoshowcasing the basic details of the disorder. The video was followed by a fun and interactive game of “Truth or Myth” in which a group of students presented a few open-ended statements associated with the disorder to the other students who were required to guess whether the statements presented to them were true or false followed by a detailed discussion and explanation.
All the students not only enjoyed but also learnt a number of things about this genetic disorder, thereby helping them to come together to create a stronger and united voice for addressing such health inequalities and also safeguarding the rights of the global thalassaemia community on this World Thalassemia Day.
World Astronomy Day for Class 6 - (7 May 2022)
‘Earth is a small town with many neighborhoods in a very big universe.’
May 7th is celebrated as the ‘World Astronomy Day’ throughout the world. The students of Class 6 of St. Mark’s World School performed an interesting activity, ‘My Favourite Constellation’ wherein they chose and drew their most favourite constellation. Also, they spoke about it expressing the reason for choosing that constellation as their favourite. The activity gave the students an opportunity to express themselves creatively. It was a fun-filled learning experience for the students.
International Dance Day celebrated by Classes 1 to 4 - (29 April 2022)
Dance is an art which helps in expressing the emotion of life and relaxes the mind, body and soul. International dance day is celebrated every year on April 29 throughout the world to pay tribute to this distinctive form of performing arts.
SMWS Celebrated the day with great zeal and fervour with students of Classes 1 to 4. The little ones enjoyed a foot tapping dance session and children delightfully put their best foot forward and made everyone smile through their expressions.
World Dance Day 2022 - (29 April 2022)
It's rightly said that Dance is the hidden language of the soul. As the soul connects through dance in an instant, the importance of various dance forms over the world is overwhelming. In 1982, 29 April was declared as World Dance Day by the International Dance Committee of UNESCO to increase awareness about the importance of dance among general public. The day was marked by the students of Classes V to X who illustrated various elements of dance forms like Kathak, Bharatnattyam, Manipuri and various international folk dances. The students wrote about their place of origin, costumes, poses and mudras. They paid a special tribute to the rich dance heritage of the country by participating in the activity with great zeal and enthusiasm.
Shakespeare Day Celebrations - (23 April 2022)
“We can say of Shakespeare, that never has a man turned so little knowledge to such great account.” - T.S. Eliot.
These is no denying the fact that Shakespeare was not of an age but for all times. His plays and sonnets will be read till posterity. To mark the birth anniversary of the Bard that falls on 23 April, the students of classes 10 and 12 saw the animated version of ‘The Tempest’ and ‘Macbeth’ respectively. They also made colourful and creative mind maps with pictures, caricatures and sketches of the plays they had seen as a tribute to the man who of all the modern and ancient poets had the largest and most comprehensive soul.
World Book Day - (23 April 2022)

World Book Day is the biggest celebration of its kind. The aim of it is to celebrate authors, books, illustrators and of course, reading! In order to provide a propitious environment where the young talents would think out of the box and have a great learning experience, the students of classes 1 to 5 celebrated the day with great enthusiasm and festive fervour.
The day was packed with a plethora of literary activities encouraging reading and writing skills amongst the students. The young ones showcased their love for books through reading and writing book reviews and making a flip book. They also sketched their favourite characters/cartoons. It was a great learning experience for all.
Earth day Celebrations for Seedling to Class 4 - (22 April 2022)
"The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth."
In pursuit of sensitising the nimble minds about the need of loving and protecting our planet, the Earth Day was celebrated wherein a plethora of activities were organised for classes Seedling to 4.
The students of Class Seedling and Sapling danced on the peppy songs of Earth Day. The little munchkins of Class 1 visited the school garden and Class 2 made colourful head bands. The children of Class 3 showed their creative side while making bird houses with waste water bottles. Class 4 did an activity Green Ninja wherein they presented the information related to different pictures drawn by them. Children were made aware that EVERY DAY IS AN EARTH DAY and we should join hands to make our Earth a better place to live in.
Earth day Celebrations for Senior Classes - (22 April 2022)
Our planet is an amazing place, but it needs our help to thrive! That’s why each year on April 22, more than a billion people celebrate Earth Day to protect the planet from things like pollution and deforestation. To keep up the tradition our Eco Club, KESHOLOY as every year celebrated this year's Earth Day with great aplomb after the long hiatus of two years as we finally celebrated it offline.
Our Principal Ms. Sheena Kalenga and Vice Principal Ms. Sabina Shergill graced the occasion. The choir group of our school regaled the audiences with a soothing song 'I am the Earth' sending the message across that we have to nurture the Mother Earth with love and care for our future generations. The next was the dance performance by the students of class VIII. The theme of the dance was to spread awareness regarding stopping deforestation. The performance tugged at the hearts of the audience
who related with the message of planting more trees.... the message of making our Earth more green was reiterated when our school heads participated in a plantation drive.
The event was very ably compared by Gargi Gupta of class 12 who in her speech emphasised to live the theme of the Earth Day - Invest in Our Planet by shouting out to all entities of our social, political and economic strata to join hands and work towards this goal in unison.
Today's event was culminated by the audience watching a documentary 'Our Planet'. The film narrated by Sir David Attenborough captivated the imagination of the students with its jaw dropping visuals and outstanding cinematography.
The event was finally addressed by our Principal Ma'am Ms.Sheena who asked all the students to celebrate each day as Earth Day so that the relevance of this day is not lost.

Good Friday Activity by Class 4 - (15 April 2022)
Students were shown a video relating to Good Friday to make them aware and they were called to speak few lines about the same.

Each year, Good Friday is celebrated on Friday before Easter.
It commemorates Jesus Christ’s passion, crucifixion, and death as stated in the Christian Bible.
Our Class IV Saint Markians were shown a short video to enlighten them about the thought and meaning behind celebrating Good Friday.
Through this activity they were given the power of being thoughtful and speak about the essence of Jesus Christ 's crucifixion.
Students were made to understand the love of god - "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son."
World Art Day Celebrations for Classes 1 to 4 - (15 April 2022)
It is rightly said, “Art is as natural as sunshine and as vital as nourishment.” Keeping this thought in mind, students of Classes I to IV celebrated World Art Day with great enthusiasm. Little munchkins of Classes I to II engrossed themselves in a Stroke Making Activity whereas young learners of Classes III and IV were at their creative best while making colourful drawings of their choice. The event was a great success and enjoyed by one and all.
World Art Day Celebrations for Classes 5 to 10 - (15 April 2022)
INTERNATIONAL ART DAY
Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up - Pablo Picasso.
Each year, on 15 April, World Art Day celebrations help reinforce the links between artistic creations and society, encourage greater awareness of the diversity of artistic expressions and highlight the contribution of artists to sustainable development.
A plethora of activities were conducted to mark this day in SMWS. Class 5 created expressive greeting cards, post cards and book marks with Indian Folk Art on them. Classes 6 and 7 did China Calligraphy painting, Class 8 made beautiful Turkish Traditional designs, Class 9 tried their hands on Japanese Flower paintings on Fans and Class 10 crafted impressive Sri Lankan Masks.
Students showed their enthusiasm by participating in the activity in full measure and also enjoyed making colourful and vibrant articles on the various topics given to them.
All the students showcased their creativity with beautiful colouring skills and artistic flow. It was a celebration of the young minds’ colourful representations. All the participants were appreciated for their industrious efforts and dedication towards Art.
Ambedkar Jayanti Activity celebrated by Class 3 - (13 April 2022)
Ambedkar Jayanti is an annual festival celebrated to commemorate the memory of B. R. Ambedkar who was born on 14th April 1891. Ambedkar struggled for equality throughout his life, hence his birthday is celebrated as ‘Equality Day’ in India. The Ambedkar Jayanti holds significance because it draws attention towards the upliftment of the under privileged. An informative video on the life story of Dr. Ambedkar was shown to students and it was well explained by the teachers. This was followed by class discussion with the students about equality and Dr. Ambedkar’s contribution to the society. Students participated actively in the discussion and gained new information.
Baisakhi Celebrations by Classes 1 and 2 - (13 April 2022)
Baisakhi, the harvest festival of Punjab was celebrated at SMWS with great zeal and enthusiasm. The tiny tots of Class I and II were taught about the golden fields, rich harvest and the hard work of the farmers. The students were also engaged in creating Baisakhi crafts. The students of Class 1 made colourful kites and the students of Class 2 enjoyed dholak craft. The activities brought vibrancy to the environment. The festival was celebrated with great fervour and gaiety.
National Pet Day Celebrations by Class 4 - (11 April 2022)

Creatures large and small teach, delight, and offer a special kind of companionship. Owning a pet can be a rewarding experience for a child. A well-chosen pet can bring years of joy. Pet ownership can also be a chance for kids to learn valuable life lessons as they care for a living creature. Pets can teach children about responsibility and dependability with adult guidance. As an added bonus, some pets give affection in return for a child’s loving attention.
Our ehnthusiastics Saint Markians portrayed their affection towards their pets which encouraged affection and kindness towards the world. Here, are a few glimpses of the engaging activity. Kudos to our budding torch bearers.
World Autism Awareness Day - (2 April 2022)

World Autism Awareness Day is annually celebrated on 2nd April worldwide. This year‘s observance will be addressing inclusive education, the key to the transformative promise of the Sustainable Development Goals, to LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND.
Observance of this day, makes people understand and accept people with autism, fosters worldwide support and inspires people Joining the worldwide celebration and awareness campaign. Our school counsellors Ms. Neha Dutta and Ms. Richa Arora conducted a session for students from Class 6th to 9th. The students were shown educative videos about Autism followed by a short discussion. Students actively participated by making awareness badges and posters.

Citation Ceremony 2022 - (24 March 2022)
“It’s sad, but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life, starts with goodbye.” – Carrie Underwood.
The end of school life is in fact the beginning of a new life. It is a new beginning to achieve great things. The students of Class XII of St. Mark’s World School are now ready to venture out in a new world which is full of challenges and opportunities. To wish them best for their new life, the school organised a Citation Ceremony on 24 March 2022. Students of Class XI wished them joy and happiness through their musical performance. A video was also shown and students of Class XII relived all their special moments of school life. Students as well as parents shared their experience of long association with the school. The school Principal Ms. Sheena Kalenga in her address to the students emphasised on importance of intelligence and character and wished them all the best for their future. The school Vice Principal Ms. Sabina Shergill blessed the students and wished them luck in all their efforts. A river of vivid emotions and torrential memories gripped every student as they left the portals of their alma mater.
Graduation Day by Class Sapling - (March 2022)
It’s time to celebrate!!
Our little fledglings were able to sail effortlessly through their kindergarten year, getting accustomed to the new normal for teaching learning experience with grit and determination along with the help of their parents and teachers.
And now is the time for us when we bid adieu to our little ones while they pack away their memories of Class Sapling, look forward to set new goals, to dream new dreams and see what lies beyond.
To celebrate the progression and development of students of sapling of we celebrated Graduation Day and applauded the young enthusiastic leaners for their commendable performance in the session 2021-2022. Our tiny tots were given graduate certificates and graduation caps.

Holi Activity by Class Seedling - (18 March 2022)
It’s been rightly said ”Holi is the time to develop understanding and love for each other. It is the festival of colours people love to eat famous sweet ‘gujiya’ on this day".
Little munchkins of St. Mark’s World school also celebrated this festival in Online as well as Offline Class with full enthusiasm. They made a colourful tree with the help of cotton dabbing and also danced with great joy.
Little munchkins enjoyed themselves alot and had a complete fun packed day.
National Safety Day by Class 3 - (4 March 2022)
“Safety is a full time job, don’t make it a part time practice.”
It’s not something that can happen on it’s own by accident. You need to work towards it with the right measures, tools and mindset.
Hoping that everyone around us is safe and keeping this drive in mind, the students of Class 3 observed National Safety Day. They created beautiful and thoughtful posters on Road Safety and spread the awareness amongst everyone.
World Wildlife Day by Class Sapling - (3 March 2022)
"Wildlife in the world can only be protected by the love of compassionate hearts in the world." - Mehmet Murat Ildan.
World Wildlife Day celebrates the beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora. It's built around the idea that animals play an essential role in our everyday lives, so it's vital to ensure that they are treated kindly and with the care they deserve. To spread awareness about this day, children of Class Sapling wore beautiful animal headgears and spoke few lines on their favourite wild animal.
World Wildlife Day is an opportunity to celebrate the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora and to raise awareness for the multitude of benefits that their conservation provides to the people.
At the same time, the day reminds us of the urgent need to step up the fight against wildlife crime and human-induced reduction of species, which have wide-ranging economic, environmental and social impacts. To increase the awareness about the same, a video was shown to the students of Class II about extinct and endangered species and followed by an activity wherein our tiny tots made bookmarks and wrote thoughtful slogans to save the wildlife. It was a fruitful activity enjoyed by all.

St. Mark’s World School celebrated 73rd Republic day with immense patriotic zeal and spirit through an online platform. The students of Class 2 presented a plethora of patriotic poems to celebrate this monumental day. The slogan writing activity was also conducted in the class which enlightened the feeling of nationalism and brotherhood amongst the students.

Indian Army Day by Class 9 - (15 January 2022)
To mark the significance of Indian Army Day celebrated on 15 January every year, the students of Class IX made colourful, bright and vibrant logos and badgets to show their respect and gratitude towards the Indian Army. Our students participated in this activity with great zeal and zest. On this special day, the students remembered the martyred soldiers who are the greatest heroes of our country. The students were also shown a small video about the history of Indian Army and thereafter students explained the heroic efforts of the Indian Army, its importance, challenges and difficulties faced by our soldiers in saving the nation and it's people.
